I have 3 B/S account on Asia, EUR and Amerika. After playing several RACE C, to my conclusion, players in Amerika still playing bumper cars and full of dirty tricks. Europe is the best for me, sportmanship is high all the time, there's an race incident that I get bumped and the car gave me back my position.

On Asia region, it all depends on what time I'm logging in. The best is when player from red flags went to sleep.

How does it work to have different accounts? How can you have them in the 3 world regions? I'm noob to the 'multiple accounts stuff' in general.

Essentially, you will need to create an account whose country is from one of the listed regions for GTS.

e.g. An account from the US will allow you to play on the Americas region, and so does for Australia if you want to play in the Asia/Oceania region.

If said multiple accounts are made on a PS4 system that has a PS+ subscription, that will carry over to those accounts.

Pretty much lines up with my experience from the three regions as well. I can't exactly say how Hong Kong is dirty though, the only ones I've encountered often enough so far is saika and TLallave. In general no one else sticks to my mind from that country, much less whether they're clean or not

Do they ever sleep???

Are you sure your experience from the other regions doesn't just line up with their quieter times? I'll be waiting until someone has consistently played 24/7 across all regions before taking this as fact.

I've not encountered any from HK that stick in my mind either. But they're not the only "Red Flag" country. Mainland CN, I can only think of one. And thats far from enough to say they're all messy racers. In my experience I've been launched by dirty and messy players from most flags so I'm more comfortable putting this down to human nature than the type of flag they fly.

These screens are from my first day (monday) on the oval race (B).
At the beginning I raced w/o qualify time, I had good results starting from the back, race by race new casual (as me) racers with the command "win or die" forced me to some "sabbatic" A races to regain SR (I had dropped from 99 to 80 in two races) ..

I made my two other accounts while I was on summer break so I had all the time in the world to be able to play. My play time back then ranged anywhere from 1 or 2 pm in the afternoon until 1 in the morning, with breaks here and there. Sometimes there's these weird days where I would fall asleep at 10 in the evening and wake up at 5 in the morning, so I get to play in those times as well
In the US it's much better during off peak times for some reason (2-9ish AM US time), then it gets worse from there. EU no matter what time I play in is great racing :)

Pretty much on the same boat here. I recall racing against a Chinese player, but I don't remember their PSN

I'm struggling to handle that livery haha oh my god

I do know some of them, such as yueliaoyuekaixin, who IS a Chinese alien. Then we got lr1030 who appears in some of my FIA races as an A/S driver, and finally there is a Portuguese in disguise who appeared on both of my Final Season Round 10 races in form of LSD_Chemical_boy.

Race C was good fun last night, apart from my first race ending dead last. Punted in turn 1, punted at turn 4 then spun round in turn 5, then to add insult to injury, ran out of fuel 2 corners from the line lol.

The Megane is crazy good. Braking, turn in, fuel saving and tyres. Swapped from NSX to the Megane and within 2 laps had my qually down to a 2.05.1xx. Still tons of time for me to shave off but cannot put a lap together. Managed a few top 5 finishes in strong rooms so I'm pretty happy.

@zzz_pt Some good wins for you last night, even though I didn't even see you on track lol.

Think I saw @bone_tone in there as well driving a Lambo (?).

I took a lot before to understand how to apply that "pattern" :sly:;)

Back to the McLaren’s - I’ve started using both Group 3 and 4 cars recently. The Group 4 car is a great car to drive, I’ve found. Not the fastest, but I’ve been consistently qualifying up in the front two rows for this week’s Daily Race C at Maggiore. You have to short shift to get the most out of it. Goes well for race pace too, not sure if I could do a no stopper but I’ve consistently been at least one of the quickest on a one stop strategy.

The Group 3 car is very hard to tame at first and requires a smooth driving style. I’ve only raced it once, so I couldn’t say for sure how it is on race pace but it at least feels good over a race distance. For sure there’s nothing wrong with it on single lap pace either, once you get used to the handling.

No one stop for mclaren but its competitive unless you're facing aliens in meganes.

Hmmm...

The Cayman is one of the worse cars on fuel economy. For him to finish in 16:57m his lap times need to be in the 2:05s. That's simply not possible in the Cayman while short shifting + no slipstream + no pitting + tire wear. Especially since it's a car with long gears that need high revs to keep a decent pace (I did a 2:04:009 with it).

The best I could do was 17:02 / 17:03 running high 2:06s and low 2:07s in the Toyota (the Megane can also do it).

A few guys I've raced against (all S/S or A+/S) used the Cayman with a zero stop strategy and the best they could do was 17:10s or higher. That's a difference of 13 seconds in 8 laps.

Do you happen to have the replay of that race? If so, could you share it in game?
I'm curious to see the replay as well, sadly i'm not the guy in possession of it.

Last night turned into the ultimate disaster movie or "Mr Bean" moment of my week.

Came home, started the PS4, installed the ethernet cable to my new broadband box, connection tested - fine, 50 for download speed
and 2.5 upload speed, all good.

Clicked on the GT Sport icon and PS4 prompts me to insert GT Sport disc. So I open the box for the game and there's no disc in the box so tried
to eject whatever was in the machine and the PS4 makes lots of disgrunted beeps to say no disc in the machine.

Then waisted at least 2 1/2 hours messing up my room looking for the GT Sport disc to then hear the PS4 eject a disc and it's GT Sport
(in the console disc drive where it's been for months) and then I was able to play but didn't have time for races just improving my qualifying
times.

Hopefully tonight no drama's!

@Mr616 Yeah, I saw you there and a few other people. :) It's been fun.

I was using the Cayman at first and pitting on lap 5 but to win I'd have to push hard during the entire race and overtake up to 5 cars in the last 3 laps. A bit risky ^^. Then a fast driver appeared in a Megane, no pit stop, and I lost 2 races in a row (one by 0.4sec ^^).

That's why I changed to the Toyota + 0 stops. I'm 6-10 sec faster at the end of the race then with the Cayman + 1 stop.

I hate the Megane (and FF cars in general).

Which is why we need both and sport mode attendance will only go up!

Switch it up, one week A changes daily, next week B changes daily, week 3 C changes daily, repeat.
THIS IS A MUST. In fact we should have both weekly and daily races running at the same time, so there's the potential to compete in 6 DIFFERENT RACES. I would totally be down for that.

Yes, I was there in my Hurucan, wondering what I was doing in a room full of aliens! I was in the same race as @zzz_pt three times, 20th place on the grid with a qualifying time 3.5 seconds slower than him, and 2 seconds slower than the guy in 19th....

Still, I made up a couple of places in each race - rage quitters, penalties for other players etc. Had great fun in one race, watching the two drivers in front of me squabbling over 18th/19th place

Perhaps see you again later :gtpflag:

It's the Megane Trophy MR car. I had to resort to it to stay on pace but I'll be trying others tonight. The 86 will be on my hit list.

I no stopped the Megane after my first lap bumps and scrapes but I feel 1 stopping is the fastest strat.

Hopefully see you on track later!

I'll be on tonight so yes, hope to see you again. Some very fast lobbies last night. Was really great racing on the whole. Good to learn from how the really fast guys race. I saved a replay to have a look at the top guys race strat.

Speaking of which, I was able to do a 2:05.6 using that car in the Manufacturer Series Free Practice, and that's with the stricter Championship-specific Track Limits!

Thanks for the heads up. I'll be trying this out first race tonight :)

It's the Megane Trophy MR car.

No wonder I was half a second off the pace of the Toyota. ^^ I was trying the FF car. :dunce: The MR Trophy came in an update while I was absent so I didn't have the car. Somehow the model in the leaderboards didn't click in my head. I'll definitely test it today.

It feels like a slow GT3 car. It's welded to the track. Sharp turn in and amazing tyre wear and fuel conservation. Just a bit slow top end.

Yeah i don't know, its unreasonable how large the allowed skill discrepancy is within the matchmaking. Perhaps they should introduce a hidden minimum qualifying time requirement that works as a premise for matchmaking at the highest tier (SR S) that way D/S drivers don't get jumbled up with aliens, until they improve their pace. I'm thinking for lake maggie a mid 2.05 or a flat 2.06 qualifying time would be a reasonable barrier to be eligible for racing vs the best players in the queue.

6 concurrent races would make it even harder to fill rooms with drivers with roughly the same pace and SR. I would love to have more choice yet in SR.S it's already A+/S to D/S most of the time on the Americas server.

What do you suggest to keep the rooms full? Or simply start with smaller grids?

If PD would combine all regions and make sport mode world wide it would be possible. Increase the SR range for matching, then match on pace and ping time. Matching on qualifying time has its own problems as not everyone puts the same effort into it. Yet perhaps set goal times to be able to enter different tiers of rooms could be interesting. Add an incentive to improve your times by increasing the payout for higher tier rooms.

Btw with all the DR resets and 'casual fun' accounts there are some very fast D/S drivers around!

To piggy-back off this convo, I think the bigger issue is how to get more people playing Sport mode. I think this should be done by abandoning the single player 'offline' races and giving more structure and dolling out more rewards for Sport mode races.

For example;
In real motorsports you are awarded points for finishing (usually) within the top 10. This should be implemented. Then at the end of a week those points are turned into game unlocks. New cars, liveries and/or ME items. Also name-tags and profile customisation options should be added and again, unlocked with race points. FIA events unlock more points and special items can be obtained from specific events.
I also think at the end of every race the podium should be displayed for the top 3 and a 'driver of the race' awarded to the player with the highest finishing position to starting position (assuming they set a quali time).

As much as I agree, a lot of the playerbase is stuck in 1998 and will have the pitchforks out if they didn't have an outlet to beat the abysmal AI and get the pretence they have any real skill

Oh no I'm aware. I was here for launch and saw the number of new and old accounts crying about the lack of offline content. But to be honest, we've had 6 games of that Sport isn't that and shouldn't be that... at the moment it's a halfway house and its doing both badly. PD or it's director either need to grow a pair or just go back to making proper GT games...

Since GT5, I don't care for GT mode (career) because it isn't challenging with a few exceptions here and there. But ai understand that lots of people have the opposite opinion.

PD just has to make the online more appealing, which is becoming harder and harder to do in a market filled with good racing games (AC and ACC, PC2, Forzas, etc).

My motto is to enjoy it while I can. :D

Grids size isn't the issue, lets deal with the issue. Cross-region matchmaking could spell for laggy endeavours but could be alleviated with a ping limit, however that means that players from remote regions (oceania comes to mind) with inherently worse ping to the masses, would potentially have to wait longer in queue and may never be able to race against certain region(s) due to exceeded ping. Matchmaking largely based on qualifying time is a direct solution for bringing more competitive races. The downside to that is that some people may be inclined to sandbag their qualifying time for easy wins. This can somewhat be solved by swaping their average race pace to their qualifying time, but again not ideal, because it doesn't deal with people who are "slow" due to strategic reasons in the race.

All in all, the latter is probably the simplest solution. Enforce one round of qualifying before allowing people to race and apply the gold/silver/bronze model to the qualifying times with gold being 2 seconds off top 10 pace as baseline, silver 4 sec off and so on.

Within a couple of days, I went from sitting on pole, with a field full of E/Bs, to sitting in 20th with a load of S and A+ drivers - this was despite a steadily declining DR (currently in A, soon to be B). 2.07 is the best I've ever managed at Maggiore in Gr4.
