It's been three days of pain for me at Maggiore, trying to get clean races and just suffering endless SR downs. The most frustrating tonight was when I came to my pit stop, I hugged the inside on the last corner to line up for the pit lane and someone muscled through on the inside anyway, preventing me from turning in. Thought I was going to make it but smacked into the pitwall instead. Wound up 17th (from 5th) with a nice SR deduction to go with my DR loss.

It was possibly all worth it for my last race this evening though. I got 2nd on grid (my best start in about 10 months!) and had an excellent battle with the top 3 cars right up until lap 7/8 - at that point I was running a close second again, the lead looked possible but I lost the rhythm through the fast S bends section (tyres were shot) and ended up in the gravel. Still salvaged 4th which got me a nice DR bump but my SR only went up 2 points despite not getting any penalties.

I have tried various cars but the one that got me the above grid position was the Genesis (with a high 2.07). I wonder if finding another better car could get me closer to the pace everyone else is capable of. I haven't seen any other Genesis on the grid but when I tried the popular cars I couldn't get the same result.

PSA: Bump drafting at Blue Moon not only provides a negligible speed boost to you and the person you're hitting, it will get the car in front disqualified. If you want to go faster with slipstreaming, use the strategy from Driving Mission 23 in Gran Turismo 4. If you want to take a car out of the race, there are much more efficient ways of sending them into the wall. Thank you.

It seems my races on Bluemoon have turned in to, how many laps can I do before getting DQ again. I got DQ from someone draft bumping me while I was in first. Now the races start with the DQ warning and as soon as someone bumps me, however slight, I'm kicked out again. Sudden death mode.

I should change my welcome message to "Tap me once and I'll disappear without a cloud of smoke"

hi all, a little annoying thing about race B, my friend gt boca momo found the way to take advantage on the first corner for the clock. He could not make a good time compared to the others and did not understand why. Now, he knows how some are doing to set a great time. he won 2 tenths using the wall.
Pfffffffff and re pffffffffffff PoDi

I remember the Gr.4 Genesis struggled with a lot of understeer on turn-in in the downhill sections. I found a lot of time by setting the brake balance all the way to the back. This was without tyre wear and with the old tyre model though but I would experiment with it.

Why bother with it then? Race C is quite enjoyable. Good mix of viable cars, fast momentum track with plenty of overtaking and two viable race strategies to choose from. The only downside is that gr4 is a bit slow.

I've found that short shifting in fuel mix 1 works best. Here's how I typically run a race:

I wonder what's the fuel strategy of the guy who won the race. Didn't pit and managed a sub 17min time. O.o

Really wish the Mini Nations Cup was the Weekly race. Too much fun. Tuning allowed and player's liveries. Made Tsukuba come alive with 20 cars.

Some cars were slammed to the ground. Some had serious body roll. Some were quick on turns and slow on the straights. Wish I could do it again with my main account.

There are a few of us who enjoy oval racing I would suspect. It sucks because I would always welcome blue moon races, and gave me a good excuse to use my Nascar liveries. PD has since ruined it for a lot of folks.

We'll, there is s chance Motegi, Indy and/or Daytona could make it. Remember, there were Super GT events around Motegi, in past GT games. We'll see.

Oh I don't doubt it, but PD has made it damn near stupid to race on an oval with the lastest penalty bs.

PD can add as many oval tracks as they want, but if they use the same backwards penalty system they're currently opting with for Blue Moon, they just won't be worth the risk/heartache to do.

Guys, have you watched the replay of the top teen of race B?

IR

It's funny as hell, RIGHT!!!:lol::lol:

Almost as ridiculous as race A.

In race A is the fault of the game... in race B of the player.... it's different ..

But it's a great big hole in the wall that PD have left there.

They leave broken bits of game everywhere.

I don't know why people join ovals or races where people in the top10 are going off track. It's obvious you'll be in the midst of drivers who don't care about SR or DR.

I avoid them like the plague. Ovals, Tokyo and other tracks where there's a clear way of cutting without penalties.

Since maybe week 1 or 2 after launch I've mostly played race C (longer). Usually it's not an oval and people have more time to recover from small mistakes, leading to more respectful and relaxed races.

Blue moon was a joke, you can't go into turn 1 without someone slamming you in the behind and of course you get a penalty for "braking in front of them". I also literally executed the perfect manuever between two cars on turn one, split a guy drifting wide and a guy taking the inside, passed them both, didn't touch either one .....and I got an sr penalty somehow, maybe cause I cut the guy flying on the inside off but if I slowed down he'd of sideswiped me. Everyone tries to overtake you right before a turn taking the inside too fast and rubbing your out and somehow i get a Sr penalty even though I maintained my line. No thanks, i've always hated daily races because my sr just takes a beating by other drivers becayse i literally always qualify P7 to P10 everytime. I'll stick to time trials with the daily race qualifiers and the nations cup and manufacturers races only from now on. Rant over gnight

He is just too good at the game.

I'm in the top 10 in Europe with that car and I don't see how that's possible. I haven't seen someone not pitting with a cayman and win (with a time lower than 17m10s).

I love the ovals because, on the (increasingly rare) occasion they don't completely ruin the penalty system, they provide close racing, and I'm almost always fast enough to stay in front of any carnage that happens further back. There's also much less distinction between the freakishly fast "aliens" and the rest of us mere mortals, so competition is always close. That being said, I think I'm gonna sit this week's oval out due to PD's completely clueless implementation of penalties, which sucks, because it's probably gonna be the only one for the next month...

Ovals are fun with the right people, once the leader breaks away from the pack then it’s pretty much race over though.

Agreed about race c, that’s why it’s the only lobby I race in.

This penalty system is retarted for tracks like bluemoon. Went from sr b to sr d even though i tried my best to avoid touching anyone. Got constantly penalized for being bump drafted.

Then this idiot spaniard with bad ping came and got me 3x 3sec in one race without getting a single penalty himself.

Funny thing is that pushed my sr to 10 and reset my DR by approx 15000 points.

Maybe its time to shove gran turismo after 20 years. Anyone looking for cheap T-GT?

I guess he shifts very early and adjusts fuel consumption in a few corners. I'm very impressed however with his laptimes, myself i can't run faster than high 2.06 on no pit strat.

Just avoid that race like plague, PD will get it right one day (hopefully).

There is still plenty clean very close racing to be found on Bluemoon. If you don't worry about your DR and SR that is. I've already been reset a few times, DQ'd three times, however also pocketed plenty wins and had plenty awesome close races. SR is a lottery on the daily B and penalties are mostly backwards.

After a while you adjust, no more draft bumping, slingshots it is then. Stay high so when you get bumped into the wall the effect is not that severe and the other car gets a penalty. Easy to draft back and slingshot past them. Staying high also means brake later so less chance to get SR Down from the car behind you bumping into you. Avoid the inside unless you trust the outside driver. If they turn in on you and bounce off, you get the penalty.

Racing is cleaner below SR 30 than above. No clue why, yet every time I climb back past 30 it seems people simply lose all common sense. While at SR.D I've had awesome close clean battles to the finish. I'm starting 2nd to 7th with my qualifying time (43.273) Every race is different which keeps it fun. First place sometimes escapes, a few times I managed to escape, more often it's a battle to the end. Otherwise the battle for 2nd is just as much fun, even though it's a bit frustrating when people only think about 2nd and force side by side every corner while 1st runs free.

A Brazilian in 3rd is worth gold!

That race I had a fantastic clean battle for another Brazilian, after the Americans with their penalties were done diving. I managed to win with less than a car length. Of course just now I got my 4th DQ. SR was above 30 in the bad zone, got bumped a ton, might as well make the SR Down symbol permanent, then I got brake checked in lap 8 and DQ. It's a roller coaster. SR back down to 27, should be cleaner racing again next race.

Hmmm...

The Cayman is one of the worse cars on fuel economy. For him to finish in 16:57m his lap times need to be in the 2:05s. That's simply not possible in the Cayman while short shifting + no slipstream + no pitting + tire wear. Especially since it's a car with long gears that need high revs to keep a decent pace (I did a 2:04:009 with it).

The best I could do was 17:02 / 17:03 running high 2:06s and low 2:07s in the Toyota (the Megane can also do it).

A few guys I've raced against (all S/S or A+/S) used the Cayman with a zero stop strategy and the best they could do was 17:10s or higher. That's a difference of 13 seconds in 8 laps.

Do you happen to have the replay of that race? If so, could you share it in game?

86 is so fun and smooth in Race C. My pace is only high 2:08, and 2:10 with worn tyres but still managed to get on the podium, since many players in the field still using 1 pit

Perfect to recover SR for blue moon parties
