Anybody else having trouble staying connected during the pre-race loading screen? Ive been getting booted every time. This isn’t something that usually happens to me, ever.

Restart the game between races, it seems to help.

First race up for the night Race B in the bug. What a nightmare. I couldn't manage to beat my previous qualifying time, so i started P9/14 on a grid of DR/C and D.

The race starts with auto drive exiting mid corner, and round I go. I had a 1.7s gap behind me, so I just focused on my braking point and getting round the corner. I kept my nose clean and slowly went up the ranks. I was in P4 by lap 3 and it seemed like the 3 in front slowed down, because I was finding the pace a road block to a comfortable flow. The constant braking to avoid hitting P3 meant the muppet behind me caught up, and then proceeded to crash pass me at the chicane, which had me off the track and down to P8 :banghead:. I was bashed by other drivers along the way, gifting me with multiple orange SRs. On the final lap every one was so desperate to get ahead that all ideas of clean racing went out the window . The guy behind me kept ramming me up the rear which gave me yet another orange SR. By the time I was done I finished P7.

I came away with about 100 DR up and 5 SR down. Kinda sick of people who think 1/2 a car width is passing space. :grumpy:

I’m sorry but it’s so difficult to get into this game when you are slow. Online racing is left to those who have more racing time. That’s fine but there’s those that like to mess with those that are quicker. I’m not the quickest or even the quickest. I would enjoy racing with comparable advicarie

I don't understand your complaint. The game literally matches you with comparable times. You do understand that you're not racing the entire grid, right? If pole position has 2 seconds on you, you'll never see them or interact with them... you're not racing with them. Generally speaking you are only ever really racing with the 2 people in front of you and the 2 people behind you (unless someone makes a major mistake). Simply passing 2 to 3 drivers with a better lap time than you is a decent race that anybody should be happy with.

Focus on relative and reasonable goals, not getting 1st place.

Erm... no, that's not how it works. Why bother having different driver ratings and a points system? The point of race matching is to place you on a whole grid of people at your level. It depends on the number of people entering any given race. SR takes priority over DR. If there are enough people entering at your SR and DR, then you get a race where you might stand a chance of gaining points because you are racing people at your level. Qualifying time alone is not a true measure of race matching, because someone with a higher DR level also most likely has better race craft *during the race*. The DR/A who is maybe 4 places behind you because he didn't qualify, or just ran out of time to put in a decent lap is very likely going to decimate you on the track.

There is a whole thread dedicated to the unfairness of race matching, but the system can only work with the number of people entering. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes not. Depends if you are interested in battles or final placement. :p

Next week's races are up
A: Gr.4 - Fuji GT - 4 laps
B: Gr.3 - Interlagos - 5 laps
C: Gr.2 - Suzuka - 10 laps - x6 fuel, x10 tyres
Race A yet another repeating combo in less than a month!!!
Still waiting for some BMB Infield action or sumat at one of the Willow Springs tracks. It's been too long without those since the races went to weekly.

FIX UP PD..... FFS!!!!! :grumpy:

Race C was... different. Took the Mazda for a second spin for the week, this time trying to do a no pit. Qualy had me P7/16 on a grid of mostly DR/Bs with 5 C's and 4 of my peeps. There were 4 of us doing the Group C thing.

Race gets underway, and as is it's want, auto drive quits mid chicane. Because I'm short shifting, I dropped back a few places getting to Mulsanne, where I then pick up a few places. There was a lot of toing and froing till we get to Indianapolis. I was within spitting distance to the 3 cars in front, when an LM55 missile rams me so hard, I strait line into the wall at 90deg to the track. By the time I'm re-spawned and get going again, I'm down to P14 and getting passed by P15 .

I plugged away and slowly gained ground. The short shifting, and trying to take corners in a taller gear than I usually would kept me going. On the final lap I had a pretty good battle with a DR/B who started P12. At the Porsche Curves he was side by side, and I had to back off on the exit so I didn't push him off. There was some slight rubbing, but we both stayed on and he went ahead. I tried a little too hard at the end to keep up and with my tyres in questionable condition, made a mess of the final chicanes, and picked up a 3s penalty. I finished P8.

Despite getting kicked to the kerb, I got all my lost SR back and went up 400 DR :scared:. Disappointed about playing in the sand, but I'd still call that a result. Another day above DR 1 :dopey:.

Looks like I don't have to hurry with RDR2. No appeal there. I kinda wanted to race on Sarthe this week yet it's Friday already, pretty late to step into a weekly and I'm fully absorbed in RDR2. I'm racing horses, trains, stage coaches and canoes instead. One thing GTS has over RDR2, no trees on the track. Damn horse runs into a tree so often his brains must be mush.

I don't think the GTS disk has been out of the console for this long before. The memories of easy unfair penalties on Sarthe keep me from doing a casual race. Too risky, before I know it I'll have to race half the night to restore my SR again. I'm guessing track limits haven't been fixed and people still go wide at Tertre Rouge?

GR.2 Suzuka should be safe for a casual race in between next week.

Personally don't bother with LaSarthe for casual race:
-Rolling start is dreadful and there's many factors between bad position placement, rng if some cars get stuck due to a bug and some people with different cars with extreme acceleration difference (leading to gaps and incidents)
- I've watched @mclarenLB and oh boy cutting is so bad and not as punishing.

Lost all interest in that combo until it gets fixed.

It took me awhile to understand the intent of your post. I see now, you're pedantically describing how the ranking and matching system works. Clearly time is a criteria so the game is "literally matching" people by time as it's one of the criteria pieces. This pedantic nitpicking in my description doesn't alter my point or how it pans out in the game.

I think you're making a mountain out of a molehill here. I race DR B and SR S and generally speaking there are usually 2 people ahead and behind me within 1 second of my time. Yes, there are sometimes DR A with low qualifying times that you can expect to move to the front, but conversely there are hot lapping freaks who can't piece together a decent time while racing in a pack. They generally offset each other.

As a driver I prioritize consistency over speed and the game's ranking system rewards me with a typical 1 to 4 place improvement on any given race. Catastrophes happen but they are rare (it feels like 1 in 6 races) and I end in a lower position but generally the game gives me competitive races where I can expect to beat a few people.

So in this instance @BallPtPenTheif ‘s (cracking username BTW) description is accurate.

Thanks, it's a reference to a song by a band called McLusky. That and my propensity to accidentally walk off with pens that I borrow. The misspelling is an intentional joke to insight grammar nazis.

I finally got a win on Race B :D

Admittedly it's probably because I've slipped to the bottom rungs of DR B but I'm still happy. I had a clean fair duel with another car through laps 1 and 2 before managing to get ahead and make a bit of a gap. On lap 4 P2 closed the gap slightly. On the approach to the last chicane I checked back and could see he was nowhere near close enough to make a move so just held my normal line. If anything I got on the brakes slightly late only to see him flying up the inside of me! He hit the first curb so fast he completely cleared the track landing on the second corner (off track) before getting a reset! While he was mid-flight he clipped the front of my car which naturally gave me a 2 second penalty  No issue scrubbing that off before the finish though.

It was one hell of a lunge that had no chance of sticking. I can only guess he was desperate or just missed his brake point.

It was nice to finally get a win, and I can get into the 1:58's now which is a hell of an achievement for me.

Next weeks races look brilliant. Looking forward to all of them although Interlagos is not one of my best circuits. Pretty comfortable with Fuji (last couple of corners not withstanding) and Gr.2 at Suzuka is going to be ........ interesting for me!

Race pace in the 58s is better than low B.

Race pace in the 58s is better than low B.

Only if you can do it 4 times in a row :dopey:

If I get a lap time under 2:00 in a race I'm happy. I'm better at hot lapping than racing. Working on it though.

Race A qualified 6th. Messed up the start, by being in 2nd gear(No HUD). Last place and caught up and passed the first car struggling in the esses. Passed another after the final turn and picked off two more, that were battling instead of catching the leaders.

Grabbed another spot and pulled away from that pack. Crossed the line and saw I made it to 4th.

i thought you rank was decreased if you lost too much SR? just a saw a DR S - SR B , how is that possible? I was A+/S and after a really bad race with bumping all around i was downgraded to A-B

Because S has nothing to do with driver rating. It is Star Player. That driver probably only has B or A DR really.

And yet theres absolutely no way anyone in SR B is a star player.

Demolition Derby Star maybe. GT Sport star no.

There was actually a rare breed of an A+/B driver in form of TRL_holl01

I see blue moon or willow springs and I avoid that race like the plague, funny that. I rarely race A or B anymore anyway as they’re too detrimental to my precious SR.

I had a race earlier at Le Mans, thought I’d try fuel saving, same car I’d been using already but thought if I could short shift the R18 ‘11 I might gain a few places. Laps 1-3 were very lonely in 8th place, I wasn’t keeping up with the leaders and everyone behind couldn’t catch me. Started lap 4 in P2 5 seconds behind the leader who had just come out of the pits as I crossed the line.

P3 soon caught up to my fuel saving but was happy to let him pass as any improvement on my usual 10th place or worse I’d be happy with. I tried drafting off of him but I’d set into a rhythm so failed to adjust my braking and knocked him off the track, I let him have his position back but lost around 15 seconds doing so. Even after that he seemingly became intent on taking me out so I let him pass and drafted him the final lap. He made a mistake on the final chicane and did the classic ghost/unghost on me. He let me have P2 which was a nice gesture but left the lobby before receiving my message.

Over the moon with second and I’ll be fuel saving all my Race Cs from now this week because I’m not pushing the car at every turn, lots of coasting, easy positions.

Am I crazy? I'm sitting here qualifying for race B and some of my laps that are beating my previous best time don't get acknowledged as my new best lap. No penalties or anything. What gives?

We’re your previous times from this weeks race or a previous weeks race?

I'm slow...just 2:02s but I kept beating my previous 2:03 times and it wouldn't record. I know in my lap time counter thingee in the upper right corner my times would be in red...like I had a penalty. But I had zero penalties to serve

Race B has been so random for me this week. Qualify with a 1.58.8 meaning grid positions between 5 and 8 at DR B. All week my SR has been plummeting mostly down to other impatient or just plain dirty drivers going from 86 to 48. Admit I did bump a few but never intentional and I never 1st turn bomb at all. DR went from 18k to 16k.

Tonight however the races have been awesome...absolute zero incidents, other players respecting first corner and making the overtakes in correct places. It's like I am playing a different game and I actually performed better, actually did a 1.57.6 in race but it was in slip stream. SR back to 84, 5 clean races in a row, no red SR result all blue in every race. Finishing 3rd to 5th in most races and DR at all time high of 24k.

If only every night was as good as tonight.
