Has anyone else tried putting intermediate tires on the rear of the Scirocco? The car has so much understeer, I figured it would help to loosen it up. It does feel a tad bit better, and seems to be just as fast. I won 2 race A's with that setup.

If you haven't tried it, give it a shot and let me know what you think.

I have a question for you all. I apologize if this isn't the place, but since I race mosty daily B races... I'm wondering where you set traction control in a GR3 car. I've been running at 2. My best lap this week is a 1:33.8xx and I have a handful more laps in the 33's with consistant mid to low 34's with a clear track. Do most of you set and forget, or are you playing with TC during a race. I'm thinking of running some laps with 0 TC to work on throttle control...

If your best lap is a 1:338, then you probably need TC.

The issue with TC is that it "bogs down" - you loose power really. but typically if you did not have it while it was "bogging down", you'd be even slower. Some cars though have the TC "bogging down" while the wheel is turned - the porsche does that. Which means as soon as the Porsche is straight, it goes at its ultimate speed. This must effect the best racing line so it cannot be as quick ... but in traffic with all sorts of stuff going on, with TC on, I don't have to worry.

The concern though is that if one becomes dependent on it, its a hard habit to break. As others have said, try to practice for half of your laps with TC off. Also, some cars have better implementation of TC than others.

Oh and by the way - had two races of just three cars before 8am ... No New Zealanders either ... Sony needs to allow us to race in Asia if the grid is less than 10 IMO. I won the first race by 13 seconds. But was 2nd fast on the grid, the pole car was 1:30 clean. I need to spend some time qualifying I guess as I am 130.2 I think ... anyway the second race, he blocked and i could not get past ... so on lap 4, he went wide at the end of straight chicane after I was still on his bumper ... and then as I came out, he hit me hard and off I went ... I came third.

I really think that if that sort of thing happens again, I'll start nudging him in the back ... its fine to block, that's racing. But its not fine to set someone up by leaving a passing lane and then punting the driver off. And he did not get a penalty. I guess he's done it before. Th annoying thing was I would have had three clean races in a row - and his punt cost me the clean silver star. It does pay to be dirty.

I've read some restart their PS4s if that happens a lot. Evidently that works. There's enough time between races to restart.

I've been doing that for the last couple of months, and it would usually be fine for the next 2 or 3 races. Now, the very first race after a restart disconnects me. I'm hard-wired, with a strong connection. About a half an hour ago, everything froze on the pre-race screen, and nobody got to race.
 
Took a stab at the Scirocco one-make today for three or four goes, since I haven't played in a bit and needed to test something.

Somehow the racing has become even worse, or I just had bad luck. Despite everybody in the lobbies having SR S, I was divebombed at the final corner of the short Maggiore each race. Every time, I got the orange arrow, and they continued on without issue.

The worst example was someone doing it to me while I was inside on another driver. It sure enough knocked that guy right off course, and he then went after me the rest of the race thinking I had done it. :(

Ouch! Give me time, and more importantly, laps. I'll get there. I'll put in some TC free laps before racing tonight. I would kill for a ghost in the Mazda I've been running doing '31's.

One make race with an easy to drive FF car, a short lap with one great spot to just throw it down the inside and use the other cars to stop, Christmas has come early for your average dirty driver. Slipstream set to weak and off track grip loss set to low then only makes it easier for the bad drivers to keep up and cause mayhem. :(
 
So far I have grabbed two more wins in race c, making the R92CP my winningest car in sport mode beating the Fiat nuova 500. Also grabbed a good second place finish.
Man, the first race was crazy! I spun the car on lap 1, then I grabbed back my first position on lap 10. Never give up, beaches!
On my way to A+ DR rank, boyz!

There is a thread about it on the main GTS Page, that’s where I got the idea to try it. Basically you take a piece of cardboard and jam it in front of the brake pedal or into the L2(brake) button so the brake is stuck on just enough to engage the ABS, but not enough to apply any actual brake and the car supposedly gets some sort of boost in performance. Hopefully PD fixes it soon as it’s totally not fair to anyone who doesn’t know about it. It’s why you see the ABS light flashing the entire time in the lap video I posted last night.

After a particularly bumpy race C I suddenly found myself in as the only DR.A in the next room.

This might be my best win from the back yet after a close battle for first for the first 8 laps until I managed to get away.

I was down to SR.80, still S, yet no longer with the A+ A crowd. No problem, finally a race where I did not continuously get bumped from behind. Those hybrids brake and accelerate fast, some think that gives them a license to bump. The penalty system still gives out SR Down to the car in front sigh. However some things have improved. I have not gotten any penalties for people wrecking in front of me anymore. The get hit from behind and the car behind you goes off still gives a penalty. Baby steps.

That clean win was worth 12 SR, so one more to get back to 99!

Next up, back with the A+ up front, and down to DR.D. Matchmaking could make a SR.S room without DR.D yet won't... I was just in another SR.S room!

Placed 5th with another clean race bonus, 12 positions up, great race! @Canada_25 was in two of my races, at the front naturally, there with @Winnie847 battling for first place. I still struggle to get under 1::25 lap time, finishing 25 sec behind the actual fast people. Quite a spread for the top 5.

Got a win tonight in the B race. Got away in 2nd from p4 on the grid. Can't say I was driving great but I was pressuring 1st at times, and made a couple of runs at him, but nothing i could stick cleanly. Someone came by me on lap 3 and those two went at it. I sat back, stayed clear and watched my mirror. They got together on the last 90 degree corner on the final lap and i ducked underneath and got the win. SR is up 20 points to 58. I'll take it.:cool:

I have done just another daily c today. I have won it. This marks it up to 12, which was my goal. Happy about that.

I've done 40 Race Cs so far with my 2 S/S accounts. won 38 out of 40,
the 2 I lost were both to the 908 are due to penalties but still within 1 sec gap.

I'm also in a 908 and beat all R92CPs around me even with the 1:20.5 quali time.
they just eat up their tire and fuel so quick.

You are right about the tires though. I try to manage myself.

Well, I just got a 33.6 flat with no TC. Don't think I would trust it in a race, but the practice helps. It was only a so-so lap in terms of how clean it was, but a good run still.

Well, you're got heaps to improve and have ability considering how little you've done. Finding the right lines is one of the keys. Also backing off, where the limit is, etc etc

After a race you can watch the race ... so if you want to see the lines, I people do that. I should too actually. You just need someone with a faster time than you whose driving the same car.

I had a black screen too after a race ... after the upgrade. I thought the TV had broken ... I restarted and the result was uploaded. I guess the server guys are still mucking around. I wonder how they do the server upgrades - the same kind of error in the USA and also Australia. I wouldn't think they do a patch on the fly ... I imagine they announce a time for a server mod.

By the way I am hard wired too but until this upgrade my GT Sport pre race speed check always reported one category as being poor. Now its approving all the factors and now the race feels the same as practice. Which is a huge upgrade for me. Shame though that sometimes there's not many cars. But curiously the fields are closer matched in qualifying times.

Great lap @TRL LIGHTNING! Tried the Audi aswell but couldn't really handle the oversteer exiting Senna S. How do you feel the very edge of the tyres between maximum traction and going sideways? I guess getting too slow on the gas is my main problem improving laptimes.

The trick with this car is that you need to be as gentle as possible.also not shifting down as aggressive as you can. As for the acceleration the same
 
Doh, up in the middle of the night again I grab to GT for some distraction. I give the HDi fap a try in qualify mode since it's still 15 minutes before a race starts. I'm getting a feel for the differences in handling the first lap and don't realize I cross the finish and set a Q time :( I turned the console off right after however too late. 1:26.667, a fitting number. Can't erase it, but should still start me in the back at least.

Darn, I lost a place to a 1:27 Q time. Only 11 people (9 after loading) for the 3:30 AM race. SR.A and SR.S. (A to D DR is a given now)

That could have gone a whole lot better. First I run into the back of a R92CP at Ascari. I'm adjusting my brake point, having driven that one plenty times myself, yet perhaps this DR.D driver is racing on hards. It's not catatrophic, just enough of a bump to make him go on the green in Ascari, 4 sec penalty for me. My fault, compensate more in lap 1.

Then I pit in lap 5 thinking I'm in lap 6, so take on too little fuel. Realizing my mistake after pix exit I'm not paying attention to the road and go wide on the way to the first chicane, then again in the corner after fiddling with the fuel display grrr. I end up fuel mapping to make it to the finish in 4th. Tire wear seems quite a bit better on the HDI fap, yet so far it's slower with all my screw ups. -3 SR.

4 am room, 15 entries, SR.S to SR.C. My crappy Q time has me start 8th, in the middle of the danger zone, great. And yup, I get double rear ended at the chicane and later a B/B driver bounces off me while I'm fully alongside, apparently not using radar. White S, 3rd place, would have been second if not for that penalty from the SR.B. I think I'll go back to the R92CP. Out braking radar less SR.B drivers is SR suicide.

4:30 am, back in the R92CP. Clean race bonus for me despite getting rammed by a DR.B driver 5 times in a row until he gets me off the road. He crosses the finish with 14 sec of penalties, ramming more people along the way and dropped to SR.E. Why is DQ not working for these people. There was another in that race that dropped to SR.E. Now it seems I do set faster lap times in the HDI fap, guess I'll give that another go tomorrow. There's more to gain from drafting when you're not the fastest on the straights.

Jajajaja, as gentle as possible. I hate the R18. And it really is a mystery to me how on earth you can manage to get that laptime on this car in this track? Unbelievable. Respect to you. I've been working on Interlagos since two days now, haven't been able to get lower than 1.33 yet. I gotta improve on the mid section and the last corner exit. But it is so damn hard and takes patience man.

Entered 3 Daily B’s this morn and got kicked from 2 by network error during pre race qualifying. Very frustrating when you only have 1 hours all weekend to play and most of it is wasted by an error that they not only have not fixed but have made worse.

Ah well, that’s me for the week. Enjoy your racing folks.

Oh and just a note to say once again how sorry I feel for the guys who are trying to race clean at the low end of A/top end of B DR, when looking back at the replays for cheats, once I got past the top 5 or so, I only saw some incredibly bad driving, just so dirty, it's not even accidental and it's no wonder many people complain of SR drops either, what with all the "revenge" hits. :(

I am DR B SR S and have to experience it every time. In the higher ranks and at the top of a race, things may be fairly fair. But in the middle of a BS field, the anarchy rules. I do not understand why the developers do not finally improve the penalty system and then finally punish the right ones. Maybe they are afraid that many dirty drivers will stop playing. But it's not a pity about that anyway. Right now, many fair players are turning their backs on the game because they are simply frustrated by the many ramming, breaktests, divebombs and dirty tricks they experience every day.

Yes, the level in SR S has deteriorated significantly. Divebombing has become the standard there. The penalty system does not recognize and penalize it properly so more and more drivers do it. PD finally has to improve the penalty system. As long as that does not happen it will always get worse.

It's kinda weird without the south americans, the field gaps a bit which isn't good but no brazilian beetles making me nervous either.
