Doh, up in the middle of the night again I grab to GT for some distraction. I give the HDi fap a try in qualify mode since it's still 15 minutes before a race starts. I'm getting a feel for the differences in handling the first lap and don't realize I cross the finish and set a Q time

I turned the console off right after however too late. 1:26.667, a fitting number. Can't erase it, but should still start me in the back at least.
Darn, I lost a place to a 1:27 Q time. Only 11 people (9 after loading) for the 3:30 AM race. SR.A and SR.S. (A to D DR is a given now)
That could have gone a whole lot better. First I run into the back of a R92CP at Ascari. I'm adjusting my brake point, having driven that one plenty times myself, yet perhaps this DR.D driver is racing on hards. It's not catatrophic, just enough of a bump to make him go on the green in Ascari, 4 sec penalty for me. My fault, compensate more in lap 1.
Then I pit in lap 5 thinking I'm in lap 6, so take on too little fuel. Realizing my mistake after pix exit I'm not paying attention to the road and go wide on the way to the first chicane, then again in the corner after fiddling with the fuel display grrr. I end up fuel mapping to make it to the finish in 4th. Tire wear seems quite a bit better on the HDI fap, yet so far it's slower with all my screw ups. -3 SR.
4 am room, 15 entries, SR.S to SR.C. My crappy Q time has me start 8th, in the middle of the danger zone, great. And yup, I get double rear ended at the chicane and later a B/B driver bounces off me while I'm fully alongside, apparently not using radar. White S, 3rd place, would have been second if not for that penalty from the SR.B. I think I'll go back to the R92CP. Out braking radar less SR.B drivers is SR suicide.
4:30 am, back in the R92CP. Clean race bonus for me despite getting rammed by a DR.B driver 5 times in a row until he gets me off the road. He crosses the finish with 14 sec of penalties, ramming more people along the way and dropped to SR.E. Why is DQ not working for these people. There was another in that race that dropped to SR.E. Now it seems I do set faster lap times in the HDI fap, guess I'll give that another go tomorrow. There's more to gain from drafting when you're not the fastest on the straights.
