I unexpectedly gained a position in the A race today, just before the finish..... there was a "ghost" car on the track, crawling at really low speed to the finish line. Obviously not run out of fuel so what would that have been??

WooHoo! Made it to Tuesday morning still holding strong in 4th, I expected to be bumped down to at least 6th by this morning. :)

Edit: Spoke too soon, Lester found a way to get those last couple hundreths, down to 5th. That didn’t last long.

.077 was it, I don't think a sub 47 is possible unless you cheat somehow...
So because soneione has gone quicker than you they must have cheated?

Why not just download his lap and watch it?

He races in our community. He's a quick driver. Why not accept that?

PS. He's got 8 kids and runs 3 businesses.

Random disconnect I would say, had that happen once or twice in the past myself.

Good day yesterday though only 2 races completed, Race A for both races, a 1st place from pole and second race I finished 2nd
though probably would have been first but had a major blocker so played the safe option.

DR up to C though so at least back to getting some more points for FIA races.

I’d say it was meant more as a joke man, no need to get upset about it. Great on him for going Sub 47, that’s one hell of a lap! :)

We can’t download anyones lap outside of the Americas, someone would have to upload it from the EMEA region for us to see it over here, I’d love to see it though. :)

I made the same observation yesterday. Players in top places are either pulling off the racing line and letting cars pass as the race begins, driving into pits in a Daily A or B (no fuel use) race, or waiting until the final straight to pull over and slow. It is quite common now, with this happening every third race or so that I am in (DR C and DR B). My guess is that they are racing but and having fun doing it but intentionally giving up places to reduce their DR. That way a fast driver will find himself in a lower lobby and have a greater chance of a pole and or a win. Just my guess.

I see that happening too.

Just got my 2nd win, and first fastest lap! Held the lead for a few laps before bobbling and getting shuffled, survived the bumpfest from 3rd to 6th, clawed to 4th for final lap. Ran 48.075 for FL, almost my QT of .003. Actually finished 4th but the penalty time of the top 3 gave me the win. So here here to clean racing!

But all they need to do in order to get poles, fastest laps and wins is re-set themselves, That evidently is very easy to do.

I suspect it might be to increase sportsmanship to get bumped up into higher points lobbies for the FIA races.

Thanks for the replies all. Thing is this was a "ghost" car, semi-transparent so I don't think it was a "real" driver waiting around. Darth-tails might be right, but why would the "ghost" stay on the track, and go really slow? Anyway, not complaining, gained a place and going to check if I got any points!! :)

I only got one fastest lap in my journey to SR.E and back to 99. You're not the only one doing it, pace is all mixed up over the DR/SR ranges. Actually the easiest way is to drop into the 80-89 SR range during prime time. The low SR.S room is somehow the slowest across the spectrum.

I skipped SR.C though since Suzuka promoted me from 1 to 61 in one race lol. I did get a lot of wins on Bluemoon bay when I was stuck in SR.C from all the draft bumping. (I qualified back then, starting top 3 every race in SR.C)

@seadog777 - Real drivers will ghost if they drive enough below the average speed. The same way you ghost when you slow down to get rid of a penalty.

@ShiftingGears / @Melbourne Park - I'm SR99 so if they are in my lobby they are not trying to increase SR. Tanking the race totally or even a reset would effect the SR too but dropping significant DR to bring you from DR B to DR D would keep your SR.

Thanks 6BK, that's probably what happened. Penalty, what's that ?:)

A penalty is an extra level of entertainment that PD wrote into the game code. It's where somebody uses your car to slow themselves down, pushes you into a wall and then you have to figure out how to get back onto the track, catch them AND do it by driving slow enough to let a timer countdown 5 seconds. It's very fun and requires a skill...and patience...that is truly demanding.

Two race Bs for me tonight, both pretty tragic. I managed to better my trophy time by 1.5s with the NSX. Never felt quite as comfortable with the NSX... the trophy you could chuck into corners and it just makes it. I was getting more understeer with the NSX. The Bus stop and first chicane were the hardest parts. That got me P5/16 on an all D/S grid. Second race started P6/14 on a mix of DR/D and C. Pretty reasonable starting places I thought.

First race and the dash to T1 was actually pretty sedate. I had to hold back because I had the line to jam the loud pedal, but there were cars in the way. I hung with the lead pack and by the time we were headed to the sharp right hander before the bus stop I was in P3 :scared:. I had some contact with P2 that nearly spun him out, but held back to give him room and maintain position. I was in a good position following him in to the bus stop, but i just had to screw things up. I turned too early and instead of squeaking by the kerb on the inside of the exit, I bounced off the bright orange bit to the right of said kerb. Dropped from P3 to P7 at the end of the first lap :banghead: .

Next lap I was rear ended into the sand and dropped to P9. My only solace was the guy who hit me also ended up in the sand. I was soon after passed by a WRX and I clung to him like poop on a goldfish for the rest of the race but just couldn't get by him. We both passed some road kill which left me finishing P9. SR Blue, Dr dropped about 120.

Next race I hadn't climbed as high, but the fall was just as damaging. I was doing well hanging on to P6 the whole race, till I came to the bus stop for the final time, couldn't find the line and again slammed in to the same bright orange bit. Dropped from P6 to P11. Blue SR, lost another 500 DR.

Another race like that and I'll be down to triple digits :nervous:. Another day above DR 1:nervous:.

Ran a lot of race A yesterday and they were all fairly good. A few dive bombs but nothing to crazy, just annoying really. First race today though.... wow I got pinballed around for the first lap and a half the dive bomed by one of two guy's on the last turn every lap. Also hit a few more times randomly by the guy playing pinball with a one red bar connection. Best part was the guy with the garbage connection telling me and another guy "you suck" in the post race chat....

As requested, how to do a lap of Race A in under 47s. All credit to McGee085. I don't know what the Hungarian for "about bloody time" is but after 98 laps I imagine it was shouted very loudly.

@Invisigoth: Only my observation but it may help you in car selection. The Huracans are very fast around DT Seaside however it in particular can be very skittish with the best time found when letting it slide across the track and finding the absolute limit. I find the same in the NSX myself. Granted faster quali times are good but in the race I've been selecting the car that can hold the line, turn in, keep steady if bumped. Using the Trophy makes sense if you can get a half decent time AND keep it consistently on the track. That way when the faster guys in the Huracans fall off the track, which they all do because they are trying to drive the track in race conditions as though they are still time trialing, then you can take advantage of their mistakes. You mentioned yesterday for example that the Bus stop can be done flat out in GR4 and yes, it can, but in traffic with cars bouncing off walls all around you what you want is the car that can go through it in one piece and most importantly accelerate out of it. @05XR8 keeps singing the praises of the Atenza and I'd agree, not far off Huracan pace for me but much more predictable. Also the Nissan GT-R which actually goes through Bus-stop a gear down for me keeping nice speed and stability.

Of course, I used the Megan Gr4 so the addage "do as I say and don't do as I do" may apply here.

All good ideas, however, I tend to go with cars that most of the time no one else is using. I was the only trophy last night, and in one of the two races I was the only NSX, the second race there were two of us. The cars have all changed a bit with their handling over the course of various updates. At one time the NSX was much more stable. Compared to the trophy it's much stronger in the climb up the hill, but from the last race, the WRX can also do that. I have a policy when given a choice, never to drive the same car for more than one day. Tomorrow will be something different. Probably one of the Yank Tanks :sly:. In the higher DR ranges you might find a mass of Hurricanes, but down in DR/D it's very rare to find one dominant car, people drive what they want. I saw more TTs and GTRs than Hurricanes. Come Sunday I'll probably dust off the Veyron. out of nearly 600 races, I have 4 wins. 2 of those were with the Veyron :p.

Had a good day yesterday. All clean. A few podiums.

1st race this morning not so good. Got knocked out on the uphill S turn, lap 2, from 5th down to 9th. Seemed intentional. Car came in really fast, almost no brakes, bounced off my rear and continued straight through, full momentum. Nasty but it works perfect. Watch your rear view. :scared:

Thanks very much, nice to see he went with the same strategy I did, do as many laps as humanly possible and hope for a really “Hot” lap. His groupings/average were much tighter than mine though. :)
