I'm skipping B this week in favour of Suzuka (Race C)

I'm having a heck of a time trying to save fuel though. Twice I've run out at the finish line. I was lucky to have enough gap that it didn't matter, but it's tight.

I get the penalty for the other 2 cars screwing up. Then at the final corner I get dive bombed into the wall for another SR Down, dive bomber gets the position and no penalty. -12 SR for that race. Is it really so simple that lowest DR always gets a pass?

I ran 50 laps tryin to better my 48.003 so I'm jealous a little. I know I can do it, probably need to run a different track for a while.

Well just to really annoy you then I’m now at 47.817. Like most laps though once you brake 48 you’ll find doing it again just happens to be the new norm. I’ve just watched @Pigems 47.4 lap and he uses totally different gears to me so I’ll give that a go.

My strategy for race C is to do race A & B.

Well, just feel sorry for us guys in New Zealand and Australia, and also there rest of Asia, bar the Japanese for Race C. I think they know this circuit better than us Aussies do. I love the circuit, back from GT4 days, its always been great, especially the snake curvy bits after the main straight. The hairpin is a doozy too; and the curving approach to the secondary main straight is also a fascinating test.

But ... the Japanese - on world rankings so far, they have 27 of the top 30 times for that track. Of the top 13 places, they have 12 of them. Of the top 12 places for qualifying for the race so far - they have them all!!

But on another "achievement" - look at race A's best in the World times at the moment:

That Australian has had only two races ... His pole record is impressive - 100%! His race best time record is impressive - 100%! The gap between 2nd and 7th best times so far is 0.125. But the gap between 2nd and 1st is 0.223 ... hmmm

I wonder what goes on with this "new" talent ... I think currently this driver's DR status is an "E", from his 897 points. So far ... ;)

That's the state of the daily B atm. I'm driving 3.5 sec off my pace avoiding the chaos. Twice I had to slow down for irresponsible track re-entries, both times losing 5 places as nobody else cares. I did get the clean race bonus. This is not racing.

I see you and the winner are the only ones with a blue SR rating. That means you are a *really* dirty driver yeh? :lol:

Does that mean you're doing a no stop? If so, please elaborate. (Car, strategy)
 
I switched to Suzuka for the 6:30 pm race. The bus stop is best avoided at the peak of dirty hour. Suzuka was messy as well, however a wait and see approach and pitting in lap 6 to pass the draggers paid off. I set the fastest lap in lap 8, finished 5th, 10 positions up, with clean race bonus, two stars!

The problem is you need other cars on the track to 'guide' you through safely.
 
I just pulled a 1:59.8 at Suzuka with the 2017 Lexus.
Felt inspired by someone from the European server, so I wanted to give it a run.
I don’t know what it is about this Lexus, it just drives good, both the ‘16 and ‘17 cars.
 
A whole lap around just to retry the bus stop again was getting old quick, I totally forgot I can do it over and over in Curcuit experience without having to go all the way around again. Down to 46.8 without making it through clean yet, and I thought it was easier this way. :lol:

I just wanted to practice the line more than anything, repeatedly lol. 4 lousy tenths was all is was worth, though I keep effing up the final corner when I get through the BS well cause I have too much speed. I just need to get used to the track I think, more laps will help, I hope. Down to 46.4 now. :)

I have trouble with the last turn, too. Also entering the esses, I keep braking too much or not enough, and probably not in the right spot. At the bus stop, I don't even attempt it at full throttle. I lift a little, to get the car rotating. I might get down to 1:46, but that's probably it. Fun track to race on, though. 👍
 
Welcome to the jungle. I strapped on the combat boots and charged the big guns with just a knife! Damn the torpedoes!
1 race b and then a race c.
Race b Started six, of course behind one of my southerly brothers (or sisters). Of course he’s all over, hazards off and on, driving a Huracan lag bouncing all over. He was so everywhere I couldn’t get by and braking for his (is it a ghost or not?) lost me a couple spots. Also brilliant I am picking up orange arrows, I guess due to proximity? Finally after the red Huracan ghosts entering the final turn only to reappear powersliding around the outside I got a run and passed into the first left...I shot myself in the foot though getting a bit deep at the bottom of the hill for no real reason except fear of the laggy guy taking me out, so he bumps by more orange down, then bins the chicane even though I backed off well before that causing me to bounce off the wall...
So basically bad luck stuck behind bad connection guy.
Race c I began 8, pretty good race, had a 911 try to wipe me out on spoon though...I was definitely taking bullets, luckily they only hit me in the buttocks...The Army said that was a million dollar wound, but I ain’t seen a nickel of that money yet...
Anyways picked up 2 spots in that one, but sr stands down 7 overall. I am gonna ask the magic 8 ball if I ought to try to fix it with another race c or live to fight another day...
We will see...
 
My normal race week is that if I race early, I get belted up and loose both SR and DR. By the end of the week I am faster and make up to where I was before. I will just do race C this week because I now miss the speed of a GR.3 car. No sure which brand - I guess likely the Audi, or the Porsche, or maybe the Lexus but that will be a test as I haven't raced a Lexus yet. I've done some laps changing with the revs not more than half way across the red rev band, in the Audi. I figured I shop learn the course at partial full revs. The Audi has a good top end so revving more I'll be faster. But if I started with my current time, I'd be half or bottom third and I reckon I'd get beaten up back there. I'd rather start further up and be fast enough to avoid the hitters and hopefully not stop, and after the stop I could relax, take a coffee and just cruise to a comfy podium, and then count all DR points I get awarded.

One can always dream.

Same here with the Esses, I can never figure that section out going either direction. I was lifting slightly half way though the bus stop too just before the exit, I only got through clean a handful of times though. Do people lift in race?

How has the racing been going? I haven’t done a single one yet, I kinda got caught up in the time trials for A lol.

I did shave another couple hairs off of A though tonight after getting fed up with DT Seaside lol. Not enough to catch @suprajef but damm close. :D

I always lift in the chicane. It's rare that I'm not behind someone there so I wouldn't even know if I can make it full throttle. Too close behind someone and you can't see the turn in point. Plus any slight mistake is fatal.
 
I haven’t played GT in a while, so maybe this is something people do now? On race B, while finishing the first lap, the driver behind me got a better exit from the last corner. I stayed to the far left of the track along the entire straight and he got closer to me while drafting. But instead of passing me, he gently bumped into the rear of my car. I got a 5 second penalty. I hadn’t moved my car over to block, I was going perfectly straight along the left edge of the track. Does this happen often? Was this driver exploiting something here?
I watched the replay and it’s clear he did it on purpose, and there would be no other reason to do this.
 
I lift slightly as I come to the rumble strip on the right, then feed back in going through. That’s with fr gr4.
Too much steering input is the killer, gotta get the weight a bit more on the front for fr to get the turn in. A touch too much steering angle and you’re toast. I dunno about mr. The setup on entry I am finding best if when entering from far left coming in too shallow is a pain, cuz then you have to get the car set for turn in through the bus stop.
Coming through for me done right it’s right turn left and get car to take set , hold very minimal steering angle and use throttle modulation to get the turn in.
The entry to the esses sucks also. Weird camber. I know in the rs01 you could stab the brakes a bit and pitch the car into instantly floored, don’t know if that still works on that car, before they added weight that car was fantastic. For fr what I’ve been doing is kinda mid track with a bit of brake then floor it as soon as you are over the bad camber. You can ubersmooth it by trailing in from wide, but that’s slower in the cars I run than a bit more pitcha and catch kinda deal. I’m not fast, but usually very consistent there.
I lose a ton of time in sector 1. At least a second. I can’t understand how when I watch vids it always looks like on the last right up the hill the fast guys enter shallow, I can’t make the corner unless I kinda square it off on entry. I’ve never been able to figure that area out...

Haven’t raced in weeklies aside from 2 races.

After two horrible races due to people spinning out and hitting me and a disconnect when I had 3rd, I was gonna quit. But my stubbornness told me to keep playing...and I did and this happens...

 
Its like Russian Roulette in Daily B

I'm trailing 2 guys all race and on lap 3 of 4 the 2nd place car goes wide at the right hander before the long esses I go by on the line as he's in the dirt. Im able to carry speed and Im on first place bumper coming out of the esses going down the hill.

Because he sees I'm coming and had momentum on him instead of taking the racing line he holds the far inside line lol I see his play, get on the line and brake a tad early. Knowing his inside line will drive him wide I pass him on the inside but his front bumper prevents me getting on the line for the up coming esses from Hell. I make my cut still giving room but he bumps me anyway, luckily I luck my way and still have the lead looking at the exit this time he's behind me. As I go through BUMP from behind but it just pushes me faster out the corner and slows him down but SR down lol who cares. Last corner I see him cooking going fir the inside so I hold wide, brake a tad early and he skates by me & I go by on the inside.

I hold 1st until the big esses where he cuts to my inside and pushes me off the Track

Sweet reward for following them all race so close no touching. In the dirt as people go by I end up in 8th place
