I tested all the Gr.4 cars that I thought might be usable in the Dragon Trail race (about 15, or so). Unfortunately, the Lambo was my fastest, but I got within about .2 tenths with one of those Michigan-built cars. One pleasant surprise was the GT by Citroen. Not the fastest car, but the best handling of the bunch. At least for me and the way I drive, nothing else even came close, in terms of stability. It will easily slither through the bus stop with no stress. It may be worth using for someone who's having control problems.

Done testing. I'm heading to the track to see if I can use the pit maneuver on Sven. :lol:

I won't drive the Huracan in any race and if I see a Huracan around me, I know I'm getting punted... if I see a Brazilian in a Huracan I run and hide.

I hold 99 sr as much as possible and usually start mid pack.
Most races are clean. It’s a big deal if someone gets aggressive and they tend to get served. I’ve seen it often where a player gets in these rooms first time and gets pens or instigated aggression upon themself. I did this quite a bit before I was able to calm down...
Checking sr record is telling.
I learned how tough it is at lower sr so I respect other s drivers.
Again, racing’s racing though and anymore it’s lex talionis for myself.
I will now always stay clean unless someone starts something. Before I’d stay clean no matter what...
My dr has progressed up steadily but it’s taken time.
I don’t do race after race either. Too easy to carry one races frustration into another if times are tough.
With no system at all I would not use sport mode, although not perfect it’s the best option for me for online.
I ::kinda:: like a league idea, but hard for me to block out certain time slots...
Part of what makes the game so good is the good and bad all together. I think sport captures the essence of a racing experience pretty well for a sim game.

I'm starting to feel that way myself. After almost getting a DR reset a few weeks ago I worried about it and worked my SR back up, driving extra clean, and taking a lot of crap. What did it get me? I'm still DR-B, but can't seem to break through a 22K ceiling. I usually get gridded 4th to 12th with my Q times, and haven't even sniffed a podium in a while (though I had 1 or 2 opportunities). There are almost always people in my races that qualify within a second of the top regional times, and I can't hang with them usually. And the worst? The SR-S rooms don't seem to be any cleaner than the rooms I hit on the way back from SR-D, but the drivers are better at gaming the system. I get tired of being used as a berm, which spoils my race, but lets the dirty person go through the middle of the corner 1/2 second faster than they would without me to bounce off of, and I get SR down on top of it? I may have to start keeping notes, and using payback as a way of getting more wins. See how they like it.

Traveling up and down the SR ranks it has become clear to me that the SR system only manages to separate the sneaky dirty from the inexperienced dirty. And again today, SR.C is cleaner than SR.B and SR.A.

Nope. Didn't see him. I may have to lower my SR to find him. :lol:

I'm signed up for the next one, SR 37 atm. Bring it on!

DT: Seaside is also notoriously bad for dirty driving. It's one of the 'red' tracks to avoid. It has many diving opportunities and walls to save bad drivers. As well as the perfect set of corners to use other cars as a guide rail.

Suzuka is much cleaner due to the inherent risk of falling off the road. Big Willow and Brand's hatch are also much better yet for some reason PD prefers dirty tracks. I bet Tokyo will be back next week or perhaps Monza, the dirtiest of all.

What's the best idea for TCS options for Race A? I like leaving it on 1 since it's a standing start, but should I always be turning it off sometime after that? (I usually try to turn if off around the mid-way checkpoint.) Or is there not much harm in leaving TCS at 1 on a FF car?

I leave it off. Go slightly less than full throttle at the start. The car hooks up like TCS is on anyway. Full throttle and away you go.

@Sven Jurgens As far as you know, does finish position have anything to do with SR?

Raced a couple of times at Suzuka last night. I was planning on racing from the back all week there, but Tuesday in the pre-race, I didn't reset in time and went over the line and set a Q time. (2:04.1) which started me at the same spot I would have had with no Q probably. Since it was up, I ran some laps in a bunch of cars. Did a 2:02.3 in the Lexus and the Aston. Aston was a tick slower, but much easier to be consistent so I raced that. I also liked the Bug, and the 911 was good. My time grided me 3rd, and I got away clean with P2. We had an excellent first 3 laps, with a couple clean position changes, but I started getting pressure from 3rd as we started lap 4. I got a run on P2 coming out of the esses and got too close going into Degner...I missed the turn in and hit the sand. Dropped a bunch of positions, fought for traction with dirty tires so I decided to pit on L4. Needed almost a full tank to make it to the end. Came out and worked my way up to 5th by the end. The guy I was racing in the beginning finished 2nd,:banghead:

Maybe I should take a Valium before I race...I think I'll try some more cars in B and C tonight and see if I can put down some faster laps. I'll have to buy the Veyron to try in B. Any car suggestions for either race??

C race Aston Stang MERC Vette Rexus.
B race no car seems to give me much advantage IF I try again it’ll be vette for me.

I HATE Degner! So easy to go wide in traffic! I’ve run wide there many times over this past year. With your time you should be very competitive. I’d stick on c race and focus on staying on track! I bet you could go for a win if you go ten laps without bad mistakes. For me c race this week is all about consistency. Good luck.

Anyone else been disqualified for "too many incidents"? I got a warning earlier on today, and actually booted from Race A just now.

I'm currently SR:S-rated and really try not to contact, but it seems to be counting actual contacts, so if you've got some tool alongside you bumping you several times on the side, bang! you can be kicked out of the race for too many contacts.

I know it's extremely hard to make a fair sportsmanship system, but this feels like a really bad call from PD.

Uh if you’re having that happen something is very very wrong with your driving if you aren’t doing it on purpose as a kamikaze.

I'm down to high B, now.

Down to C again, 36. I finished 3rd, didn't hit anyone, however every car I passed felt the need to bump me, the SR Downs add up. SR.B stands for bump anything that comes near.

Last one for now, coming up in 4 minutes.

I think you are on to something. The inexperienced ones just don't know where the braking points are while the dirty ones use you as a braking point. In an "S" race, I saw a Brazilian use two cars as his brakes and both of the cars that got punted got time penalties while he drove off merrily 2 positions higher. I saw him right behind me in the next race and as I was braking and steering to make a tight turn, I saw him behind me not slowing down at all. I purposely stop turning and I see him go fly straight by me and into the wall - I then go on my merry way and I see him with a +5 penalty and 5 cars pass him. I knew his tactic was just to go barreling into me and I am glad he got what he deserved.

The cheaters really have found a way to beat the penalty system and it is so frustrating that I only race on weeks with tracks I really like - such as Dragons Trail this week.

I've never been booted for too many incidents, but I did get DQ'd once at Monza for having over a minute's worth of penalties. Hate that place.

How does the GT-R compare to everything else?

What an race A! Had 6 races tonight, first 3 were quite clean. 4 and five had son brits that did not know, that you cant drive thru cars, and in 5 at the 1 st lap last turn got run over by angry punt mob 5sec penalty for me...
Race 6 was the baddest sr S to sr B :P what a joke. Bumbercars.....
so for last 10 days DR down to 19k from 27k, sr S to sr B... Nice...

Tonight is an excellent night to join our practice lobbies to get a feel for how the league works. Practice lobbies are open to all. Look for the snailracing practice lobbies opening at 9pm EST:
www.snailracing.org

SNAIL OFFICIAL PRACTICE TONIGHT
9PM EST

For 3 weeks in a row we've needed 2 separate lobbies to accommodate everyone. So we'll open 2 at the beginning of the night and go from there.

@SAMHAIN85 - Hosting D1/D2 lobby
@Nick Cannella - Hosting D4/D5 lobby

If you are in D3 or have not been placed in a division yet you can choose which lobby to join.

Send the hosts friend requests if you havent already. It'll help find the lobbies easier. My PSN is the same as here. Nick's PSN is: nog3861

Stuck on grid issues: We've had some problems with people getting stuck on the grids. If you get stuck the first time we start the race, we'll back out and restart. If you get stuck again we wont restart. We cant spend too much time on it because we've got a schedule to follow to finish practice on time. Use the time you would be in the race to restart your modem/router/clear cache. If you come back and you're still getting stuck join the other lobby thats open. You wont be with your division mates but at least youll still be able to practice.

Had another 4 or 5 races this morning. They were all pretty decent. None absolutely clean but generally good racing. Was starting 2-5 and finnishing up a spot or two each time, exept no wins. Saved a couple replays but forgot to share them... i had a couple really good moments of racing this morning. Sometimes even a couple laps of great racing can wipe away multiple races worth of frustration.

Put in a hot lap session before leaving for work, and had my best lap ghost available from the races i had saved the replays of. Blew my mind, i had no idea i could do this. I was doing 47.3s and 4s during races without slipstream so i knew i could best my .666 time, but had no idea this was possible. Hit a 47.476 within a dozen laps or so chasing my ghost of a 47.337 or something like that

I blew it on that last one. I got a blue A. Maybe later. :)

SR.C was much cleaner again. Finished 3rd, +7 SR, 43 now. Back in SR.B.

See you later perhaps! SR.B isn't really possible to get past on DT: Seaside while racing from the back.

15K DR, much easier to gain DR in lower SR rooms. Not because the drivers are much slower, they are cleaner than in SR.S. Plus the SR.S dirty ones make sure to take you out where you lose a lot of time, where as in SR.B they just bump you when you get near.

I did a no stop on Suzuka at SR.B (43). Clean race bonus despite getting punted off once (the other car got a penalty, still blue though the the end). The clean race at SR.B was worth 27 points, or 1.29x the base value. Now I'm up to 70, back in the dreaded SR.A

Clean races on Suzuka
SR.E (1) -> +60 SR
SR.C (25) -> +42 SR
SR.B (43) -> +27 SR
SR.B (51) -> +21 SR

@sturk0167 I've seen Mustangs around. The Veyron is getting more popular.

Another Suzuka race, unfortunately I spun out once (damn slippery Suzuka kerbs) thus missing 1 sector SR up, +20 SR for that race from SR.A 70 to SR.S 90.

Pretty much confirmed, below 50 SR you get a bonus on SR earned per sector upto 2.83x down in SR.E. From 51 and up it's the standard amount, max 21 this week on Suzuka and 6 on DT.

Then a whole +1 for a race on DT: Seaside. Back in SR.S, same old bumpers :crazy:

Nice, clean race bonus next, +6 SR and some nice passes
EYriHhi.gif

I love outsmarting late brake blockers

One more clean race bonus and 5th place after a close clean battle with two other cars to the finish line. I managed a better exit out of the final turn and outpaced the Mustang in front of me by half a car length. SR.S is actually pretty well behaved atm. There was only 1 troublemaker in that room. There were only 10 entries though, 6 got dropped at the start.

However, good time for a break, not risking the 6:30 race. That one has never gone well. Back to good old boring 99 SR.

Just had a couple of races at DT. Still no Q-lap. I decided to switch from the Huracan to the Atenza.

Race #1: All C/S. I start P13/13. No issues at all with rammers and morons. Except for yours truly that went sideways facing the left wall going through the right hand corner in the esses. Got rewarded with a 0,7 second penalty. Because...PD :banghead:

Finished 7th.

Race #2: A mix of Dr C and B. All Sr S. I started P13/14. Was worried about the Megane behind me, driven by a Spaniard, but he was surprisingly clean and we worked our way up to P7/P8. Something must’ve happened to him after I passed him though, because he finished 3-4 spots lower than me. I made it up to P6 👍

The best part about race #2 was the butthurt morons behind me. The Atenza is apparently a g*y b****h mobile for re*****d people that can’t drive anything else than a 4WD. My reply was: It’s just as 4WD as your Lambos. But this is a 4-door sedan, yours is a super car.

They left 3 seconds after that :lol:

Couple of Race B's tonight on the EMEA server and there's actually quite a mix of cars being used. Still mostly Huracans but nowhere near as many as earlier in the week.

Im sticking with the Veyron as I'm consistently faster with it. My fastest lap is still in the Huracan but I struggle to get near that time in a race. That and I like using a different car to everyone else if I can make it work :)
