View attachment 801044 @WheelmanSteve I think I have a Gr4 Vette livery made up like this Gr3 just not shared. Not sure if you’d race in someone else’s colours though.
I like it a lot! (A fan of Old #7...) I have the illusion that I'm good at liveries- I've shared a couple. I do prefer to run my own. Running a white GoPro livery on my "4" Vette now, but working on a blue PlayStation version. Might run it tonight.

First race in SR.E, yep much better. The game ghosts people intentionally trying to ram you at D/E level. I had a Brazilian try his best to ram me off road, but he kept ghosting and diving through me until he missed the corner and ended in the sand. I typed "aww, can't hit me" in the chat. Why can't this level of smart ghosting be present at SR.S.

An American did manage to punt me, wrongful SR Down of course, still +10 SR for that race. The race did actually look a lot more civil than some of the SR.S races earlier. The ghosting works as a good deterrent as most attempted punts simply put the punter into the wall. Works a treat to get people to behave. Only 2 red ratings in that race.

Second race, back to SR.E, -3 SR. Unfair penalties happen here as well. The first chicane is completely broken, I always get SR Down there for getting dive bombed. Guess I'll stick to the inside from now on. It's pretty liberating not worrying about any ratings down here and SR.99 is only 3 Suzuka races away.

A few years back I looked over the books you have lists and picked up Going Faster. Great book that I can definitely recommend.

Using my kudosprime stats I'm averaging 20 hours per week on GT Sport. I hear about it all the time from the wife, and when I do, I feel like quoting Andrew Dice Clay.

I’ll get that one next, thanks for the recommendation. :)

For me, after spending the past 6 years trying to get my golf game to a scratch level(unsuccessfully lol), my wife doesn’t mind me racing, I’m home all the time now instead of being at the golf course for hours at a time. :)

Edit: I hadn’t thought of using KP to figure out an average of time played per day played, good idea. I just checked, I average 2.475 hours per DDGA according to KP.

I could probably use them as well. Hopefully I can leaen a thing or two from the books.

I ended up buying the first one(Ultimate Speed Secrets, The Complete Guide to High-Performance and Race Driving) on Apple Books, I’ve made it through 150 pages so far and it’s quite interesting, I’ve learned quite a bit already and it’s only the beginning of the book. :)

It's amazing how much of what you learn from these books and websites like drivingfast.net can be applied to GT.

I need to find a car I can go fast in at Suzuka. Right now I'm stuck in the 2:04's. No qualifying yet, and not very good finishes due to being punted. I had a good result pitting on L6 when I passed a bunch in the pits. Went from 11th to 7th after coming out of the pits, but got punted out of 6th and ended up last or second to last, back up to 12th at the end. I'll play with cars tonight and find something I like. Had fun in the GT, but IDK if it's fast enough here. Couldn't hang with the 911's in the corners when I raced it.

Edit: I always find that the strategy that works best is...go faster!

I am low 2:03 in both the GTR and the ‘16 AMG. Prefer the AMG. Need to see if I have the R8 and try it. I have one but not sure if it’s a Group 4 car.

Had a good race earlier. Made mistakes and swapped places quite a bit, but all the place changes back and forth were done cleanly by everyone. Lost 300 DR but stayed above 22k. SR stayed at 99. Started 12th and finished 11th. But had a tire drop on the outside in the S turns and I spun and lost from fifth to 12th. I was cursing myself.

I’m enjoying my races but man. 2 wins. I’m glad I’m having fun because my win totals are not great for the ego.

Im not salty, your salty.

I've had it with this damn penalty system. First, I qualify 11th due to idiots during qualifying at the Brands Hatch FIA race. During the race, work my way into 5th in 2 laps, get hit trying to go into the pits, get rear ended like 3 times from people trying to divebomb, or use me as a brake, and I get disqualified for too many incidents. I've had it. Just freaking fed the hell up with this nonsense of a racing simulator.

. I bought a new wheel and pedal setup at Christmastime, because it was half-price. I used it for about 10 minutes, and left it to collect dust. I found that it's useless until I can mount it to something solid. I guess I'll get one of those Playseats. Maybe I'll go to Gamestop, one of these days and see if they have them.

I think if I was to go to the trouble of getting a wheel I'd go to a wreckers to get a comfy seat, pick up some steel tube and weld up a frame to mount everything to. Kinda like having things that fit me rather than what some manufacturer expects you to fit. Don't have the space for a rig.

for some reason Kaz is giving me ridiculous door numbers- I was #2 in one race last night despite being gridded 9th and 3 seconds off the pole lap. WTH? In other news, the racing was really good- ran a bunch of events with the same crew. The guys in the black M4 and the purple GT-R are now on my "Respected Racer" list. Still getting odd SR down indicators after being tagged from behind, but the penalty logic seems much more rational. Having fun!

Last night I was given the door number of 15.... there was only 12 in the race .

@sturk0167

You’re not the guy in the pic?! I posted this whole time according to that!

@Groundfish , I've always assumed you look exactly like your avatar ;).

Aggressive racing is definitely rewarded in the lower ranks on DT: Seaside. One race in SR.D I went no mercy, sticking to the racing line and bumped 2 slower cars out of the way. I got SR Down twice in the beginning when I tried to avoid an Argentinian who was driving badly. I got the SR Down for his brake check and his attempt to side swipe me off the road in the esses. Then I went turbo, bumped him out of the way in the bus stop when he tried to lift, murdered him good and drove through his ghost, no SR Down. And in the final lap I bumped a Mexican off in the chicane diving on his inside, no SR Down. I finished 2nd, fastest lap, promoted to SR.C.

It's so broken, no wonder this behavior sticks around. Try to drive clean, get punished. Go no mercy bump people 👍

I seem to get screwed no matter if I race clean or not. It's so screwed up.

You gotta get in where you fit in. Hopped in race c loaded for bear and it turned out to be a nice race. Start 8 finish 4. Laps 6-10 I was hot on the tail of a Brazilian in a Lexus, just waiting and begging for the mistake, but nope, he barely wavered nice driving by him.
Back to 99 YEAH BABY!
Now I can chill.
It’s ten laps which suits me fine, no need to run hero laps, it’s all about not beating yourself.

Am I the only one who uploaded a pic for my Avatar?

Woke up & got me 101 win at DT, earned a lead lap 1 and held it plus made it through Hell 4 times untouched. Whoot Whoot sea of Red behind me.

Mine is a gift from my wife, she made a painting of a scene from the movie for me.

I should change my avatar to the wolf head for racing in SR.C. Tit for tat feels good for a change. I'm taking the night off from only practicing patience and receiving blows. I still end up with blue or white in a room full of red ratings. It's kinda nice in SR.C, honest dirty driving, no sneaky bumps, blocks or pushing off. Very predictable!

Hmm, yeah, it's all those bumps from behind that add up. You have to do the bumping yourself. Actually it seems more related to DR. I got to DR,C and now get SR Down for contact with DR.D drivers.

Just 1 race tonight. Race B. Started 2nd and....

...got my 8th win. And a nice bump to DR B. :D

WheelmanSteve in his Corvette started mid pack and almost caught up. Finished 3rd I think. Otherwise surrounded by Huracans. I get great satisfaction beating Lambos with a VW. ;)

Beginner here. Just 24 races in. Promoted to b/s today.

I read all your comments about the punting and bumping in various races and, is it for the fact that it's just been 24 races ... Or because i'm just a bit lucky, but, of these 24 races, only in 2 of them i saw really dirty drivers.

It's obviously a small sample and also the fact that i'm not pushing that hard yet .... waiting to be a little more confident before trying risky moves on the limit ...

But my experience with dailies has been quite enjoyable so far .... Sure hope it stays that way ;)

That's the truth. I keep getting these side taps as I mentioned some posts back. Just out of the blue. Those players know what they're doing. It gives me the orange arrow.

Nice to meet you!

Don't take my posts too seriously, I seek out trouble, addicted to chaos. For starters I don't qualify and try to make my way up to the podium through the field. That means that if there are any dirty drivers in the race, I will meet them along the way. And one thing a dirty driver can't stand is getting passed.

It also depends on what race you do and at what time. Races are most clean from 9pm EST until midnight. The daily C is usually a lot cleaner than A or B. And starting top 5 will have most of the trouble behind you.

Good luck!

One of my better outings- got my Q down to 1:49 flat, and took the third step on the podium. (Luck as much as anything else...) Next race wasn't as good. Posted 2 Corvette liveries if anyone wants to look them up.

ROFLMFAO

Down At E start in 3rd

2nd place Brazilian in a RCZ goes to the inside turn 1 and pushes 1st place lambo wide twice before making his cut to the apex barely making the corner. The Lambo didn't lose much speed tho but lost position and was right on the RCZ tail coming out the section, BRAKE CHECK the RCZ slammed his brakes right after the little kink way way way way before the brake zone like a real jerk. Lambo hits him and loses momentum so I go by him, the Lambos hit on the RCZ at no fault if his own gave the RCZ a boost so the RCZ holding 1st. Im on his rump all the way to the chicane from Hell, coming out he rubs the wall and scrubs speed when I make it through fast.

When I go to pass him he swerved in front to block my pass BUT my tanked stats are SR E lolol GHOST I drive right through his car like HAHAHAHAHAHAHA BUT he's still on me, I make it to the end of the lap and all of the next lap with him sniffing my tail pipe but not close enough to do anything. Then we come up to the right hander before the long up hill esses he's right on me goinv in the corner then as I hit the Apex his stupid arse goes to punt me GHOST he slides right through me off the track and in the dirt while I carve the corner and hold the lead for the rest of the race. 102 in the bag.

This system is so backwards its not funny. Here I was getting targeted and they could detect the malicious hit GHOSTING the cars. Only because Im SR E tho, if I were SR S I would of been smashed and then punted to the moon.

He left right away while I laughed and said "can't touch this dun dun dun dun"

Safest way to win is stay at SR E. Take wins as they try to punt you but can't lol

Thank you for the encouragement. I won't know what I'm really capable of until I can get off of the D pad and button inputs. I bought a nice used one years ago on eBay. In fact, it’s the GT5 Playseat. Works great.

Saw the Vette liveries. Very nice! Saw the Penzoil Mustang yesterday too. Great work on all.

@Gersicer welcome to GTP. At or near DR B in 24 races is commendable. Well done! Penalty system can be very annoying and crap players more so. After a few hundred - or thousand - races of it some of us here will let off steam with a rant. It’s not perfect but it’s a decent effort to manage races without live umpires. I personally drive in a way that is as fast as I can go while still making room for both. At times it means I’ve given up places or not made moves in order to race 100% clean or to outright stay out of the way of bad drivers. Generally therefore results can be average but chaos minimal. Probably the complete opposite to @Sven Jurgens

Had to take a day off yesterday due to "personal issues"*

*we are having both my sons bedrooms decorated so they are sleeping on mattresses in our room because of the paint smell. Missus goes to bed early (GAME TIME), my eldest decides to climb in bed with my wife and choose this exact moment to wet the bed for the first time in 2 years, so I knew when the first question I get from my wife is "where the hell have you been until this late", using women's logic its now suddenly GTS's fault that my kid wet himself and we have to air out our mattreess and dry clean the duvet.....!! I now have to prove I am not addicted :lol:

@drummingcat: Of course, if you'd painted the room when she asked you instead of playing that bloody game then the paint would already be dry, the boy would be in his own bed and the wetting would probably not have happened at all so if it's not your fault for playing tonight it most certainly is for playing every other time before it.:D:gtpflag:

also a beginner
As far as I have noticed, the races generally go well if I qualify top 5/6, people drive less dirty up front. There were few exceptions, but now I focus on qualifying well, and passing the first tight turn as fast as possible to avoid rammers. Normally dirty drivers (in EU mostly spanish, french, russians) lose a lot of time in the first turns, so that's the place where you can get distance between you and them.

Yesterday I had one cool race (race B), I drove fairly well with only two mistakes: one wall, and bumping a Brit in front of me in the last turn of lap 2 (weirdly I did not get any penatly for any of these incidents??). I slowed down so that he passes me back as I felt guilty. I did not manage to pass him again, but it was cool tight racing, I finished 4th and the dirty ricers stayed at the back.

It's funny that everyone seem to be using the lambo because they think it's the best, I'm just using it because it was the first Gr4 car I got, I liked it and I made a pretty livery on it so I have not tried anything else yet. I guess I have to try something else to increase the diversity in the gr4 races

I probably have to switch car on race C - been using the Toyota FT-1 but its soooooooooo thirsty :)
I am part of the group that doesn't use the meta - which in race C seems to be the Porsche again.

I always liked the R8, but the tires just burn to fast this time.
So maybe, another loved one: the Lexus prototype! :)

maybe it was when you said 'what the hell... why do i get a 5 second penalty for my son wetting the bed?'.. that tipped her over the edge.
