You have to pit once regardless. Hards won't make it the entire way while maintaining pace.

I've had some success with Mediums for 5 laps and Hards for 8. The Mediums really fall off at 7 laps. The hards are slower overall, but they maintain pace for longer.

I'll try this, thanks. It sounds like a more safer/consistent strategy over Mediums for the remaining half of the race. Yeah, I feel the tires (at least, on the Autech) are really taking their toll on lap 5/6. Admittedly I've almost lost control on several occasions even after switching to TC2 for the last few laps and I've noticed others spinning off the track as well who I assume have stuck to Mediums.

I took a run at Fuji tonight in the GTR, got my time down to a 1:31.0 using TCS 2, I don’t know if I have the patience in me tonight to turn the TCS off and do it proper. These cars require so much attention and focus to drive them properly without it. :)

@KONTRAone That’s one hell of a lap on Fuji, well done Sir, well done.

I learned Fuji when golding the Circuit Challenge, and thought I'd make a go of it in qualifying. I stopped after 8 laps or so.

I can't get good at a track that I hate.

I hated Fuji with conviction all throughout GT5 and GT6. My least favorite real-world track. Since GTS has such a small track list, I’ve been giving all the tracks we get an earnest attempt at mastering them. What I can say about Fuji is the lines are so strange, it feels like your lap is going wrong, even when you’re right where you need to be. Last time we had Gr.2 @ Fuji I got into Top100 qualifying relatively quickly, and that earned the track newfound appreciation from me. I won’t be partaking this week, but I suggest you give it another shot.

Ty sir! Felt good to get up on the board again :) My optimal insists that i can do better though so i'm hoping to put in a few more laps after FIA and see if i can find another tenth or two.
You're right though, these cars demand your full attention, especially on worn rubber... my nerves needed a break after my last race there lol

I wasn't a fan of Fuji either when it came out on GT5, but after you force yourself to learn the track and it's unique flow it starts to grow on you.
It is a very tricky track though... Nearly infinite lines to take and connecting corner to corner is absolutely crucial. Plus that last section is a pain lol. So much time to be lost in such a short distance :banghead:

In the GTR, I start with HF and MR, box end of lap 7, then M. Or box lap 6 and go with Hard. The front tires are eaten up pretty fast for me with brake bias at -1(Front). I lose 2 sec per lap with all hards.

That lap is about where I ended up last time we had this combo. I hope to get into the 30's this week. I know I have it in me since my optimal when I did the 31.8 last night was down to s sub 30.7. I did a few laps tonight but another 31.8 was it, and I was sliding around way too much. Drove the Alfa from the back in 3 races at Tokyo (5th, 6th and 10th) and my brain couldn't get up to speed for GR2.
I've watched your laps, seen you drive the beemer in the A race...turn off the TC! I think you'll find yourself adjusting your exit line a bit so that you're accelerating in a straighter line initially, but once the throttle is open and the weight transfers, you can feed in steering and it holds. On the downhill left (T5?) I crack the throttle to roll through the apex, but once clear of the curbing I mash it (no finesse here!) As I head for the outside curb since I'm pointing straight it hooks up, then I feed in steering to keep it in bounds. I'm even using 1st coming out of T1 most times now. I think you'll be suprised how much the tires can take if you initially gas it without much steering angle.

I got down to a 33.3 on Race A so 4 tenths improvement last night moving from TC2 to TC1, that's with weak ABS though, may try full ABS and see what that does before going TC0 as for me that's just like trying to ice skate in ballet shoes.

However I need to race in TC2 as I would end up in the wall at the kink on TC1 with other cars around me until I have had much more practice, or maybe a TV with lower input lag. It means I am slower in the race, but as you'll see from below, the rooms dont help..........

I came across my first DR Re-setter last night, I know because from his profile he has 35 wins from 100 races but still DR D and a kudos prime graph that looks like a heart rate monitor which I checked as I am still considering reporting him.

Race 1, I start 3rd, this guy (lets just call him the German for sake of nomenclature) is 4th, he passes me in T1, so I follow him for a few laps until he hits P2 and I pass both of them, next lap he bumps me at T1 but I get away, next lap the leader loses it at T1 and I get stuck behind the leader as he is all over the road, I slow so I dont hit him and the German passes me again but carrying 15 seconds of penalties. He then immediately tangles with the guy in first and I pass them both, I am checking in my mirror and he is repeatedly ramming the guy who was winning who immediately quits the race. I win the race, the German finishes second but with 28 seconds of penalties which leave him dead last.

He quit the lobby immediately.

Race 2, I start 4th and the German is 5th, I made the mistake in the pre-race lobby of telling him to calm down, beginning of lap 2 he doesn't even attempt to brake and hits me at full speed, and causes me to spin, I recover to 5th, on the road he is third, but guess what, 15 seconds of penalties leave him way down and he is getting all aggressive with me in the lobby afterwards.

Race 3, I have taken 4 tenths off my quali time so now have a 2 car buffer, I start 6th get a good first lap up to 4th, but I can see he is up to 5th, run up to T1 on lap 2, I'm ready for him, I brake in a straight line no turn in and slow right down, and watch him fly past me as he was aiming for where he thought I was going to be, he hits the wall at full speed as I calmly turn in and drive past him, he's obviously irate because I can see him him ramming other cars trying to pass him in my mirror, so bad he ends up in the pit lane and then quits.

Muppets like that completely ruin the game for others. Just in 3 races he completely ruined about 9 other peoples races, yet he had only gone from SR B to C.

I swear PD are just being lazy with their daily races now. We need different combinations instead of the same ones like Group 2 at Fuji, Group 3 at Maggiore, Scirocco One Make on Maggiore Centre, Group 1 at Le Mans and so on. Why not Group 1 at Bathurst? Group 2 at Interlagos? Combis on Broad Bean? There are many combinations that PD have either never tried or tried once, like Group 3 at Sainte Croix. They need to keep things interesting or people will just leave the game on the shelf.

& @Dogwolf77 Want a choice of cans?

I have not had much time at all this week. Did a few hot laps and a test race in Arcade "Custom Race" mode to see what Fuji in a Gr2 with worn tyres is like. Bizzarely it only goes up to Time 10 tyre wear in Custom Mode while Sport Mode has it at Times 13 so you can't even replicate that. I did think it was a bit "Spinal Tap"...tyre wear here is 3 louder.

However, while we're posting our glossy pics I never miss an opportunity. Really I only want to race this week so I can show off some stickers after a week of stock livery in Daily A last week.:D

They need more tracks. Good tracks. Spa. Sebring. Laguna Seca. Infineon. Circuit of America. VIR. Road America. (Maybe getting the one in Wisconsin and one in Georgia mixed up. But BOTH). Lime Rock.

And that’s just the one EU track and American tracks. I’m sure there are so many other great tracks from around the world.

Is Sport just a half a game to tide us over until the next full game? Seems to have less tracks and cars than 6 had. Now I’m having a ball, but there just seems to be so many great tracks that we are missing. The inclusion of them would offer such a better array of weekly races to choose from.

I always run the Suzuka/Bathurst/Nurb races and prefer Group 1/2/3 races to one make, Group 4 or N anything races. Even so, this week the races prompted me to finish up the skills and missions (had already completed tracks) and work more on the career events. I might run the last mission again (four laps on the combined Nurburgring tracks) as that was a blast in the Corvette. And hope we get a track I like next week. My first week of online racing a couple months ago was the Tokyo one with the sharp chicane coming down the hill after the turn. That was a hard introduction to players just slamming into me as I’m trying to take the proper fast line through it. Now I’ve lost my tolerance to Tokyo events at all. But they have one more often than not.

To be fair even if they just included the tracks they already have it would be great. I won't race Tokyo so that excludes at least 1 Weekly race every week because at least 1 form of that horrible course appears every damn time. But we all know the list of great tracks both real and PD created that seem to be forgotten in Sport Mode.

Do we know why that is? I don’t know the history or statements by Kaz about Sport. Is it just a filler between more complete GT games, 6 and the next one (be it called 7 or 8 is Sport is really in effect 7)?

Seems like a new Forza And Forza Horizon comes out every year, and a GT every five. And yes, I like GT better, as it seems like real racing compared to a game, but still.

Oh, and I’m spreading the disease this Thursday as I am having a freind over to drive my Playseat/Thrustmaster Ferrari Alcantra T300 setup. He has a 2017 Shelby GT350 R model he tracks and has been bitten by the track events bug and wants to race more. But that takes money and free time and of course, our tracks are seasonally limited due to winter here. I jokingly told him “I get to race every day” and then showed him the books I’m getting to learn to race better, and he is intrigued to see how good it is. Plus he doesn’t really race, he runs around a track keeping lots of space between him and other club members just enjoying his car to a higher speed than legal on the street.

He hasn’t even driven it yet and is making a list to go shopping on Amazon. I’m guessing he starts that before he leaves my house. Lol

One last track suggestion, which I know I’ll never see again is the Pikes Peak Hill Climb. The version they had in GT2 was a very short version of the real deal, but since I live so close and have been to many of them, I dream of the full course both in dirt and paved with modern vehicle physics and current graphics capabilities. I work on flight simulators for a living and the new visuals are so much better than older ones we have. I am getting a new visual system on my sim this year (A320 sim that’s about 20 years old). New 777 sim I heard we paid around 34 million for. And yet I’m still dreaming about a full Pikes Peak track in GT.

Anything Different in dailies since the patch or maintenance that went on last night?

Penalty Improvements or possible but I doubt track limits adjusted?

Seeing as how I'm touched in the head, I decided to do Race C again tonight. This time with the '08 NSX. Qualified P11/17 on a mixed grid of DRs.

Started out ok. Made a few places from people over cooking it at T1. I was doing ok up to P9, but then the tyres started to fade. The '08 realy shreds tyres! I changed tyres lap 6 and went out again, a few positions down.

I was in a constant battle with another two cars, both seemed to be trying to avoid contact. Near the end I made contact on a corner with one of the other drivers and nearly knocked them off :guilty:. I backed off and waited till they got stable before going for the chase. With the slightly slower speed of the '08 version and the excessive tyre wear, the best I could manage was P13...which is a shame since my door number was 2 .

SR still 99, DR dropped about 500. One more finish like that and it's down to DR 1 again. Another day above DR 1 :scared:.

Race right before this was split half Can & USA the other 4 from Brazil and it was silly Brazil attacking US + Can Drivers (video soon)

Then a room without any Brazil Drivers

All Bluuuuuuue

Getting tired of them wannabe Senna's without the talent living vicariously through GTS

Side note how is it 2 Drivers got no DR at all? Possibly they actually got none? Is that even possible?

Was there an actual path or just server maintenance? Normally I would be able to tell you of any changes by now, yet this week, ugh.

Hopefully the patch says there will be a dedicated race D every hour, Nurb 24h 5 laps for the rest of the year, different car class every week :)

That just means they didn't make it back into the post race lobby. Disconnected after the race results finalized, yet did not make it back into the lobby. When it shows --/E grayed out it means they disconnected before the race results were finalized.

What I dont understand is how they get to S SR and then divebomb without penalty. A Brazillian in the last daily set would throw blocks and dives and get NO penalty at all while I get penalties for event breathing on him. Its llike the lag was helping him avoid penalty at times too.

Trimmed my time down to 33.030 in the hour or less i had before the severs went down last night. Doing some laps while waiting for the furnace guy this morning (all good now) i got my optimal down to a 32.997. No time for racing now, but i am gonna run laps till i hafta leave for work to see if i can cash in a 32.xxx

Yeah and some weird penalty killing by some people too, penalties disappear but dont even seem like they lift.

Uploading video of some Self induced justice on a dirty driver.

Mean time Im taking a break and watching Speed Zone AKA Cannonball Run
