That next one was good again. Started 4, like all so far tonight. Watched the front three slowly drive away as i also made some space behind me, finish 4...

That's it for now, the wife will be home any minute. Dinner and stuff to follow, I'll be back later. Hope all your racing is as good as mine was so far tonight.

I had issues at the back. First time today that I had to use the letters f and u in the post race. He hit me about 10 times, and I hit him once, but I made it count. :D Hope he's in the next race. Yes, I'm vengeful, in case you haven't noticed.

If only this game had voice chat like Forza, lol. The anger can flow.

I just had two hellish races myself even getting punted off before the start line. SR tumbled, but at least I'm starting at the front again.

Your SR letter needs to match your next DR letter to level up, however now you are A/A you can drop to A/C. However if your SR drops below 15, then you will get reset to 20K DR, B/C. And as soon as you did get promoted you got the 1,500 level up bonus.

Ahhh, I see. Thanks for the info. I did get there in two races like I predicted. The first was a triple star win, though I didn’t get many points because as I was still a B/B I was being matched against lower rankings for the most part.
The next race I got moved up against mostly SR. S and a mix of DR. S, A, B, with some lower DR at the back. I started P3, finished P2. I was wondering why I got so many points from just moving up one spot but I didn’t know you got 1,500 points for moving up a level, so that explains that.
Thanks Sven
Have a good one

I'm still treading water at DR B and have to say the computer has been kind. 3rd time I've dipped to the low 10,000 range this week without dropping. Drop is inevitable.

Also 2 races today where driver pulled over for me. In both cases I felt they didn't need to but did anyways. Just now a driver with a Mexico flag, hit me unintentionally, I went off, waited for cars to go by and the other driver waited to follow me. Finished 2nd last but still felt good knowing there's some classy people out there. :)

This Saturday late morning, we went for a long swim in the salt chlorinated pool, then had lunch in front of the TV with my wife and then she went off for a shower and I enrolled for a Nurburgring GTS race B ... then I went to clean my glasses - Oh OH - things are still blurry. The clock was ticking too ... put some eye drops in - ha that's it ... sat in the seat - but thing are still blurry. Time to get out - but i miss out. Where am I??? Third or 4th? Uh huh ... then it switches to the race track ... two cars in front of me. Is they guy behind fast? I think I know of those up the front - he's fast. The race starts. is pretty blurry ... I hope my eyes are OK ... don't get a penalty because I won't know what it is ... I hang in there in third, form the blobs, its probably 1 to two seconds. Someones behind me too but they drop bak in the latter part of the race. The lead car has a time penalty it seems - I come 2nd, 0.2 behind. Who needs vision? 839 DR. I'm up to 27k on my 2nd account. Now I gotta fix my eyes. No more driving this afternoon ...

By the Mountain, I feel nothing. For in my own beemer, every nut and bolt is broken....Yeh mon. It be another day on de Mountain wid de 'erb and all of @Pigems dubs :p. This week, aside from the ritual sacrifice of a Mustang to the Mountain spirits for the first race, I've been going with cars that i haven't race much, if at all online. Today's victim was the M6. Couldn't beat my Supra time, but I felt better in my own skin with the M6. No pesky DR/Bs to push me around. P7/19 on a mix of DR/Cs and Ds. I could see the guy behind me was one of the people who pushed past me yesterday.

Auto drive cuts out just as I was at the exit to Murray's and the dash for crash into Hell Corner begins (cue the opening music for the Mortal Kombat movie...). A couple of people stuff it and I gain a couple of places. By the end of lap 2 I was in P4. Lap 3 I bounce off the kerb entering the chase and end up mowing the lawn. That drops me back 4 places. With dirty tyres I get sideways at Murray's and loose another couple of places :scared:.

I manage to scrub the tyres clean and the chase is on. Somewhere along the way I picked up a 2s SR down penalty for being rear ended at Skyline or the dipper, or somewhere around there . I got the fuel light warning at the end of lap 4 so pit at the end of lap 5 in P7. The hards were still performing well. I changed to mediums anyway, because as we have previously established, my driving is a bit shyte and I don't trust myself to be able to make them last the whole race. I came out of the pits P8 and the guy in front was one of the people that pushed me off yesterday. He had fresh tyres too, but he became a road block on numerous occasions. I harassed him for the rest of the race and had to back off every time we came to The Cutting, the Esses, Forest elbow, The Chase, Murray's Corner and Hell Corner. He was such a road block that I just couldn't get a run on him to get past . I had to keep backing off, but a few times even that didn't prevent a collision :banghead:. After 3 laps of this I finally managed to get beside him up the inside on Mountain Strait headed to Griffins Bend on the final lap . He reluctantly conceded after he realised I was not going to back down . By the time I got to Skyline I had a 5s gap. I cruised past someone who had spun at The Chase and finished P6 :D.

The guy I did laps with was driving a Ford GT. The M6 had no issues keeping up. Even with my crappy driving, tyres and fuel consumption seemed to be good. SR went up 2, and I got all the DR I lost yesterday back... with a few hundred more :dopey:. Another day above DR 1 :).
I got to tell you, your recaps are always hilarious! You should write columns professionally, if you’re not already.

If the track is not R8-dominated like Maggiore or Suzuka, car diversity exists even as you get closer to the top. It's more immersive when there are different cars on the grid :)

The Mountain is a fickle mistress. The R8 wouldn't likely be dominant for a Race C. It's wicked fast and turns well, but for most drivers, terrible with tyre wear.

Has anyone tried the Ford GT on Bathurst? I qualified and got my fastest time with it but I'm somewhat reluctant to race it since I've no idea how it handles tyre wear. I also don't think I've seen a single Test Car (assume the McLaren is favoured over it) in the lobbies I've raced in this week.

I've had two races at Bathurst this week fighting a GT. I can only go off the driver I saw, but it seemed to be a typical Yank Tank... good in a strait line but not much else :p.

<draws circles in the dirt with big toe> aww chucks :O.

Oh tell me about it. It's like the guys from 13th and down realised they weren't going to place well and just set out to be cocks. The guy in the white McLaren F1 just battered everyone on Conrod, and I got a 2s penalty for being T-boned by the GT-R when he dropped it at the last corner and punted me into the pit wall a lap after literally smashing me off the same corner.

Were you on hards?
I got hit a few times, and was amazed that I kept a blue SR! I started 17th, then when I let you by, the guy behind you decide to ram his way past, pushing me wide - that then let the guy in 20th past. I then made all the places back up on the way to the finish line due to all the penalties!

Some people can't handle the McLaren in the corners, so they pull away from you on the straights, and then hold you up in the corners. They also think that, because it appears to be the fastest car, they will be fast too! I've tried it, but it's 2 seconds slower than the RCZ for me.

I was on mediums.

Wow, what an idiot. You have much more patience than I do, I’d have “helped” him find a nice safe spot off the track somewhere where he couldn’t bother anyone.

So, this is the online mentality that I despise.

Sven did the absolute right thing and backed off knowing the player ahead had a huge penalty and on crossing the finish line you would be ahead a placed.

Yet @Pigems wanted to be what this douche was (a knob) and seek revenge.

Why?

Using DS4. But switched from D-pad to left stick for steering. That's helped. Also I learned a bunch of places I was braking that I didn't need to, by watching @suprajef's replay. Thanks, Pokey.
I'm about 5 seconds faster than I was yesterday, but that's probably just due to the new paint job.

STOP using left stick and use Motion Steering instead. It's far more fluid and 'realistic'.

My prediction for a full on Japan week wasn't TOO far out! Better get to grips with Autopolis.

Can someone send a reminder to PD about allllll the other tracks in the game they never use

 I figured as much. Its handling is so-so in places especially around The Cutting (for me, at least) and with worn tyres, that's probably asking for trouble.

The only disappoint is Fuji (again). I'm very tired of it. It's not that it's a bad circuit, it's just generally very uninspiring to race on. I don't have statistics but I feel this track is selected a lot more often than others. What happened to Sainte-Croix? A beautiful track yet I only recall there being one daily race on it which was after its release.

Thanks Sven.
We had a pretty close race a couple nights ago. You started on pole and I in P2. It quickly turned into a two man battle with you winning by around 1.5 seconds. It was a really fun race. PSN is bforce3169.
Anyways, while I hope to stay at DR. A I’m not sure I’ll be able to. I’m now probably going to be up against racers must faster and better than I am which means I may be starting in the backfield (ugh) but I’m certainly going to give it my best shot. When this has happened as a B/S I don’t move up or don’t move up much and my DR drops.
Over the last four months I’ve really tried to stay up high in SR, which has gone well for the most part, but I’ve had some “issues” with dirty drivers and those all too familiar BS penalties (getting hit from behind, hit by people trying to get back on track after messing up, etc.).
That’s one of my main pet peeves is people trying to rejoin the race in traffic.
One of my clean rules for myself is if I go off track is to wait for the traffic to pass. I understand that sometimes the car gets so out of control that it can be difficult but most of time you can stay off and a lot of drivers don’t even try, or worse, deliberately try to hit you upon rejoining even though you had nothing to do with them going off track in the first place. Drives me crazy. I’m not a “rubbing is racing” kind of driver either.
I try to pass without contact or EXTREMELY little contact. Racers who use my car to slow themselves down in corners really piss me off, as well as dive bombers. All the usual dirty things I suppose. :banghead:
I’m also a an automatic transmission driver like yourself. I would like to race manual but I’ve got a bad right hand that prevents this on the DS4. 32 years ago a drunk ran my buddy off the road. The drunk was making a U-turn and ran us off the road into a light pole. Totaled my friend’s restored ‘72 Chevy Nova and my right arm which went roughly 7 inches into the metal dashboard. Came out in a Z shape and severed a nerve that went up into my hand as well a breaking both bones. I no longer have any feeling in my right hand and my thumb does not have full movement anymore because the muscle below the thumb never fully healed. Not having feeling in my finger affects my throttle control and I can’t get my thumb to reach the buttons other than the X button without my finger lifting off the R2 acceleration button. I do the best I can though.
If I ever get a wheel I’ll learn manual but right now that is WAY down the list of needs and wants in my household. Not sure I have the room for it either.
Well, thanks for reading my long post if you got this far!!

Have a good one!

I'm glad you recovered (mostly). I am driving manual now, my thumb still works good enough for x and square although I have the occasional 'double fire' where my thumb twitches and I go up / down 2 gears :) Manual is also a slight disadvantage when you are stuck between a bunch of bumping aggressive drivers. Getting bashed around on/off track it's harder to get away from them when you've been totally thrown off your shifting pattern. I'm not sure if I'm actually faster manual shifting, the advantage is for minor corrections in corners, timing the upshift right has the same effect as a slight lift to steer in a bit more.

You can set up shifting anyway you like. I tried the reverse L1 / R1 first, L1 for upshifts, R1 for down. So when you are braking you can downshift with your right finger, and while accelerating upshift with your left. This did not work for me as moving my right index finger up and down quickly made my thumb cramp. You can use a combination too of course, you can map as many things to shifting as you like. Upshift with X, downshift with L1 or R1 or the right stick.

Anyway I switched to manual for short shifting, for the daily A and B it doesn't really matter.

So, this is the online mentality that I despise.

I'm no angel either, however in this case I had the luxury of not getting pressured from behind so I could wait out his antics. He had already messed up my chance of catching the next car with his first move. My revenge there was to give him more penalties, if you look at where he tapped me on the straight, I drove onto the grass deliberately to give him another penalty, as well as the next tap on his bumper to let him know I was just going to give him more SR Downs if he kept doing the serve and unghost thing. Then I only passed at the finish where he would simply get another penalty if he touched me. It works better to send them off to SR.A or lower than joining them there for the next race!

He was certainly enraged as he quit right after, dropping to last

Never got back on the track last night, should be out there for most of this afternoon though.

For those on a ds4... look into thumb stick extenders. I used them and they are amazing for racing games, although they are marketed for shooters it seems. I am not talking about the thin ones that just give more grip but you can get ones that are like 1/4 inch thick or a bit more maybe. I found much better and smoother controll for steering. I also used the right stick for shifting when i used manual, just like my real life autotragic/slap shift, push up to down shift and pull back to up shift.

Hope everyone is having a good Saturday
