Hi!
I believe tire wear and gas consumption are always off for qualifying laps (except FIA races' qualifying cession). During the race, with tire wear grip level might be significantly lower.

Thanks for the reply. I never considered that but it seems to make sense.

Is anyone actually enjoying the skyline today? I think it’s awful to drive it just slides everywhere

I did a few races last night and came out with a win (#27). I like these stock cars as a change of pace. You definitely have to finesse the car around the track. But it's a nice change of pace from the full-on race cars that are rigid and drive with a more on rails feel.

I have notice (while spectating in lobbies) that people generally do not use radar. How can you possibly have any idea where your opponent is without radar and a rearview mirror? Right analog to look wont help you mid corner...

I never use radar. If you worry too much about what's behind you, you don't pay attention to the road in front of you and that's not good. It's up to the guy in back of you to pass you. I use chase cam so I can see cars coming up on me sooner than with other more restrictive views. I also have surround sound so that helps too. If I see on the leaderboard that someone is close to me I'll do a quick glance back as to not leave the door open in turns. I won't flat out block someone, but I will make it difficult to pass. Unless of course they are obviously faster than me, than is better to not put up as much resistance so they don't use the chrome horn on me. :D

Ah  fair enough

You smashed your SR down 2 brackets and got a DR reset.

I'm not oblivious to that my friend, I lagged out and my TV reset randomly, that's what I don't get. Never has happened before.
The goal of the game is to race, not "level" up. DR is representing your race pace. Just enjoy DR:B and if you eventually move up to A great. If not, so what?

People need to stop with the DR hunting. Not everybody is fast enough to be a DR:B, A or S, no matter what you might think.

My goal was to get Dr A as the game was matching me with Dr A/S players for the past two weeks and I rightfully should be a Dr A if it is doing so. And I achieved that goal now. And I enjoy racing, I don't go out my way to try winning, I'm a clean and patient driver and don't have many wins. And I don't care for Dr S but it might come eventually.

TBF Chase cam is probably the only good excuse to not need radar as you can see your blind spots.
But for every other cam angle, radar is necessary when there is tight racing and you need to know whether you can cut tight to the apex or whether you have wheel overlap with the guy behind you and you need to take a wider line to keep from spinning yourself.

Its is also up to the lead driver to be aware of their surroundings and prevent avoidable collisions. The concept that "It's up to the guy in back of you to pass you." so therefore its ok to trust their intentions is a bit crazy to me. So many people will just force their way inside when they think they are faster than you because they just brake late. Thats what radar is good for, to know if they have enough overlap for you to adjust rather than to stay on your own line.

without radar I wouldnt be nearly as successful at clean door to door racing, but again, i use bumper cam not chase cam

The only problem with the radar is that our cars are not triangles and I really often misjudge how near another car is to myself :boggled:

Anyway, I decided to take out the AMG for the last races of the day and as my qualifying lap wasn‘t that great I ended up starting in P15 and P17 on the two races I did. In both of them people took out themselves and I was able to avoid all carnage for once and didn‘t spin out by myself  I reaced P4 in the first race before unfortunately getting turned around and rejoining/finishing the race in P11:censored: The second race however saw me in P6 at the finish line which made up for all the losses of DR I had in the 5 races before :O

dont get me wrong, i misjudge all the time, and anyways the radar only covers the immediate area around the car so if they are on the radar they are right on top of you.

All its good for imo is to alert you that a car is in your immediate vicinity and to let you know how much overlap they have. thats about it. everything else is feel, looking around, and mirror work.

The the radar system may not be optimal, but a poor system is better than no system. Like your eyesight, you may not be 20/20 but fuzzy is better than blind.

Its a devil to keep the car from sliding, but this means that a tiptoe, no slide approach means that in BB bracket I got pole and a win by a mile, because everyone behind was sliding around all over the place! (my clean race was ruined when a ghosted backmarker reappeared JUST in time to trigger a silly penalty for me)

Have you set your cars to BoP?
Of course. I set to BoP in custom race. And I never tuned it up in all races. I mean, I don't want race in sport mode so often, and lobbies sometimes suck. I can say race againts GTS' AI in Pro, at any case, enjoyable than racing against players in lobbies. In custom race, I can learn how to keep the pace, maintain the gas (if you do this in lobbies, 90% you will get bumped especially at Tokyo's tracks). I don't blame online play, I like it too. Again, what makes us "GT Gamer" so far? From GT to GT6, we learned from the AI. So the case is, Pro difficulty is not enough to make you faster driver than racing in sport mode. And I think it will be better if PD add difficulty harder than that.

Have seen a lot of people complain about the lack of gr 1 and gr 3 races. I am sure more people are happy now ? Also the Willow Springs horse was online last week. I hope some people are not only complaining here but can also post when PD is doing it right according to themselves.

Patience wins.

I wish the line-ups would get shaken up a bit more race to race. Five races in a row with the same exact list of players, the lead guy with every lap faster than anyone else's qualy time.

I'm second or third, and the field just stretches. No chance for overtake 'cause everyone is obviously faster than the one behind. It's just boring now.

Be prepared to suffer SR drop if you do today's Gr.3 race, also everyone will lose traction once the tires start wearing even just slightly. It is exaggerated. Feels like you're driving on ice. I'm okay with the tire model now, but it brings about very aggressive behavior by drivers. With an updated tire model I don't think drivers would attempt risky moves. I am fine with it though, other games provide that different feel and GT has it's own feel. The feedback needs to better though, we need feedback from the tires.

i am about to do a qualifying lap and enter the gr3 race, wish me luck !

Got pole on Race B, some idiot forced me off at the 1st chicane and I get a 10 second penalty, WHAT THE ACTUAL F......

Race B is insane for me
I did my first race with no practice cos I just got into the race in time went from last to about 5th I think
I did two laps of quali got a 1:23.3ish
Was on pole for a few races managed to win pretty much every race since the last place start with one or two exceptions where I was punted off still finished top 4 though
Did jump on for one more lap of qualifying and got a 1:22.9
Gone from high 70’s to 89 wins and counting out of about 13-14 races I think
I’m dr S and Sr S
So close to the 91 wins trophy now out of 370 odd starts

89 wins:bowdown:

Thanks aha it took a lotta work up to 90 now hopefully this last race goes according to plan cos I need to sleep

Lol. I wish I had 91 wins. Need 90 more. Maybe I’ll get there in 30 years.

It’s a challenge for sure cos the other S rated guys are robots so your like I think I did pretty well there enters race and your 12th on the grid

It is done!!! In 380 races I’ve got:
91 wins
41 poles
114 fastest laps
All genuine races no dr dropping or sr dropping to win
That’s just over a 1in 4 win rate amazingly

Yeah, Race C is definitely dick. The tire model is a joke, rendering the cars nearly undrivable.

Anybody tried and tested today's C race and managed to do it on 0 stop?
I just had a race, where the second place starter in a Mustang managed to win without stopping. I finished about 13 seconds behind him, in third place while the second place driver only just got within a few car lengths nearing the end of the final lap.

EDIT: and again. This time an AMG GT3. Won by about 10-12 seconds over me. We were even running similar pace for a few laps until he backed right off. I’m a bit wary of trying it, I do like the feel of fresh tyres on a light fuel tank after all.

I'm no purist. I don't have the space for a wheel rig, so just the standard controller. Chase mode for me is what feels most comfortable, but with no mirror option up the top, the radar is about all you have to work with, along with the info about who's in front, who's behind and how far. If I can see the person behind me is 4 seconds behind me, and something shows up on radar, I know I'm a back marker and get outta the way! I reckon in chase mode I'd be lost with no radar. Just wish it had a longer range.
