So far the racing’s nice and clean at Interlagos, here in the Asia/Oceania region. The grid is pretty diverse too, a bit of a bias towards the 911, I’m surpised at the lack of F1 GTR’s and it’s nice seeing less used cars like the RCZ show some competitiveness. I’m driving my Viper, as per- usual, managed to set a banker time in the 1:32.5’s which is serving me well so far, but the positions I’m gaining during the race suggests I have a bit more speed in me.

I'm liking the 4WDs. I got my fastest QT in the Lancer (2:10:2) but I prefer to race the WRX. Surprised I didn't see more people using them in lobbies. Very stable to drive. I'm somehow 1.5 seconds slower in the TT.

Generally because the WRX can't overtake the Audi's, even with a slipstream and the Audi's will smash the WRX. Although through the twistys the WRX always come out on top. I've used the WRX all week as I can't stand the torque steer on the FWD Gr.4's and not at all fun to drive.

Hey guys, 1st post here, be gentle :D. Been reading through this thread over the last couple of weeks but thought I'd dive in. Only actually been indulging in Sport Mode for a few weeks as I only casually play for a bit of escapism every now and again. Been playing through 'campaign mode', if you like, for a while but thought I'd see how badly I compare online! Wow, that's a reality check!

But you know, I'm just playing for fun and getting enjoyment out of it and really appreciating some of your liveries - as a creative, this is what I spend most game time doing... I'm D rated, and considering how mixed up everything tends to get I don't suppose I'll get too far up anywhere soon. Seems like everytime I have a 'good' race and pick up some points, I then end up having a 'terrible' race and losing them all again. Hey ho. But I always try to play fair, get out of the way and avoid contact. I'd rather lose a load of positions because people are better than me or I make a mistake than gain some positions by ramming half the field of the road. And any negative SR I pick up is generally from a mistake, because I'm not particularly brilliant. But hopefully that's appreciated by you guys, in general, let alone if we ever end up in race together.

I'm a controller player, I don't play seriously enough to warrant a wheel. But I reckon I'd be a bit quicker with one. I struggle with the small alterations controller wise, not enough fine motor control - It's full lock or no lock and full throttle or lift and coast! Having said that, if I can set a qualy time less than +10secs vs top 10 then I'm generally happy, considering I don't get to play very often.

But I've really enjoyed some solid progress at Suzuka this week. I normally dread it tbh. Too much gravel. But I've had some fun races around it and I've managed on the whole to find a decent level of consistency (yes, I know it's only 4 laps!) and I'm a bit disappointed I haven't been able to spend more time with it. I've been competeing in the 4C and I was quite content with my 2.16.3 qualy time. This afternoon I finally got a race in with an all D rated lobby - rather than watchiing everyone drive off into the sunset whilst I languish at the back with Sir Ramalot and co - And it was flipping good fun. I started in 8th which meant I didn't have to mess around with auto drive launching me half way through the chicane and had a good race and a good battle with people. Found myself up to 4th at one point after everyone in front of me messed up a couple at a time between the esses and spoon and had good enough pace to keep them behind. I just got a bit excited through the esses myself on lap 2 and low and behold ran out of tarmac on the outside. But I finished 6th which is actually my best result (other than a start from 2nd and finish in 2nd in a fiat 500 fiasco non-event from last week).

Hopefully I'll get to share with guys over the next couple of weeks, what life looks like at the bottom of the ladder! If you'll have me! There's a few of us good guys down here, just trying to have fun and stay out of your way!

Oh, and by the way of an aside, that 2.16.3 was the best qualy time I could muster, after quite a few attempts. But then I smashed a 2.15 final lap in clean air with no slip stream. Not quick by a lot of your standards I know, but I think it shows that if you're in the zone, whatever level, your just in the zone. Get it right in the right circumstances and there's no reason why you can't run qualy times (or quicker with slip stream) in the race.

Looking forward to Interlagos and some inevitable blue flags in Tokyo.
Peace.
love this, you will get faster with the controller, I think it has been said on here before that it is possible to really fast on a controller, I am not in that bracket but am starting to find good consistency using it now.

I am by no means at expert but I ran an 2:10.1 at Suzuka last week and dipped into the 2:09's during the race, the great thing about GT Sport is that it appeals to all standards, if you want to out loads of time into it and become very good, it works, if you are a casual user and just want enjoy yourself then this is also great.

Just don't get hung up on your rating it ruins the fun of racing :)

Is the McLaren going to be horribly mismatched like at Bathurst a couple of weeks ago - where it was about 15mph faster than every other car in a straight line?

So the wax wizard asks "What will it be? BC&S? " Nah.... I'll have a Brazilian :sly:! So.. I put in a few laps with the M3 and set a pretty ordinary time (@Cap'n Jack had better than 3s up on me). On an all DR/D grid, that put me on P5/14 :dopey:. That will change tomorrow.. people will be faster.

The start can only be described as....memorable. I didn't see anyone go backwards, but we did all crawl up to P2. Some cars came to a stop. Mine kinda ghosted and kept slowly creeping through another car... this was still on autodrive! P1 was listed as being in the pits . When autodrive let loose it was pandemonium! T1 was a crash fest 5 deep, so I'm not quite sure how I managed to get through with out any penalty or seeing an orange SR :scared:.

There was one car... P1 I guess who was lagged, so all you saw was a car that kept teleporting all over the place . I came out of T1 in P4 but was later passed after having to take evasive action at Descida do Lago. I got my head down and tried first to keep on track, then focused on pursuit of P4. I was steadily catching him, and pulling away from P6. I managed to collect a penalty by taking about 1/4 of a tyre width too much out of Senna. On the final lap I had closed the gap and had the speed to pass P4 on the section from Juncao to Arquibancadas. I don't think he was actively blocking me, I just couldn't find a space. Wouldn't have mattered, with that penalty he would have finished P4 anyway :odd:. I crossed P5 with my front bumper mm away from his rear.

The weirdness didn't stop there. I got a clean race bonus, despite getting a penalty for track violation . SR was blue, DR went up 370. Another day above Dr 1 :dopey:.

I’ve only encountered a few F1 GTR’s and while they’re fast on the straights, they seem a bit squirrely through the second and third sector, but still a very competitive car. As of right now, the R8 LMS appears to be the more popular car but it’s still a mixed bag. The track is varied enough that anything can be quick.

So everybody‘s going to use the McLaren. And since I‘m not a sheep running with the herd I‘ll be the obstructionist blacklisting this car in my garage for the next seven days. :dunce:

I'm still using Porsche's for everything since the game came out. I'm thinking I should pick another brand just to change things up a bit. What's the worst meta brand or at least, the least used brand in the game? Anyone happen to know?

Interlagos is usually a lot more varied (at least, from past events) since there's more viable car choices. I can see an uptick in F1s but it's unlikely it will be enough to make it a One-Make event. I'm probably going to be using the AMG myself.

Curious to see if in a few days the VW GTi will be the meta again. It did in the previous Interlagos Gr.3 races. Anyway, it's not gonna be my choice as i find it a very strange car to drive. Sticking to my Prototype Lexus!

Got it down to 12.3, T1 is really trick along with the final turn, Sub 12 isn’t out of the question yet. :)

Nice. You're missing a lot of speed out of the last turn. I believe you can go two wheels onto the green rumble strip there, at least in real world laps I've see them use all of the green rumble strip on exit

I enjoyed last weeks’ race with the Supra.
Very fun car to drive that could be a goo track car in the right hands with how fast it is.
Can’t wait to drive the pimpin’ Roadster.

I'm in for this week. Got my roadster time to 1.13.026 in a ha dful of laps before the two races i did this morening. First race was bad, i started 9 and finished dead last. I was constantly loosing time to everyone lol

Second race i tried manual in pre race cuse i felt like the car needed to be in 2nd gear and didn't drop in auto. Set a better time and started 6, moving up to 3 by the end of a good race. So i guess this is the week i work on my manual skills... two questions though. Are you guys shifting early or late and do you bother to hit 4th on the straight(s)???

Then put down a baseline time for race B. 10 laps not a great time but i know i can beat it and it's not embarrassing at least.

Last week was painful, having my absolute best be like 2 sec behind the guys i am usually competitive with on my list.....

Yeah you’re right, the top times go out there too, I’ll keep working on it. :)

A little tip from an old skool TT nerd...
When you achieve a personal best, don't stop to admire the lap. Keep going until you error.
When you quit, you were up on your previous best, so why stop. You're in the zone. make the most of it. 👍

Unless you’re an A+ driver looking for added challenge, why would anyone not use the best tool for the job? :)

fun! challenge!

Victory is also super cool, but achieving it with a underrated car is double fun, sadly I could win with the Nismo Gr1 yet - I think this one will never happen. (I once won at Le Mans with the 787b - what a joy!).

And this week I was able to win with the Xanavi Nismo, its actually an ok Gr2 car.

If I could I would suggest that persons that start a race on the back to use a underrated car with a qualy lap, prety annoying when they come trough kicking the other like 'hey go away, I'm super fast starting in the back for fun, please go out of your driving line - master has arrived and you should not stop him'

Great point, you’re absolutely right! I’m bad for that, thanks for the Tip.

I tried the TT and the Viper on Tokyo and neither faired very well, then I tried the Lambo and smashed both those time by 4 seconds and even I fudged the final corner and braked to early, you can get on the gas so early with no fear of it sliding out. Gonna try the Aston Martin next. :)

I watched Lester's replay, and it sure seemed like his car was shifting a lot more quickly than mine does. How the heck can you make it change gears faster? I'm using M/T.

He has a shifter, that’s the advantage of having one, quicker shifts in H pattern cars.

Shifter vs Paddles in a manual H pattern car.
