Great point, you’re absolutely right! I’m bad for that, thanks for the Tip.

I tried the TT and the Viper on Tokyo and neither faired very well, then I tried the Lambo and smashed both those time by 4 seconds and even I fudged the final corner and braked to early, you can get on the gas so early with no fear of it sliding out. Gonna try the Aston Martin next. :)

He has a shifter, that’s the advantage of having one, quicker shifts in H pattern cars.

Shifter vs Paddles in a manual H pattern car.

I use the clutch and paddle to shift. Still faster than only using the paddle/button to shift, but it can create some problems. Sometimes, I have it poorly timed so I either get the car stuck on Neutral or it makes the car take LONGER to shift.

I really should get the H shifter...

Race C and Race B today.

I qualified 2:11 in Tokyo which put me 4th on the grid. Chose the F-Type with hard tires since I knew it would work as a Single-Stint-race. In front of me three ‚Mediterranian Huracans‘ who piled up at the first turn. I knew this would happen and was really careful. Unfortunately their ghosting wasn‘t there when I was and so I got passed by a Megane other cars and continued as 6th. Staying well behind the leading group payed out as one by one had an accident and I was 2nd by lap 4. I had a Ukranian Huracan behind me, always between 1.7 and 2.4 seconds. It felt like I would finish 2nd (the french Megane lead the race) until entering the double-right-harpin leading to the finish straight in lap 6: BANG! The Huracan ran into me and pushed me straight out which lead to ME getting 4s penalty.🤬 He later apologized but I watched the replay. I got rid of the 4s and finished as I started: 4th. Every driver except for the Megane had a red dot or a label behind their names.

Then B. Qualified 1:34 with the RSR which put me on 7th. Got bumped entering Senna S and thus bumped another Porsche in front of me. Was 9th when exiting Curva do Sol but was back at 8th when finishing Lap 1. I then had some really clean and good racing with a Beetle and an R8 - real fun. I managed to pass the beetle and with pending penalties of some cars in front of me I finished 4th.

For A I just left a Q-Lap with 1:13. Will try that later tonight or tomorrow (No work tomorrow, after more than 10 years we decided to marry and request our banns of marriage tomorrow so we might have a small party sometime in the summer)

I tried doing that but it didn’t seem like it made any difference, how does it work that way? I’m gonna get one too, just need to order it and I keep putting it off lol.

Yeah Daily Races are pretty much unplayable now for anyone who wants to have an actual race, reading through the thread from the live event this weekend a driver noted it was the dirtiest event yet, so if the live events are getting worse, I really can’t see Daily Races getting better any time soon.
I hate the entirety of this week's schedule. In the only day I'm playing it, I found it simplistic and uninspiring and therefore I'm boycotting it from then on. It's over for me!

Second attempt at Tokyo, finished 6th (from last) yet more SR loss. Getting rammed gets you a penalty.... Did PD screw it up even more since the last update? It's the 5 sec wall penalty I got again after getting punted. For some reason the penalty system thought I was in the way? Using my brakes instead of wall riding or ramming the car in front of me out of the way, what was I thinking!

Some dropped to SR.A some to SR.B, perhaps it will get cleaner over time. Of course trying to drive clean lowers your SR as well. Use brakes is penalty

It depends on the car. When we had the Lancer Evo on Nurburgring, the shifting was fast enough (for me) to where I didn't need to use the clutch. For the Eunos, the clutch comes in handy. I keep my foot on the throttle as I press the clutch and then shift... I think. It's something I don't think about too much haha.

Yeah I’m gradually moving this direction as well, honestly, the racing is much cleaner and there are some unique combos and great races to be had. :)

speaking of, those were some pretty good races we had the other night @Pigems. I wish I would have saved the replay of the Maggiore West battle we had. I was live streaming but that was my first attempt at it and I didn't have the settings right so the quality is pretty low, but man that was one of my better recent races. You and Ahmadi1986 were great to race against, very clean and sportsmanlike.

CoolZee often hosts lobbies and lots of people join them regularly, if you add him as a friend he'll probably message you to come join when he's hosting. Hope to catch you on the tracks again soon!

That was really fun eh!! I can’t even remember what we were driving now, Gr4 maybe? But I may have saved the replay, I’ll check. That was a wicked race though, we were all right in it the whole time battling it out cleanly, it was so nice. I’ll have to add him, I’ve seen his rooms a few times now and they always seem to have at least a half dozen guys in there or more, and I like how it changed combos after every race and that it’s a vote. I’ll definitely be back for more action, that was a blast man, Great Racing!

I think it was your first race in the lobby, because it's reverse grid and you started first. I had won the previous race at Monza, so I started last (8th or 9th I think). It was Gr.4, you were in the Huracan, I was in the Corvette, Ahmadi was in the M4 I believe. I think I'm going to go back to using mostly the Corvette and the Viper in Gr.4. Now that I've revisited them as a much better driver, I really like them a lot more.

Did some laps on tokyo, daily C qualy got my time to 2:07.523. Not sure if I want to race there :D
Did small mistake on T1, still quite ok time. This is like that bmw in BB circuit, keep throttle on the floor, and be super smooth on steering.
Also noticed, that you need to turn in corners way before you think.

Managed just one race C on my B/S Euro account today.

Took the Porsche for a spin on medium tires and started 18 of 19.

A no stopper is very easy, with lap times around 2.12 dropping to 2.14's towards the end.

Tire wear is very good on the porsche, with the rears hardly wearing out. The fronts get to half and half red & white graphic, but it never feels squirrely, unlike a lot of cars I saw floundering around.

Unless I qualify, I know the Porsche ain't gonna win, but for climbing up the leaderboard, it's a great little drive!

Finished 6th, and just one of 2 racers with no red dots at the end. No SR loss either, which was a surprise.

Saw quite a few cars running with penalties of 17 seconds and higher!!!

With the region split for FIA races, do you think I'd have a better chance of getting pole positions/wins by entering those? Or should I largely stick to Daily Races, where I can be matched with Central/South American players? And I feel that the trophies for wins/poles were designed around the game as it was at launch. I.e. truly daily races, the matchmaking system at the time, and the way DR/SR worked back then. Not to mention that the amount of players that are usually in sport mode is around 10% of the people who've bought GTS. Can anyone confirm/deny the former part? As GTS stands now, I wonder if it could be a bit more bearable to get those two trophies if the matchmaking was changed, like if players with the same DR rating were matched, as I am DR B (with ~20k points) and I usually am matched with people with a rating of A - or even S in some cases. Or, alternatively, if the "DR score window" for matched players was modified, like if were potentially narrowed (as I may've implied in the previous sentence) or perhaps widened, with only SR being a common factor. This way, you may have a wide variety of DR in a given grid, but everyone would be an equally clean/dirty racer.

Congratulations on the racing!
Commiserations for tomorrow! (Just joking, have a great day)

I did some qualifying for Interlagos in the AMG, WRX and the 911. I can't seem to break 01:33:00 after around 25 - 30 laps of qualifying :banghead:. I hit 01:33:00 several times, in fact. I know I shouldn't care too much but it would feel so much better to break that elusive time barrier which is kind of haunting me. I'll probably try out some other cars tomorrow. Maybe one of them will finally take me over it.

Managed a bit of TT for all 3 this evening.

Got the one-make-wonder down to a 1.14.4 which I was relatively happy with until I realised it was most likely a reflection on the lack of places I could lose time rather than anything else.

Interlagos was and is a struggle. I've been quite happy around there with the GT-R in the past but just really struggled. So went with the F1 in the end to see what I could do... Well not a lot is the answer. A 1.37.1 was the best I could do for now. There were only so many times I could stomach messing up a lap in the first few corners.

Likewise with Tokyo. I managed a 2.14.2 in the Lambo. I know I've got some more in the tank for that one if I can put a whole good lap together. IF! Not that it appears it'll make a lot of difference if its playing out like destruction derby.

When I get a chance next I think I might just have to dive in with what I've got and try and take advantage of any carnage ahead of me.

I’ve been doing race a. Quali was 1.14. But just changed to manual, and shaved off more then a sexond to 1.12.6 Is this normal, or is it just for the slower cars? Using a pad. I would imaging it gets a bit much in gr3+ cars during race. Also I use square and x. Is this the easiest setup?

Nah, don't race, not worth it. I'm giving it one more shot, yet I'm feeling like uninstalling GTS lol. I'm down to SR.B now (64). Every race I get rammed multiple times, once or twice I get a penalty for getting rammed. The best I could do was a neutral rating, 3rd place with fastest lap. I can pass most of the field clean, I went over the finish in second last race, however with 13 sec penalties from people ramming me along the way.... I'm reporting 80% of the room every race lol.

Fix the penalties!!! Fix the SR system!!! It's not racing anymore it's Tokyo wrecking zone. When a car hits the wall, ghost them immediately and don't give a penalty to the car behind who has no chance to avoid.

One more foolish attempt. Insanity, doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

I turned the ps4 off in lap 2, **** it, done with it.

I’m pretty sure the clutch does nothing if you don’t have a shifter, it won’t disengage the engine until I use the stick. It auto detects; If you stick shift without the clutch, it will auto clutch but the second you push the clutch it switches to manual clutch, until you pull one of the paddles and then it auto clutches. If I doesn’t detect movement or a gear from the shifter the clutch does nothing.
The clutch also does not work with any car that has a paddle or sequential shift or if you change the gear ratios from anything other than the stock manual gearbox.

The slower cars are the ones that I see the biggest time difference with manual transmission. The cars that are Gr.4 and above have racing transmissions, and do pretty well on their own, so probably less time difference. My throttle is the X button, also. 👍

@Sven Jurgens What are the fast guys doing at race C, in regards to tires/pit stops?

I suck at qualifying. Last week on Suzuka my best time was 2:11.493. Regional rank 2363. Very much enjoyed racing though. Stuck with the Hyundai, learned to like that. DR remained flat. Don't think I touched a car all last week. Although I had the same experience last time there too.

Only did 1 Race A today. Entered with a QT of 1:12.979. Started 4th. Finished 3rd. Gained about 400 DR. Almost all blue grid. Very, very clean racing.

Probably will try Race B also. But need to work a bit more on a better QT.

I've done a race or two in Race A and C so far and its been fun, the Race A moreso due to how fun the MX5's are to drive, Gr4 at Tokyo is a bit hit or miss for me right now

Wow sturk I was convinced off the x throttle and it dropped my times a good second. The feathering through corners is worth the week it might take to switch. I had to use AT until I got used to the L2/R2 brake gas as I used L1/R1 to shift before and it was too much going on. Use X and [] to shift now, hard to remember using X throttle already. Worth it.

The fast guys are not racing

I was doing no stops on hards, my best lap was 2:09.something. Fastest lap I saw on mediums was 2:08 yet that's not a good strategy. Either the pit stop or the tire wear will get you. Perhaps if you drive really smooth (and don't get rammed all the time) you can make the mediums last.

The Cayman seems to be the popular murder vehicle. Huracans do nice as well. I'm not seeing much advantage to using MT, except staying in 3rd through T1 and T2. Perhaps AT does that too already. At is probably better, less to pay attention to while getting pinballed through the course.

Btw turning the game off in lap 2 cost me less SR loss than finishing the race :banghead:

Thanks for the info.
For what it's worth (I'm sure you have your own thoughts on the matter), I believe the bad racing you've encountered is a Monday thing. As the week goes on, a lot of the rammers get reset and lose interest, and some will just get better at driving on the track. In that respect, I feel fortunate that my racing is primarily on Thursdays and Fridays. If you're not feeling completely disenchanted by then, I'll run no-qualy races from the back with you. :)

Yeah, it's tough to retrain the fingers and thumbs. I've got a wheel and pedal set-up, that I'm messing with, on the side. 👍

Yeah, it's probably a result of the weekly thing. The dailies didn't used to be so bad (when they were daily) however the longer the weeklies go on the more the competent people avoid racing early in the week and spend time qualifying instead, if not retreating to lobbies.

I'll be back to racing later in the week. The Huracan is very zen to drive on this Tokyo track, just not today

Had a quick blast on B and C tonight, just for giggles. Got a 1:32.5 at Interlagos, so need a bit of practice there to get my speed up.

Managed to get a 2:07.6 in the Jag at Tokyo East, but in the race I wore my fronts (mediums - no stop) out too quickly so lost pace in the last couple of laps (BB was set to 0). Think you might want to push the brake balance all the way to the back if you can drive that consistently. Lambo is the quickest, but I think the Jag is close. Shame there is no fuel saving, as that can sometimes break up the Lambo dominance.

Kie25 drove hards in the race I was in, and he was 1.8 secs faster than the medium racers on the last lap. Problem is that you will be a sitting duck on the first couple of laps so I can't see past a no-stop on mediums in the Huracan for race c this week.
