I thought getting in S/S means the best drivers. But fastest does not mean most respected drivers. When I hear about you regarding the daily races I am a little shocked.

Could it be that most people that are not into clean and respectful driving have only one goal: getting in the highest level as soon as possible. And therefore in S mode there are a lot of not clean drivers ?

If so is staying in B level or A level not a better idea ? I just grew into level A. But have had no races yet with only A drivers but mixed. In B level and driving with B level players I was surprised by all fair drivers and races. If A or S level is not that good, a good reason for me to stay where I am ?

What do others think about this ?

Problem is the matchmaking, even as a DR C you would sometimes get matched with DR A and S, with DR B I was thrown in the ring with 5 DR S's, there was literally zero chance for a top 5.

And yes, when I was matched with similar DR C and B's, races do seem cleaner.

One question: how could he see you stop pitting and reacting so soon ? By seeing the P disappear ? If so, he should have gotten way more fuel than in those 2/3 seconds ?

I PSN chatted with him after to ask what happened.I entered the pit about 0.3xx seconds behind him and left 5 seconds ahead ( which gives him about 5 seconds worth of fuel). He said he saw my pit icon disappear and saw me enter the track and immediately stopped refueling. He didnt pit again 2 laps later like i did and he was on higher fuel map settings to make up for it. He thought he could finish with what he had.
 
Just had the most :yuck::banghead: Race ever. Taken out at every opportunity and after looking like I could finish 12th I literally got RKO’d twice

These people should get minimum 7 day ban for malicious barging

Something else I wanted to share reading all the (complain) stories here: I thought getting into S/S means driving with the best drivers. At max SR.S you'll usually be grouped with DR.S and some DR.A anyway, yet I've also noticed that more DR.A in the room means less respectful driving and you need to pay a lot more attention to dive bombs, last second stick the nose on your inside at the apex and the frequent bump from behind at the apex.

It makes sense, to get to the higher levels you need to win, and driving a bit dirty is rewarded by the game. Higher level players are also better at minor bumps that don't get noticed by the penalty system and will push you to the side off the road as much as they can get away with.

The other problem is that even when you really misbehave at DR.A level or above you will instantly get rewarded with easy wins. Drop under 90 SR and you will be that DR.A or DR.S player starting at the top of a room full of B/S to D/S players. Which also means that as you climb to the top of B/S the DR.A and DR.S players you meet are more likely those that were causing trouble in the S/S A/S rooms.
Plus if they crash out in those mixed rooms, they need to get back to the front asap, as losing against B to D drivers means massive losses in DR, hence you see them muscling through the field to protect their DR after a crash.
Matchmaking is really to blame for a lot of dirty driving.

My pace is generally low to mid DR.A, yet my aggression level is DR.B so I fluctuate between A and B. I don't have that drive to win at all cost, yet I do have the pace and consistency to get into DR.A again. I'll soon be A again for the 4th time.

Yep, that is currently happening to me. I went down to a low S and had easy wins, but then had a terrible race after that back at high S (I kept crashing at Dragon Trail chicane, and also got pushed off twice) and now just sneaked down to A and getting really easy wins. I'm not punished in any way for trying too hard at the Dragon chicanes. I'm rewarded instead.

Another reason I feel there is dirty driving, (sometimes, as I have have far more good experiences than bad but DRA SR:S races should be clean and well driven) at DR:A, is because people think they should constantly improve and eventually get to DR:S, when the reality is, they are not that fast. I'm mid DR:A but don't feel my outright pace warrants that rating. Some players I match against look and race like they are punching above their weight and are desperate not to drop back to DR:B so will dive bomb, nudge and intentionally squeeze players off track to protect DR.

Obviously every player should strive to get better, but nobody has a divine right to a DR A or S. Some people seem to think this is a levelling process when in fact, it's a matchmaking tool. I think it could be a hidden stat instead of a badge of honour type of thing.

Only that Ricciardo manages to not hit anyone, usually planned his move and is then able to pull away :D

Often only because other drivers see it coming and move out of the way to avoid a race ruining crash for both of them. If he was to drive like that in GT Sport he'd make contact with tons of drivers and most of them would knock him clean off in the next corner as "revenge", he wouldn't get chance to pull away.:p:sly:

tbh if I‘m stuck behind a slower driver for several laps I try to pull off a somewhat clean divebomb too, most of the times it works, but sometimes the other driver just steers into me and wonders why he bumps himself off track :lol: sometimes you just can‘t overtake others apart from a super late braking attack ;)

Oh I did manage two more poles and wins in the mostly M4 cup, sounds easy but it wasn't, wouldn't have happened if all the top guys weren't busy elsewhere either. :dopey:

Hopefully tomorrow has a race I can do well in too, otherwise I'm never seeing 62000+ driver points again. :lol:
 
Dr in this game is stupid, gain at least 4 positions every race on Daily Race B against A and S players and Dr is stuck literally at the end, you can barely see a slither. It won't move up to A. And I've done maybe 8 -10 races in a row.

Meanwhile summary of Daily Race B - Dragon Tail :

-S and A Dr drivers qualify really well then in actual race start choking under pressure and braking extremely early slowing you down.
-They are trying way too heard and overshooting corners
-If they lose control they take out frustration on last guy who passes them by cutting them off or crashing them off
-They get offended by pressure and some attempt punting you off if you pass
-Again they are braking way too early and blocking and cutting dirty to retain position

I can literally gain 7 positions a race if it wasn't for them not braking super early like Dr D drivers. I wonder how they got such qualifying times in first place. And I wonder how they have such DR when they crumble apart under pressure.
 
LOL, gain 7 positions and DR doesn't move at all, what a joke. But lose two positions in an FIA race and my Dr goes up....

It isn't about how many positions you gain or lose.

It is based on where you should place, relative to every other player in the lobby.

If you are the highest rated person in the lobby, but you start 16th and finish 9th, you're gonna lose a lot of DR, because you should be finishing near the front.

But if you are the lowest rated person and you start 2nd and finish 5th, you'll gain DR even though you lost positions.

I am starting around 9-13th position against and A/S drivers, and I'm gaining positions each race, it has gone up by looking at my stats on Kudos, I am very close to A now. I could do another qualifying lap for a faster time but I'd rather start in middle.

It's actually a fun course and the cars they've chosen have been solid. It can get a little frustrating when people are knocking you into walls, though. I guess it depends on the driving pool. Sometimes, it goes without incident. Other times, it's absolute carnage. I had to get back at a few people that kept deliberately hitting me from behind yesterday, so I can understand why people dislike it.

Yes, they know that's cheating, should be banned for a short time at least. PD need to do something to the walls to stop this riding too, they are equally to blame.

So, what exactly is wallriding? Because when I take certain turns, I do ride along the wall following the driving line. Am I not supposed to do that?

That explains it. I keep getting matched up with some guy whose time just barely beats mine for pole, but in the race I'm easily about 2 seconds faster than him. I want my poles!:lol:
 
If you need to see what wall riding is just watch the top ten. They don't even try to take most corners they just bounce along the outside wall of the turns.

If you are copying that then you are doing it wrong (or maybe right if winning matters that much), as you won't beat them otherwise.

They intentionally hit the wall in a sharp angle and stay on the throttle, accept the penalty and then get rid of the penalty towards the end of the lap, which costs them less time than the time they gained by driving through the curve at full throttle without braking. They mainly do it through the fast and very fast corners where you usually have to brake (about four of them: corner #1 to the right, the fast corner to the right after the uphill part that is being approached at very high speed, then the right leading into the tunnel, and then the left uphill before the finish after the tunnel).

I actually don't do that. There are some turns in the Central Outer Loop that I'll "tightrope" where I stay on the driving line (I have the driving line enabled) without actually making contact with the wall.
