It definitely wasn't intentional. I was going off the race before when you didn't pit, so I wrongfully assumed I had a gap behind me to pit entry to at least take some time off. I know not to attempt that again now.

The worst being penalties you get for absolutely no contact at all?
Cool. Sorry for calling you a muppet

Different types of track need different rules , I don't understand why PD don't improve some logical "parameter" inside the game [lazynes, timing, cost od programmation (testing activities) or console hardware limits .. wee don't know].

And not only the rules but also the BOP should be related to the specific track in order to have a real balance of prestation avoiding the "one make" reaces with the porsche-megane (911) or BMW-megane (M6) or MAZDA-Megane (Atenza) etc etc

Agree BOP need urgent update. Too many one-make races recently. Gr3 yesterday was M6. Gr4 was M4. Crazy.

The BOP in this form only works for the FIA Manufacturers races as you can't change to the car that matches the track best but have to stick with one that maybe works good on one or two tracks but is **** on others.

I had a race on sunday where I pulled over to let a faster driver on fresh tires through but apparently his game detected that he crashed into me whereas mine didn't. He got a 5 second penalty I wasn't aware of and everyone was confused

The system wrongly detected a crash that never happened?:confused::confused:

Yeah, it does, it seems. If you get close enough to another car with the possibility of the slightest amount of latency/lag between the two players, there's an extremely high chance you'll get a penalty. I got a penalty the other night when a car was rejoining the track that I gave more than enough space to get around and got a penalty for it.

It's the second worst after the penalties you get for minor taps :scared:
Yes, and let me supplement your line: the penalties you get for minor taps of completely not your fault, which you can avoid just by not being there, not entering a race. ;)

I think the biggest problem with BoP is that we can't change gearing. Cars have different gearing by stock so it's not possible to even the balance between cars IMO. The system favours which car gets the most out of its powerband by accident it's just so silly. This causes which track favours which car. If we would allow gear ratio changes right now, I'm sure the balance between cars would get upside down. At first when the game got out tuning was allowed. They should have banned just the tuning not gearing. The error has already been made so it's no wise in practise to change it anymore. Now it is what it is..

Allowing gearing changes would make races much more interesting also. Some might want different gearing to better suit different corners and there would be much more natural overtakes. No need to push like crazy with the same car. Some might favour acceleration in some parts but would lack in top speed etc.

In my opinion this change would be a massive improvement to this game. It would need a lot of BoP tweaking and more test seasons though..

Just this simple tweak to the game and we could pick any car we want, and be able to win..

Afaik, in real life GT3, the gear ratios are locked as well due to BoP.

One could argue though whether this has to be the case in GTS, as the "Gr. 3" ist not officially the same as GT3.

In some cases only the possibility to regulate the differential (LSD) change the behavior of the car (excessive oversteer/understeer) .

I'm impressed. I've been on 1 point though 30 or so races

I thought I was going to find success yesterday but was banged around quite a bit.

Well after 135 races I'm still a DR/D. At first I was gaining points and maintaining steady, but once SR goes up the mismatches start. Not qualifying as high because you are racing against higher DR classes and then getting frequently knocked off by people behind who didn't qualify soon knocked me down to 1 point. I gain maybe the odd 500 points then get knocked back down to 1 the next race. for 29 out of 56 days I've been on 1 point. 4 days in a row above 1 is kinda freaky!

It's almost as if it's a requirement to have one divebomber at Monza isn't it :grumpy:
During the warm-ups people were already chatting about how they're drinking beer (and one even asked where's the brake button. WHAT THE HELL?!).

Chatting? I'm assuming this is some sort of headset thing because I can't see how you can message and drive at the same time!!

I've been in a room.where mass disconnect left only me and another fellow, I got the points for that race.

Yeh my race went from 20 to 9 whilst still in the pre-race comment stage, and I went from 12th to 6th. It was like being back chatting on IRC during a net split .

The system wrongly detected a crash that never happened?:confused::confused:

I've had in the past SR orange flash up on the screen when I was certain I hadn't hit the person in front. Haven't had much of that since the last couple of updates though.

Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit N300 (Genesis Coupe 3.8) 4 laps
Willow Springs International Raceway: Big Willow GR4 6 laps
Mount Panorama Motor Racing Circuit GR3 8 laps 6x fuel 9x tyre

Hmm... even though I'm a bit nervous I really should do race C. It's my local and it's a good warm up for this weekend's 6h. It's a couple of hours short but it's the closest thing to what "The Great Race" used to be....before V8 Super Cars ruined it :yuck:.

Before the finals you can either pause while warming up to chat. You'll autodrive. You can also opt to not warm up at all and chat instead :)

Finally something worth racing, especially since theres no FIA races today.

Ok, didn't know that. Could be that way to keep costs down? Easier to just add weight.. Isn't there always one car that's dominating at first? :D

I agree but then again where to draw the line with tuning? I really like different characteristics with each car so it could get a bit lame to tame every car to behave the same way.. Surprisingly this game has managed to make each car feel diffferent. That's a good thing IMO.

Thanks

Night off for me then :yuck::D

Last night... did the BB Raceway FIA event. Got a 25.3 in practice but couldn't get better than 25.7 in qualifying... track gets so congested with 20 cars on such a small circuit...but it's the same for everyone I guess. Qualified in 12th and had 3 or 4 solid laps amongst a big pack, up to about 10th, when a guy in 6th clips the inside wall of T3, bounces across to the centre section (off track) before deciding to immediately re-enter the track, taking out 3 cars and pinning an NSX to the upper wall of the main bank. I approach the melee and with no evasion possible hit the guy who caused the mess straight up the bumper. What happens? He gets a boost, shooting back into 6th place, I get a 10 second penalty, several others by now have crashed and spun out. And then the worst part... I serve my penalty and when attempting to continue racing, I am limited to about 90mph and the little car map where the tyre wear boxes are is showing my entire front end flashing red - I have about 15 seconds of this before the red flashing stops and power comes back. Who wanted damage? Well, it seems to exist already. Finished 15th and lost 500 or so DR. The guy in question finished 6th and was crucified after the race. Hopefully everyone else reported him too for a) terrible driving for hitting the wall in the first place b) a complete lack of etiquette in profiting from his mistake and c) attempting to rejoin an oval at full speed and out of control in the early laps of a race when there is a big pack.

Should have uploaded a replay. Sounds like fun. And you can then keep the race daa off because your user is more secretive than that injunction against john terry's affair.

I meant to save the replay but I was so angry even after 25 or 26 more laps.

The other problem was a lack of ghosting of lapped cars (again). One of the guys who also got taken out decided he couldn't be bothered to race any more, so instead of just pulling over or quitting he decided to mess around on the track... I saw other ahead going through him, but when I reached him he had just unghosted and I hit him. Gaining myself another penalty.

Edit: Anyway, went and spammed the Genesis race after and got a 5th, 3rd, 2nd, 3rd gaining 1226 DR, so made my losses back plus a bit of extra.

Raced 4 times at DT with my EU account. 2 poles and 2 P3 start. Won once only and 3 2nd. Surprisingly as a beginner DR E SR B all races were clean and didn’t get even one touch at 1st corner or at bus stop. 👍👍👍

With new account, can’t afford to buy a M6 to join the one make at DT. Used the DLC gift car GTR. Lost at least 0.5 per straight. I am not complaining, in opposite, enjoyed the races with limited resources in my garage. A new challenge for myself.:lol::lol: A good time for me to have some driving exp on unfamiliar cars. Looking forward to have more races on this account.:D

Sign up to a manufacturer in the FIA Manufacturer Series and you will get a free group 3 and 4 loan car :) you keep these until you change manufacturer so can effectively have them permanently if you don't change your sponsorship (which you can only do after the current season finishes).

@Robben thanks for your wise word.

Genius

I will try BMW then. No TT in EU for me.

No worries :)

Yeah, you may as well join everyone else in M4/M6

@xxxman1 can you confirm the track on Race A today? Both Jasguer site and GTSportRaces.com say it is Brands GP, but Nutshell said it's Indy...

That is why I think this penalty system is not just bad, but guilty. Because all the kids spending hours with their controllers, experimenting the "behaviour" of the system, learning this kind of solutions, as the successful method. Against all common sense, against all irl basic etiquette, etc.
