Thanks!!!! I think that the best will always be the car that with 500hp will have the lowest weight (ratio Hp/weight maximized) won´t it??
Nobody tried the KTM X-Bow??? It may be raised to 540hp and weight reduced to 718 kg.. very difficult to beat that... ratio 540/718 (on a 500HP car) .. I think!

Try the last few pages on this page, the post in this thread for the KTM set up for Blue Moon

Are you guys upgrading the power on these cars or something? I was reading some of comments from a couple of pages back and everyone kept saying they were getting 1:48s in the GR.2 suzuka race. Meanwhile I can barley break into a 1:50. I have to be lacking in power because im taking the corners pretty well. Are you guys S/S ranked or something? I'm A/S rank.

Car was fixed settings (inc. power and weight)... only variable is driver ;)

You say 'im taking the corners pretty well'... the video below should give you an idea of how far off the car's potential you were in reality...

Here's the 1:47.010 by Wolf_Aono

There's a big difference between qualifying and the actual race. My fastest race lap was over 1.5 seconds slower than my Q lap.

Yes this was something I was going to ask the proper fast guys, what times were they setting in the race. I was off my Q time a bit more than normal too and running behind other cars seemed tougher as well, at least if you wanted to go quickly.

I saw someone say yesterday that they thought dirty air was more of an issue in group 2... well, in this race.

I had the same. It was hard to follow another car closely due to dirty air. I think i was running 1:50.1 in the race while i could run high 48 consistent in qualifying and best was 48.2. But i am always a little carefull at Suzuka in the race. The smallest mistake can end up costing you allot around there. The top guys in EU were running 49.6 or something in the race i believe.

Not exactly the same race, but I agree that the dirty air is a very big issue for Gr. 2
Here's the second half of the Nations Cup Lagos Gr. 2. I was behind P1 most of the time struggling to get the same apex speeds as he does, let alone get past him. I make a mistake near the end of the race and once I got out of the dirty air, I was gaining on him by around 1 second per lap.

Same for me, I was struggeling quite a bit when I was behind another car. Also couldn‘t get below 50‘s in the race

Jeez Meganes everywhere on Race B do i do the same and jump in mine or can i beat them in something else?

The Megane is a great car to drive mid pack in for Bathurst because it pulls like hell on the straight which is where you'll be passing anyways.
If you are on or near pole, you can easily beat the Megane in most cars, Viper, Huracan, Veyron to name a few as these cars aren't plagued with insane amounts of understeer so they can actually go up and down the mountain much faster - but again, that hardly matters if you're qualifying mid pack because you very likely won't be passing anyone on those sections.

Also, the main drawback of the Megane is the insane amounts of tire wear on the front wheels, but with tire wear off that is of no concern.

Yeah my quali got me 5th last time had a row of Meganes in front of my RC F got murdered down the straights, so nothing can pull like they do?
Going to try 1 race in the Renault then try and improve my time get a bit closer to the pointy end.

Edit: 4th on the grid this time and 3 Meganes ahead of me again...

Last time I ran grp4 at Bathurst, the Veyron was fastest for me (mid top 10 qualifying time).

Yep, I wish they could've treated the Megane like they do the Cayman, leave it as an noncompetitive car for quick drivers.

Yes the Veyron is usually the car on any high speed tracks, the Meganes won't murder that on the straights. ;)

The Veyron can definitely hold off the Megane, but it doesn't have the same straight line speed as the Megane.
The Veyron outdrives the Megane on Bathurst and Monza because of it's ability to take the high speed corners so much faster, but I'm pretty sure if we were doing a straight line race the Megane will outpull the Veyron (not by much though).

The key is to make sure you get a good exit on turn 1, as no Megane should be able to keep up with the Veyron down the mountain, but they will catch up to you near the pit and if you get a bad exit on turn 1 they can overtake you.

It's not great to drive... but it's still much better than that FWD POS Megane.

Just need to learn the brake points in it as it's quite heavy... but it rockets up and over the mountain.

I just finished 2 goes at Big Willow. The first race I qualified P6 out of 11 starters. Mix of Dr/D and C with a lonely Dr/B on pole. I was in P3 till I lost concentration on the last corner of the 3rd lap and thought I was still on the first of those two corners. Entered in 6th gear at full throttle. From there I did a pretty decent impression of Crash McRae . Dropped down to 9th. Was kinda annoyed with myself so I went again.

Shaved another second off my qualification time and worked out one part of the equation to getting a faster speed from the 3rd last corner to the last 2. Qualified P5 in a grid of my peers out of 12. I was doing ok till the 2nd lap when in the second of the tight esses I was sliding toward the outer edge....which was currently occupied :ouch:. I could see it happening. Couldn't brake my way out of it, couldn't steer my way out of it. I'm sure someone (I don't tend to notice the names of the other drivers while I'm "racing" ) was not a happy camper. Big orange SR flashes up on the screen, along with a 2s penalty. I finished the race with 4 green SR, still lost 1 SR in the end. Crossed the line P2, and it stuck.

Finishing 2nd would have been nice, but there's still a nasty taste in my mouth. Put out a general purpose "I'm sorry" but since I didn't know who it was, I couldn't direct it to anyone. I'm guessing there isn't a lot of Japanese posters on GTP.

Found this:
"Dirty Air
As air passes over a Formula 1 car’s surfaces it produces a wake of turbulent air that hampers the aerodynamic flow of cars directly behind it. This wake – nicknamed ‘dirty air’ – can be of benefit to a following car on the straight, as the car in front is effectively punching a hole in the air and doing more work.

Dirty air does, however, hamper the efficiency of the following car’s own aerodynamic surfaces, reducing downforce, making it slower in the turns, and limiting the effectiveness of the cooling system."

Thanks for all the advice, time to dust of the Veyron then, the rest of the field seems mixed bit the top 6 were all in the Renaults myself included.

Edit: Managed to shave around 1/2 a second of my old time down to a 2.15.060

Big fan of the Megane. A beautiful looking machine, great to drive and fast enough to floor a Bugatti, Lambo, 458, Viper... in fact anything. This is wholly accurate.

From memory... try slight front brake balance (-1 or -2), and make sure you brake early enough to the make the apex... as long as you're not under steering on the way in, you can pretty much just mash the throttle from the apex with zero fear of losing the rear.

Should be flat from the exit of the tight left, through the subsequent right and 2 left handers, with just a small lift on entry t the final corner before braking under the banner.

Make sure you brake early enough for the left leading on to the main straight... car is heavy, and doesn't like that corner!

Driving the Audi e-tron VGT reminds me of what Gerhard Berger said about Lord March's Ford Galaxy 500 NASCAR car at the Goodwood Revival.

"It doesn't turn and it doesn't stop and I'm not driving it!"
Today is Q time only. No race.:D
