Did a race this afternoon at the Mountian.
I’ve not really got a handle on anything that isn’t GR3 yet so it seemed like the best option, even though I’m horrible on that track.

Started p6 finished p7, pretty good race to be fair, except lap one, on the back straight before the kink I pulled alead of the guy in front, we turned into the kink together, but I’d wrongly assumed he’d back off and understeered into him. Super sorry, idk if he’ll see this but totally my fault and wasn’t intended!
After that I made my way to catch the group infront of me, they where all over the place and I was catching hard, until I made an error and lost ~3 seconds. After that I was on the defensive. The Audi really isn’t great on the straights.

A fun race and some good battles though, once again super sorry to the chap who’s race I ruined!

Details man, details! :p

The guy in 2nd trying to overtake on the outside at the end was pretty reckless. Did he think the race physics would magically suck your car deeper into the inside and slingshot him ahead?

He tried it but the Evo is much better in the corners.

Daily Race C - Final lap.

Nice last lap yet this is not leaving a car width of space
NHRc.jpg

You forced him off as he corrects to avoid hitting you, just before this picture, instead of holding his line.

It started raining so I did some Sunday afternoon racing, messy stuff. I missed the race C entry so I went to Interlagos. I had time to burns and I was only going to do one race there anyway so qualify I did. Started 6th, got bumped all along the way, finished 5th while keeping my clean streak from yesterday, increased to 6. Not willing to push my luck, quit while you're ahead. Too much bumping there.

Then race C in the Vette. It was worse than Interlagos :/ First race I got bumped off twice, finished 15th, 3 positions up as I started 18th without qualifying. Clean streak gone yet still blue S at least.

The second race however a red connection and unstable Mustang driver got me. I need to fuel save in the Vette and it's not that fast on the straight in map 1 already. Even the best exit onto the straight, passing the Mustang, the Mustang simply gets up to speed and passes me again, Drafting one my Vette won't keep up. My bad luck, the Mustang driver didn't know the braking point and started braking hard way too early while driving in the middle of the road. Sure my fault for hitting him yet I'm braking at 180 instead of 150 and still run into him when braking out of his slipstream... After serving the penalties and avoiding other chaos I finish 16th, 1 position gained.

I switch to the Mustang myself since those keep harassing me and manage to finish 4th. 15 positions up, with clean race bonus back to max SR. Next race is a very fast room, clean again, 10th place finish, 10 positions gained with a gap of 0.069 to the car I just passed on the way to the line. Fun stuff. I'll stick to the Mustang for tonight, that can do the whole race in map 1. In the Vette I pretty much need to run in map 2 for the first or last 5 laps.

I think it would be cool if Sport mode limited your entry options somewhat, maybe based on time spent in the cars of that group?
Just to stop people switching cars and then having no clue how to drive them? Idk I remember racing at Le Mans against the Mustangs and got punted a lot in the braking zones/and of watched them go careering off

If you want to stick to the Yank Tanks, you might want to give the Viper a go at Bathurst. I usually get more laps out of a tank and it hangs with most on the straits. I've always done better with the Viper than the Corvette... which kinda makes me sad.

any contact with a car already going sideways should not count whatsoever , you think you avoided him but nope his spinning car hit you in the back and voila 3 sec penalty and 6 SR lost!

I was earlier on the throttle and accelerated better. There was no need that he went off the track. On board it looks a bit different. He said after the race that he had much fun. So i think it was okay.

I just watched the replay of my race, my retelling was slight off  but I had totally forgotten this sweet double overtake!

Shame I couldn’t hold off the Mustang on the following laps, but still good fun

Sure I would be ok with a close battle like that as well. Yet you risked a penalty there, if he had not avoided you, you would have gotten 3 or 5 sec guaranteed as he had nowhere else to go. When I go in a corner side by side I always try to leave extra space just in case. It's just really easy to end up with a penalty like that.

If you use manual transmission, no need to use the fuel map, just keep it at 1 and short shift when the rev limiter is between 1/2 and 3/4.
If you saved a replay when I was here, you can check how I do 👍

Nah, too lazy, 1 thumb and 2 fingers is enough for me!

I settled on the Nissan GTR for now, oops race starting

Hello everybody

New here and only had the game a couple of weeks (never done online racing before GTS) so last night I just did Race A. I had a lot of fun but decided in every race to start last and just see what happens in front of me so i could watch the other players. I'm very average (C/S) but it is amazing how much DR and positions you can gain by not actually really overtaking anyone, but instead just passing spinners and those with penalties. I did notice a few things.

The worst I finished was 7th and two or three times I got a podium (again I didn't pull an overtaking move on anyone)
One player had a right go at me in the chat window for hitting him in the rear end on a corner but I was smashed into by a recovering spinner who didn't seem to brake at all. I had no penalties but this player just saw me as the villain even though I was powerless to stop the contact.
B rated players seem to take it very personally if a C rated player overtakes them.
Most players I saw at least tried to be clean. Rather than being dirty a lot of contact was just because we don't have the skill of the top drivers and so make more mistakes.
The Scandinavian players seemed to have the cleanest attitudes. They seemed to always try and avoid contact.
A lot of Spanish players (sorry if I offend anyone) seemed extremely aggressive and often just barged through on the inside of corners using other cars as a way of stopping under-steer or just as a brake
Why do people get rid of penalties by slamming on their brakes at full speed, on the racing line, on a straight with car following them?

I didn't have the acceleration of some players even if I got a better exit. Is this because I'm AT and they are manual?

But I'm loving the game (having never been on-line with a game before). I've experienced the penalty frustrations - especially being unable to avoid a spinning car - but think it does a pretty good job. Don't think a please all solution would be possible due to the sheer number of variables involved in incidents

Mount Panorama is always fun. I kept going without qualifying again, trying out some different cars.
GJRc.jpg

The Corvette didn't suit me today, best was 15th. However that was in the afternoon with very dirty races where I got bumped off and later ended up with penalties from a heavy early braker. The Corvette also doesn't make it in fuel map one.

The Mustang easily makes it and has great speed on the straights. Best was 4th, however that's skewed a bit as it was in an easier room after some SR loss from the previous Vette race. The other race I did with the Stang I ended up 10th.

The Ferrari, fun to drive, too slippery for me on worn tires. I kept holding people up behind me sliding off the mountain. 9th wasn't bad.

McLaren has better cornering yet slower over all, 12th place finish.

Renault pos, so slow on the straights and not really any advantage in the mountain, useless, 16th.

Nissan GT-R corners nicely, good acceleration and top speed, first attempt I beat my best lap from the Mustang so I decided to use that for the rest of the night. The competion was strong, mostly A and quite a few A+ and S drivers showed up. At first 9th to 11th was the best I could manage. As the maintenance drew closer the fast people started to go to bed while I was also still getting better with the car. Last race was the best with a 3rd place finish, 14 positions up, despite a dirty first 2 laps. I'm getting quite adept at predicting when someone is going to screw up in front of me. Honing that 6th sense to avoid penalties.

I only got one contact penalty in the night races when a car turned in on me from behind, glanced off and scraped the wall. It was only 2 sec, didn't matter. The time I avoided a car and scraped the wall myself was worse, 5 sec for avoiding :banghead:. Contact is cheaper.

And there was this start....
fFxOtBE.gif

One car lagged out, so auto drive piled everyone on top of each other.

Same thing happened in a later race with slightly less drastic results. One car turned into an immovable obstacle before disappearing. stayed long enough to start a chain reaction.

Fun night as usual, always fun on the mountain. SR never got challenged at night, just in the one race with the Vette which was fixed the race after. I can't check DR atm, servers are down. The patch is downloading! 3.565 GB version 1.23

Welcome!:gtpflag:
Great that you figured out the things early in the game, it will be much easier to adjust your strategy further on, especially when seeing certain flags in line-up.
Try fiddling with manual transmission for those exits.

If only I can do Race A right now, slow car fast!!!!!!!! :sly: But yes, I'd love to do Race C too, get ready to goodbye DR :boggled:

Wow looks like I can go for weeks at a time without playing then because the track and car combos are quite often rubbish

if the races are weekly now , why not put MORE races?

like for example , 4 permanent daily races with each class GR1 GR2 GR3 GR4 , and a 5th race where it would be a one make

edit : this is why i could see the future schedule on kudosprime , it jumped to next week directly...

To those of you who've already raced after the update - Is the new tire model really different from the old one - is it easy to spot the difference?

I really do think this is a big mistake. The participation will decrease throughout the week (maybe back up on the weekend), matchmaking will be more varied etc

and it seems like people more often than not, hate the combinations rather than love them, although some of the hate is just because something is so common that it becomes boring.

One advantage is that it is very unlikely for you to miss a combination you love however
