It is ridiculus. Fuji track limits are 🤬. I did my qualify lap in 1:42.8xx in a Huracan. I was very happy with that. Finally a lap with a clean first and last corner. So I went to the leaderboard. 1:39.xxx. Huh? :confused:. Then I watched replays of others qualifing laps. Every single one of them cheated by taking the outside line over the runoff area at turn 10 and the last corner. Yeah so it becomes impossible to get pole for clean drivers.

Yeah it well and truly ruins the integrity of the race.
 
Sucks bottling races because all of sudden you get phone calls and such. You lose focus for a second and you go down almost last from top 6 and accidentaly drag some cars with you.

I like daily b but it's a track that i can't race without care. Just when i thought i was having fun :/

This is the benefit of racing as soon as the new races of the week have just rolled over. 2 races, 2 poles, 2 wins and now I'm a nervous wreck! Even improved my DR by ~1000 which is a surprise!

Had my first disconnect today. It was in Daily Race A and I just managed to get pole. My wired connection was plying up last night so I switched it to wireless for the night. Forgot to change back to wired this morning and disconnected. Sorted out the wired connection after that and didn't have any issues for the next 2 races. Those 2 races were Daily Race B which I actually enjoyed more than I was expecting, managed 2 4th places. For some reason, the NSX seemed more planted than usual. Didn't get a chance to try out the X2014 but here's the setup on it:

Don't know if that's the same setup as what they used in the exhibition event, I guess we'll need someone to drive it and confirm.

- GT-R felt the least nimble of this bunch.
- Viper felt good all around, but a bit more oversteer than the other at corner exit.
- Had high hopes for the Genesis. Nice brakes- it trail brakes through the whole corner with no fuss and pretty stable, but couldn't capitalise. I'd say the competition was tough.
- Not just the 2nd place start in the R8, it's got excellent tight cornering and Mid-corner speed. I was hanging with the lead Atanza, but I was making too many mistakes. Surprised I didn't spin off into oblivion. First time racing one of these in Sport Mode. I think...
- Supra is nice. The gearing is too tall though. A McLaren was catching me easily, on the front straight. Like I was in reverse with the handbrake up. All I had, were brakes and the back esses, to hold it off.
- Sweet sweet Jag. Stable. Fast. I was taking those esses like a straight. Mash the throttle out of corners with no oversteer. Nice brakes. An RSR kept messing me up with one bar. Had to compromise my lines, as it kept skipping in front of me.
Overall, for me, the Jag is best of this crew.
 
Figured I'd do the midnight run for Race C. Threw some paint at Mooby and did some qualifying laps, even though the race isn't for another hour or so. I was having a hoot . Did 10 laps before I realised it. T1 I can manage cleanly, but T2 is a bit trickier. I did find that I was getting better speed coming off the corner if I was able to not go wide like I expect everyone is going to do anyway, since you get no track limit penalty for T1 and 2. I expect much rear ending at T2. Just wish I knew how good the standard was on fuel?
 
There is fuel for days on Race C, i found my tires last ok until around half distance before the risk of flying off starts getting too high and the chances of catching the car when the back end starts getting a bit squirrely become lower, I aint that fast yet but just managed a 3rd on my 3rd attempt.
T1 is horrible in DR C at any rate a lot of contact on all 3 races I tried its just luck if your hit or not, I guess it early days though might get cleaner?
Overall though plus 4 SR after three races lost a little in races 1 and 2 and got it back with one clean run. More fun than I was expecting maybe, the last changes to the tire model have helped the handling as I used to find the Red Bull Standard a bit of a handful.

I will try doing all japanese gr3 cars in that track. I feel the NSX is nice although it really has its moments on handling it.
 
Just finished Race C. What a farce! I qualified P7/13. Mixed grid with quite a few DR/Bs. @brianloch musta been spewing. He was on pole initially, but didn't make it to the second pre-race screen.

The race starts and its chaos. I got rammed so many times, which got me orange SRs as well as those I earned from people braking early and me not being able to pull up in time. I knocked and was knocked off a few times. I made the mistake of not changing tires, and was haemorrhaging time badly in the second half. I was up to P5 at one stage. Finished P10 with 10s of penalties. The guy who was behind me on the last lap (for me anyway) took advantage of me ghosting for P2 passing me and drive through me. I really need to pit for tires next time.

And the damage... which was major. I went from DR/S (86) to DR/B (44). DR dropped nearly 300. Guess I'll be sacrificing DR to get my SR back. I'ts going to be a *long* climb I suspect. :scared:
 
Didn't want to use the Beetle (IMO it shouldn't even exist or at least it shouldn't handle like it handles), so I picked up the Toyota GR Gazoo Racing Concept to put a Q lap around Yamagiwa.

It's surprisingly nice to drive. :)

Nowhere near as good as EU's Top 10 times, but I'm pretty happy with getting into Asia's Top 10 :D
I really don't like that track, especially the flow of the turns. But on my second qualifying attempt I was just a tenth behind 10th, so I just went and pushed for it. I'm glad that I finally met my own expectations once more :)

Definitely different, it was on minimum downforce and also had an increased air resistance value in game. We were doing laptimes in the 16/17s even on the Racing Mediums. It felt like an underpowered F1 car with those changes.
 
Race A - Nissan 300ZX at Alsace = HATE
Race B - Gr. 3 at the incredibly generic Kyoto Driving Park = HATE
Race C - Red Bull X2014 at A1 Ring = Plain daft with all the over enthusiastic rammers

It's weeks like this that make me wonder if PD are trying to stop people actually playing the game and why it completely deserved its lukewarm reviews for its lack of choice in Sports mode.

What cars have you tried?
Considering the time in Asia is 1:33.xxx, I started with a 1:37.501, using the GT-R. The R8 got me in at 1:36.5xx. I'm now at 1:36.3XX after using the Supra. Mind you, I only do one flying lap. Rarely two.... and I'm a casual player.

If I put the time in normal qualy, not race qualy, with the right car, I could probably get near to 10.

You gotta find a car that suits you and stick to it. I spent over two hours qualifying today with all kinds of different cars. Always hovered around 1:34:8xx and just couldn’t improve, then I just said screw it and went back to my trusty Lexus. Instantly felt a lot better and I’m now down to a 1:34:3xx I believe. 1:33:9xx is possible for me in that car

I got this time with just 1 or 2 laps with the NSX. Try seeing what cars you feel comfortable and since it's weekly, don't sweat qualifying while entered.
Or you can watch the replay of some top 10 and have a little of idea.
 
I thought I would be smart and try all my cars for race B in arcade time trial on Sunday, in preparation for this week's race. Result was that I was most successful by far in the Viper, with the Beetle about a second behind that. I got a 35.1 in the Viper (don't laugh).

In the actual daily race qualifying I couldn't get near that time, and realized I'd forgotten to turn BOP on for the time trials ><. The Viper was now totally gimped and the Beetle was the one to use. I still haven't tried Audi, Honda, Jaguar or Renault though.

Didn't do an actual race as I was too demoralized by my slow pace.

Speaking of which, race C - I didn't do time trials here but I did run a single custom race with the same settings to check the tyre wear and get familiar with the car. In those 17 laps my best was 1.13, just about on par with the professional AI. I see the top 10 times for Race C are like 1.05 or so (probably less by now). I presume that means track limits are being abused... yeah not going to bother with that one.

Edit - is there any way to wipe the arcade time trial leaderboard? I will only ever use it to practice for Sport mode so having a leaderboard filled with irrelevant non-BOPped times is annoying as I can't see each cars genuine pace. Does this board get wiped when they make handling changes?

Will need someone to confirm this or correct me if I'm wrong but if you go on the leaderboard, click options or triangle on the time you want to delete there should be an option to delete the time.

Most people say that moving the brake balance toward the rear will help with trail-braking, and I see that too, but it's a pretty subtle difference in most cars.

Move brake balance to the front (-5) and it might decrease your braking distance, especially in front engine cars.

Move it toward the rear (+5) and the car should turn in better while braking. I'm still mastering trail-braking but I get the most out of it when I brake hard initially, then release some of it, but not all. At that point of partial release, the car turns in sharply and in a way, you can apply more or less brake to assist with the oversteer or understeer you experience.

If you're in an MR car, since they already turn really well, some people use forward brake balance to induce a little bit of understeer, making the car more stable.

FF car, you'll need rear brake balance even more to improve turn-in, since they already understeer terribly.

For me brake balance didnt really make much difference until I started running ABS on weak instead of default, then if you have too much front brake the car won't turn with too much braking, the front end will slide and too much rear balance can cause the rear to slide under heavy breaking.

I use ABS default and still experience what you're saying exactly. It took a bit of practicing and getting good before I could tell the difference, but when I was a beginner I always put brake balance all the way to the front (-5) because it shortened my braking distance....but that was before I did much, if any trail-braking. The rear sliding is a big deal for me now that I brake later and trailbrake more under turn-in, that's how I know I've moved it too far to the rear. One car that I can tell the biggest difference on is the Gr.3 Lancer after the tire model and physics update. It turns in like a beast even on 0, so moving it to 2 or 3 can be too much now so I usually keep it on 1 for that car specifically. Most other FR cars I use 2-3. For Gr.2 cars, especially the GTR, the difference is more noticeable to me for some reason.
