Thanks for the advice. Great job on that race. It looks like I just need to start using bumper cam and defending my position better. I have been taking standard race lines and leaving too much room for other drivers to make moves.
I actually prefer a good cockpit view but since its not that good in GTS and it doesnt have a mirror i stick to bumper. You really need to have a mirror when driving in traffic.

What i like to do when i practice a race is that i do a couple of laps driving alternative lines as if you were battling. Figuring out the lines and brake points when you go on the inside or outside of someone. You'll feel much more at ease and in control when you know what to expect going for a move or defending instead of having to improvise it on the go. Also practicing T1 at starting speed can be really beneficial, and of course pit entry if you have to pit.

Great ideas, better to practice these things with no pressure than do them for the first time in a race.

I hit the wall going into the pits on one of my first Catalunya races.

Usually the gt sport recommended line will make it very tough for folks to overtake you.
At Catalunya you can even tighten it and run tighter radius turns with straighter entries to prevent your opponent from getting a wheel in on you.
I ran the c race last night at mid b and there were many a plus and a.
I let one guy get a wheel in and learned from it.
Hold the recommended race line or tighter on entry to avoid tempting the guy behind if things are close.
Often the line you used to get that qualifying time will cause problems in a race.
That said ran a good race last night. Fun race.
Driving clean and maintaining sr is always most important thing. Penalties and crashes are not fun.
I find online it’s better to never present an opening and focus on exits.
Priority goes
1. Know race line by heart hit it every lap then and only then work on speed
2. Know brake zones by heart(late breaking doesn’t save much time but losing out on exit costs a lot of time). Brake early enough every time without cones
Brake reminder text is not a bad aid
2a. Focus on good exits every time
3. Next focus on entry speed.
4. Focus on apex speed
5. Adjust line as needed (fine tune)and improve
6. Never let a driver get your inside
Basically if you do 1,2,and2a you will beat many people up to mid b

Just did race C three times and got deliberately taken out 5 or 6 times. What is with people?

I’m tired of getting knocked back 8 places by someone bullying their way up the grid.

The worst part is not being able to see any of the hits coming. Unfortunately, they always come at turns where I can’t afford to look away.

Any one have strategies for dealing with this?
I've had the same problem even with A drivers. Not much you can do about it.

I was gonna wait until 100 races to post this but 97 is close enough I guess, 25% Win rate and a 75% top 5 rate, definitely a good start. :)

So what’s the deal with A+? KudosPrime doesn’t even show it, but the GTS app does? KP says A is 30,000 to 49,999 and S is 50,000 to 75,000, so where does A+ fit into that? I don’t understand, is A+ and S the same thing?

I found it in the GT Conpanion app, it’s all it give you though so the rest of the app seems pretty useless. I wish there was a global leaderboard for stats and such.

Are you using bumper cam ? Imo a mirror is crucial, with it you can actually see them coming most of the time. You dont have to actively look in the mirror just scan for movement in your peripheral vision.

About dealing with them, i go super defensive on them. Defend the inside as soon as they get in divebomb range, never let them get on your inside, if they do just try to cut back, but whatever you do dont position yourself on the outside of them in a corner, its to much of a risk. This is gonna cost you some time but the strategy is to keep them behind long enough (hopefully just a few corners) untill they mess up or you get just out of striking range, then you go full timetrial mode to drive away from them if you can, if you cant and they catch up you repeat or decide maybe its better to let them go, depending on the situation of the race.

Here's a nice example of a driver i raced yesterday, wont mention his name but this clip from his view shows how i try to defend from him.

It starts when he punts me on corner entry coming from way back. This immediately made me lose all trust in him, notice how i immediately go onto a defensive line in the hairpin, i wouldn't do that with such a gap with a driver i trust. That incident on s/f showed i was right not to trust him as he almost kills us both in a desperate attempt to get on my inside. I continue to defend the inside with succes untill the last lap. Notice how i go a little wide on entry and this leaves just a little space on the inside ? He immediately drives into that space and now i i am vulnerable on the outside and lucky to not crash into the wall. He won that race, and though you could argue that that sucks cause he was not the cleanest driver i should have never left him that space.

That's got right up my nose. Up the inside on that straight with next to zero gap? What's he thinking? Then just runs you out of road on corner exit. I hate this behaviour. I know it's a game..... but this kind of behaviour should be ban-able. It's not a mistake or bad judgement. It's a complete inbred and a win at all costs mentality.

I shouldn't let this wind me up, but the game is far more enjoyable, and has better spirit between racers when things are clean and respectful.

It stinks, but it makes the good times feel better :gtpflag:

I almost forgot, don’t defend if someone is obviously way faster, sometimes you must accept that you are holding people up.

Yes over defend and some clown (including me one time today) will end up running into the back of you when they are so much faster. I think in my case the guy hadn't pitted I'm not sure but I was held up by them and then accidently bumped them off, I was trying not to hit them I just didn't do it very well and the game seemed to exaggerate the hit a bit too. I actually went on to win but it was tainted by that one bad moment on my part which the game only gave me a 3 second penalty for.:ouch::O

I was running from the back on my GTP account a lot today you see, so there was plenty of opportunities to run into the back of slower cars and for them to behave bad too which some sure did and for me to do some dumb things, which happened too. One day I'll verify my youtube account and upload these races, watching them will be an experience, even for me I'd imagine.

I've just looked at a replay of mine from last night I was going to edit up and post. I really don't know where to start. So many idiots from so many different angles and perspectives. There were 5 or 6 of them behind me knocking seven shades of 🤬 out of each other.

Interestingly, one bad move triggers the rest into idiocy. I may just pick the "best" bits lol.

Yes I saw a lot of dumb just whilst driving along, never mind if I'd have saved the replay and checked it.

I think some guys were doing their best A.I impressions and braking or not accelerating after corners and it causes so much pain for everyone, it's so easy for one person to cause problems for many. One person also enforced a penalty zone on themselves by serving their penalty half way down the main straight in the middle of the race sometime, well better than in the slow corners like others were doing I suppose.

Some C level drivers sure know how to do a pit manoeuvre too, clearly they have been practicing. Others just favoured the plain old punt. There was some good and respectable driving too of course.

A bit off topic, but I've finally got 15 consecutive clean races!! While battling hard and close as well I might add.

Never thought I'd do this. Well chuffed
I've had some close, but processional races there just now. x2 races gave me a 3rd then a 2nd. On 7 clean race streak.. Here's hoping I can make it to 15 lol.

P.S Pipped your qually with a 2.26.968 but my optimal was a 2.26.628.

@rono_thomas was on pole for the first race but vanished. Did you DC?
Pipped (and a bit more) your time - I'm now down to 2:26.686 - upped my pole position count and had a few wins also :D:D (optimal down below 2:26.4)

You can now go on the prick list with @Shottah072 lol.

Well done though. I'm finding it super difficult to find more time. I'll just be racing now unless I fluke a better lap in between races.

Hopefully get to race you

Edit: The A+ rating gives you 3 tenths anyway lol.

Anybody on here got a decent time in the huracan in race B??

If so please Add me up on PSN so I can watch your replay, the huracan has disappeared from top 10 so I have no guidance and currently lapping 2:29:500 I badly need it

PSN: Banckzy

Seems like GTR’s, Vipers and TT’s are doing well on that track. I was way slower in the Lambo.

If you get a chance try qualifying the Awful Audi at race A then try it with your DS4, it seems like you are driving a different car the change is so dramatic. With the wheel the car slides so much its almost uncontrollable and its like it has race tires with the DS4.

I was on race A last night. Use a wheel. Ended up spending ages messing about with my wheel settings (Fanatec) trying find something that even half worked for me. Got down to a low 1.30, but consistency was difficult. Tried one race. Started 10th. Finished 11th. Lost DR.

I didn’t think for a second to try to improve my time using DS4.

What's up with the really fast outlaps at Barcelona Cataluyna? I was playing a replay of one race, to check if the track limit bug was fixed, and noticed that the fastest lap was an outlap of some guy. While replaying, in the list of lap times another lap stays blue as fastest lap. Very weird. This guy drove 1:48/1:48, but his outlap was 1:46.

This is normal. I think the game counts your inlap until you drive out of the pit, so your outlap starts counting when you exit the pit. This makes it possible on some tracks to have a really fast out lap, thats also why the game doesnt count it.

Thx! But it was also the fastest lap of the race online I believe.

Yes it happens at some tracks, it shouldn't ever count as the fastest lap though, none of mine today did and I noticed that apparently I did a 1:45.0 at one point.

My fastest lap was really a mid to high 1:46.

Also the corner avoiding is still possible and the leaderboard is still full of a ton of fake fast laps.

I will check this (that is wasn't the fastest lap).

It's really a shame that this kind of things still happen. The reason that I didn't play GTS for almost a year. I come back, and there we go again.

Ehhh... yes and no.

I'm a DRB and if a DR A is sandbagging in last place... yeah, I'm not going to start running a defensive line on lap 2 just to bog him down as it will just cause a massive seperation gap between everyone behind me and the rest of the pack. I'll let him easily pass and chase him until he's in a battle and then gobble up any faster drivers that are being pressured into errors.

That being said, if a DRA driver washes out twice in a race and on the last lap he's on my bumper, then I'm defending like I'm the 85' Bears. I'll even slow down so hard on a chicane that he drops a gear and then rev away. I won't weave block or do any reactive blocking nonsense but I'm making my car wider than DJ Khaled and gritting my teeth.

I was only able to do qualifying for Race C yesterday. Might get on to an actual race tonight. Is anyone else finding it hard to pick out braking points for some of the turns at Catalunya? Turns 1, 2 and 3 are fine, but Repsol has nothing even close to one. The perpendicular markings on the left? Nope, too early. The billboard? Too late. Also, the way the rumble strips are set out for Turn 5 and 7 make it very awkward to judge, albeit in a Gr.3 car. Other cars may be different.
