Myself - I am lately getting penalties but its typically when I try to overtake and I am not clearly in front. The problem for me is that if I try to avoid every car all the time ... it ends up not feeling like I am racing. I want to be clean though, so I am paying more attention to my penalties. Having a reasonable qualifying time also helps, because the further to the front you are the lower the probability of something happening.

Also pay heaps of attention to the first corner. Where is the safest place to be?

I try not to pass at the first corner, it's tricky and conducive to contact. Instead i use the Aston, which is a beast on the straights, and focus on getting on the gas as early as i can OUT of the S curves. This allows a pass into Turn 3, the awkward left hander, but you can pass either on the inside or outside at that turn and avoid contact, especially useful on the inside as you can hold the line into the next series of corners.

Therein lies the mystery as to why your SR has dropped so quickly......

I did one quick race A before work, this morning and finally saw the penalty system do what it's supposed to. I was on the outside of the leader on the final turn of lap one, and he put me into the wall. 3.8 second penalty for him.
Fast forward to the end of the race.... I'm close behind him and he still has the penalty. He crosses the finish line first, but couldn't scrub off all the penalty time. I won by .7 seconds. Justice served!

Oh, and he was definitely a Brazilian with a US account. I'm sure of it.

Hello everyone! New player of GTS, loved the races of this week. (Interlagos? Meh. We just had it). But race C is very funny, managed to put a good 1.21.8, with the RCP92, bb 0. This car, by the way, is pretty difficult to handle with used tires, I'm the only one feeling it? The Peugeot feels much safer in race...

Welcome

Lake Maggie:

- go from 3rd to 2nd on lap 6 at the last corner, a fantastic Danny Ric move from a different post code to make it stick on the inside
- I stay under a second behind the leader who has a 0.7 penalty to serve
- end of lap 8, the guy I passed tries to do what I did at the same corner, forgetting to try and go past me, going in to me instead
- Raging

So last night after never having the disconnect issue, I managed 1 race before being disconnected from the next 5 attempts to race, the last 2 I restarted the ps4 and still couldnt get a race.

This morning after I downloaded the new update, I was disconnected from the first race I tried to enter. Until now, the soonest I've been disconnected is on a third consecutive race.
So, not only has the problem not been fixed, it may be worse.
I'll try it again, tomorrow.

Besides the aggressive driving it was probably the single red connection bar that gave it away.

Yeah Baby! 47.161 :D

I beat it again, my first ever Top 10 Time, and to think I wasn’t even gonna play tonight lol. What a great evening it’s been so far, I finally figured out that final corner. :)

Well had some races with small fields, so there are not enough competitors to make this work for Oceana. Although the response to driving is now totally awesome, it feels like practice.

I thought though that the game was playing up - the first corner at Interlagos - you brake hard and turn left, trying to get as left as possible without loosing too much speed, you open up the chicane's corner and off you go. Well despite a gap someone pushes me - but I did not leave the track. I looked behind after managing things and there was quite a gap behind me. He must have been pushed backwards by impacting me I guessed. Then on lap three - the same thing ... but a much bigger gap behind me now ... OK - hmm I am thinking now ... I must be locking the rear tyres at the end of the straight when I turn in with the brakes on. Hence getting way out of shape. No one has been hitting me after all. So I adjusted the brake balance mid race for that one corner.

Same race - I am balancing the brake balance for the first corner, and when I enter the main straight I turn off Traction control. Then I balance the brakes setup for that first corner after the straight, to avoid the rear getting too out of shape. And turn on traction control for that corner too. And OK - I am also racing some dude in a Mustang who got by me early on, when I got out of shape ... so I've gained half a second on him now, and next lap, three quarters - and then I pass him. But he gets me back. OK I'll get him on the straight - but his Mustang has more grunt - I do pass him, having switched off TC exiting the corner to the main straight nice and sweet. But he edges in front and beats me by half a car length as we cross the line. OK 3rd isn't a disaster and a clean race I reckon as it was all on the bitumen and no hits.

And then I go into the fence - I am sitting there on some green concrete looking at the view beyond the track bollards that seem to be made of concrete not something scientific to catch a car at the end of that high speed straight. I'm wondering why Mr Sony isn't in charge of my vehicle. The Mustang drives off into second place.

Oh dear ... paying so much attention to fiddling with the car, I thought I was on lap 5, but heck, I had caught him by lap 4 and there was still a lap to go. I think I finished 7th. God my concentration is pathetic.

Congratulations Player!!!

TYVM Sir, I wish I could say it was all me though. After reading the thread about the ABS glitch and how many people were using it I decided to give it a try to see if it really worked. Apparently it does, I shaved 5 tenths off a time from Monday that I could barely get within a tenth of last night. Maybe it helped, maybe it didn’t, I don’t know for 100% sure, but I’m thinking it made at least some difference. Oh well, when in Rome I guess. :)

Maggiore is a nightmare.
I guess so. 2 races and my SR is down to C. Thought i may get a win or 2nd in the second race...was carrying 3.6 sec penalty from the first corner...led into the last lap and over cooked T1, recovered but 2nd was pulling up next to me out of 2, gave him room inside going into 3 but he ran wide down the hill and i re-passed. Into the last corner i took my usual line, got blasted in the passenger door half way through and put into the wall by 3rd and 4th place cars, 2nd went through clean and won, I got 4th and a red C and 2nd and 3rd got no penalties and clean SR. Wow.

I recognized the name. I just meant to say that they're still gonna be there, just not with the green flag next to their name.

ABS gitch? Oh, do tell lol.

Damn @Canada_25 , if you’re reading this you’re were catching up to me on the last lap slightly. That Hyundai is a good car. It was my weapon of choice on the Gr1 daily at La Sarthe.
I have bagged four more wins at Monza, included a heated last race. Second place just died hard though.
It’s cool that I can drive both slow cars and Gr1, haha!

A rating killer.

That's the penalty system for you.

PD should learn from project cars 2 . Instead of trying to make a penalty system work, rather concentrate on realism..... impact = RETIREMENT! Put contact points on the front of the cars. ...any impact and the gets terminal damage. After all I don't see a car with a broken radiator finishing more than 2 laps.

People will drive a lot cleaner with severe damage settings. Easy as 1,2,3.

^ Ok, but did you have to triple post?
I have done another event of daily race c to pass the time to wait for a good lobby using the new Tokyo South Outer layout to appear. I won, by a pretty big margin. I didn’t even push hard at all, and still finished with a strong time overall. My tyres are thanking me.
Then off topic, but I joined one of thise cruise lobbies just to test drive the new cars. I figured if I wasn’t wrecking anyone I’d be ok. It was the most dumb lobby ever. Everyone keep crashing at 30 MPH!
I mean, shesh I wasn’t expecting much at all. Yet I was even more letdown.

In terms of this week's Race C I'd like to know how good the race finish time is?

so far the best I've done is 15:37, but I usually got 15:40 on average.

I think the best strategy is soft/soft with some fuel saving, any other thinking or experience?

Thanks!!

Not quite, if you still haven’t learnt to avoid then your posts will start to read why are my races being ruined because other drivers are destroying my car.

Not so easy as 1,2,3.

impact = RETIREMENT!

Your forgetting that there is an innocent and guilty.
