Waking up in the middle of the night has its benefits, especially the 5am race for some reason. Another victory, from 8th this time, there were only 10 in the room. The races before that were more populated, although only because SR went all the way down to E to fill the room... So many crazy blockers to pass! It didn't matter, the worst they could do to me was one neutral rating. Penalty free racing for me and safe at 99 SR.

I like the Nissan GT-R for the daily C, good on fuel and pretty fast. The Volkswagen GTI seems to be getting very popular, I just finished in front of 5 of em.

My tactic for running Daily Races is to use different cars with similar characteristics to the META car race conditions wise, such as running the GTI for this week's Race C, then run other fuel sipping cars and straightline monsters, then run some cars with great tyre life and exceptional handling, etc.

The FT-1 is basically a Jack-of-All-Trades car in its current BoP. It has a top speed rivaling some of the fastest cars in a straight line, it has the handling and tyre life to brawl out with other cars that are easy on tyres, but can't benefit much from short shifting (i.e. you should rev the engine to the redline since its power and torque curves are rather peaky).

Man what the F have they done to Sport Mode. This is legitimately awful and the saddest state of the game I've seen yet. Speechless

Despite being A+ half the people I race with are DR D which means I get an effective +0 dr For a win, negative for a podium and quite easily lose 2K+ dr if I get taken out into the top 5 by no fault of my own. What's the point? Serious question.

They absolutely need to change the points judgement now that they've split the player pool almost by 50%
I do agree that PD needs to do something about the way they figure DR. I have been starting the B race around 8th to 10th, and the typical start has me running up behind a 3 car dice, and either one of then hits dirt in the esses, and comes back on at the next corner and takes me out, or we make it to the first kink, and i need to slow because of the crowd ( 3 wide) and I get punted from behind. Happened 3 times in S rooms and I end up last, or close to it, usually with 5-7 seconds to the next car in front of me. Even if I run down 4 cars and work my way up to 8th or 10th, I loose DR. I think, for the most part, the driving has been pretty good up in the S rooms, but if I get away in 7th and am pressuring those in front, and 8th or 9th doesn't account for the traffic and plows through and punts me on the first lap, he gets a 2 or 3 second penalty and maybe finishes 7th with no passes and gets some DR points, and I do 3 clean laps, breaking my Q time and cleanly passing 3 cars, and I loose 1k DR points, even though I get no penalties and make up positions and time in my race.

Well, I'm 2 weeks now with my PS4 and GT Sport. Still figuring things out. I have 3 questions maybe one of you can help with. The first is ghosting rules. I've crashed or gone off trying to avoid ghosted cars. I've also been hit by cars that went off, and should have been ghosted (I think). Is there any sense to be made of when a car is ghosted, and when not?
Next is reseting after a crash. Sometimes you're reset before you stop moving,(re: Monza first chicane if you go straight) sometimes you spin, back up, turn around and never reset. Are there rules that anyone knows?
Last is bad connection cars. It's kind of hard to race clean when the car in front is jumping all over the track. How do you deal with them?
As always, any help is greatly appreciated. If I could give SR points, I would!

Ghosting can be unpredictable. Lower DR drivers will ghost sooner than higher DR. Lower DR drivers already get ghosted when they out brake themselves to let them safely crash... When someone spins or hits a wall it depends on how much they slow down or the angle they are at to the normal direction of travel whether they get ghosted. It's unreliable and the only way to protect yourself when you are behind someone you suspect is going to hit the wall or spin, is to stick to an inside line and leave room for them to crash at corner exit.

Cars with a penalty time will ghost as soon as they go a little below the normal speed for any section. Again lower DR will trigger the penalty ghosting sooner. Sometimes they even briefly ghost at full speed through certain sections.

As long as a ghosted car is traveling slow you can safely drive through them. However when they are getting back up to speed or ghosted from serving a penalty they can solidify any moment. (Pressing the gas stops the penalty count down and instantly solidifies their car. Some people use this as a tactic, slow down burn some penalty time and solidify right in front of an unsuspecting driver to get a nice speed boost from behind) Avoid ghosts that have a backwards counting penalty time and those that are close to your speed. Back markers (1 lap behind cars) are always ghosted and you can drive through them.

Resets happen when you crash badly or take a dangerous shortcut. It depends on the track where you get reset. Some tracks reset you even if you are almost back on the road, perhaps due to a timer or the game deems it unsafe to re-enter there. And sometimes it just let you struggle while ghosted. The worse you crash, the sooner you get reset.

Dealing with laggy cars is not easy. Never over take them on the outside and try not to brake in line in front of them. Their car will always brake late and break out to the outside of turns. Also brake early as you will not see their brake lights in time.

I'd been focusing on Race B so far but have been really struggling for pace. I'm fastest in the TT but just don't enjoy driving that car. I've tried the 4C but cannot get close to my TT time and am nowhere near as consistent with it. Anyway after watching Kie25's track guide, and managing to put in some decent quali laps (1:55.9 after not too much practice) thought I'd give Race C a go!

The first two races were a complete mess. The first race I was spun around at the second hairpin and damn well near entered the pits backwards. Also it seems that the penalties for grazing a wall a much harsher in the race than in qualifying, although that could just be my perception. Both races there were points where I had 10 seconds of penalties. Anyway learning to hotlap and actually racing are completely different things and two races cost me -29 SR  I'm someone who values my SR and always want it to be an S rank, and at 99 for as much as I can.

Now, rather than blame the game I completely realise this is down to me to learn how to race around other cars on this track. It's a high speed track with several sequences of corners where being off the racing line is a really bad idea. Unless the car ahead makes a mistake then really the best places to overtake are in the braking zones of the two hairpins. Slipstreaming past on the start/finish straight and into turn 1 is an option but trying to overtake in the fast turns in the tunnels is ill advised too.

I started a third race with the intention of repairing my SR, likely putting myself to the back. However the game seemed to take some pity on me and put me in a lobby with 2 A drivers, 2 B drivers (of which I'm one) and the rest made up of C and D's. I was also starting P3.

I threw caution to the wind and decided to race. It turned out brilliantly. I was in P2 for a while but he was faster than me and soon retook the position. After coming out of the pits I was behind two cars and did a lovely clean double overtake at the first hairpin. I realise they were slower drivers on worn tyres but it still put a smile on my face :). Finished P3 and regained 9 SR.

I actually really like the track. It has a really nice flow to it. I just need to race more cautiously giving other cars and the walls more space. As a final comment, what the heck is with the pits at this track?!?!

I always go around ghosted cars if I can for this very reason. Always make the assumption that they will unghost at the least opportune moment!

Well, thats four times I've ran a 2:07.3xx now. Ive shaved down to 07.360 but if i had my perfect lap i would be in the .1s but i cant be bothered spending the evening time trialling :banghead: so frustrating!

But anyway, It's race time i guess :gtpflag:

I managed to sneak in a practice sesh and qual on the Suzuka gr4. My time right now is a high 10. It takes some doing for me to get back into gr4 after running so much 3 these last weeks.
That Genesis is not a bad gr4. I’m using my secret Suzuka weapon for gr4.
We’ll see how things go or if I’ll be able to get faster.

All three races, all three, divebombed into the chicane.... sometimes i lose complete faith in racing online. Sr99 to 70 really cant be bothered to bring it back up....

I ran a F3 practice session in iRacing with Max Verstappen the other night. He was kicking everybody's ass in there putting in iRacing WDC level laptimes. He beat everyone in the session and humiliated me by 2 seconds  though for my excuse i need some time adjusting after only running GTS this year. :p

Not really related to this topic but i wanted to show off a little to my friends at GTP :gtpflag:

Here he overtakes me. He is running the orange #33 car.

Damm, I think you just shaved at least a half second or more off my next lap, thanks very much for the video!! I’ve been dropping down to 3rd for T3 and riding it through the rhythm section until the uphill left, now I know I can stay 4th through there(mine lines through there were slightly off yours as well), I’ve also been touching the brake and downshifting once going into that next quick right, now I know I can stay throttled down there, also the double lefty after the hairpin and the two rights, you go through there much faster, you’re on the gas between left hand turns while I’m trail braking the entire way through there. Tonight should be fun, thanks again for the reference lap!! Very nicely done Sor! :D
My sentiments exactly!

My lap from before, 2.07.584.
Slower first sector than i would like by about a tenth and then slightly deep into the hairpin cost me some time. Hopefully drop into the 07.4's later in the week.

Very smooth driving, and I can see how far I can push the track limits without taking a penalty hit. Can't wait to hit the track again later. I'm currently running a measly 2:13.077 in the Lambo. Going to switch it up a bit and try the TT.

Dude! Thats awesome!!!! Love the idea of top level racers practicing on sims we can race on too, pretty awesome to have been on track with him ( even though im a vettel / danny ric fan ).
I once raced in a brands hatch gr1 daily with a maxverstappen33 in it, rapid guy too, i always just figured it was a fan of his, and it probably was, but hey you never know :scared:

I'm sure we can all feel your pain.:banghead:

Yeah, ive had a rest tonight, far too frustrated and tired from starting work at 7am ( ridiculous hour to be awake lol ). Going to work on a more explosive first lap to break the tow and escape the dive bombs tomorrow.

Cheers man, the TT isnt as outright fast round suzuka as the 4c, but becuase of its FF layout should be good for consistency. Good luck 👍👍

I know right !

I am dutch so of course a big fan of Max. I heard rumors he was on iRacing practice sessions in the new F3 but didnt expect to actually bump into him in a session. Was so thrilled when i did. I have ran a FR2.0 session with Rubens Barrichello in the past on iRacing too wich i thought was awesome as well (especially cause we were simular on pace then ). I know Lando Norris plays iRacing sometimes as well but never saw him though.

I've seen maxverstappen33 on GTS as well. Though he was quick he was not actual Verstappen quick i believe, pretty sure its just a fan :p Max was setting true alien laptimes on iRacing, sounds weird to call it impressive, its just comes natural to those guys, they're fast in everything i guess lol. Here is the timesheet of the session. I actually saved the entire session replay :p

I know Ocon posted pictures of him driving GTS so who knows maybe we have shared a track with him.

Raced the C race for the first time. May be the last. Started 13th and made it to my stop relatively unscathed. 1 lap on fresh tires, coming into the dock hairpin on the tail of 2 cars, I get creamed by a guy who was 1.3 seconds back before I hit the brakes. Ended up last and back 9 seconds, I think. I made it back to my starting position, gained 6 SR points (back to 90) but lost about 1600 DR points...down to C with 7800 points. Why the points lost? Who knows.

You might need to spend a bit of timing practicing to beat Max.

From that list, I also recognise Sage Karam (raced in indycar, assuming it is the actual one) and also Graham Carroll who's a well known sim racer

Wow! I managed to get my time down to 2:10.5 in the TT. I think that's good enough for me this week. Thanks again for sharing that lap man. It REALLY helped.

EDIT: well that post didn't work out like I expected lol.

Well my friends, tonight’s race report from me is one of shame. I didn’t extract the potential from the 86. It bit me on 130r in race one first lap when, while running fifth (last in a tight lead pack) (btw huuuuge gap to sixth)
I was pushing for the perfect run for no logical reason I guess and I got out of control and dropped to 12th.
No problem.
I was recovering well until at some point I decided to push the hairpin exit hard to recapture more spots and spun.
Finished dfl. Oh no I suck again!
Obviously I needed to redeem the name Toyota, so I entered again.
This time started I think fourth. I had a fun battle with a mustang, but at 130r he pulled along to inside last lap.
I figured it would be dumb to side by side it so I braked which was the right choice because the Mustang didn’t hold line...
So I lose another spot to the guy behind who was doing what most were doing there which is run wide to the right and sweep back at the brake zone which to me is extremely dangerous.
I figured no worries he’ll tangle the stang and I already passed the stang in the chicane earlier so I knew it was a trouble spot for him.
They tangled and here I come with momentum to do the outside move onto the straight on the stang and boom he gets loose into my path so I swerve left which sends me into an unrecoverable move since I essentially gave the car a Scandinavian flick to avoid smashing the Mustang...
So yeah I lose 2 more places before the race finally ends.
Boom minus 1200 dr in 2 races.
Boom bringing shame on Japan as well as myself.
I just refuse to use another car there in gr4.
I like that dang thing with no tcs.
I congratulated the stang after and left.
Sometimes we live to fight another day. At least I didn’t take any sr hits...

Stay thirsty my friends

I got the 86 G4 as my gift car for Dec. 11th and had to try it on a qualifying lap. I normally stick with the Scirocco but I also tried the 4C. I like the 86‘s handling: it goes smooth through the turns with a very comfortable oversteering yet doesn‘t suffer from understeering when exiting the turn like the Scirocco and 4C do.

Maybe I‘m going to throw my personal principles over board and join a race with it.

Up in the night again ugh, this is getting very tiresome, literally. A few races then to kill the time. And I'm not off to a good start. First in the hairpin at the pit, at corner exit, I get tapped on my rear right bumper and pushed into a car on my left who snags the narrowing of the road. I get the blame and 5 sec. Then on the way to that same hairpin a lap later I run into an early braker with 499ms ping... Could not see that coming. No penalty as he didn't go wide yet I'm sure it contributed to SR loss. Then again in that hairpin in the final lap a car taps me on my rear at corner exit and SR Down pops up. That all added up to -10 SR for the race. 89SR.

It doesn't make any difference at this time of night. The next race has SR.S to SR.B for a room of 14. (And DR.A to DR.D yet that's pretty standard nowadays) Good race, back to 98 SR after a 4th place finish. I was catching up to 2nd and 3rd yet the race was too short. I'm a bit slower than last night, can't get the lap times under 1:57. The time might have something to do with that. Yawn.

5am race, another room of 14, this time with SR down to D. Only 12 made it into the room. I'm starting 11th and there is an unqualified B/S starting behind me. He follows me all the way and even though I get my lap time under 1:57 this time he beats my fastest lap with a 1:56.4. For the last 3 laps we are 1 and 2 with him right behind me and I'm waiting for him to attempt a pass. Instead he slows down early each time, it turns out he has a 5 sec penalty to get rid off. He can't shed it in time and I get another 5am victory with 2.5 sec lead. Fun race! SR 99, DR still steady at 39.5k

After a very shaky start I'm thoroughly enjoying race c. My last race I started P2 behind an A rated driver who I managed to keep on the tail of up to our pitstops on lap 4. We came out behind a Ferrari and a Beetle on a different strategy who held us both up. The Ferrari hit the wall at turn 1 allowing the A driver past and got me to do a slipstream pass on the straight. Going into the hairpin I was way in front but for some reason the Ferrari came charging in punting me wide. I don't think he did it on purpose, just out broke himself on worn tyres but he didn't wait for me.

I managed to get back past but then coming up to someone presumably attempting a no stopper, through the tunnel I slip stream past, get my car slightly ahead, and he turns into me bounces into the wall giving me a 2s penalty :banghead:

I was annoyed as I should have been dueling with the A driver for the lead but had that ruined. I still finished P2, almost +800DR and -2 SR.

Onwards and upwards, but never before has finishing 2nd left me frustrated!

Still love the track though!

That was me. I got caught up in other people's wrecks and lost some time on the first stint. Managed to close the gap with a short stop (51% fuel remaining) and caught your tow but had to get rid of the penalties.

I'm not sure I would have been able to pass you though, that Nissan's got impressive braking power and straight line speed!

Edit: I'm going to do a 1.17.00:000 qualifying lap so that I start ahead of you next time :D
