Right. It would be a gamble to enter, not knowing what fate has in store for you.
What I had in mind was basically a test of who can adapt the quickest, rather than our current setup, which gives people a week to figure it out.
Imagine the hilarity of Gr.1 at Tsukuba.![]()
IMO going back to just Race A on a 24 hour cycle is a better solution than a Race D which is dividing the player pool even more.
By nature, Race A being weekly doesn't make sense. A quick-fix short race that people can squeeze in on weeknights without having to spend hours qualifying. That should be A. It gives people a reason to log in every day and see what the new race is. It also gives them a chance to try new DLC cars on a daily basis.
It also lets PD take a little more risk with car choices. When do we ever get Super Car one-make races? If people are afraid to drive a F50, they'd only have to wait 24 hours. Now, PD picks "safe" cars that we endure for a whole week. Ugh!
Does this apply to Gr.4/3, too? how much is to be gained there? While I've gotten 13 wins using the clutch + shifter, Ive also been beaten by a couple people who clearly weren't using it which is incredible for them, they were running low 1:05 laps in race trim. Amazing pace. That means they'd be in 1:04 if they had a shifter.
Gr.4 and above (except for Group C cars in Gr.1) does not benefit from an H-shifter to gain an advantage.Does this apply to Gr.4/3, too? how much is to be gained there?
I was SR-S when I raced my first C race. I got caught in the mayhem and some of the people in the back had no interest in trying to be clean. Everybody around them pays for that. But there are lots of combinations that would work well ... love the idea of such a draw. The qualifying would have more validity too as you'd get little time ... so base it on qualifying and SR.
Another idea too might be to base your grip position after your first race, on your race fastest lap. That would also have more validity IMO.
Rex maybe you need to purely focus on avoiding people until you get a good SR. The races are pretty different in SR S and even A IMO.
I know from your posts that you get a lot of practice working traffic, and you maintain your S rating (for the most part) even starting at the back. You seem to gather a lot of data on penalties because of this, so maybe you can answer this question for me. Do you know how the game reacts to bump drafting? I have no desire to hit anyone, and I don't ever want a penalty if I can avoid it, but I often find myself backing out of the throttle to keep from hitting someone, but I don't have the speed to actually attempt a pass. In the right situation, a bump might help both of us pull clear of traffic so we can sort it out between ourselves later. Do you know if such a bump, where neither car has any negative effect, will pull a penalty? I get the feeling that the outcome may be random.8:30 pm race, yep it seems the clean races are done. Tempers are heating up, dumb overtakes are happening again. Perhaps it's an outlier, I'll find out soon enough. I got bumped around and slammed into the pit wall, no penalty yet neutral S already. Time for a focus shift, less racing, more avoiding. Sunday evening has arrived.
9pm race, more dumb moves. I didn't catch the last second swerve block on time at the hairpin before the pit. A Ford, that should already have been braking, swerved in my way right before my brake point (I was on the inside). I bump him, he bumps the car in front of him, who bumps the car in front of him into the wall. I got from 10th to 7th, no penalty. Did the system get smarter or did I just get lucky. Don't swerve in a braking zone...
9:30pm, a bit better. I finish 7th again without any contacts, still no clean race bonus. I had a few of those last week yet they are rare. Perhaps the track limits are more strict for the bonus on this track. Unfortunately there is no way to tell when you lose the bonus.
10pm, I get bumped into a wall twice, same car both times who received 3 sec for it each time, then he quit. I finish 10th, behind @NosOsH again. It seems the room is getting a bit faster.
10:30pm, dirty mess. I did not escape it all. A DR.C driver punts me into another car, both me and the other car go into the wall. The DR.C driver gets 3 sec, I get 5 sec penalty... It's all good, in the end I have a great clean battle with another driver and would have finished 6th if it weren't for the penalty. 7th again. -6 SR for getting punted. Lot of red in that room.

Good win, considering that car is garbage. I respect people like you using unconventional cars to win or do good at leastTwo races in the new Race C at Tokyo East Outer loop and finally 2 poles and 2 wins in the McLaren Gr4!
I know it's early days and the Aus/NZ is weak, but I'll take my first win ever in the McLaren Gr4. The screenshot is from my second race were suddenly more 650s turned up after I was the only one in the first race. The guy in 2nd tried to no-stop on softs but didn't make it work. For the McLaren at least, 1 stop going softs-softs works best.

Pretty sure the McLaren isn't the car to use, but I'll take my moment in the sun!
This sounds like race C for me today, SR down. The only rule seemed to be - don't use brakes, use someone else's rear bumper.

Its hard to get out of the way when your walled in, anyone got any tips (other than avoiding sport mode)
I might have to just trundle round at the rear trying to keep it clean. Can't get rear ended if your last..
I think the BOP is fine there. Makes it a race where drivers have to show their abilities to control a car: unnecessary steering movements, perfect braking, perfect line, perfect throttle. Is it really a Tesla for Race A this week? That’s gonna be interesting, and quiet lol.
Also, for One Make reaches, is BoP really necessary? All the cars are identical, they don’t really need to be evened out in a OM do they?
Thanks man! Early in the week is the best time to mess around and get good results with unconventional cars. I think the MR layout really suits the fast curvy bits of the track, so the McLaren on softs wasn't as bad as I thought and it has decent top-end speed. Yeah, I'm on CapraKiwi's friends list and he was in my first race so I probably made an appearance on his stream/youtube. In fact @CapraKiwi is a good example of how someone can gradually improve over time after switching off driving aids. His really early races he was low-mid DR-B using ASM, CSM, TC even on FWD cars! Now after switching them off he's low-Mid DR-A and doing well.Good win, considering that car is garbage. I respect people like you using unconventional cars to win or do good at least
Come to think of it, I think I’ve seen your name on CapraKiwi’s streams.
For my tale, had a good race win Kin’s Veyron while I used the British Aston. This is a really interesting race in terms of tyre wear. Fuel consumption is nothing to worry about however.
I won that race, Kin I think would’ve got second if it weren’t for an idiot in a Huracán, who also managed a good job of slowing me down for a coupke of laps.
Then, after that, I did the Tesla one make winning twice! I like how the Tesla drives. Really good for a 2 ton car! The brakes are tricky however if you mash the pedal all the way. Got myself to 80 wins as a result, and gained a little over 300 dr. Not bad considering I made up the dr I lost yesterday.
