Hey, @Sven Jurgens next time you're in the neighborhood, could you stop by and do the 1 lap Nordschleife circuit experience for me? It's been over a year, and it's still my only non-gold.

I've tried it about 25 times, and just can't seem perform worth a damn, on that track. The idea of pushing really hard to go fast there, freaks me out, because you're just inches away from disaster. Is it a matter of memorization?

That was the hardest one, by far!! It took me so many tries before I finally got it, I’d be willing to bet I had to retry that one event more times than all the other track experience events combined, man it was friggen hard. I missed it by less than 4 tenths on a few tries and by less then a single tenth on another, I nearly lost my **** on that one haha. You’ll get it!! Just gotta keep plugging away at it. :)

Last night I w@s able to spend some time in qual mode at c race. I managed to knock another.44 off the time.

Encouragement...Drive the car, don’t let the car drive you. If I can shave time, anyone can with practice. Also at Suzuka, I’m finding the curbs quite helpful in the Rexus. Gotta use the whole track. I paid for the game, might as well use all of it! In a bit I’m gonna try for below my current personal best, sitting at fifty flat right now, wanna get 49 something. Coffee has to kick in.

View attachment 792166 View attachment 792167 So, I did a few more q laps. For me this pace ended up me facing backwards.
No way could I do in race.
Darn you Pigems! You’re fast!

Great lap man!! I’m starting to think I just lucked my way into my FL for the week, I haven’t been able to get lower than 50.8 since Monday with only a handful of sub 51 laps in total and trying to bring that pace into a race had me facing every direction but forwards as well lol. That Nissan, on RH tires, at Suzuka, is a serious test of patience, I’ve only done a few races all week because of my lack of race pace in that car. I’m hoping to get a couple more in tonight and hopefully finish the week on a positive note.

The highlights of the week so far were getting the chance to race with @NosOsH in 2 more races, I just wish I had been able to give him a run but I suck at Suzuki in this car lol, he ran well in the first race but I believe he was punted in the second race because he finished just ahead of me. I also got my first chance to race with @Rexracer702 for 2 races, he started behind me in both races but at one point I had either spun out or been spun out and ended up directly behind him for a lap or two and if I remember correctly I wasn’t gain much, if any ground on him but he must have had a mishap, which was too bad because I wasn’t enjoying trying to catch him. :)

This is my log for the week, not much to write home about. I want Kyoto back, I had so much fun that week lol.

Maybe don't push so hard? It is a matter of memorization. I did it on the first attempt, however half my mileage on GT5 and GT6 was on the Nordschleife. It's laser scanned into my brain :) I do remember the Nordschleife 1 lap license test in GT4. Two wheels over the line, game over. That was a good way to learn lol. It took so many tries, yet once I backed off a bit and concentrated on staying on the road, rather than going fast, I finally did it.

Good luck!

I tried a race last night but it was different from the afternoon and morning crowd. I only finished 2 laps before I decided it wasn't worth it. Also pretty sure there was some funny business going on with some cars. Conveniently lagging and reappearing ahead when you get close. I should have finished the race to save the replay.

My race this morning was great. This whole week has been great aside from last night.

Maybe I'll have to try it more than twice in a row. That's usually the limit, where I get frustrated, figure it's hopeless, and leave. None of the others gave me problems like this one.

That track is really difficult with Gr.2 cars. My claim to fame there for the week was when I passed @Winnie847. Of course, he was facing backwards, at the time. I think someone gave him a little love tap at turn 1. :ouch:

Daily Race C - First race went better than my previous experience; I started on Pole instead of 2nd and I made it through Turn 1 on Lap 1. Then I binned it in Turn 1 Lap 2. More mistakes followed and I think I finished in 6th place but I don't remember (and didn't save the replay). Still frustrated from the first race, second race went even more 🤬 than the last race. Started on pole in front of @Winnie847 and @Sven Jurgens and then binned it Turn 9 and rage quit. I hate a car that does nothing from 0% to 50% throttle because I like to control my car with the throttle. I also don't ever want to race on this track ever again. So much frustration from the Daily Race and the FIA race.

At least I'm at DR B now and that rage quit didn't hurt my SR. My DR growth is a lot slower now so I wonder when I'll get back to what I was used to in terms of DR growth.

See you guys on Daily Race B next week

With times like that you’ll be A+ in no time man, just gotta stay consistent. Suzuka is a difficult track for anyone, and you gotta push those limits to be fast there. It’s rewarding when it pays off though. Nice to meet you out there.

Yeah I had a bad couple races right after qualifying, I think that was my 2nd one. Still finished alright and the guy who punted me apologized so it’s all good. I’ve had a few wins since then :D

I’m about to get a few more races in, we’ll see how it goes. First time racing on a Sunday in awhile.

See you on the track! I'm about to start my third race and so far it's been pretty clean for a Sunday afternoon. The good effect of raising more people to SR.S by Suzuka is that it's now all A/S to B/S. A faster backfield without the hard braking for non corners. There is not much competition for you yet, you would probably have cleaned up the last 2 races.

Hmm, just your luck, a B/S with 1:48 quali time on pole. I see you on 2nd, good luck!

I remember a couple stages on the Nordschleife taking me upwards of 40 minutes to gold. But once I got all the individual sectors down, I went into the 1 lap trial and finished a second clear of gold first time. Are you stuck on the lap attack or are you missing sector golds as well?

Also, I set out to 100% GT4 in the summer, so A-15, S-16 and Mission 34 PTSD probably helped me gold the circuit experience. :P

In one race @NosOsH came by me twice lol. Once in spoon, I saw this car come up (I’m like who where’d he come from)he went inside, and then once under braking into the chicane. Luckily, I didn’t block. I think he slipped off twice and still regained podium .
I can’t get 49. I’m real happy with the work I did though, crashing quite a few has improved my pace. I’m getting pissed always seeing you so much faster lol. It’s good competition makes us all better. I’m a big Suzuka fan. One of my first races was the 86 n200 there that was a good race c.
People don’t seem to use the Lexus, I’ve no idea why, I find it a great car, and once in a while you see aliens running it. I’ve tried the Honda (no idea how to be fast in that). GTR (feels weird after getting used to Lexus)
and Lexus, which I bought upon release and don’t drive much but love.
At this point in the week I feel ready for some new races.
Cheers

I've got gold for each of the individual sectors. I was thinking that I should do each of them again, individually, then the one lapper.

I have finally dropped into the 1.51's around Suzuka after a week of gradually imporving. It's a great track, and a real challenge. Hats off to the aliens who do sub 1:50.

Generally speaking, how far off your qualy time would you expect to run in the race, given a clear track? I am at least 2 seconds off my best time, which I don't think is really that good.

My qualy time there is 1:49.2, and my best time in race so far has been a 1:50.2. I think if I qualified again after several races there I could improve my qualy time to high 48’s, so I’d say on this track you should be able to come within 1.5s of your qualy time on your fastest lap without much traffic.

WooHoo!!! I finally managed to keep it together for an entire race!! :D

I started 6th with @Winnie847 holding the pole position and @Sven Jurgens one or two places from the back I believe. It was my best race of the week, I only got passed once, I’m not sure if I ended up re passing that guy because the only passes I made were guys who had gone off track and I was too focused on driving to see who it was that had gone off, but I gained 3 places overall and ended up only 8 seconds behind the winner @Winnie847 in the end, though I did see him battling with a guy around mid race for a lap or two so that probably slowed him down a bit I’m sure. @Sven Jurgens finished in 6th or 7th I believe so he must have had a good run as well. :)

It was a fun race and my best of the week, so I’m calling it a day and going out on a high note lol. Bring on next week’s races! :)

Great work this week, you’ve made some big improvements. That’s exactly why I love being able to see friends times, it’s extra motivation!! I know how you feel though, my 50.2 is only 5th in my friends list right now, right behind you.

For what it is worth, it got harder with the new tire model...

I've been running a few cars at Interlagos trying to get a good Q time and managed to beat my 35 by a good little bit I got a 1:34.3XX in the GT-R I tried to top it with the Mustang that I just like more but can't do it yet.

Still at back of pack going in a Race now lol 16th place

F my life I seem to suck :/

It sucks cuz they soooo touchy on the throttle usually I usually just tweak the settings to calm this down but no tuning it is what it is & DS4 its sensitive lol

Race Update
Moved up 3 positions finished 10th, I guess 3 people quite or something cuz I started 16th finished 10th but they say moved up 3 positions after race :/ weird lol either way the guys I past were after they screwed up drove off the track what not. Its not like I overtook then or anything like that.

Having hard time with Gr3 not sure what to expect with Gr2/Gr1 (0_0) like every car I've tried in Gr2 throttle oversteer tire smoke show

This is what i did to get gold on the full lap. Practiced the sectors until i basically maxed out my ability on them. After a week or two of this i would give each sector a quick runthrough before going for the full lap. My best full lap is a 6.46 which is pretty close to my best sector times all added up.

I did a lap, it isn't pretty and as you can see it is also rough :)

Imho the idea is to get so much confidence with the car and the track that you don't feel like you are on the edge all the time, even though you are.
I have several points around the track that causes me problems, and especially the last very technical part kept playing tricks at me. Thanks to the Circuit challenge i could easily practice them over and over until i had them in my comfort zone.

DS4, TCS=3

Yesterday, I did a Race B in the afternoon in the Mustang to see what happens. Then come to the race and someone with a 1:31.7 quali time in an R8 sits on pole with me right behind with my 1:31.893. Race starts and I simply sit behind him to put the pressure down on him. And then on Lap 4 he succumbs to the pressure as he dips his rear right wheel into the Astro exiting out of Descida de Lago, which forces him to go to the inside into Ferradura, to which I decided to do a switchback on him and passed him on T4. After that, I decided to keep my cool and get myself my 61st Sport Mode win.

Then this morning I did 3 Race Bs to finish off this week's races as we roll over to a next set of races, with one 4 car race with the Viper, where an AMG decided to fight me after I braked too early into T2, which only lasted for a few turns as he ends up battling with a Beetle, which allowed me to get my 62nd win.

The Vantage race is a smooth sail to my 63rd win.

And finally to finish off, I decided to pull out my Manufacturer Series M6 for probably one last time and that same AMG GT3 that starts in 2nd decided to pull out and into the back! Because of this, I'm fearing that he has a lag switch ready to kill me, but nope, he went into the back to go from last to 9th as I get my 64th win, probably the first and the last win for my M6...

My 86, Cayman, 4C, and Scirocco are ready for the Gr.4 at DTG race!

It sucks cuz they soooo touchy on the throttle usually I usually just tweak the settings to calm this down but no tuning it is what it is & DS4 its sensitive lol
I'd suggest TCS 2. 1 still doesn't deal with the oversteer well enough, while 3-5 just kills your corner exits completely. 2 is somewhere in between; hurts corner exit speeds to some extent, but prevents oversteer.

I had been wanting to stay away from TCS but these Race cars they use TCS and ABS. Based on the GT-R at least. Its the only real one I know of so far and I remember when they did the 24h at Nurbergring they used TCS and ABS. I figure the Gr3 cars are spec'ed out the same. Must be why they so darn touchy.

I did the Track Experience for Nurb and its one of my most lapped tracks since GT4 so first attempt was a 6:58.9XX.... Im like so close first try, second attempt 6:56.945 Booyah lots of room in there to knock that down a bunch but Gold Second attempt felt great. The sectors I got all inside 3 tries many first attempt, its juts the full lap is Whats interesting.

TCS also at 3 just left it as is and shifted BB 1 step to the rear.

So much room in sector times the full lap you Cary it all over.

Track Experience Im now at 40% all gold

It took me a little while to get used to the wheel but as I got faster and more consistent I realised it was the braking that I was losing out on. Perhaps it is easier for young players who don't drive on public roads but in a real car you brake easy and gradually (on the road not track). When using a DS4 a twitch of the finger is effectively slamming on the brakes so you don't realise you are doing it. I chose the G29 specifically because it had good pedals for the price and I am impressed. Having watched a replay of a Gr3 race at Interlagos I from a few weeks back however I reckon that to be as aggressive on braking as I was with a controller I'd need to put my foot through the floor. Perhaps I'll make up the speed on being smooth and consistent, where the controller is more point and squirt. If you are not already, left foot braking is of course best...though you are already faster than me.

One thing that's IMO important for speed with the wheel is to use the accelerator while braking to balance the front and rear of the car - even a prod of the accelerator while you first brake. Its not actually trail braking which is a seperate technique. Knowing about the technique can reveal why some laps were faster than others too, as sometimes we do it without realising, having the throttle on while first braking.

Some good drivers blip the throttle while going doing the gears - but I don't know why they do that???

On your new pedals, there are some great upgrade kits for the brake pedals for the G29, worth checking them out IMO.

I am not fast but I had no problem with that ...

So maybe you need to take a different approach??

For instance - try sticking to the bitumen (black top) the whole way around. Also try using a higher gear in some of the slow speed corners.

Then compare with how you were doing before the changes.

There's a couple of places where you can make a lot of time, that you likely are not doing right. You need to find which spots they are ... an example might be not long after the start - you do a left turn there ... the exit is important, but the next right hander is super important - you need to turn right but ensure you carry lots of speed there so you end up on the left side of the track. You can gain a lot of time just there
... also vary the throttle in those early twisty bits so the throttle turns the car. Maybe have a higher gear to exit onto the fast bit following the first curves. Then of course the next right hander/kink is a big area to gain time
... obviously use all the track through that right hander and also try a higher gear there, as not only entry speed there but also traction that gets the high speed. With the fast deceleration for the next big right hander - maybe stab the throttle to settle the car under braking. So annoying to run off there when you are up on time ...

There's some more critical areas too but maybe others will advise.

Good luck, the plus side is that its a good track to learn. Its less like a racing track IMO, more like the real road.

OK I love the place ;)

It was awesome seeing a bunch of Gtp guys thos week that I hadn't before. Not just once but a couple times and also inthe last couple weeks as well. Didnt see @Winnie847 out there tho, too bad would have liked to see if I could keep pace with him this week.
My best so far was 149.6ish and I have put down 150.2 some races but Im averageing around 151-152.3 In race.
I set my brake bias way to the back for the first 3 laps per set of tires, to try and save my fronts for later. So that doesnt let me set as fast of a time as I could lap 2 and 3 or 6 and 7.

I like your video. Thank you. Right away, I noticed that I am using way more brakes than you. I guess that's an overabundance of caution caused by not knowing the track.

I was glad to see you out there, this week, though I'm still not convinced that @Pigems is real. Never seen him.

That's funny, cause I moved mine towards the front, to save my back tires.

Hmm you sure? I'm waiting for the 9pm race so started up the Nord 1 lap experience to see if it's any different. First attempt I beat my past record with 5 seconds. 6:49 without pushing and got on the grass in one place. (TCS was apparently at 3 during that lap as the game still keeps resetting TCS...) The record is at 6:27, that's pushing it!

Concentrate to stay on the road and you should be able to get it. Smooth, brake early, and know the track :)
