Oh I haven’t even done a race yet, I’m just trying to do hot laps haha. Even that’s really difficult when even the slightest brush of a wall gives a 5s penalty and a ruined lap. It’s frustrating.
Make sure you brake early, there’s not much to be gained on this track by trying to go super deep into braking zones. It’s all about keeping your minimum speeds as high as possible, late apexes and clean exits.

I will admit, I might have a bit of an advantage over some on this track, I have a rediculous number of laps around all the Tokyo tracks from online cruising and free run lobbies....lapping Tokyo tracks in JDM cars on sports tires is basically all I do in this game :P (and I still can’t dip below 1:30 in quali )

You'll get there! What car are you using? The Mustang seems really good so far, I’m down to 1:03.6 in it, it’s got good headlights too lol. Lots of power for up the hill and fairly tame coming back down through the twisty bits, brakes are 2 to the rear and TCS 2. This track is awesome at night!! :D

Lexus '17. It's used almost exclusively for Gr.3 stuff (occasional stints in the Porsche happen) I figure the more I switch cars, the more I have to learn. Stick to one, and I just need to learn the circuit.

Brakes are on 2 to the front from Forrest's Elbow, round to Skyline. Then 1 to the rear down the hill. TC is on 2 from The Cutting, to Forrest's Elbow, then off for the remainder of the lap.

I'll more than likely leave TC on 2 for any races, and just adjust brake balance on the fly.

Damn the Nord is so rough in the backfield. Just lost 4 SR again from the continuous bumping from behind while I'm in traffic. And of course the dirty mofos get a blue S. Last time it was a Canadian, before that an Argentinian, before that a Brazilian, before that an Ecuadorian (is that right?) Congrats USA you know where the brakes are.

Nevermind, USA just punted me into another car in T minus one. Can't have one race without getting hit from behind in that corner. PD's cruel ploy to have everyone draft full speed into the final section at the start.

I’d say it’s mostly the drivers that are the problem, not the tires or the track.

This is one race where yielding a spot, keeping momentum, and living to fight another day is a solid strategy, but most people don’t seem to think when they race.
Wish players would learn this at all tracks. That's why my exit saying is, "See? We raced fair and gapped the field.".

I’ve got Race A down to 1:29.8 though I won’t be racing it at all and Race C down to 2:02.9 with the GTR, man what a tough week this is gonna be. I haven’t tried Nordy yet, she’s gonna need a lot more time. The Mountain is so much fun in the dark, racing there is gonna be tough though.

Ran some laps in all 3 races in Q. Gonna be a rough week. The only one I felt ok in was Tokyo. Managed to just break into the 31's there. Bathurst is tough. I was just starting to get comfortable last time, but never in a gt3. I'll have to run some laps in the daylight and get a handle on it before driving half blind in a race. The Nord... I ran 4 laps and my best was 8:24 I think. I'm not a big fan of 911 handling. I need to figure out the transition from the fast sections. Those tires suck so my braking distances and corner speeds are off after just doing the circuit thing on race tires. The speeds are almost the same but no stick. I like race cars!

Not as much fun as N24 at night time! Nord during the day is keeping me occupied anyway, such a rush driving through all this dirty traffic. I've gone up nearly 12K DR since DT Gardens, from 11.8 to 23.5. I'll see how far I can get before qualifying. At the rate it's going SR.S is going to be empty soon

Nice haul! I wish I could run this track well, I finally made it a full lap around without going off track though haha, 8:10, here I was coming down the straight away thing oh yeah, sub 8:00 here I come lol. Nope haha. Maybe by weeks end. :)

I have no idea what my time is, but I've seen pole witters with as low as 7:33. He's there again, Turismo-Vegas on pole.

Doh, 4 sec penalty in the last race. I had to brake too hard to avoid a car rejoining the track from the grass in the final section, which send me into a skid onto the outside grass then hitting the car rejoining, I end up with the penalty. So it goes. Overall I'm sticking to SR.99 though yet can't avoid all lawn mowers. I wonder how the mountain is doing with mixed tires...

If you have VR, try the mountain at night. It’s absolutely awesome. Especially the views from the top. VR mode has a few cool settings, this is one of them.

I wish I did, that sounds pretty cool. I’d definitely like to try though. :)

Got my A time down to 1:29.4 now. :)

1:36 is nuts in this car on these tires. I’d be a speed bump on that track right now lol, more practice to come this week though. I’m eventually gonna have to learn this track properly. :)

Tried B twice tonight....one without a quali lap which I could tell is not the best option here. Little room to pass cleanly so any position gained for quali is so important.

I've never been good at the ring, so I just am amazed at the sub 7:40s even. They are harder replays to analyze too. What parts of the track do you guys think are the most crucial to times to focus on?

At the same time, you gain a lot of places by people not driving it clean. I inherited 3rd in my 2nd race by only running off the track badly once. Feel like anyone below 3rd is running off a few times badly.

Any corners preceeding long straights are especially important to get right. Mostly it's just a tenth here and there, which adds up.

The guy I raced who put in a 7:29 lap was using all of the track and then some (for example putting two wheels on the grass on the outside of Flugplatz). Was pretty wild viewing when it came off, but you're playing with fire if you deliberately take that approach (he spun off 3/4 through the lap).

Edit: for reference, this is Flugplatz;

The Mountain is my favorite this week for sure. Love the Ring, but not on the crappiest street tires. Irritating.

New to online racing and can’t decide if I’d rather not qual and work my way up, or qual well and fight off the dolts slamming into everyone to get ahead. Is so irritating how they cut inside and slam into me and toss me out into the grass, and only get a few seconds penalty. While it takes me ten to get back on the track.

I’ve given up on my DR. Keeping my SR at 99 and racing clean and having fun. I do usually have a weekly favorite. In recent weeks was Tokyo, Le Sarthe, and Suzuka.

Clearly your experience of the Mustang and mine are radically different. I found it's headlights were crap compared to some of the other cars. I was finding it a bit cumbersome. I'm used to using hards and I found it was hard going . I needn't have bothered with the liveries, cause no one can see the bloody thing anyway!

Not as much fun as N24 at night time!

N24 at night is probably my favourite track in the game. Not sure I'd wanna do it with the Porsche on sports tyres though .

Bathurst in the dark? You gotta be kidding. But despite this, I was able to do alright in the two races I did yesterday. In the first race I started in third place and was doing well until I had my pit stop. I was hoping to undercut the guy who stayed out but due to a number of idiotic mistakes, I had to settle for fourth. However for the last 3 laps I was getting hounded by an R8. In the second race, I started fifth and ended up third without much fuss, aside from a battle with a BMW M3. He got held up by someone who stayed out, giving me the podium. But the pace is frantic, that's for sure.

I did all the races in the Mustang, because I knew it would be highly competitive on such a fast track.

I’ve do t 3 races so far tonight, all race A. Got my 5th CRB in a row on the first one and finished 6th after starting 5/12. The next race I started 4/12 but got bumped and fell back to 8th at the end of the first lap, I managed to get back and finish 3rd though so it wasn’t so bad in the end. The last race I got a mystery 2 second penalty on T1/L1 for reasons I’m not sure why, I don’t even think I made contact with anyone. Considering what happened I thought I did a damm good job of avoiding everyone, I guess the game thought otherwise. I had second locked down but after scrubbing the penalty on the final stretch I ended up finishing third with a red S, down to 91, Grrrr, oh well. Off to race B now I think. :)

The Mystery Penalty.

That was a strangely fun race. Thought I’d hate it and had a ton of fun running it.

@gismanps & @VolkswagenX:

Welcome Gismanps! Looks like you are going around the same pace as myself. I'm using Megane Gr4 with wheel and quali at 1.39.92. Thought I was catching VolkswagenX but then he edged further ahead again. Race pace is 1.40 to 1.41 unless stuck in traffic or pushed into a wall.

I tried the Cayman for 2 laps last night. It is really nice on Gardens. Think I'll try some more practice with it and see if I can get consistent enough to race it.

Had a horrible night last night. Started at 9,877 points and after top 5 finishes all week figured a few points to Dr B would be easy enough. Unfortunately in all 3 races I entered the Spanish Armada sank me and I dropped into the 8,000 point zone. Man, the Spanish absolutely hate using their brakes on T4 and then when you are in front of them it's as though they feel entitled to the road in front of you and go through regardless of what is in front of them. Anyway, I logged off and went to bed. Can't be bothering with that sort of racing.

@Invisigoth; Yup, can't race naked! I hate when I realise that I'm faster in a car that I haven't liveried yet. Now I have to go and sticker the thing if I want to race. To have trouble I've come up with a 6BK standard livery format so I can do any car in a couple of minutes.:p

I need to learn how to do that. Right now I’m just in a bright pearl green with purple hood/mirrors/spoiler scheme. No stickers or writing.

If I punt anyone I apologize. I’m working to race clean. Unfortunately that means I’m not fast. Wave hello as you fly by me. I’m TimBoss-351on there.

Quick overview from a newbie duaslhock DR:B/C SR:S guy

Race C
Night race is amazing! I liked it. Bathurst and Gr3 at the same time not my favorites but if I am going to learn fast brake-accellarate-brake, I think this is the place. This year I am planning to choose Volkswagen, because of it I tried Beetle. Current time 02:06.004 but there are stil waaaaaaay to go. But, instead of jumping another, I will be on the qualifications. Because, middle pack of this race is simply killing.
Current: TCS:2, 02:06.004
Target:TCS:1-2, under 2:03:500

Race B
I-REALLY-LIKED-IT! After I raced one, of course as told before, I dropped my SR and DR a little bit. But the issue is, I enjoyed; simply enjoyed a lot. Of course this Porsche is not race car, but simply I loved. The car is not trying to swing so much, and brakes are definitely trustable. The key deal is, you can make the track-car combination. Even with dualshock.
The only problem is where people are trying to overtake. Such as a guy entered to Aremberg (http://www.nuerburgring.de/typo3temp/fl_realurl_image/ns-aremberg-fertig-8b.jpg) from the right without using the brakes! Sometimes it kills himself, sometimes kills you. But rather than, really lovely. I think I will say go to hell DR! I will enjoy the race! :)
Current: TCS:2, 07:58.367
Target: TCS:2, under 07:43:000

Race A
Simply; did not like it! The car is so slippery for me. I could not handle at all. This week; simply I will pass this one.

I use TCS 3. 2nd gear for T1 And the final two corners. 3rd gear for majority of cornering. Saves time from shifting. The Porsche is good for carrying momentum and can really throw it's weight around early and hold that line.

I hear lots of cars downshifting to 2nd and they lose too much speed. I make up crazy time and the hairpin corners and also pull away. Also, trust those Porsche brakes!

I'll test it out later, see how it goes.

Personally use R2 L2 for acceleration and braking, x and square for gears (regarding a previous topic)

Gave Bathurst a few TT laps in the NSX last night. It's still quite slidey during cornering for me but there's so much more low speed grip. Also it seems you can get away a bit easier with putting 2 wheels on the grass. I did it at the end of the Conrod and somehow still made the apex of the chicane.

Did Nurburgring last night, just qualify, first lap all guns blazing was on a very good lap probably 7:40/45 but messed up at the turn before the carroussel and ended up with 7:59 then on second lap with a more careful approach did a 7:52 but surely can take 10sec out of that.
This is probably the only race I'll do this week because Bathurst is a SR killer and I'm down to C because of a really bad races 3 or 4 weeks ago(haven't race since) that in 3 or 4 days went from A to C, and the Tokyo race with my current level probably will be also really bad, so I'll try to start at the front of the pack in race B and see what happens

jesus, the nord is a messy dirty race, struggling to stay with cars in 4th and 5th, get to the carousel and some idiot just does not brake and slams into the back of me at full force (from some way back!)i go flying into the barrier and get a 4 second time penatly to boot!

im not even sure i want to try bathurst!

The dog was annoying so I've been up since 4am, who needs sleep sigh. I did 3 races on the Nord, 4:30, 4:50 and 5:;10. Got 2 clean race bonusses and podium finish. It's pretty barren at this time though and the people in the back are slow and unsteady. It takes a while to get a clean pass opportunity by which time pole can get a nice lead. I could clean up at night with qualifying yet it's still early in the week and you can't erase it.

Next up Bathurst, that seems more populated. 20 entries at 5:30 am, stark contrast with 6 for the Nord. It goes down to E/B though, this is going to be chaos. Starting 16th out of 17, 3 disconnects already. And ofcourse 2 minute flat alien on pole. They never sleep either.

Driving Race C this week is bloody miserable because of the night setting. If you don't qualify at the front then all that happens is that you spend half the race looking at dust being kicked up by the cars ahead, and that completely obscures the track. Maybe Polyphony needs to look at turning down that effect a little?

Sadly there's no way I can get near the front in qualifying, would need to knock close to 2 seconds off my lap (currently a high 2:01), and that isn't going to happen. Another week of occasional lobby race and little else. Can't wait for the FIA races to come back to give a bit of variety.

Well, that was a nasty first experience on Bathurst. From the get go a non qualifier behind me get bumping me until he crashed at Skyline, not after giving me a 2 sec penalty and multiple SR Downs. He showed he could actually make a real pass in lap 2, just didn't have any patience, and ended the race as SR.B. Next a early pitter came out the pit behind me in lap 5. He did the same, bump bump bump and spun me around at Skyline. He ended the race as SR.C. In between another car hit me yet in his defense, I was not doing too good with the Huracan, such oversteer after the Porsche, the dipper is like a skating rink. My best lap was only 2:10, nudging the left stick millimeter by millimeter not to trigger oversteer.

Anyway all the bashing from the SR.B and SR.C drivers cost me 7 SR, pretty much the whole room was red. This might be worse than the Nordschleife.

Second race, in the Lexus, better. I'm driving 2:05's in this one instead of 2;10's lol. However same two drivers had to hit me and while I avoided them most of the race, last lap the SR.B driver dive hit me on the way to Forest Elbow and tapped the wall to give me 3 sec, then punted me off at the bottom of the hill. PD I'll gladly take smaller rooms instead of racing this ****.
m9dd.jpg

Despite the SR.C and SR.B drivers ramming me again I 'survived' with a neutral rating. One more attempt. Good, only one SR.A, rest SR.S, room of 13. Much better.

What a dream to drive with clean drivers over the mountain at night! SR restored, podium finish. Of course one salty driver starts accusing me of dirty driving. For this pass:
efV5aCf.gif

He claims I took his line from him and he had to lift cause I was in his way taking the whole corner at the bottom. I've seen it all now, this is some dirty driving by me. I got my time down to 2:04.2, almost had the fastest lap.

Back to Nord. Crap starting 4th, 6 non qualifiers behind me. What's the point lol. And yup, SR Down in T minus two, then the same driver punts me off in T minus one, almost to last. I made it back to 4th during the race, doesn't feel as satisfying to get stuck behind the slower traffic like this.

It makes a huge difference in HDR. I can still see the track with my beams shining through the dust on my 4K HDR tv. On my old 1080p LCD it's blinding.

Well that was crap. I'm really, *really* getting 🤬 off with the discrepancy between handling during qualifying and handling during the race .
I beat last nights qualifying by 4s and started P3/14 on a mixed grid, with a lot of B/S... which pretty well much sums up my experience tonight at Race B.

It was a free for all, and i just coulnt get the car to behave anything like it was. I ended up spending more time cutting the grass than on the tarmac. At one point I was smashed off to the point the car came to a complete stand still. I limped home P13 with a 9s penalty and a very red rating :banghead::banghead::banghead:.

SR down to 78 from 92, DR dropped from 4753 to 2465. Oh Luuuucy I'm hooooome. Welcome back to DR/D . Not a happy head banger.
