LOL, What's wrong with the GT-R? I have mine set to +3 braking. it's a little tail wild, but it turns nice. The Huracan is nice there now. I have mine set to -5, but you have to keep a little throttle on when you head down the hill so the torque doesn't lock the rear too much.

When Mount Panorama was on previously I did an insane marathon run all Saturday long with my typical from the back racing. 80% of the times I got rammed off was by someone driving the GT-R. I've grown to hate that car  This week the GT-R was also responsible for most of my punts, however they are suddenly far more common so it's not that surprising this time.

Next Week's races are up:
A: N300 (car provided) - Willow Springs Big Willow - 5 laps - Sports Hard tyres (last had Willow Springs in August, July was the last time we had N300 here)

B: Gr.3 - Nurburgring GP - 4 laps - Racing Hard tyres (last had this in November, will be interesting with the new BoP)

C: N200 (one make) - Suzuka - 7 laps - Comfort Soft Tyres - x2 fuel, x10 tyre wear (new car/track combo I believe but we have had a decent amount of Suzuka these past months)

Why so slow! At least Big Willow is finally back, 5 laps, only rooms of max 12, N300, you're killing me PD. I want GR.1 daily C back on Big Willow!
Suzuka again, now in slow motion, comfort tires lol.
NGP not my favorite, the boring part of N24 like driving Brand's hatch indy instead of the full circuit.

I guess I'll race every moment I can find this week!

I feel so guilty at times for not knowing all know the names of all the corners on all the tracks like you guys do, I basically know nothing about racing other than how to drive a car lol. I think I’ve watched one real race in my life and that was some nascar 500 in December/November, Daytona maybe? I really need to up my racing knowledge base big time. Any good videos on YouTube I could watch?

Just google a map with the corner names and pretend you know a lot about the track. That's what I do.

I'm not sure you can go full throttle in GR.3 through that section, or if you can it's not that important. I watched Didico15's replay earlier this week and even he lifted off T9 and T10 and managed a 1:58.8.

T6 is easy enough if you gear up to 4th before it but I'm not sure you can safely and consistently make T9 and T10 without lifting a little.

Oh, there are plenty people that do, the sparks look nice at night time. I lift as well for the last 2 corners at Skyline, big risk, tiny reward.

Is there a way to "salvage" Tokyo Expressway? Would it be better if there were fewer cars on the course? Even if it were, is it even technically possible for daily races to host fewer cars than usual, or was it always 12 or 16? Is TE arguably best-raced with relatively slower vehicles, like the older VW Beetle?

Use the curbs and ride them like a fiend for grip stay off the brakes just dabs and as late as you dare if you get out of shape by the third or 4th corner you are going too fast. Aim to hit the Karousel in sub 4 mins. It takes years to "Merkx the 'ring!" - there are are 100's of corners to memorise and fluff one and it all adds up down the line. It's my fave track Don't take off on that awful bump going up the hill before the midspeed section down to Fuchsrohe. There are 3 curbs you can ride for grip the 4th before you brake for the corner should be avoided. The corner is banked so you can hammer it. You don't have to brake much in the next section just in the bends to get the car balanced to turn. The downhill section can be blitzed but it takes a while to learn and wheel users will have an edge. Then its uphill through the forest and the only fast-ish section. Use the curbs. The trick to this track is using the full width, as there isn't much of it in places. From the The Karousel to the second smaller karousel (before the final high speed swervy bit) controlling your speed urge is key. You cannot late brake or get creative more than once or twice without it all coming undone. When you are 3 laps in and on for a record its a bit of a frustrating track but that's why they call it the Green Hell.

I have noticed my biggest problem on the ring. As someone who is still learning how to "attack " it, i will nail one corner, but then because of that i miss my break point on the next one cuse i am faster than what i am used to. Perhaps more practice alone is needed. I did manage two nice runs, though they were mixed in with a few messy ones

It might not help you be up to date on what's happening in the racing world, but for getting that sheer joy of racing feeling, I've been watching Goodwood races on youtube. I especially like watching the formula 1 cars from the 20's thru the 50's. 150 mph, sliding sideways and leaning out of the cockpit around corners with no roll bars or seatbelts...and these guys are pushing! No parade laps here. Check out the bike races, too. Troy Corser on a 1928 supercharged BMW with a solid rear dragging the valve covers around corners.
I watch these old cars race and think we really lost something with all the modern tech and electronics and super sticky tires.

One of my problems at Mount Panorama is that I just don't have the guts to go through the section in the red box at full throttle.

Are you worried about virtual death? Giv'r. What's the worst that can happen?

I wish they never made these tracks. I hate every version of them. I have hated all of the street courses since GT1, with the exception of R246. I skip them in Sport Mode.

Finally got my time down to 2,04,2xx (my goal was to get a time in the 2,04s) and it took a lot of frustration to get there. Many laps perfect laps that got ruined by spinning on one of the final corners. The frustration is that the lap that finally did is a lap that started with hitting a wall and missing my braking points 2 time which caused me to go wide. Now I have to try again because I know I can go faster:(

Thanks for all the info and video suggestions fellas, it’s much appreciated. I’ve got a lot of homework to do to get up to speed. :)

Nurgburgring is one of the hardest track to keep your SR up because it is so difficult to overtake and easy to make mistakes, pretty much a recipe for chaos. If you want to keep doing it then you could try dropping to the back at the start and then cruising around to get your SR up, or if you are fast enough the just put in a great quali time and blast away from the front.

Normally Race C is better for upping your SR, as longer races mean people are less impatient and longer races allow you to gain more SR, but Mount Panorama is a hard track to learn so it might not be the best.

Tough week this week for SR. Even the A race is bad because it is on a city circuit.
That's funny because I started 8th twice and ended up 3rd and 4th respectively.

My body was too tired to do any of the races before today, but here I am now.
I have done just 2 of race a and won both. Quali time of 1:27:999(!), which I know I can do better but I am satisfied already. This z33, it’s a good car, but it definitely understeers for sure. I prefer the z32. What does gtplanet think?
Noticed less c and d ranks in both races. Either less newbs are driving this event due to the car, or more people. Still only gained 200dr though. Not too bad I suppose.

Just did my first race at Nurburgring. No practice. I just figured I'd jump in and cruise around nice and easy to see what it's like. Damn, that car with those tires? Wtf? PD sure does have a good sense of humor. I never hit another car, at all, but I got hit about 10 or 15 times. Every time, orange SR down. Went from 96 to 71.

What the hell. I'm doing it again.

Update: Cranking up the driving aides really helps. Brake bias -4 and TCS 3 feels much better. Got 5th place, but it's at A level.

I managed to reach my goal of getting back to DR.A without qualifying. The last few hundred points were brutal, especially since it was during dirty hour. The last race that put me over the edge was clean, or at least I did not get bumped off. It helped I actually got to start last (very rare) which rules out getting punted off before Flugplatz. I got a 4th place finish after a tight final section.

The difference between DT Gardens without qualifying and Nordschleife.
One day of stagnation when I got in a series of dirty Mount Panorama races, Nordschleife to the rescue.

Patience pays off on the Nordschleife.

Decided to focus on Race B this week. Took till today to be confident enough in the Porsche. My wrists, elbows and fingers ache. Also can't play at my usual morning time because the wheel feedback gets pretty loud even on the lowest setting.

Finally got 2 races in today. 1st race was a bit bumpy at the beginning but otherwise smooth, lost a position and almost 10 SR for swerving/bad speed anticipation on my part. 2nd race was very smooth, manage to gain a spot and some SR back.

Hopefully my body lasts the week.

Next weeks race a will have to be the gt350. I’m just glad pd remembered to use Willow again.
Expecting race c to be with another 86, but Comfort soft tyres make me think otherwise. Why that compound? Hmmm

Holy crap, I log on to do a few laps of old Nordy after spending the last 3 hours trying to figure out how the heck to update this new wheel and what’s the first thing I see, @Sven Jurgens has set an Official Q time, and a damm fast one too, nice work man! That’s one name I didn’t expect to see on the list of Q times lol. :)

The wheel is updated and installed, finally at 10:30pm I can do my first laps of the day haha. I wonder how much different this wheel is gonna be? The pedals are definitely way stiffer even without the brake mod installed. This is gonna be fun! :D

Lol, found out already, I set that time not 10 minutes ago! All those races on the Nord payed off as I only had to restart the first bit a few times which I've never had a chance to drive flat out. I feel like I can go a bit faster yet rather go back to racing. 7:39 not bad with AT :)

@Pigems See you on the track, maybe. Damn nice setup! I can see the advantage already of no one being able to walk in front of the tv

I'm starting 5th, this is going to be different.

And disconnected right before the count down starts :banghead: Oh well, dog wants to go out. Anti-climax.

Haha Busted!! Very nice lap! You’ve got me by 14 seconds, all I’ll be seeing is your tail lights in the distance, if I’m lucky lol. :)

TY Sir, what a difference in this wheel and I haven’t even finished a lap yet. I must have been losing soo much feel before to gear chatter, I can feel the tires slip or lock up now so easily. But I have to learn to how drive all over again, I can’t even keep the car on the track right now because everything feels so different, mostly the pedals, I might have to wear shoes now lol. :)
