I've run quite a few races at BB, race A this week, and recovered my loss of almost 2,000 when I started (that took just a couple of races at the beginning to loose so many DR points). Last night I had some races against mostly the Japanese - Sunday night. Normally that is quite deadly for me but at BB I am not slow. I had a race few races against some good drivers, including an S guy who could run a 32.74 in the race and whose qualifying was a 32.64. I hung behind him for two laps but lost touch on the first corner of lap 3. Darn.

Next race he was there again and he quit before the start. But in that same race, I wanted a win, and the Japanese guy behind me who I had raced before, he hit me softly at the end of the main straight, and I hit the corner wall. I also got a time penalty of 4 seconds and my position too, so I was third but passed the 2nd car quite quickly. But then the next lap the leader who had hit me, he went wide into turn 3 and I caught him back - and now we both had time penalties - but we both spent them at the same time, so the race between us was on, although he still had 0.6 of penalty left. I had backed off while drafting him so I had no penalties left. Then on the last lap, I was right behind him on the straight and leading into the first turn, I also touched him in the back - the same thing that he did to me earlier in the race. Poetic justice maybe - but I did not hit him deliberately, he seemed to brake early, or maybe being so close I did not brake early enough. Maybe he was removing his penalty still. But I had touched him and he got time penalties, lost his position due to the wall and I sailed around onto the main straight for the win just up the road, it being lap 12. But then, I pulled over and let him win.

So instead of making an enemy, I think he will respect me if we ever meet again. He thanked me after the race too. I was bemused by my lack of killer instinct, but now, I reckon I did the smart thing. Better not to make enemies in what is a game anyway.

This an interesting video. I hadn't realized it, but apparently they will just let anybody race on the Nordschleife in their own personal car. First of all, I can't imagine why somebody would, unless they have lots of money and lots of cars, but a lot of these look like daily drivers. Secondly, I'm pretty sure any insurance company would tell you to get lost if you tried to file a claim for damage that happened while racing. Thirdly, the guy at 1:30: Oh my god, I really wish we were able to do that in the game.

I think that the main reason I get along with yhe Tokyo layouts is the exact boundries. Other tracks i may struggle, then see someone using way more curb and it's faster, then past the curbs. With walls I don't have to deal with that, and can concentrate on getting the line right. I don't usually have the time on track that I need to really get up to speed...and it takes more laps now than it did 20 years ago.
That is true. For time trials, The Tokyo tracks are fantastic, as you can really work on the tiny details to get the best lap time. That, and the exact boundaries help as well.

But when it comes to racing with others... That's a different story.

Yup, it‘s called tourist day. They have a morning and an afternoon session as they have to respect the noon break. People live so close by and he track is elevated, so you hear the sound pretty far.

It‘s only 30 minutes from my home, but I would never drive with my own road car there... This is the most difficult race track in the world, and a normal road car is simply not made for it. To counter the shortcomings of such a car you have to be really good on the wheel. Hence the about 5 to 10 wrecks per Tourist day. Witnessed a nice Porsche Panamera crashing only 50 yards away from me at the Flugplatz just a few weeks ago.

What I did do was driving a few laps on a portion of the GP track in a Porsche 911 GT3 RS. Instructor first for 2 laps, then me on the wheel for 10 laps, then two no holds barred laps of the instructor (he wrecked the underbody on the curb of the Dunlop in the process, LOL...)

So yeah, you can have some fun there. Don’t forget to bring some dough though :guilty:

Did you watch this one as well, looks like a lot of fun :)

Check out the guy at 5:50, needs a quick stop, motion sickness haha.

Got my Lexus ready for tomorrow

Now I need to know what the car for the Nordschleife is!

Yes it is true, all you need is a driver's license, btw it is amazing

Edit, it is considered a highway just like the autobahn

Kay so took a few days break from dailies only to go back for a couple run and turns out people have been getting good. I've not lol.

Im way off pace

I've noticed as the week progresses and I get better at a given event so is everybody else. Its to the point if you've not kept up all week you fall off pace. Dedicate some hours to getting you pace back on par or get ready to lose DR lol

I like the way you race.

My wife took my son to meet relatives in Germany, he's 26 now but he was 6 then. I tried to book a "Taxi" ride for him - at the time, it was I think a V10 M5 BMW. But it was booked out for many months. But they could take him in a race car ... it cost over 400 Euro, back then. It was a Porsche Club day too there my wife said ... the car they claimed was the one that was the winning car at the previous 24 hour race there - it was a yellow Dodge Viper - like a GT3 type car. I'm still not sure if it was a facsimile or not, but it had a special 2nd seat and an issue was the heat from the firewall which was huge.

My son said the driver lit up the tyres on a normal road in 3rd gear "to warm them". The driver (one of the Viper's race car drivers, the thing was organised by Zakspeed who said they had almost finished doing all the data for Gran Turismo for their game's coming usage of the track) said he had never had someone so light - and my son said they were going past GT3 and Turbo Porsches like there were very slow cars. The second lap was very lose to an 8 minute one - so my son's been in a car that beat Phil Hill's 1961 achievement of going under 9 minutes for the first time - in the 1961 shark nose F1 GP Ferrari car. But thank God my son loved sailing rather than motor sports ... and Oh I think they loose a life or more a year at the track.

Sabine Schmitz, Hans Stuck and other drivers used to drive that car since they were BMW works drivers at that time. Especially Sabine was quite talkative, there are videos of rides with her („Queen of the ring“) on youtube. Search for „Sabine Schmitz Renntaxi“

For his 40th birthday I bough my brother a lap in a Vantage GT3 on the ring. Unfortunately once he got time and wanted to claim his ride they asked about his weight; copilot is allowed max. 90 kilograms since they cannot balance the car if he or she is heavier... like he was.

TTM
Interesting car choice.
Didn’t expect that one.
Oh please PD! A track with nearly 100 years of racing history! You could‘ve chosen a brand with a historic connection to this track! Porsche! BMW! Audi! Mercedes! Ferrari! Instead you again chose a Japanese thing with next to none registrations in Germany!:banghead:

You can “arrive and drive” it’s technically a public road I believe. I know that my car insurance doesn’t cover me for driving on it

Race A - One Make (500 F '68) Maggiore Center.

Pretty sure that was the race where I first tried
Yep. First sport race i dipped my toes in.

Me too and just "raced" again (took a time-out from work!!) for the first time in over a week! Yay!

I put up a time and took a picture of me in the top 10. Only 5 times were posted but yay me.

Is that a sub-1:08 I see there!!
