I think this race C I will make with this new mclaren, never used it but seen a lot last week. Lets see if it can make up on fuel/tires.

I used the VW Sandal and it needed a refuel after one lap. Saw quite a few McLarens, obviously the long straight will give it a boost, but it is slower round twisty corners so I wonder what the overall race time is, as the fastest laps are being set with the GR Supra.

First night at the Nurb and it was chaos! I qualified with the M3, put in a pretty crappy time, but found myself P5/20 on a mixed grid of SR/S and A, and DR/A to D. Then I noticed half the grid didn't qualify!!! I knew this was going to be painful.. just didn't know how painful :nervous:.

Auto drive lets us loose and I was doing well through T1 and managed to maintain P5 all the way to Bit-Kurve. I went a bit wide, mashed the loud pedal a bit too soon, and ended up with two wheels in the sand. No one would let me back onto the track so I was down to P10 by the time I could safely re-enter the track. Then I get royally slammed up the arse at Veedol, cut across the chicane with my brakes on and struggle to get back onto the track :scared:. Then just as I'm about to finally claw my way back onto the tarmac, the code written by the crack head that decides when to repawn in this game re-spawns me.. another 5 places lost :banghead::banghead::banghead:. The handling is now FUBAR and I'm struggling in 15th place just to stay on the track long enough to scrub the tyres without adding excessive wear. I clawed back a couple of places when I pitted.

I decided the wear meter suggested I could get away with double stinting the hards, fill up and get on my merry way. I came out in P10 half inside another car, with another couple of cars about 1s ahead. I screwed up T2and ended up so wide I nearly hit the fence. I think I got airborne too. I had the most amazing view of another 5 cars drive on through .

The race kinda went downhill from there. I had been beaten and bashed around, made up positions, lost positions, got bullied, shunted, pounded and punted. Finishing P13. Not happy Jan :grumpy:.

Much damage? Ya should see the damage Bronze. Metal damage. Brain damage! SR dropped still further, down to 76. That's 22 pts in 2 races . DR loss was only a couple of hundred, so the DR/C budget still has a few races before I return home to DR/D. My guess I'll be there by the end of the week :dopey:.

I have 8 German Gr3 cars (9 if you count the *other* M6). So I'll be driving a different German car each day on the ring. Day 4 clattering through DR/C .

It seems I'm not the only one thinking both GT3 mercedes handle the nurburgring's bumps way better than any other Gr3 car

The big problem is that it's is impossible to keep your SR fine when you end up in the pack. And in SR S or A DR B, there is not 15s between the leading group and the pack, more like 4-5s. If you're fighting in the leading group and you get pushed out of the track, the time you get back on tracks you are either just in front of the pack (which inevitably sees you as an easy oportunity to get one spot) or in it. And unless you are 5s faster than the pack, you will not manage to avoid the diving, and the unfair blocking that causes DR drop.

If like what you describe, I was just losing a bit of DR because i finish badly when I get push out of the track, I would not complain. But the way it is, if I can't qualify first, I can not keep my SR up.

Bumps from the back with a significantly higher speed in braking zone need to be 10s of immediate penalty or more. And PD need to get their **** together and come up with a decent penalty system than can't be exploited so easily.

In GT sport it goes like in real life : Take a group of 6 cars (A, B,C D, E, F)
Only B is dirty, so lap 1, turn 1, he pushes A and take the lead. A ends up in the middle and is pretty pissed. B is making dirty blocks on C, so A is catching up on C. C is getting annoyed of being blocked so he starts to defend more aggressively, A wants revenge on B so he needs to pass C fast, and does it a bit too aggressively. Now C is also pissed at A (...)
Reaching lap 5, everyone is pissed for a different reason, and everyone race more aggressively and dirtier than at the start.

The only way to prevent this is to penalize strongly dirty racers so that they don't contaminate everyone with their bad behavior, and that people feel like "OK I lost some positions, but at least this dirty racer is not a problem anymore, he did not gain advantage from pushing me, and he got penalized significantly more than me".

Very well described. There are not that many intentionally dirty players. But 2 or 3 of them are enough to make a whole race a nightmare. In addition, there are the many accidents due to faulty or over motivated driving. This together destroys the races in DR B SR S I'm driving right now. Yesterday I experienced that again. I was on P3 before P4 and we together about 2 seconds ahead of a larger group. At the end of lap 1, the P4 driver divebombs me. I lose time there and am in front of the big group. Everyone from the group has seen the divebomb. Everyone knows now that he can overtake me like this. That's exactly what happens in the following rounds. Everytime I'm in the same place I'm divebombed again. I can not do anything about that. Partially I drive totally inside with 2 wheels in the grass and partly completely outside. No chance, it's like having a sign saying 'victim' over my car. It's like mobbing in the schoolyard. Anyone who has been bullied is considered to be weak and vulnerable, and that ensures that it happens to him again and again. Only strict rules help. But these rules must also be monitored and violations punished accordingly. This is where GT Sport totally fails.

Got the Mini down to a 6.0, it’s gonna take a while to beat that one. I think I’m gonna move on to Race B now. :)

Nice time, I think my best was 6.8 and I remember struggling to break 7.0. You should try for a 5.X.

Probably just me but It's painful to have a QT with a .0 so I usually aim for a .9 because it always feel like unfinished business.

Thanks. I was about to load up DT Seaside but decided to go back to chase that tenth. Then I come on here and see your post as it’s loading, I couldn’t leave it there either.

Do you faster drivers use traction control?

I was watching a You Tube video of a guy who compared times with it off and then on.

He was faster with it at 0 and complained that, at 2, it restricted him too much

What do you guys do? I'm at 2 because any lower, when I come out of a turn and try to accelerate, I spin
When I gave it up for good, I slowed a fair bit ... but eventually I was quite a bit faster without it.

I was like you - I would spin with TC on 1. I actually found it easier on zero, than TC 1. But on both I would spin. Also, I was faster with TC on out of many corners.

Driving the Porsche RSR GR3 car, I liked that car, and I found with TC on 2, that coming out of a corner with the car turning, the TC would slow the car. I found if I came out of the corner and got the car straight as soon as I could, the TC did not slow the car down nearly as much. So I learn't to straighten the car when applying power. When you can do that by feel, then you can turn TC off. Also, using a wheel, I can feel the dynamics of the car much more clearly with TC off.

As far as ABS off goes, in the GR3 R8 at Suzuka, I was faster with ABS off. Except that I kept locking up at the hairpin - the 180 degree very slow turn. I have good pedals too ... so one day I hope to learn how to brake gently for slow turns and then I'll turn ABS off ... maybe.

Oh and I often turn TC on at starts if I'm going to have to start in the middle of a corner. Its a major benefit because the car is often "not real" at the starts so ABS gets me through a first corner, but I'll turn it off before second gear.

I put serious time into last weeks Race A with the Miata and managed 10th in NA with at least 30 race wins. Even had a streak of 16 clean consecutive races which was amazing.

This week my goal is to get ino A+ Driver Rating, I have about 1100 to go. I've decided to put some serious time into this game and am ready to put in the non stop laps to get better. I do have to say the races with clean drivers is so enjoyable and I'm finding more and more people are clean in the higher DR range, I had some great races with a lot of good people.

Also I'm 5 races away from 91 wins and close to 322 race trophies.

Did a few practice laps and did 1 Race A. Picked green. Green is the fastest. :sly:

Logged a QT of 1:06.382. Got me P3. Finished 2nd. But lost 7 SR for a block.

Car who started in front of me was DR D. I was determined not to finish behind them. I lost most of my DR last week to cars with faster QTs but DR D rank. I suspect these are new alt accounts for drivers who are better than their rank suggests. It kind of sucks that I get one every race in front of me. ie last week I move up 2 spots against DR B but finish behind a DR D who qualified faster, net loss of DR.

Good to hear.

I managed a 1:06:3. It's my overall best out of previous Suzuka/Mini races which I'm pretty satisfied with so I'll hold it for now.

Thanks, and congrats on the PB!! Great work man. Now get out there and beat it again! ;)

This was the first combo I ever tried in Sport Mode last October and the one I got my first few wins on as well, so I wanted to look back at my time from that week, it was 1:09.8. I beat that today by nearly 4 full seconds! I think I was still driving automatic then and I was definitely still using my right foot only. It’s cool that you can look back like that to see how you’ve improved over time. :)

I wanted to go with something different this week so I randomly picked the Hyundai Genesis.
Managed to set a 8:10 after some laps. The car is pretty good to drive.

First race of the day I get matched with Turismo-lester in the Porsche. Managed to stay with him until the end of lap 1.
After breaking the draft he quickly opened up a gap of 4-5 seconds and in the end I finished 5.5 behind him.
Still, quite happy with that and the Hyundai is no slouch.

What’s the best way to lose DR without causing problems for other players?

I too have noticed that races tend to be cleaner at SR C/B.
Just don't qualify, and drop to the back of the pack. May go faster if you bash the walls to lose SR too, but I have never tested that. It will still take a while running at the back, but that is definitely the least impactful.

Any idea which race would be the best to get my SR back to S ?
I skipped the FIA manufacturer race because I did not want to enter with a SR lower than S, now my SR is C and I need to do something about it.

Maybe Race C. Don’t try Race B, at least right now. People can’t drive worth jack.

Race A. It's very easy to gauge other cars since it's mostly all out in 3rd gear with only 2 braking points. If you chose a passive approach there's plenty of time to watch everything around you and stay clean.

And whatever race, don't qualify. I think the reason you can enter a race without a qualifying time is specifically to allow players to increase SR from the back without losing DR.

So, would you suggest I put it at 0, struggle for awhile, and learn to drive this way?

My first post here!

I spent several hours lapping in the Mazda on the Daily Race A that's just expired. I managed second place quite a few times, but never got a first place. I have mixed feelings seeing it go away - I missed out on ever getting that first but at least I can have my life back ;) (at least, until I try one of the new daily races).

The best I ever got in qualifying was 13.077. I just couldn't see where people were finding any more time! I thought carefully about my line, traction, gear selection, and settled on TCS 0 and Brake Balance 2 (rear), which seemed best for me. I guess the fact that I was consistently getting 2nd place in races means I can't have been too far off the optimal line.

I'm playing on a DS4 pad, but once I've moved house (soon) I'll probably pick up a wheel. Not sure how much difference that will make; we'll see!

Oh well!
Welcome! :gtpflag:

I got my DT time down to a 48.0 in the TT, there’s still a ton more time there, I’m just not great on this track, I haven’t raced on it much. But I’ve got all week to work on it. :)

Edit: Down to 47.8 now in the TT, BB is at -2(to the front). :)

Did the mini have a sequential gearbox the last time this combo came around?

I can’t remember and they’re so random with when they do and don’t give us one it’s hard to know for sure. Like why the Mini this week and not the Mazda last week? It’s almost like someone at PD just forgets to set it to sequential before posting the combos at times.
