I was completely out of my depth to begin with. Maybe 10/15 seconds a lap slower. I've found I need to concentrate more, and as such, my consistency does have lapses. I'm only about 7 weeks into the switch, with maybe 35/40 hours of wheel time.

I'm happy that I'm starting to match my best DS4 times. But I'm under no illusion that I'm near the end of the learning curve. My optimal time for Race B is currently a 58.5. Must work on that consistency
7 weeks you say? You seem to be approaching it well. Hell, you've already hit a faster lap time than me on Race B. I've only managed a 2:00.240. The thing with me was; I bloomed too quickly then ended up withering. I was hitting roughly the same times with a DS4, with the same assists level (ASM off, ABS on, TCS 2), and I was able to adapt with just two hours of acclimatization. I then started climbing quickly to DR B, where my hotshot mentality was absolutely snuffed by opponents who knew the track better than me, and were also racing with fewer assists.

I've been racing with a wheel for over a year now, and have still yet to get back to that level. I think I'm slowly starting to get there. Just because you can drive a car in real life does not mean you can just translate those skills to a racing game. You have to start with the mentality that 'you know nothing', because then you can open yourself up. You seem to be doing that, so I think that you'll eventually be better than me, if you aren't already.

Shout out due for @ASH32, only had time for one race inbetween shifts so i wanted it to be good and it was.

We started one and two on the grid but i got a poor start and he got a good one so we were close into t1, me slightly ahead but on the outside so a recipe for disaster, I left just enough room but didn't back out as I was pretty sure i could trust him to race clean and fair and he did, no collision, no pushing wide, and we came out one and two  which we held till the end.

Although you did take fastest lap from me :ouch: lol good race dude 👍

Yes I could have used boost to get ahead in T1 but I'd only cause an accident or hold you up so I didn't, I saved it all until after pit, hence the fastest lap. I can't match your pace but should have finished about 5 or 6 seconds behind you but stupidly ran a wheel off exiting the S bends on lap 11 and then got done by a back marker ghosted in the degners on the last lap, second time one has distracted me there, I need to get better at that and at least this time the driver wasn't driving the wrong way around the track.

What is your DR/SR, if I may ask?
I'm a C/A - just one away from an S but quite a way from a B rating.

Guess I just need get plenty of practice in - or bail on any (for me) blistering qualy laps until I learn the car/track combo properly.

Cheers mate appreciate it 👍 I think I switched my tc to 0 way too early and just got tonnes of wheelspin and had to get out of the throttle.

You were rapid to be fair, I think I ran a 20:11 that race and I could not gap you after the pits, you held me at about 4 seconds until lap 8 or 9 or whenever it was you touched the green.

Also i hit a ghosting car through degner too and I know what you mean it's properly distracting on the corner you need the most timing and accuracy through! Just gave a decent lift to be safe but so easy to lose your reference with it

It was probably the same car, it wasn't going anywhere, I should have backed out too really, but didn't and went through it and off track. Lucky the gap to 3rd was about 12 seconds before those late errors.

Not much racing for me lately although I decided to try Race A at the Gardens. Qualified with a 1.52:5 which gave me P8 in a lobby from outer space (several A+ including a top 10).

I started out fine until sector 3 turn 9 where I managed to drive into the wall after braking too late which dropped me to last. I had a gap of 7 seconds so there was no feasible way to catch up. I didn't see a point leaving the race. It's practice and not very long so I stuck it out. I ended P10 because someone disconnected so not a complete disaster. I still feel like a turnip for making that mistake.

My other race had me on pole in a mostly DR B lobby with a few Ds. Turn 2 - 4 was kind of ropy. P2 looked like he had a plane to catch and bloodthirsty to pass at all costs. He narrowly missed hitting me at the turn leading to the straight. I was slow entering onto the straight so P3 passed me as well. The now P2 divebombed P1 at turn 5 like one of those pool shots. I managed to avoid both since they were brawling after their coming together. It was plain sailing from there. I won with a gap of 8 seconds. Kind of a hollow victory but I'll take it.

I'm down to 1:39.9 in the SF after playing around with controller sensitivity so I may try racing again over the next few days. Still very far from a good time compared to others I've seen here :boggled:.

Same for me, I use wheel thou. This understeer is just ruining the whole game for me in sport mode. I have watched the top replays, and I dont have the grip to keep same corner speeds. If I have same line, I must slow down to keep hitting the apex, the front grip is not good enough to keep same lines and speeds. My C qualy is 1:38.6, and no way in h*** there is almost 3 sec faster time possible with these physics.
I was able to get times 1-1.5 sec slower than top 10 before, but the understeer problem was getting worse last week for me.
Now I'm constantly 2-3sec slower.
When the SF19 cars came to GT, I was surprised how balanced the tune was, and hoped that the race tune would be as good.
No way Hose, why the tunes are so understeery????
I watched the replay of the top time, and from what I was seeing, I was actually keeping up with him in most of the 1st sector, but he gained a lot of time on me in the Degners. He took Degner 1 flat out and braked on the curb and very late for Degner 2. The only way I can take Degner 1 flat out is to put 2 wheels on the inside grass, and I have to brake way earlier than he did for Degner 2, and I can't even think about braking with wheels on the curb, otherwise I'll go straight on at Degner 2. He also obviously was faster elsewhere to end up over 2 seconds quicker than me, but to me that was the most glaring difference.

Being 2-2.5s off the pace wouldn't bother me so much if the game still matched me with people setting comparable times, but for the last several months I've been constantly placed with people in or near the top 10 times and I barely even have a chance of getting a podium anymore, especially since they LOVE repeating only the tracks I'm terrible at...

I haven't run as many races as I thought I would, but I feel many players should have gotten used to the handling. Feels like I'm bein g held up each race. Probably more to do with players saving fuel.

I mean, I did conserve in a couple races, because I messed up. Now, I go flat out, top up and flat out again. There are more than enough laps left to catch & pass players.

Well this is usually the point of practicing. Something which I didn't realise until very recently. Don't attempt to prove yourself too quickly. Pretend you know nothing. It definitely isn't going to pay off immediately, but you will find yourself building a much more solid demeanor once you get stuck in. As a few have said above me, no there is no way of invalidating your qualifying time for a daily race, unfortunately. 👍

Morning run yielded a 38.6.
Racing last night gave me a much better feel for the car. This car is very well setup for my style. You can easily induce over or understeer since it’s so well balanced. It’s does rotate really nicely on throttle or you can throttle it into a push.
I’d say for me it’s way easier at Suzuka in this car vs say a gr4.
Great combo, this.

What the hell? I'm up to A/S status. Get put in a room of A/S players and they're idiots!

I'm 14th. The player in 15th runs into the kitty litter at the hairpin. Quits the race.
Up ahead, a 4C or 911 is ghosting with 4 seconds. It's far left on the uphill penalty zone straight. It's not serving the penalty as it just got one. I'm passing it on the far right. It slams into me before the turn!
I go sailing off track. As I enter the track, the other car goes off track and quits!

Then, same Lap, three 911s are knocking each other around at the final turn. I pass them all. Going up T1, one of them is hitting my rear bumper. Just about trying to bump me out the way! I brake check him and it goes of track. Another one comes and tries to bump me off. I lose ground and get 4 seconds while they all speed away!

I'm the solo blue flag in the room mind you. iIncreible!

I can dig it. I wish Race B and C were swapped though. Id rather the Gr.3s have tire wear and fuel on.

Shush it!! This is the first time Catalunya has been used in the weeklys since it's release. Wear or no wear, that track is great with Gr3's.

You want wear, go race Fuji....I know damn well I won't touch that SR cesspool.

This might seem like a stupid question, but how are people sharing these win photos? Are they shared to some other platform (like twitter or something) before sharing here?

Yes, I share straight to twitter.

Just got a clean race from 16th to 15th, but back down to B. Crazy.

so i am shushing it because i want tire wear and fuel on for the gr3/catalunya combo instead of trash fuji n200? ...ok then

I'm saying shush it because it could be Suzuka again

Try again. It's been used a few times. Last time I *think* was a Race C Gr3. That's where I found out about how dodgy tyre wear on the R8 is :p.

That was the first time it was used. Gr3, Race C. Then people figured out that you could use the original GP track to do faster laps and the track has not been in Sport Mode since.

I could be wrong, but I don't recall ever seeing it in Sport Mode since the fixed the track cut issue.

Yep. Gr.3. Race C. In November, during the mass race start glitch that had cars skipping all over the place.

I don't know. With N200 cars, it seems like it might actually be enjoyable.

I just snap it with the 'SHARE' button as soon as it appears, copy it to USB, and attach it here. I don't want to mess with social media

News from the other end of the spectrum.......

Comfortably back up to SR 99 points. The 200+ DR I gained the other evening were lost immediately the next morning as I worked to regain SR.
Somehow I managed a Clean Race, up to 99 SR and over 300 DR today! Amazing as I only gained a few places here and there.

Notable event today, which really, really hacked me off was in the B race. I was at the back, bar one, a VW Beetle that did not post a Q time (I did and was last, apart from the Beetle). So, we all set off and it was clear the car behind was faster in the corners but slower in the straights (I was in the R8 - bought it after seeing @Voodoovaj time!). So, normally I would have pulled over and let the car through.... why not, much faster and don't want a crash..... but the total 🤬 started flashing headlights at me!!! 🤬 that! Did everything I possibly could to obstruct and slow him/her down. Which backfired badly after s/he punted me really hard in a corner, span me into the sand and that was basically race over. Carried on and was pleased to see it finished only one place ahead of me, had penalties and I still gained a place or two due to quitters and other accidents.

Pretty childish of me to get so wound up by an online game..... but, there you go.

but it isn't and I just wanted tire wear and fuel on for gr3 because it is more fun... you make no goddamn sense.

so why don't you shush it and mind your business.

He was just having fun. The never ending repeating Japanese tracks have become a bit of an inside joke around here.

i am aware. i just don't enjoy being told to shush when it makes no sense. i wasn't asking for a different track than catalunya.

I was pretty sure there had been at least one Gr4 race there, but looking back through my screenshots, I could only see qualifying times from that first Gr3, so either I didn't race at all (unlikely) or that was the only time. Shame. It's an interesting track. :odd:

From memory it was used once before as a Gr3 race but that was back when half the players were cutting the last chicane. The Porsche was a beast back then, I presume it will still be the car to have.

E-phone was slow so I missed everyone saying the same
