Was thinking about this today. A theory on daily races:

We can't have the same combo (or track at least) as whatever is running in the Nations or Manufacturers cup for that week/next couple of weeks/next month. So we get whatever combo left that they can cook up.

Or, as we've already surmised its a Japanese company loving on Japan. Probably just that.

I had time for 2 races (daily C) this morning. First race I barely made it in the room in time, started warm-up to feel out the car and was confused the track was going backwards doh. Then it turned out I started on the wrong tires as well, So no clue about braking points, wrong tires, let's go. Of course there was chaos. I started 15th of 19 and managed to avoid most of it although I still got bumped off once. I pitted in lap 5 seeing as I wasn't going to make it on fuel, switched to mediums for the last 3 laps and finished 8th. Not too bad for having no clue lol.

Second race I figured I would try a no stop on hards, cause why not, I was too late again to change tires. (Why does warm-up completed boot you out of the tire select screen grrr) I'll tell you why not. The game merely offers the illusion of having a choice, the reality, no stop does not work with this penalty system. I started 9th of 15, only 7 qualified. First couple laps I get bumped off 3 or 4 times until I'm in last, cause well hard tires vs medium tires. Each time I get the SR Down since I don't leave the road soon enough I guess. I claim a few positions back, then everyone pits and I end up in 5th. Doesn't matter. Every time a fresh medium tire car comes behind me they are incapable of the simplest passing manoever and I get bumped off another 3 times, each with SR Down again until I'm in 10th where I finish.

At the end only one white rating, rest all blue. This game is a joke now. I reported the whole room as there was no race craft. Just a lot of bump and barge passing. Oh well, it's only Monday, it should get (slightly) better. Not a good start with a penalty system that seems to have gone on holiday early. Hit from behind in the braking zone, SR Down, when is it going to be fixed.

Bank holiday Monday and flat to myself.

Race A: 1.44.714 in qually. Just didn’t feel that fun. Copen was more fun. I would say it’s gonna be pinball at Tokyo, but the car not have much get up and go about it. Did about 15 laps to get a time with 3% of top EU time. That’s probably me done in race A.

Race B: 1.39.674 in Aston. It’s nice around here and I don’t normally use it. I wanted some grunt out of the last corner. Clearly you’ve got to get below 1.39 to start up front in DR B. Did a few races in second account to improve SR there. Wasn’t as chaotic as I expected.

Anyone else in Aston? I’ve got BB at +3.

Had a busy weekend with no time for racing unfortunately, including missing the Saturday night races hosted by @Pigems :( I did however enjoy being outside pretty much all day sat and sun. I think winter might be over finally.

Not a big fan of this weeks races. The A race is ok i guess, i hate the fit though. No offense intended to anyone who feels different, but my parents have one and i absolutely hate driving it irl. Race B maybe, if i can get up to pace. Doubt i will try C....

Race a time is currently 1.45.518 with room for more opt is a .289

Why the Fit? Why not the Trueno? I will race it but can't help but feel like it's the far less fun option.

Yep, pretty disappointed. I thought the Trueno and Tokyo would go hand in hand. I guess No One Sleep In Tokyo for me.

The Fit isn't a bad car for that track. I think we'll get a Trueno one-make eventually. But honestly, if they would've done N100 for Race A at Tokyo, that would've pleased a lot more folks. It feels like step back considering how they handled Race A last week.

Started 2nd with Viper, 1st Megane and 3rd a Huracan. End of lap 1 i lost grip of the car and almost ended the huracan race (got a penalty of 2 second for forcing him wide and off track) then T1 i early brake and got punted which threw me to the same Huracan :indiff:

Went to 7th place and managed to recover 2 places (i feel bad for the 86 driver, couldn't keep up the straight lol).
Bummed by that race, it seemed to be a close one with top 3 but i tend to mess up at start of race everytime whenever i start in the firsts place

It's way too easy to gain SR at race C. I got at least 4 SR downs because of being hit by 2 guys who come from the same place. I guess we're not allowed to talk about geography anymore. Still got a blue rating.

I guess we're not allowed to talk about geography anymore.
There has not been a change of rules.

It is entirely reasonable to refer to the nationality (or region) of a driver with whom you have had interactions - positive or negative. There's no innate lack of value in noting it. I had a nice race the other day with a Polish driver on my FIA EMEA account, but I had a less than nice race with a Costa Rican driver on my US account.

It is not reasonable to refer to drivers of that nationality (or region) with a blanket negative stereotype. Aside from the confirmation bias, it's rude and has always been against the GTPlanet rules. And we are GTPlanet, not GTEnglishspeakingcountries or GTNorthamerica. We have members here from the nations that people often like to make comments about. Do you think that it makes the site and its members seem more welcoming and friendly when they read these comments?

It's remarkable that this needs explaining :boggled:

Just did my first race C of the week in the AMG. Was a fun race moving from 11th to 6th pitting once using all medium tyres. Didn't once think about fuel saving until I went into the pits and saw how little I had left
I don't think a no stopper would work but would love to be proved wrong. I'm sure I could have gone faster with a little fuel saving to save time in the pits, but driving to make the tyres and fuel last 8 laps doesn't sound like a load of fun.

Race B could be interesting with clean players that respect the track. But it can be filled with nightmares too.

Round 1 - Grid P16 Race P15: Lost 2 positions at the penultimate lap due to someone hitting me off the track while trying to overtake. Give and take aye I'd say, doesn't really pay off to be risky but conservative since Interlagos is kind of my weaker tracks that I need to learn from the back. Ended up with a 1 second penalty because someone forgot to be conservative and ended up knocking me airborne for some cone time.

Round 2 - Grid P15 Race P12: Exchanged swords cleanly with this Japanese player till he started playing bumper cars with my Huracan. Ended up skidding off turn 4 because of all the distractions and on-site ballerinas. So after all the annoying tapping and bumping, I got kind of sick of the joke and decided to tag the annoying player into a mess, that moment he skidded into the grass at the last corner was like an elegant 5 seconds of shame. That 4 second penalty was worth serving, since he finished behind me. Since SR S wasn't a nice playground with all the "dirty" players leaking in, I had to deliberately drop my SR grade to A in hope of getting some proper action. Feeling evil in this race with consequences, but I felt happy right after that moment when I served some lesson to him.

Round 3 - Grid P15 Race P10: Almost got P9 by an inch, but it was pretty much clean in the start. Another player playing a little bumper car with me, so I had to step back a little and watch him yield penalty time. Not too bad this time, much better than the previous two races. If the race lasted another lap I would have probably climbed just another spot, while holding off the mobile chicanes.

Interesting on trying a no stop with the RCZ but i don't know if i should bother with Hards at this point. Medium can carry well enough

I completely agree with that. 👍 Individual interactions is all I would be mentioning. I have a bunch of folks from South America on my friends list, that I like racing with. Making a blanket statement about an entire nationality is pretty ignorant.

To get my complaining out of the way before I start the weeks races, it's kind of a letdown that Race A is a one-make.

Last weeks Race A was interesting in that I saw quite a few drivers challenging themselves with a car they knew to be slower. I think a race like last weeks Race A could have even added a small BOP adjusted "car handicap bonus" for those racing the non-meta car as an additional challenge to try during the week. The bonus isn't really important. It's the acknowledgement of achievement that would be rewarding.

The Fit isn't a bad car for that track. I think we'll get a Trueno one-make eventually.

I'm inclined to agree about the Fit and hopefully you're right about Tureno. I just figured the Tureno would be a more natural fit for an N100 Race A on Tokyo. Maybe there was an internal vote for both cars since they were added in the 1.38 update and the Fit came out on top.

Either way, I'm enjoying Race A way more than I thought. Could be it's this particular track I prefer over other Tokyo layouts and it's not used very much. The last time was with the Tesla a while back which I enjoyed as well.

What I enjoy the most about that Tokyo COL layout is that there's no real need to hard brake or come to a full stop (unless you're trying to avoid hitting someone). It's mostly soft braking points.

I still prefer the other Tokyo Center layout tbh but maybe because i don't race this often so i don't feel the flow yet.
Some of the soft braking points still feels awkward to me

Busy Bank Holiday weekend here too. and I probably won't be online tonight either. Have Game of Thrones to catch up on. #winterisstillhere #nospoilers

1:40.1 so far on race B. Using the evo for these laps it turns in so well just worried about the straights :/

I got 6 or 7 SR Downs from getting hit from behind, still blue :boggled:
Sven, this should look familiar to you. It's lap 1 of the second race that I attempted from the back, this morning. It may not look like it, but I was really just trying to be non-aggressive, and avoid hitting anyone. I even drove off track on the sweeping right-hander to avoid the blue car that got loose at the bottom. There were a couple of minor contacts that were my fault, but the biggest problems happen when I'm following someone who does something unexpected.

*Side note: the guy in the yellow car was the only A+. He also did not qualify. I guess he showed his smarts by not challenging me for position, entering the downhill esses, which is where the worst crash happened. :banghead: He ended up better off for making that concession. 💡

*One other thing. The Corvette really chews up it's front tires.

You need power for straights. Realized my Viper can't compete against TT and Huracans but i can gain decent time on the mid sector .

Are you managing to draft them on the straights? I might try a few laps in the Merc

Lap1? lol. Sorry for laughing.

I don't think anything is intentionally dirty. If I were brutally honest, I'd say it looks like a lot of of drivers are unfamiliar with the track and are surprised by the turns.

1:38.879 with the SLS atm. Seems decent on the straights.

Did a couple race c’s on my euro account, started on mediums and pit on lap 3 for hards. It seemed to work alright.

I love GTSport but man, the online is really flawed.
I was really frustrated that day I made that post.
Like really, went from 9th to 5th but ended up rage quitting because even though the other guys were making mistakes and I was gaining the places, in the end, people were getting so desperate that they were battling each other's position at EVERY TURN while I was doing it properly on the first turn and the last one.
Really there is no place to overtake without having contact at Suzuka.
It is a very small course.

Yeah, not qualifying is great if you want to train your overtakes, except when you don't know the track, and end up in the middle of other people not knowing the track.
I have to say this track in reverse looks disturbing. I don't think I'm gonna try it.

Can someone tell me how much SR is to be gained with a clean race B?

I had some time to race Saturday afternoon so thought I would get on and run a couple daily's but noticed the FIA races were starting in a few minutes. I quickly entered the manufacturers race and tried to set a quali but it was impossible to setup a good lap as every time I tried there was someone burning fuel and not getting off the racing line so I thought I had set the worst qualifying time imaginable but ended up getting P2!

I started with soft's and was able to quickly pass the pole sitter after turn 1 as he went a little wide. I had a 4.5 second lead ahead of the pack on lap 5 and decided to pit and I went with mediums as I thought I could keep up a fast enough pace to keep P1 with them. I came out of the pits in 3rd and was able to pass P2 in the last segment and P1 went in for new tires so I was back into 1st after a lap. I was able to gain another 4 second lead by the end of the race and I got my first ever FIA race win!

After that I entered a Race C and was in the warmup when the phone rang and I had to go... so over the week I was only able to have 2 daily races. I gotta try to find more time to race.

Right. It's a Monday morning with a new car/track combo. :scared: It was a long race, but I ended up 6th, with a blue rating. At about the 2:10 mark you can see the blue car make a really terrible entry into the downhill esses. It had no chance of working out. However, I was looking at the yellow car and my turn-in point (which I missed).

I'm pretty familiar with the track, but had close to zero experience with the car I was using. With another car, on my other profile, I set a lap time that would've got me 2nd on the starting grid. My RPMcMurphy01 account doesn't own that particular car. I'll probably buy that car and qualify on Thursday.
