But that is a problem for the other cars as you get smoked on the straights then have to brake earlier than usual if you don't want to divebomb or punt the other guy away. Yesterday, I had a situation where I braked behind an F1 just early enough to not touch him and the guy behind me punted me into the F1 in front of me, taking him out...

All in all, I had fun in Le Mans, my first daily race experience in a long time. I did 2 races on monday w/o qualifying and came 11th and 10th. Yesterday I qualified 3:59:4 with the SLS and did three races, starting 5/3/3 and ending up 3/7/3 (I'm a midpack BS driver).
Did some qualifying in the Mustang after the three races and improved to 3:57:9 which should give me a good starting position in BS. Looking forward to the next races (likely on Thursday evening).

SR was 99 before my first Le Mans race and never dropped. I don't go for any tiny gap and try to give others breathing space. Most of the time, that works.
Nice to see someone else whose SR doesnt seem to bounce through crazy peaks and valleys... Can't remember not being S rank.

Low DR.B here
I'm the low 3.58, i start top 3 most of the time.

Btw The fastest lap in Europe was done cutting the track, this guy must be exploiting some track limit tolerance related to lag or something, because the replay shows 4 wheels out all the time.

My DR B is in the middle around 20.000, my time is like yours and my start position always in the front.
I wonder about the penaltys, because it is like a lottery. I am now at the level to drive more than 3 laps with an intervall of .2 seconds slower as my QT. But always driving the same line, but sometimes I got a penalty and sometimes none. I wonder, because I know that I need always one wheel on the road, so I do, but the system.

I just raced my first C race of the week. Totally forgot about the overtake. Raced from the back and worked my way from 18th to 4th on the last lap. Had 3 seconds on 5th and was catching 3rd, just under 2 seconds back, and I got waaay sideways coming out of the first hairpin and drove through the grass (tcs 0, bb +2). Finished 7th. Maybe I can lower my Q by using the boost.

BTW. Kudos to @Groundfish . I saw your top 10 this morning. Nice lap!

Thanks man, new lap is barely holding up by a thread...T1 pitch and catch!

P5 on the grid on Race B is like a 1 second penalty. You start right on the middle of the last chicane, so by the end of 1st straight you got P4 over 1sec ahead and P6 has kicked your ass... then again, you don't win the race on T1 (allegedly )

Can somebody explain me about the boost on the SuperFormula, please?

Its a button you have to map that let's you get a power boost. It does this by allowing the engine to have more fuel in the mix. Its called the overtake button since its to help with passes and make the racing more exciting. You get a set amount of overtake boost for the whole race with a meter in the bottom right. It isnt available in practice/qualifying.

Wish the Daily Races were cross regional. Global.

Makes no sense why not. Quality of connection is probably more important than location/distance. Canada has embarrassing slow internet. So playing with someone on the other side of Canada with slow internet would be worse than playing with someone from Europe, Asia, wherever with faster internet.
This would be great but there are too many issues that could come about; you can have a connection quality as high as you want, but having one server take on ALL of the user traffic will make that very much redundant. The game will also need a changed netcode to make it work, which may then create other bugs that have to be patched. Be aware also that Sport Mode is structured differently to lobbies, and I don't think PD want to put all the regions together.

Was about to catch 1st place and we both get 0.5 second penalties at the start of lap 2.👎

I notice the guy who says "Give me some room when I'm overtaking" is also the only one with a red SR .

I hope you guys know what they are - many Australians first learn to drive in Dodgem cars.

And then they get behind the wheel of a BMW or an Audi and drive exactly the same way ........

Race B: Not feeling my fastest today. As promised took a few different cars, mostly German, for qualifying. Wanted to measure them against the meta so took the f1 GTR for a sloppy sighting lap that clocked in at 4:02:339. Tried out a few different cars, with mixed results, but none netting a faster lap than that 4:02.

I'm simply struggling to get around clean in qualifying. Every time I manage to get flying, three or four seconds ahead, I will bin it or pick up some tiny penalty for crossing the line.

However, in the AMG GT3 I found I was having an easy time finding a fast line through the chicanes, and fast exits out of the really tight turns. The brakes are very good and made me feel more comfortable than I feel in the other cars around here. I am probably losing time through the x, y and z curves, I always seem to struggle here on pace.

Either way, i'd been time attacking all morning and this was the only of my lap times I improved. I opted to enter with the AMG GT after whacking a couple dabbing unicorns and Infowars stickers on there to play mind games with people in my slipstream.

4th on the grid, mostly B rank drivers. I'm a little worried, but I've picked this car to get around safe and that's my strategy. **** that rolling start though. Luckily I manage to stay in the tow of the French Mclaren in 3rd, who gets hit with a track limit penalty on the turn in to the Mulsanne. I take him while he's serving that, up into 3rd. I just decided to stick to the braking points that had got me around the track safe while I was trying the cars, no heroics, and the f1 was gaining on me again, when I grabbed myself a point 5 through the last of the left hand curves before the final chicanes. Really often overdoing it there, god knows where the line is. I don't fight him on the first straight, which I think or hope he appreciated, but it certainly overexcited him, handing me third on a platter. A second French F1 was gaining on me all the way home. I think he may have binned the chicane.

I actually tapped the first one's bumper when he lost the back end into the second chicane on the Mulsanne, but it was very gentle and lost me more time than it did him. I got SR up over the timing line a moment later. Good penalty system!

Blue S, and a fat chunk of DR. Up to C and 3/4 already. Really need to qualify better... advice?

I don't want to look at my DR ... decided to have a quick race; practice pre race qualifying - .6, .5, then .4. That'll do. Started on pole; race A; forget my qual. time but its under 59. Or is that under 58? NO would be under 59 I guess. Anyway, I led the first lap, got out to a second in front. Then the few wines I had during dinner had me loosing a touch of focus. I'd removed the cones too and it feels a bit difficult to recognise where the Apexs are. Just keep this car rolling along on the road to success, don't let it slow down. OK back to third due to running wide. No problem. I will now show those two in front. Then I a spin. Then another spin. 8th or 9th. Wish PD had a breathalizer, it might have saved me I reckon 1,500 DR?

Who is it that says "Stay Thirsty"?? 👎 I'd like to blame you. ;)

Only joking ... :banghead: :D

Very nice Chardonay though. Time for bed.

I had a little extra time last night and decided to run 2 Race C's. Ran about 7 or 8 laps qualy and managed a 1:26.0. Just a few tenths better would be good enough for pole or P2 in most races it seems, but I didn't have time for more laps.

First race started P3. Chain reaction of divebombs and complete punts into T1 lap1, went from 3rd to last just like that, AND was gifted a 5s penalty for my efforts. Worked my way up rather aggressively bc I was pissed and people were driving like maniacs. Pitted early on lap 6 and hit the wall on pit entry...another 5s penalty on top of losing around 5s hitting the wall and having to reverse. Autopolis pit entry sucks. Finished P7. If I didn't get those 2 penalties, I would have finished P3 right where I started, maybe even P2 if I didn't lose so much time entering the pits.

2nd race. Started P4, hugged the inside of T1 like my life depended on it and didn't get punted. The top 4 went through unscathed as carnage ensued behind us. The rest of the race was boring, never caught anyone and never got caught either. Finished P4 and gained a tiny bit of DR back from the previous puntfest.

I really love driving these cars, but the range of skill in Race C makes it difficult to have a nice race if you're not in the top 5. Climbing your way back up is brutal and frustrating. But at least I can count on the drivers fighting in front of me to punt each other and make room for me. I think I can take another .5s off my qualy, so if I race more this week I'm gonna have to do that first.

Also, WOW...you really can chuck that car through some of those turns in qualy with no tire wear. Different story in race.

EMEA race b is pretty much a McLaren spec series in the DR A/SR99 lobbies. Started 7th behind a Spaniard, his car didn't move off the line on the rolling start so my car and everyone else behind me came to a stop for a couple seconds while the top 5 drove off in the distance. GG pd.

Back on the track to get that clean race bonus in the Viper SRT. First race, got punted off twice in lap 1, penalties went the right way. Unfortnately when going side by side with another clean player he did drift over just a tiny bit too far, harmless contact, neither of us lost any speed, position or direction, but SR Down anyway and neutral SR for the race. It was an achievement anyway, side by side from the Porsche curves all the way to the final chicane with one tiny contact, fun race. Vette vs Viper.

Race B really seems to have cleaned up now that everyone has got to grips with it and understands that the different cars have different braking points.

My SR was at 97 and wanted to get it back to 99 for FIA tonight. Entered Race B, got a clean race bonus, SR is now 98 :boggled:

Agreed, all the f1s in my lobby were finding nice long empty zones for braking. Going in the gravel gets old pretty quick, I guess.

might try the Mustang, buddy of mine has gone sub 4 with it, he is B rank but typically better than me, I can usually only beat his times in road cars like last week's Honda. With him at 3:59 and change I should definitely be able to get down to at least 4 flat, but we'll see...

I’ve managed to clock a 3:58.439 in the Corvette, and I’m your typical mid-B DR racer.

I had a weird instance yesterday where some a-hole kept ramming me off of the course by dive bombing me out at Mulsanne and the Porsche Curves. I didn't even try to retaliate and this kook would get a 10 second penalty dumping himself to the back at each penalty checkpoint. Then he would comeback angrier at me as if I was doing something to him. I can't imagine how emotionally unstable of an idiot he must be to continually be the cause of his own demise while getting angrier and angrier after every occurance. Like someone stubbing their toe on their bed post and then proceeding to kick it hard and harder out of revenge until their toe broke off. Every time, he would bump me, destabilize my car causing me to nudge him, and then ram me into a wall or the gravel. All of this stupidity just for 12th place.

I had other good races at Sarthe. I know I'm slow through the corvette curves and would easily let people pass me there but the number of people who would sabotage their own lap time just to bump me through the dirt was hilariously moronic. I think 80% of my passes on that course are occurring just from people serving their penalties on me.

On the bright side, the penalty system seems to be working now that I understand it better. If I get rammed, just gently let the car coast off and back onto the track to dish out the penalty. I was honestly getting more joy from dishing out penalties than I expected.

I'm still at 45 SR, slowly going back up from the Monday damage. I did get 2 more cars 'cleared' yesterday
06vd.jpg

Not much of a contender, but very stable.

It didn't take long to get a clean bonus in the Porsche
36vd.jpg

Great for dodging traffic but lacks top speed. As long as you have the draft it will do very nicely. Lose the draft and you're quickly losing ground.

And just now cleared the Viper SRT
46vd.jpg

I've had much better results with the car but got punted off in lap 1 at Indianapolis, same guy as a race earlier. He got the penalty, I got clear road for lap 2, no drafting, no catching up in this one. Nice to drive, too slow and prone to over steer when having to dodge cars.

Next the BMW line up starting with the Z4. Dunno If I'll cave in and drive the McLaren clown version, save it for last if there's still time and nothing else left to drive. Plenty cars to go still. That last clean race was worth 4 points, 49 SR now, halfway!

Have you run practice laps in each car, or do you just jump in and race? For me, that would be a definite recipe for killing SR!

I’m finally starting to figure out T3 and brands Hatch, it’s been killing my laps. I was letting off the gas way to late and even using some brake at times when in reality I needed to be letting off earlier and using no brake at all lol. Still more to find there but I finally broke into the 58’s at least! :)

Congrats on the Great Laps @Oshawa-Joe @Groundfish @QC YALUM @MattJones_e36 and @Dairyworker !! This is one tough little car to drive.

I apologize if I missed anyone. :)

I dont always practice lol. Sometimes it takes a lap to get used to a car but its not like I've never driven them on other tracks so I know how they drive in general.

Also Ive never been able to drive the M6. Keep seeing it in this thread but even when I was on controller, I always spin out on corner exit. More than any other gr3.

I jump in each race. I've driven all these cars before and have 387 races completed on Sarthe. I know the track :)
First real braking zone at Dunlop I'll take conservatively and that refreshes me on how the brakes are on each car, then adjust accordingly for the rest of the track. First chicane already tells me enough about the understeer / oversteer.

That was easy.

I got punted before the start already though. The Brazilian in front of me messed up the first chicane and was fish tailing over the road. I slowed down not to hit him so the Brazilian behind me punted me into a reset. No penalties issued. That was a messy race, only the leader and me didn't have a red dot and only 3 blue ratings in that race. +4 SR again to 53.

The Z4 is definitely slower than the Dodge Viper

Feel like I'm not too bad through this corner (lap is a 1:01 something), been lifting around the start of the kerbstones (I think) but i am in something of a battle with myself about what gear to have on exit. In 2nd around t2, holding uber tight line gives me third down the hill but im in low revs for ages after t3 and 2nd gear is definitely there for the grabbing but not sure where to downshift as I ain't brakin' for nobody son

EDIT: now that I think about it Scandi flicks are super tempting there

Wow! Nice lap my friend....

I can't decide if i should drop to 2nd or not for t2. Gotta try no brake for 3...

I've been racing in the Aston so far and could only manage a 4:02.xxx... BUT, it's solid as a rock and i can lap in race around that time too. So even when i'm 8th on the grid and there's plenty of sub 4min lappers in front of me it just keeps in there and i feel safe - like a small child in a papoose.
I've since put a couple of qualy laps in the F1 (just because i had to know) and pretty much straight away dropped to a 4:00.xxx with BB full to the front. I was surprised it handled pretty well and there's definitely scope for improvement, but i doubt i'll be racing it because i'm a rebel. (without a cause).
