RNG came up with the Lexus '16 and it's a contender
Noxd.jpg

Best lap of 1:24.711

The first attempt did not go well. A laggy 2 bar Brazilian turned in on me at the apex which cost me a 5 sec penalty. His zipping car almost hit me twice already, then he was gone for 3 seconds and re-appeared right in front of me. It was either pass or quit :/
wgEm3LU.gif

His car was jumping back and forth, he might not have even seen me on the track. Lag still the nr.1 reason for incidents.

The Lexus drives nicely around this track. RNG came up with the Volkswagen VGT for the next candidate. Break time first.

I don't think suspending players is good either. Because ultimately it would damage PD. The more players the better.

I guess I was comparing to other games too much that have player cooldowns but forgot how much bigger those games are and have sizeable playerbases to fall back on to keep player retention healthy. Not sure GT Sport has that and I guess PD aren't willing to take the risk which is understandable.

Actually it seems that the more interesting track selection is working. Daily active players is going up a bit.

With 30K players a day on average, banning a million accounts is not an option

Ooh that actually drives pretty nice on Brand's hatch, 1:24.883 best lap (clear road)
cpxd.jpg

My fastest lap was in the race where I got part of the mess in Druids then got punted off in Graham hill. Some where in that I lost the clean race bonus but it gave me clear road to push the car. Second best so far, after the Lexus.

RNG came up with the AMG for the next race.
hpxd.jpg

The first attempt had a much better result, 6th with best lap of 1:24.858 I got tapped there by a Ferrari losing control in the druids after getting bumped by the car behind him. Somehow that gave me SR Down.

The race with the clean race bonus was not contact free either. The Brazilian behind me was playing a game of tag and made contact at least twice. I let him pass once only for him to get a shortcut penalty and get put behind me again lol, Then a careless track re-entry screwed us all up and I had to evade the dive from behind while avoiding the re-entry, cost 2 spots. It was a messy race start to finish.

Enough for today. 7 cars down, 50% clean race bonus today. Much better than Monza.

The Redbull at Suzuka is ridiculous. The car's rear end flies off and loses traction at full speed on fast, high radius, corners. Wtf?

If you're 100% on the throttle and miss your line by 1 pixel, the rear wants to go sideways. But if you lift to 95% throttle, nothing happens.

How is this car, with so much aero and down force (I suppose), behaving like this?

I managed a 1:58:8 but I'll probably reach low 58s. 57s is highly unlikely, especially because I'm not enjoying the car's behavior.

Tried Race C once and yeah, I'll pass on it for the rest of the week. RBJr is not fun to drive on Racing Hards and I think it's worse on controller where precise steering and throttle control are harder to manage. I was on edge the entire race just driving it.

Seriously though...

The other two races are fine though. I like the limited selection races they've been doing recently because it shows at least a little care is being put into it. Japan apparently has to be in the line up every week though, I see.

Hope they have a race of classics of some kind next week for Goodwood, preferably another limited selection rather than a one-make.

Well after some spring clean up (more like winter maintenance) tried 3 races. Calmly shut off system and walked away. Lots of brake checkers on T1 @ brands..all having the same shade of green in their flag.

Oh my, the Gr3 Porsche really comes life at Brands, Wow! She’s finally acting like the MR car that she is. This is a lot more fun then I was expecting. :)

Nah you need Godzilla here to get a 23.6. Optimal sub 23..The car has PLENTY left to take out that wimpy 911...
Aero plus turbo...lol. Gotta get in my licks when I can they don’t last long most weeks...First time in quite a while I brought my old friend from France out to stretch her legs...
;) Lol

Its all about the start at Autopolis. The Megane has a great launch. Turn off the TCS and let rip. Did 3 more races in last night.

Race 1. Start P6 get up to P2 before going through T1 and am seriously challenging for P1. Get a bit wide trying to be clean and drop back towards the pack. Get punted by a TT at the 1st hairpin on lap2. We get reset at the back and race our way back through together. Recover to P8. No great. But I know there's more.

Race 2. Start P5 again, good launch up to P2/3 but go cautious on the inside through T1 to be clean again. Uneventful from then on. Finish P4.
IMG_20190527_212128.jpg

And then we went for race 3. Start P4. Up to first by T1 but get undercut by the eventual winner in a VDub who ghosts through P3 TT in the process... TT pushes up the inside at hairpin 2 to ruin what would have been another clean race. But we are both clean from then on and I make the most of it as he repeatedly under steers into the sand.

Get a good launch and get up the road out of the way! You can go far!

RCZ had better race pace, for me, than putting together a qualy lap.

Scirocco just sliced through the corners

Megane is a brute. I use 2nd gear starts, no TCS. It's like a GT-R off the line.

TT gets no love from me. Shame. I'd really like to use it, but it's like a sheepeople car. Hopefully, PD give us the S3 TCR at some point.

Can not get on with the Red Bull.

Never got on with Suzuka.

I suppose it's time to learn Autopolis, then. I'll switch between this, and Brands, through the week.

Sorry Mods, wrong topic.

I mentioned last night that the car has been setup for both the experts to have fun with, and to be just about drivable (with practice) for the average driver. The rear end has been deliberately setup to have less grip than the front, but on the plus side, the less grip actually gives you more warning though.

Quite a few experts are sitting this one out I see which is understandable since jumping from an unwieldy beginner's car one moment to something edgy is difficult and takes time.

PD can't keep compromising cars for everyone and lowering the bar continually forcing everyone to drive easy cars, but instead they should focus on raising the bar and getting those drivers who want to get inspired to try and become like those that can do it.

Very nice!! That’s a great accomplishment man!

My low point so far is 7.6, but I ended last season at 8.8. If I could just putt I’d probably be near scratch lol, according to The Grint(golf stats app) I drive like a 5, have the iron play and short game of a 3, and I putt like a 17, to arrive at an average score of 82.2. I shot a 90 at one point last season with 45 putts and 12 Gir.

I did have one magical day last year where my putter got hot though, I fired off my one and only sub 70 round of 68 with 5 birdies. Now if only I could figure out how to repeat it!! :D

These are from yesterday’s session. :)

haha... i'm your UK version! A lefty that can't putt! I played last week and shot an 86 ... with at least 10 holes 3 putted. I'm off a fighting 10 h'cap and have reached 7 at my peak about 15 years ago. Just need to try and play more than once every 2 months to get my rhythm back

Nice!! Have you tried a putting mirror? I have an Eyeline mirror it’s called, it definitely helps. But I’ll never be a great putter, nothing worse than a 3 putt par. :)

I really love how the JR handles, first time I felt the need to learn that sukuzaki track.
JR has lots of grip and is really easy to drive, if you just keep the steering smooth as silk.
Hope to get my q time under 2 min mark, might even do some races
So thanks PD for the good tune on this one

I thought the grid glitch was back. Turns out that P2 lagged out at the start. I see P1 move normally. P2 stayed still. Everyone behind P2 stopped and moved at a crawl. P3 and P4 passed and went the normal rolling start speed. By the the time P5 passed, the race started and everyone else was bunched up and got insane speed. Unfortunately I got punted out of T1 because someone never braked.

Again, people with bad connections shouldn’t play online games

That is not fair how about anyone who can't drive to a good standard shouldn't and maybe then include anyone who use's a anything other than a wheel!! Don't discriminate, it's a game and some people have not got the access to good internet are they supposed to just give up on something they enjoy!

Hmmm... I can do it (top30 in EMEA atm). It's just dumb and unrealistic how the car handles, that's it.

Those 2 huge spoilers on the rear would make the car stick to the track at mid/high speed in racing tires (even hards). The car doesn't have enough power to slide so much either.

My RBJ experience has been kind of weird. I did a Nations race for it last week (what a mistake that was since I 🤬 big time and finished 18th from 2nd place.) It never felt like I was in total control around the first turn (Blue Moon Bay, for reference) unlike my practice laps which were fine.

I managed to throw myself into the wall 5 times so ended up with 1.5 seconds x 5 in penalties. I think part of this might be down to dirty air (like I said, I didn't have any issue at all during practice) which can cause more oversteer. I wasn't expecting it to have the impact it did and this was using soft tyres.

I tried the daily race at Suzuka and somehow felt a bit more in control. Maybe it was the BB adjustment I made or being more prepared in knowing what to expect with its handling. It's twitchy in areas, especially around Dunlop Curve but I did remain more planted to the track. This is one of those races which has me in a semi-trance state since it's a case of remaining consistent and trying to not make any mistakes.

Although for me personally, it's a little dull since there's no strategy involved. It's a straight flat out no-stop to the finish line. I feel like this could have been a Race B instead. I'll race some more times but it's not really one of those I can see myself doing daily like Monza was last week.

So thanks PD for the good tune on this one

Whoops. missed this. I guess that explains why. I assume the setup was different at the Nations race.

Depending on how seriously you want to take a given event -

Spin up a Custom Race with the necessary settings/BOP against the AI and give it a couple of laps practicing driving in bad air.

Also quite useful for working out Fuel saving and Tyre degradation in advance.

I don't do it a lot, because there's no direct comparison between the consistent-on-rails nature of the AI and the variable Mr A.N. Other, but sometimes it can be useful as an idea of the 'expected' environment...

I know it’s harsh. It ruins the experience for me dealing with crap like that. I know everyone can’t afford or get better net. My hotheadedness gets the best of me at times.

One issue with connection problems is that you most of the time we have no idea what the experience is on the other side of the screen and unless you have access to and are monitoring a constant ping to everyone's IP you actually don't know who is at fault. We can make assumptions, which will likely accurate. But you won't be right 100% of the time. And as we all know, the signal bars are completely unreliable most of the time too.

Another problem is communication and education in a game sense. As I've pointed out before, the game doesn't necessarily encourage community. (External sites like this are the minority). So the chances are high, that those sitting there with a 'dodgy' connection don't know how they are affecting everyone else in the race, and because they don't know, they likely don't care. So carry on 'racing' regardless of whatever environment they are experiencing.

Of course, there will be the exceptions who know it's them and really don't care. And they are a problem. But I think PD could go a long way to improving the experience across the board and making it less of a problem in general.

More practice at Brands last night. Couldn't quite match my best, but optimal was down to 1:23.258.

I now have an issue with my Broadband, so won't be online until Friday. Still, gives me a few days to learn Autopolis.

Maybe I'll create a few more decals that push the limits of what's allowed . .

I got the optimal down to 22.8 in the 911, she’s gots the potential. I just haven’t strung it together yet. Maybe tonight. :)

I loved the Porsche but I tried it for race B and couldn't get under 1:25. I don't know where I have lost the pace from it, but maybe I am impatient.

I've go the Audi down a little bit to 1:22.9; there is more there, I have learn't a bit in the races. The problem is I have been crashing ... its strange - I ran two 7 lap sessions, without interruption, didn't miss a corner, average speed of 1:22.8 which included a lap with 3 best sectors that I blew on the entry to the main straight, it ended up a 1.24.8, so the average was better; same for the other run too. So I got to the races and am loosing it where I never have before. One race with mostly A+s and S drivers but 3 B drivers as well. I was 5th on the last lap, and lost it after corner 4, in the middle of the short straight, I do drive over a white piece of curbing there after leaving curving long apex on the right of the corner, bang, the car yawed right slowly and I then could not get the car out of the off track stuff. I came 15th, last, and lost 1,500 DR! I would have won over a 1,000!! That's a 2,500 demotion ...:dunce:

There are guys running 1:22.4's in the damn race too. They seem to use hand controllers as while my car is very smooth, theres' are twitching all over the place.

I watch a replay of a race too - and the top two drivers were great. On the third lap, the leader came around corner 7 - and off he went. Behind - the 2nd guy did just the same. That wasn't them IMO - but was the damn game. The second guy was maybe 0.8 seconds behind too - they didn't make mistakes IMO.

I think the net is a factor for me too ... in traffic, the car feels quite different. Clear of traffic it's fine. That's our poor net connection.
