Old habits reappear. Fighting the fear of fear. Growing conspiracy. Everyone's after me. Frayed ends of sanity. Hear them calling.... hear them calling meeeeeeeee! Yeh.. theme song for tonight's racing chaos, proudly brought to you by Good Wood. I was struggling to get around the circuit... I swear it's a go-cart track . I had many failed qualifying laps with maybe 3 where I stayed on the track .. non-consecutive :nervous:. I went in with the 4C... but C4 is probably more accurate . Doesn't handle anywhere near as stability as it used to. I knew i had another second in me, but just ran out of time. Wouldn't have made any difference.. still would have started P11/18 on a mixed grid, but about half were DR/D.

Race starts and it's pandemonium :odd:. I passed sa couple of people at the start because I had light brakes on until the green then full throttle and off I went. For the first lap cars were flying everywhere, and I did several impressions of Crash McRae. Slowly I started to get a bit of a feel for the track, but I was playing it very conservatively, not very good for fuel economy . Looking at the replay, many of my excursions off track were with "help". I had a Lexus that kept weaving every time I tried to pass him. By the second lap I had been knocked off and then spun, by which stage I had dropped to P16.

One thing I did notice was that a) the 4C is a pretty little thing and had me wishing there was a Gr4 Elise, and b) looking at other people's offs and re-entries, my little 4C was a better rally cross car than most of the others in the race ;). By lap 5 I seemed to have a handle on staying on the track at least. Lap 6 was faster than my qualifying lap . I pitted lap 10 in P8.

Splash and go for the stop, no boots. Re-joined in P11. Those last 5 laps I discovered that some of the corners I could drop 1 gear instead of 2, and lap 13 was my fastest lap, worn tyres and all . I had 3 laps faster than my qualifying, and I managed to finish P10. Could have been worse! I suspect tomorrow will be harder because everyone will have a better handle on the track and there won't be so many offs.

SR blue, DR went up 60. No penalties despite all the off road excursions and hitting a wall. Another day above DR 1 :dopey:.

Somehow managed to go from a 16.8 to 15.6 in quali, but can't keep that in the race unfortunately... DR and SR both up from C's to B and A, Goodwood hard to overtake in the turns, rather get a better drive to pass on the straights and I think you only need to put for fuel, tyres still seem fine by race end

Add some humar, why not this version

So Race C is a new track to most people? And it's a grid start? Sounds like starting from the back is the best strategy for a Monday 👍

Admittedly attempt 1 didn't go brilliantly. I learned you need to back out of anything that looks even a bit dodgy as off track excursions cost A LOT of time. This was attempt 2, starting from 20th. It's only the first 2 laps but lap 2 is worth watching as it was arguably even more chaotic than lap 1...

Finished 6th when I was in 5th for most of the second half. Should have finished 4th but I made a mistake on the last lap. Using the 458. Pitting for fuel only.

Bloody Minis at Suzuka East . . . . . . . . . . . . AGAIN!!!!

Seriously PD, how many times can you keep on repeating this boring combo?!
It's like they have completely forgotten they have hundreds of cars to choose from, 99.9% of which are better than the damn Mini - AGAIN!!!!!

Off to smoke a packet of ciggies to calm myself down!

They were doing so well with the variety :( I understand the Japan holiday thing but seriously, it cannot be that hard to come up with new ideas for races, even with more specific restrictions, within a whole 7 days.

Maybe they repeat combos so people who barely play can try the race? idk. If that's the case, then they're prioritizing those players over the more dedicated ones who are keeping their numbers up, which they should not be doing. I doubt the people who barely play would care/know the difference anyway.

Sport Mode is such a big part of the game so you'd expect them to put more effort into keeping people intetested.

Gosh. Goodwood is quickly becoming one of my favorite tracks in GT Sport.

And I can actually set a good time with the Viper Gr. 4!!!

Nice work with the Viper. I will have to give it a try. So many cars I want to like. I will have to give an honest effort with the Audi TT because of my livery I made for our Saturday night races:

Whatever happened to the challenge of finding the perfect car and strategy without any external input?
while i agree with you to some degree and usually race against the meta, some of us only have time for a few races a week and I'd rather not waste the first one. better to hit the ground running and tweak things from there.

I'd rather not fuel save for 8 laps giving up pace just to realize a no-stop is impossible anyways if i can help it.

I know about that Problem, but I usually avoid the META. Imho „racing“ is not just „controlling a vehicle“.

And I don‘t care about my DR since it‘s just a kind of score to match me with equally competetive players.

Well everybody‘s got different approaches to this game :)

Is there a meta yet for Daily C? I plan to learn the circuit this week. Is it a no-stop? Is there enough fuel? Tires? What's the car of choice?
Took a look at the times. Hard to say, really. It looks like the TT performs well here, along with the Huracan.
OR you can use the best car in the world by using the Viper. :D You really need to push it to get close to or even break into the 1:14 mark. Lester and I were barely able to get 1:14.

Here's a sign that I spend too much time on this site: I'm at work, sending a message to a bank on my computer, and at the end I was looking for the thumbs up icon. 👍 Sometimes I also look for an edit button, to change something in my message. :dunce:

I'm not struggling but my mistakes are more apt to take other drivers out now. Conversely I am seeing more mistakes on the course from other drivers and I'm cautious about them taking me out.
A double edged sword then. I’ve never used it myself. I was expecting to see some accidents because of it.

It’s now time to take the training wheels off! :P

I hear ya man! When I got rear ended last year my first reaction was to look up for the Orange SR Down arrow.

Seriously, go with the car you're comfortable with. Again, I haven't tried the M4, 86, Mustang, Scirocco, Megane, RC F, Evo, WRX, Jag or Aston. Those are cars I know.
I'm just in my Atenza "Super Tourer" phase. I'm quick enough to race it but, other cars are quicker and more frugal, in capable hands.

Definitely. Just dial in your Scandinavian Flick recovery skills since that tends to be where the car's weight goes twitchy and hairwire without it. On Tskuba I lost a Lancer on the last hairpin losing control of the car's weight and ended up having to recover with an ugly counterclockwise 360 spin to keep it on the track. Thankfully nobody was directly behind me or I would have jammed up the entire track.

I’m going through a few cars putting Q laps in on dragon trail if anyone wants to see

That's pretty cool. Never seen a live feed posted here before. I tuned in just in time to see you do your 1:39 lap. It looked really fast to me. 👍

Thanks mate, now trying the viper although I already know I won’t beat that time in it, too much lift through the esses and the bus stop.

Edit: wow what a boat the viper is. Cars feel different, has there been a tyre model change? Less spin, more understeer on corner exit

I got pretty lousy results from the Viper at Brands. It's a shame, because before BoP is applied it's one of the fastest. PD should consider shaving some weight or adding some power for BoP, because it's not very competitive.

Well there we go... Bumped up the ranks of DR-B and SR-S and I had a German in a huracan punting and brake checking everyone(me included) but justice was served as he tried to ram me for a 4th time , saw him coming so swerved offline and braked, saw him go flying across the grass into Narnia, luckily my DR and SR still increased

The Viper, especially the Gr. 3, desperately needs some buffs. It has been nerfed to hell, just like how Jeff Kaplan nerfed D. Va and Mercy to the ground :nervous::nervous::nervous:

I used to love it, was deceptively NIMBLE. Now it doesn’t want to turn whatsoever, even poor at DT which by all accounts is a power circuit
