From 3 cars back?

I’d say he doesn’t know how to/ or didn’t take that corner as well as you did there and ended up getting into your line, it’s hard to tell from only one view, but it doesn’t strike me as on purpose right off the bat. He had a penalty anyways, so even if he passed he was still going to lose.

I really thought about letting off the gas just enough so he got across the line first by a nose and then let the time penalty make it's mark. But that would be mean. ;)

I think you’ll like it once you get the hang of it, it’s got a nice flow.

This is the 2:01.4, the whole last sector was crap though, there’s much more time there. :)

And this happened again! Twice now tonight.

Oh I got the hang of it before, it's actually the track with my highest win percentage, 15 out of 34 races. I'm just not that fond of wide tracks and dive bomb corners  But perhaps with GR.2 the field spreads out quickly and it won't be that much carnage as usual. It's a shame Bathurst is only 3 laps, by the time I clear the backfield the race is done.

Decisions, favorite track, but need to qualify to get some actual racing for a measly 7 minutes or Alsace airport landing strip. I've spend far more time making liveries today than actually racing, I guess that's telling enough that 3 GR.4 laps around the mountain isn't holding my interest. Good thing there are a lot less GR.4 cars than GR.3, 27 vs 35.

Every time I qual for Bathurst it’s the same...
I either have it or I don’t. Even having not sure I can go better than just breaking 14...Awesome awesome flow on that track and variety. It’s just so hard to connect the dots every turn.
Turns out the AMG is fastest for me so far, ran one nice clean mid 13 and didn’t save replay, so I spent another 15-20 tries and got another to share.
Next up Rexus!

From the sounds of it I might have to go and buy one of those front drive Megane things. Why is the sport version so much slower than the pedestrian Megane at Bathurst?

I don't get it with FWD - who races with FWD for goodness sakes ...

But I should try and learn the Lexus, as it was super fast at Brands while still saving the tyres and fuel, and Brands is the type of track I adore. I couldn't drive the Lexus RC there though, so I guess I will firstly learn to use it through the curves at Bathurst which should be a big learning curve for me. Bathurst is said to resemble the Nordschliefe. But the turns at the top of Bathurst ie "the mountain" are in fact much tighter and hence Bathurst's twisty bits feel a lot slower than they are at the Nordschiefe. It seems to me the Lexus could be a good Nord. car.

So I'm practicing on Bathurst on a Gr. 4 car, first time I've ever put qualifying times on this track for crazy people. After 15-20 laps, I managed something like a 2:16:400. Looking at my opt. time, I knew I could cut another 5 tenths or something. So before going to bed, I decided to practice once again and get my daily marathon, why not.

On the 5th lap of the session, I cross the line. 2:14:832.

I was screaming internally, I paused the game right away. Holy crap.

Next goal: consistent lap times. So excited.

It's too short, I have time to work on a livery in between races. I'm going for all cars clean race bonus again this week and recording my best lap in each. That's not going to tell much though with 3 laps. The chance of a clear lap is pretty slim in such a short race. So far I've always been stuck behind another car on the mountain.

Racing is pretty good so far on the mountain. People are still careful, a bit

The Megane gr4 feels like a crutch in a race. As long as you're within the slipstream or/and there is a straight coming up, it feels rather forgiving and you can drive conservatively; whilst the car infront (not a Megane) has to somehow break the slip, do a perfect mountain section including the exit onto conrod. If the Megane catches a whiff of your backside on conrod - you're smoked!

Very stressful car to race against!

I drove the Lexus and I can see a mid 1.13 after just a few laps. It seems understeer an awful lot though. I am using the middle brake setting. My steering wheel is really heavy though - I guess that's good for an old guy like me. Also my brake light is coming on again - this happened after I had to recalibrate the wheel with the brakes attached. It likely hurt me at Brands but I was still quick there although the light distracted me at times, as did reaching down to pull the brake pedal back so the light went off. Yep I have tried teflon spray but maybe I need to take it apart and put in new foam pads (the upgrade brake thingy for the Fanatec Clubsport V3 brakes). One is supposed to be able to modify the wheel's settings from the wheel, but since my Porsche RSR wheel is not supported on the PS4, I think that task isn't possible. What a waste of money that wheel was on this game.

The Lexus feels like a 1960's muscle car to me including the engine, the understeer, the tail kicking out if traction is missing at the back, and the heavy steering wheel. I suspect its the best GR.4 car out there as it can handle all tracks I reckon.

I love you Dan Ricciardo but I am not going to buy one of those FWD Meganes, even in spite of your 35 million dollars a year deal. I am sure I saw a sparkling tooth from Dan at the Canadian GP after qualifying - just the same as the Great Race's star, the Great Lesley, who also had a sparkling tooth from his toothy grin.

Why does PD hurt Ferrari so much? Why not have a Ferrari the dominant car at some race track or race? We'd all like to drive a Ferrari and be winners. And not be creamed by some low class fast jerk in a cheap suit driving by us with an overflowing ash tray with his never cleaned dirty plastic interior, in his cheap used Megane.

I love the Ferrari, but the dipper has never been kind to me with MR cars. Starting on pole in the Alfa Megane. Nothing is guaranteed in Sport Mode. Need to grab an F-Type and Vantage for the next races.

Edit: Hmmm... check back with me later on that.

@Pigems, what to do this week? Watch the US Open, or race cars? Maybe set up 2 TVs. I only have 1 TV, and the tournament is at Pebble Beach, which is incredibly picturesque, so I gotta watch. Plus the US open is my favorite tournament, because they set the courses up to be so difficult, that sometimes the winner isn't even under par.

Don't forget it's Le Mans this weekend too.

I am not quick this week at all. I really dislike Gr.2 well... I dislike the GT-R which is the only one I have, snap oversteer all the time... So Alsace just wont be competitive.

Bathurst... Well... I might just have to race and see what happens. I can't knit a hot lap together. I'll mess up The Cutting, or if I get that right I'll get the wrong entry line into The Esses, or if I get both of them right then I'll undoubtedly do something silly at The Chase.

Fuji is no fun.

So all in all, not a great week for me I don't think.

I was at my surgeon to remove my suture and he decided to extend my sick certificate until Friday. Now I‘m stuck with a ban of most physical activities („You must not move your head too much!“) and a set of daily races I dislike. Bummer! Also no ideas for any liveries to create. I guess I‘ll take the 962 and get some practice for Saturday.

I desperately tried various cars on Bathurst but 2:17.4 is the best I can get; overall 2:18, 2:19 are my average times. I‘m quick until Skyline but lose lots of time through the dipper until forest elbow, every car I tried just won‘t move or fishtail.

Well, it starts. Race ruined because the other driver can't race side by side. I raced a Mustang side by side, from the cutting to Sulman Park. A Mustang behind hits it and somehow, I get 1.5 seconds. So, at the PZ on Mountain Straight, it passes me. I catch it at Skyline(from 3 seconds back mind you- TCS off on that car for sure, as the player struggles with oversteer). It messes up The Elbow. I got the run side by side. We get to The Chase. It's on my left rear quarter. We both brake. I give it room. BAM! I get hit and go off. It gets 5 seconds. 2nd to 6th for me, as the Mustang that got knocked off, passes at the line for 5th.

Just bought a Scirocco, Vantage and F-Type.

Haven't driven in Alsace in Sport mode for so long.
Still remember my 1st FIA race with the Gr.3 Alfa at end of 2017/beginning of 2018 and honestly enjoyed it ha.

I wished to race in C but cannot until i finish my summer work.
Although i am not super fan of the modern Super GT and wished they could make the older versions only selectable for once. (I mean unless you're driving in SSX route, the older models are just bad lol)

Perhaps I should give Alsace a go. Bathurst is an SR killer, -19 SR in one race with just a couple back field cars tapping me then a wall, then +5 for a clean race. Little too gain, easily gone. 85 SR, so now in the even clumsier room. It's fascinating to see where people think of to brake next. There must be over 50 corners on Mount Panorama :)

Please dont mention other peoples insane braking points. I had my inside line covered and yet they flashed constantly to get past, i moved then they walled themselfs and everyone else, 4wd lancer just cruised away without any problems. Thing is, these are high ranked dr a and ss drivers, they drive like they are a robot. Inside line covered, they should know they are not getting past . . . . . Top rank they way they block you in etc is why i refuse to leave dr b lol you do it back to them and they spin you off and drive away with no penalty :s example of this unusual behavioir is at the end of a race i got fourth, then final results said i was third place. The driver in first place appeared on the list at the rear of the pack, happened twice since the last update then where it displays dr it shows up as blank (...) and sr e LOL what is causing that? People acting like this ruin online gaming for everyone or is it a server error but either way its making dr increase.

When people don't slow down to let someone correct their car, they make things worse. Megane knocks me around. Then, still truies t pass. HIts me again and gets a penalty. I do an avoidance crash as this RCZ brakes mad early (that CRash player, again). The same Megane is behind me. from The Elbow, trying to out muscle a Mustang in my tow. I grab a bit of grass on exit and this damn Megane hits me and I get a 4 second penalty.
One more race and it's 86/BR-Z time.

Please excuse me, but it sounds like your technique can likely be expanded?

1 - Remember that your car is often turning in those areas.

2 - If you lift the throttle with the steering turned, the rear of your car will move out.

3 - Firstly try lifting the throttle and feel the rear move outwards away from the apex that you are steering towards, swinging your car towards that apex.

4 - Applying throttle will stop that tail swinging out. In that first area you may not need much throttle, just modulate the steering and the brakes until leaving corner 13, that sharp corner on the left where to cut close to it now turning to the right. Throttle on there.

Summary: after backing off the throttle and moving the tail out, then apply the throttle to steady the car, accelerating now and then to go through the corner.

It's all part of learning the big bag of techniques. This technique should result in less use of your brakes as well. Good luck.

The Vantage is fun indeed. I got the clean race bonus in that tonight and it's head and shoulders above the other 5 I tested, 1.2 sec faster lap than the Ferrari which was my previous fastest. The Vantage can zoom by cars on the way to the chase like they are driving in FM3. Just remember to brake before the 150 marker in that one :) It takes a while to stop that monster.
