@Pigems I had to go back and redo it. I made the drops bigger, so I didn't have to do so many of them. It still turned out ok, I think. I'm learning more with each one I do.

NSX. Fuel map 2. Shift at 50% of the bar. No stop.
I actually ended up racing with an NSX really closely for the second half of a race (I was in the GT-R, I pitted). Almost made it round the outside of him at the hairpin at the bottom of the hill on the last lap, but he got enough of a cutback to keep the place into the chicane.

In the same race I was behind another NSX coming on to the pit straight. There was a bunch of cars around me as I was on the inside at the kink. I tried to go to the left of an NSX but he was going too slowly and cut me off so I swerved right and hit a guy with 420 in his username driving a Lexus. In the chat after he was quite angry and said I ruined his race by bumping him into the pits. He lost one place and was still right behind me into the first corner. Strange chap.

Man, I had a good race going that time, I was up to 5th or 6th I think when things started to go downhill.

This was the highlight of the race. :)

Then things took a turn for the worst. That’s two races in row now that this guy has done this, obviously not on purpose, it’s just funny that it was him both times. He respawned and then unghosted right in the middle of the chicane last race. :lol.

Then I just plain shot myself in the foot, I lost my concentration after getting the penalty and knowing it was already over.

oh hi, that was me that started in the back with you in the Lexus, ash_o_333. Fun race! I somehow managed to finish 4th. Going again now.

I knew that name was familiar! I just couldn’t remember who it was. Well done man, I’m in on the next one too, going Live this time. Good Luck on the next one.

The racing is really good tonight in race C, I've had 2 cool races in a row now, I even saw a group of cars try to take the chicane 3 wide (they all died). I'll upload both of the replays.
Now I know why the Shadow Realm wasn't after Super GT and TRL_Lightning today: It was busy collecting souls over at Seaside, left and right.

Yeah I'm still enjoying race C a lot. Had some great races this evening. This one was really close throughout, some bumping in the first couple laps nothing major. Ended with a dirty brake check though unfortunately. Still a fun race, and ironically because of the hit to my SR due to the brake check I had a fantastic next race.

Thanks. I have fun with it. I'd be happy to make an original one for you, if you ever wanted that. Just give me a theme and a car.

Finally! :D

Great Race @Winnie847 !! It looked like you and that other guy were in a pretty good battle there in the last couple of laps. Well done man. I had saved enough fuel to go FM1 after the chicane on the final lap but it wasn’t enough to catch you guys before the end. That was a fun race.

Well it turned out great man, definitely very well done! That would be super cool, thanks very much man. Is Sprite a Pepsi or Come product? If you ever get bored, a Come/Pepsi Gr4 Audi TT would be pretty cool. :D

Great race @Pigems. There was no way I could keep up with you in the Cayman. I'm running in FM1 though, managing fuel with short shifting only. (which leaves zero acceleration, so boring) Is it better to change fuel map as well? I always thought short shifting was better than fuel mapping.

Ugh, I just want to race! This weekly puzzle of fuel management is getting on my nerves. By lap 8 I started to lose interest in the whole thing lol. Back to No man's sky! My daily race done.

Is there a schematic somewhere, FM states, shift points for each car, bleh.

Woo that was a fun one! And it came down to the very end, burning on fumes battling for podium. Top lobby this time, Race C. Amazing race with 14 positions gained featuring @Pigems who took a top 5 himself, and lots of other familiar names. One stupid mistake in T1 when I was hoping for a ghost, but other than that it was a great race for me. Easy on the tires, easy on the fuel. Enjoy.

Both. That strategy got me a solid 16th place finish. It was fun, though.

I tried that the first couple races in the Lambo, it didn’t work well there either. It was definitely a fun race though.
Are you still racing?

I thought you kept up quite well in the Porsche, i haven’t driven it much but the few times I have it felt a little slow. I’m running at FM2 the entire time, shifting around half bar. I’ve been trying to shift a little earlier over the first few laps when the traffic i heavier and there’s more draft in order to save extra fuel for the end of the race. Then around lap 8/9 I can start letting it rev out a little more in certain places, then I switch to FM1 from the death chicane onwards on the final lap and rev it right out. It hasn’t panned out for a late minute pass yet but I’ve come close. :)

That was a really fun race, I just couldn’t seem to gain on you, it was a ton of fun chasing though. Great Race man! You still racing now?

I want to join you all, but I am at the gym. :(

You’re missing out on all the fun, being healthy is over rated, get out here. ;)

I can’t believe I made it through this one, he tapped my rear and then hit the wall, did he think we could go 2 wide through there? I’m just glad he ghosted so he didn’t take out @Sven Jurgens behind us. :)

I wish it was that easy lol, I'm trying to lose weight, my friend.

If you watch the replay from Sven's POV carefully, you can see the moment his sphincter twitches

I've been hauling myself out of the lower lobbies all night. Races A and B are write offs around dodgy players. Not enough SR to be gained and it only takes 1 buffoon to undo an hour's work. Lots of SR available in race C though. Going flat out with the Jag lent itself to crashes, there's not a lot of racecraft to be found at DR B SR B where I started, dive bombing, take outs, leaving no space etc... I figured no stopping the NSX would at least allow me to back out of battles strategically, getting the draft, but that just placed me down the order into mid pack, with more carnage. Mid pack in lower lobbies is a terrible place to be. After a lot of frustration I finished the night with the NSX, map 1 flat out until the esses on lap 1 to stay ahead of the trouble, then map 2 short shifting at half bar with lift and coast at the 3 big braking points. Lifting off earlier if a Huracan anywhere nearby. They go for the apex whether I'm there or not. 18:30 or so total time with no major incidents, compared to 18:45 when I began the night. Finished with SR S and 1000 points off DR A. I learned a lot in this race, will be sad to see it go. The SR system definitely could use more optimization.

Racing again for a bit tonight after dinner and a few drinks with a friend. Hunting for that elusive no qualy-victory. I think I have a shot in race A. I promise I’m under the legal limit!

Edit: first attempt was looking good for a podium until I got a penalty for getting tapped by somebody who was crashing on their own the moment before they ghosted. After that I had a great time trying to pass these two guys for the second time in the race. Short clip.

Edit #2: there are some straight up savages in the Race A backfield tonight. Moving to B and/or C.

Same in this side of the Atlantic on the race B. Got some awesome, clean and tough fights throughout the evening. The last one was so intense that I was compeled to save it and upload to YouTube.

(the only bad race that I had was mostly my fault: went waaay too optmistic in the first hairpin, missed the braking due to draft and ruined some guys (yes, plural) race, Dropped to the back where things got even crazier - but this time it wasn't by my fault. Anyway, I felt really bad for crashing clumsily into others. Plus, I was on a clean sheet for days, not dropping from S/99 :dunce::dunce::dunce:).

I'm done.

Two races. Two.

The rammers are out in force at DT. Maggiore is too short to be fun. So, I'm just doing hot laps, and hoping next weeks race C isn't halfwit central.

I feel you! Been rammed so many times at Maggiore when in good positions and tried race c cause I like the track and rammed on here also. I get when people are quicker but wait for a clean pass FFS. Have lost 4,000 points this week after hoping to be up to around 28,000 I’m down to 18,000 meh... Tough going to earn good points but a couple of bad races and you lose 800-1,000 cause of idiots! Hopefully next weeks races are better!

All I can say is WOW! What a difference committing to M/T makes!

After taking in all the advice spewed throughout this thread, I finally decided to get off my 🤬 and really dig in to improving my race craft a little bit. Took the advice of my extended :gtpflag: family and started attending @Tidgney 's driving school, and a preview "quick read" of "the book" @Pigems recommended . And I must say..... things have gotten interesting :odd:.

1st improved my time at DTS and went sub 1:47 :dopey:. (Was struggling before at 1:48.2 I think)
20190824_031215.jpg

Then went faster at Magiorre GP. :D

I've been driving A/T since release date, and managed to do pretty good, but tonight was just a whole different experience. I was able to actually control the car a lot better with M/T.

With that being said.....thank you all for the info, tips and videos. (it's gonna get a little more competitive now :mischievous:).

Gotta go git gud 1st. See you guys on the track!

Edited to recognize @Invisigoth for the "git gud" quote. I can't stop laughing everytime he tells someone to "git gud!"
