What is the DR penalty difference between leaving a race and finishing dead last?

Had the worst race of my life tonight on Suzuka with the Megane. Spun out at least five times and ended up in 15th (one person left) with a 34s gap to 14th and a 1:31s gap to the leader. It was excruciating, but I stayed in the race to avoid the leaver penalty. Wondering if it would’ve been better to just bail.

If you quit you lose DR to the 14 that finished. If you finish 15th, you gain DR from the quitter, but still lose DR to the 14 that finished. That's the only diference. Quitting costs 5 SR as well which can lower your SR a bit in a race B, those usually aren't worth much SR.

If nobody quits than there is zero difference between quitting or finishing last when it comes to DR.

I've hardly raced this week, I've not even tried race C yet. A not my kind of car nor a fun track, B Suzuka again. I did a Suzuka race yesterday, it sucked but didn't finish last as two quit and another two rammed each other off in the last lap. Better than on Tokyo where I consistently get the slowest best lap  Next week will probably have RBR with wet conditions. I hope PD has fixed the track limits as well as otherwise no amount of rain is going to make it fun to race there.

About 100 laps in on the new controller setup, beginning to feel natural. If I get enough laps in today and tomorrow I may feel confident enough to inflict my new set
Oow, first time i want to share. Anybody? How do you share a replay when you're in the: My Bib: Replays?

...Or, in general, how to share a replay?
In general, press share when you get the option to save it.
Otherwise connect your ps-account to YouTube, then when viewing the replay press the share-button on the ds4. Then it's just a matter of waiting for the upload.

Ok, thanx mate. Maybe i can't do the youtube thing. I'm a complete dummie with these kind of things. Anyway, i had some superbe races and i'll try to share. Grtz mate

Apparently I still suck at Interlagos. Must have done 100 laps over the past couple days. Still can't get under 1:32.1. Mehh. I suppose we all have bogey tracks.

On the other hand, 2:09.108 at Suzuka would put me nicely inside the EMEA top 500, and I'm 99.99% sure I can hit a 2:08, if I can nail Spoon, and the exit from Casio.

May have to log into my Euro account after work, tomorrow.

32.1 Is a nice time, dude !!!

I was behjnd that Scirocco again. So straightaway did another qualy.

If you can make it rotate, the Aston is a Porsche eater on the straights.

I did my best with the Aston, a .32.5. It was an edgy lap, i felt i had some .2 left. My other time, with the '16 Lexus was only 2 thents slower. My best feeling was with the Lexus. The Aston was something i've husseled all the way trough. The Lexus felt better in the tight 3th sector.

Disclaimer. Rant incoming to people who drive with AT and TCS. If you’re one of these drivers and you’re good with these settings, I’m not talking about you.

This morning racing was horrible. My second race specifically. I don’t know what it is. It seems like almost every time I get screwed by someone who is driving a AT with TCS. Its been a trend lately. They try to divebomb the hell oit of people. Now if it works clean, fine. I respect that.

In the start of lap 2 at Interlagos, I was on the outside and another car was on my inside with about .5 space. We both brake in the braking zone and I had go wide to try not to hit the other car. Some other genius with AT and TCS decided it was a brilliant idea to try to divebomb where there was absolutely no space at all. He hit the brake at 50m....way too late. He slid to the inside, hit the car and that car hits me.

I fell from P11 to P15 and slowly recovered. The prep however cut through the S and continued with no penalty whatsoever. My race was over at that point. I just wanna punch something lol.

Off to Sniper Elite 4

Aye, don't get me wrong, I'm happy with a new personal best. It's just not really up to scratch for competitive racing on my EMEA account

For what it's worth, I was liking how the 650S felt around Interlagos. Granted, it does feel MUCH more drivable on my wheel, than it ever did on a DS4 (the opposite is true of the NSX). But, we have had a massive physics change since I made the switch, so that may have something to do with it.

@GOTMAXPOWER Should loose massive amounts of SR.... he makes no attempt to avoid ghosts :p!
You should know by now that I drive through the back of all cars not just ghosts

I don't see any point in avoiding ghosts in the penalty zones. You can pick up a bit of a tow if you go through them and you're not compromising your line. It tells you when they will become solid again so you're safe to do it. I've never had SR drops for it.

The Aston is a beast in qualifying. My best on C right now is 1:32.651, but running some laps in the Aston last night I was getting optimals in the 31.9 range. Just never managed to hook the 3 sectors up cleanly to lock in that time. Will probably try again tonight.

Actually racing in one though is another story. Pretty sure the Aston is trying to follow in the lead of the #37 car at Nürburgring 24hrs this year by just dumping fuel straight out the exhaust.

Exiting instantly resets your DR?
So it’s best to run around in last if your having a bad day.

It doesn't reset your DR. If you quit you lose the same amount of DR as if you finished last. Personally I'd always hang in there to the end as you'll gain DR from people that DO quit and there's always a straggler having a worse day than you are who you can catch up to

If you're 100% sure you'll finish last and that nobody else will quit, then it makes no difference to DR but you will lose some SR.

Yes, and no.

Yeah, it'll be a mess. But, if you can manage to keep it on track, you'll pretty much be guaranteed a win.

Pretty much like actual real life racing in the rain then. 👍

Don't hate me, but I'm experiencing a certain amount of schadenfreude with some of you guys who are putting in 'average' lap times around Interlagos! Now I know it's likely just a case of bogey tracks, but my 32.6xx feels mighty fast relative to how I normally compare to some of you!

So if you can keep not being so fast, I'd appreciate it and feel much better about myself!

First time ever i think i have received 8 secs worth of penalty in a race. Would have been an easy win if not for the pens.

First incident, I am 1/4th passed the car and he turns in and spins himself. Boom 4 sec. Not sure what i need to do there.

2nd one completely my fault. Guy ran wide and i saw space and put my car in the gap. He turns obviously and i hit him. 8 sec total now.

Back to DR A now but SR Dropped to A as well :(
