It doesn't reset your DR. If you quit you lose the same amount of DR as if you finished last. Personally I'd always hang in there to the end as you'll gain DR from people that DO quit and there's always a straggler having a worse day than you are who you can catch up to

If you're 100% sure you'll finish last and that nobody else will quit, then it makes no difference to DR but you will lose some SR.

How is the DR calculated by finishing position?
I was at 140 and qualified 1st and won and it went up to 1,521.
I qualify 5th and end up 6th and it drops to 1,386,
It’s almost worth not qualifying.

The DR you gain or lose at the end of a race is calculated by the DR's of the other racers and where you finish against them. I have the formula somewhere and will see if I can dig it out. In short though, finish ahead of someone who has a higher DR than you = a big DR gain. Finish behind someone with a lower DR than you = a big DR loss.

It absolutely is worth qualifying!

I know it's not official yet, but is anyone else cringing at the idea of a rainy daily race?

The dailies have been messy this summer, haven't really made an effort to do race in one since Brands Hatch.
On Wednesday night, I did some rain races in the lobby. Someone had a lobby race that was N300 at RBR short, in heavy rain.
It was definitely the most fun racing I've done this week. You just have to brake really early. @NosOsH was there, too.
I think it would make a terrific daily race combo. 👍

Found the formula! All credit to @Famine

For every car you finish in front of you gain:
80 - ((Player DR - Rival DR))/500)DR

For every car you finish behind, you lose:
80 + ((Player DR - Rival DR))/500)DR

This article is also worth a read https://www.gtplanet.net/unravelling-mysteries-gt-sports-driver-rating-system-improve/

I look forward to rainy dailies, just not on RBR. That track has really bad track limits leading to all kinds of incidents between drivers that like to stay between the lines and those that take full advantage of going wide. First and last turn will be chaos. But maybe, just maybe, PD fixed the limits.

You give 80 DR + modifier to each car that finishes ahead of you
You gain 80 DR + modifier from each car that finishes behind you (or is listed as DNF)

The modifier is calculated by comparing your DR with the other driver's DR.
If you finish ahead, modifier = (Their DR - Your DR) / 500.
If you finish behind, modifier = (Your DR - Their DR) / 500.

So if you finish in front of a driver with higher DR, you get extra points, upto a maximum of 160 total. (40K DR difference for maximum bonus)
If you finish in front of a driver with lower DR, you get fewer points, but you always get at least 1 point.

And vice versa, it's a zero sum exchange. The only exception being that you can't go over 75K (extra points are lost) nor can you go below 1 (extra points are added to the system)

Qualifying helps to finish higher, but it entirely depends on who else is racing with you how many points you can earn in a race.
There's also a 1500 point bonus for going up a DR letter, which you lose when dropping down a DR letter.

Theoretical max gain for one race is 19*160 + 1500 = 4,540 for a heroic DR.D driver beating a full field of high DR.A drivers

Nah, I just post about it a lot. I think it was @Sven Jurgens who posted it on here first.

I think it found out about it from you lol.

I need to pay attention to that, new messages have been posted since you started typing warning :)

In the 10, or so wet weather races I've done so far, I haven't seen cars gain advantage in going wide. It seemed to be the opposite. 👍

The first time we get a wet weather race, it may surpass Monza for being the worst lap 1, turn 1. :ouch:

Starting last, won't be too bad of an idea.

Going to be a good weekend. First day of Spring, it's Father's Day weekend, Touring Car Master Blast weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park, TCR Australia race weekend and these

Main reason why I've been using the Gr4 M4. Closest thing to the real deal.

Not sure if the UK guy in the Toyota reads in here but since I can't send you a message, I apologize for my mistake in the first round which slided you off the circuit. I had to watch' the replay to see what happend. Clearly I didn't see you while trying to keep my Peug straight. Race was GR3 at Interlagos at 21:40. Sorry for that :scared:

I’ll be doing some race C’s tonight as well, gonna try both strategies and see which works best. :)
It's funny how people sometimes just don't seem to have too much awareness of what's happening around them. At race C, I pitted at the end of lap 6, and took 4 fresh mediums. A couple laps later, I caught up to a no-stopper, and he proceeded to do his best to block me. Was he just stubborn, or did he not notice that I gained 3-4 seconds per lap on him?

I was patient for a little bit, but ultimately had to use a slight nudge. ;)

You'll probably encounter a few drivers like that, when you pit.

I’m getting worse :(
I know i’ve got a 1:32 in me around Brazil currently 1:33.429
but I’m loosing time through the S each time I think i’ve nailed it, my ghost is ahead of me.
In the race I keep locking up the brakes and flying on, struggling to get the car stopped in time, i’ve even tried setting the brake bias to +3 now I can’t stay within the top 10 and maintain my qualifying lap pace, i’m loosing 3-4 seconds.

I've found that in race C both strategies still involve a little patience. On the no stop I had to be patient and give up some time at the start to stat in the slipstream a lot and pick passes wisely if the chance offered itself. When I have done the 1 stop I have to really pick the right time to pit on either of the three best option laps and then be ultra aware of where I catch and pass no stoppers. Trying to ensure I line them up for a clean shot down either big straight. That said, I found for my strategies I was holding 35s and 36s as my lap times for a no stop, but can clean a good 8 or so laps of 34s and possibly slip in a 33 when doing a stop. Depending severely on traffic or psychos. Such as the idiot I posted earlier pulling me from 3 seconds behind 4th when I was 6th to 12 back once I finally gave up and punted him. Just super hate the nasty crap and work hard to try and race clean.

By the way, if anyone knows an aussie who was rocking the ford gt all last night I made a wonky pass on him, tried to let him by on the front stretch, put my turn signal on left, pulled all the way right to almost touching the wall and eased off the gas 100m before the brake point. He didn't see it and rammed me. No penalty for him thankfully and didn't actually wreck me, but was hoping to let him by clean, oh well. Was a wylde race

Next weeks daily race C suggestion

Red bull ring full course
0445 Rain
12 laps
Group 2
Fuel x 10
Tyres x 6
Rolling start
Tyres, wets and intermediates
Grip - Real, real, real, real, real!!!!!
Bop - on

If you want a challenge set this up in custom race. Reduce the rolling start interval to minimum and start last. Fuel is good for 8-9 laps and tyres barely wear out.

I just did this in the 16 lexus against 19 other lexus 16's and got my ass kicked. Finished 13th and that's only cause some of the AI pitted twice.....very good fun though.

Yeah I find myself getting very aggressive with overtakes when I've pitted and a guy in a Porsche feels the need to weave and block everywhere with 4+ laps left!

I'm gonna get past eventually, he's just costing both of us time (if it's last couple of laps though and he may defend it, no problem)

I touched on that a few pages back, guys just move over, I'm.........inevitable.
