Do you always run races without qualifying? Is this common?

On that account, for Daily C, yes. I wouldn't do it on my Euro account, anymore.

It's common enough that there's always one or two other people running from the back of the grid.

The GR Supra GT Cup is finally over! :D Can't wait to mess around in the Daily Races now.

E: 13th in North America!!! :cheers::cheers::cheers:

Hopefully I'll see you on track at Tokyo, next week. Well, until you disappear down the road at a pace I can't run

I 'get it' but somewhere sardegna B loses me. I can lap consistent, but even without sliding or missing points people just drive away from me. Oh well. New week, new things soon

Well, if the pole sitter doesn't get punted to the Shadow Realm, they tend to just drive away. I've seen it all week. Heck, I even got to be the rabbit once. :D And let's not mention that being in the middle or back of the grid subjects you to dirty aero which messes with your braking efforts & punters.

I didn't know a valid mode of defence was to drive incredible slowly and repeatedly braking (Spanish GT-R that then pushed me off when I finally managed to get alongside), or that a clean pass for them where I get punished is where I'm already on the apex and they haven't braked at all and have instead rocketed into my side and sent me flying in the far wall after having been launched over all the sand (a German SC430 with 3-bars of connection that had already pushed me off the first time I passed it, and punted me the second).

Yeah, I think I got introduced to the "hit them in the side" loophole in order to avoid a penalty.

Well, I saved the replay. Apparently I need to start editing them too. I thought that the replay ended when the race did, but not. Why does it keep recording after the race?

Sorry mate, you have to manually stop the recording yourself, otherwise the PS4 will record a 15 minute block. The other option (the retroactive screen record) also records 15 minutes back....sometimes. I've seen it choose a spot to record to & ended up with 10 seconds clips when I wanted 15 minutes.

Today, I had my first win in months.
Congrats on the win! You missed the braking point for T1 all four flying laps... there's an angle in the paint stripe and a big brown spot in the grass on the left side of the track, that's where you should hit the brakes.

Got my Fuji Quali down to a 2:04.295, now I am the alien! Or at least sort of a half-breed. :)

So in honor of @JoeDaSnow I also managed to get my first win in months today. Had 3 races on race B. First was the traditional puntathon, but I managed to finish where I started and limited my DR damage. SR was another story. Second race was all good except for the monster 2.5 sec penalty for using the rumble strip on the last turn. Seriously? I only used it as I turned in early and got bounced wide, but the crew behind me were so far back I didn't lose any spots. Race 3 I had a really fast guy in front of me that I have raced before and I am starting second in an otherwise pretty weak field. Somehow he completely blows 3 of the first four turns so I get a clean run, and clean pass into the long left hander. Follow on to a clear run to the finish. No idea what happened to him as he was fourth at one point but set fastest lap by almost a second. I will take it anyway. Somehow I got something good from Sardegna. Cheers, now let's see what's up next week at RBR.

There's always gotta be that one alien in the Corolla race, I've come 2nd 3 times in a row to an A rated driver with a quali time a full second ahead of the pack, sigh.

It's far more annoying to have a 2:03 quali and get butchered at the first corner by someone on a 2:06.......

12 seconds and 6 places off first, in a field of rammers, blockers and nudgers, got back to 2nd with a 0.6 second deficit but ran out of laps.

What's the thing with people making no effort to take the last corner and just driving off down the escape road? It's slower ffs.

The racing is just fantastic this afternoon. How is this possible lol

Got a few more wins and a podium or two. Saw benrod a couple more times also. Been having some of the best races i can remember for a while.
Fantastic it was, indeed!

A : It's possible because matchmaking
If you have enough time to do consecutive Daily As, are relatively high ranking, and can maintain pace despite others offense/defense, by the time you get matched for your third race matchmaking should recognize you for the same "bracket". I race the same people, all day, everyday. At this point, 1 race out of 30 won't have a friend or frienemy, and maybe 1 race out of 500 will have nobody at all who knows me. I'm almost to 5700 races completed, 95% of them Daily A, so it's pretty rare to race with people who I've never raced before. There really actually isn't that many Daily A racers ranking A/S or plus. I always race my friends if I stay ranked reasonably high.

But it ain't all pretty all the time... believe me, there are plenty of people who despise me. I often wonder if they groan at the same time I do when matching comes up.

And, dude, we were the class of the field yesterday. That was much fun. It had been a while since I last saw you, and you did not disappoint!

I used to think of you as my prime race A adversary. Where your name really got stuck in my head, was at a race at Maggiore East II. It was probably a year, year and a half ago. The car was something like N300. I noticed you because you were faster than most, and in one race, we had some mutual bumping. The whole thing was probably started by me, because I used to be really bad at timing my braking when I was following someone.

For a long time, I would check the qualifying leader board to see if I was ahead of you, because I knew I'd be seeing you at race A, and didn't want to have to try to pass you.
Now I think of you as a teammate.

Things have changed. I don't really look for fights on the track anymore (self-defense is a different story). I'm a bit more patient when following somebody. I've found that if I do my job right, there's a good chance the guy in front of me will provide a passing opportunity, eventually.

Hope to see you out there, soon. 👍

Not sure about next week. If B has rain, I'll want to do that one. I'll definitely do plenty of race C. It's the most fun Tokyo layout. Next week's A race has been done so many times. :indiff:

I was just trying to have a good showing in each race tbh. I really enjoyed having yourself and others i knew or saw that you seemed to know in all the races, it allows for a certain amount of trust that changes how you drive for sure. Racing incidents happen, sure, but you can tell it's incidental not deliberate and gives some of the best door to door bumper to bumper racing availiable. It was a real treat to have a full afternoon of high quality races, and you sir were a big part of it, so i thank you for that  oh and i watched back the replay of our super close photo finish where you beat me by .004 and even the wife was impressed by the racing we had.

Wont get on today, but hope to have more great races with you soon :gtpflag:

It would be nice to have more races with this guy -->

Actually, the last race I did yesterday was a disaster. I got bumped by the same driver for 6 SR downs in 2 laps, then got bombed and spun in Dunlop by someone else to recieve SR down, 5s penalty, and another rapidly added SR down. From 99 to 75 SR in 3 laps = a screaming-at-the-TV-controller-spiking-scaring-the-dog RAGE QUIT!!!

Might've happened to me once or twice. :guilty: Check out my SR profile history. https://www.kudosprime.com/gts/stats.php?profile=2530016
I used to get reset all the time, but I'm trying to avoid that, nowadays. :)

Exactly the same for me last night. 3 laps. Quit. Down to 88 SR.

That was my only bad race all week (out of around 10). So was expecting it. But took me out of driving mood last night. Spent 2 hours changing the color of my suit and helmet instead.

Had a decent race this morning. 3rd to 3rd swapping places with 2 cars. Finished blue. +3 SR. Hope to try a few more today to repair SR.

Had a wonderful race B last night. The Subaru has been my go-to for this track because of its incredible stability, but after going up against a really good Argentinian driver in the Beetle I decided to try that out instead. Surprisingly it's basically the Subaru with more speed!! After a couple of races getting to grips with it I got into a great lobby and had this superb four way AMG vs. Beetle battle over the 5 laps. Enjoy!

I can't find the post that replied to me earlier haha.
But yes the hit me in the side and don't get a penalty thing has been used a lot at me tonight. Racers be dirty today.
Getting slyly pushed off by a car parallel to you on a corner yields them no penalty and me an SR down. Get punted into the sand while I'm braking might if I'm lucky yield them a 1s penalty, and my ghosted car will be stuck in the sand and not reset to the track.
Both races tonight have been ruined by dirty drivers employing those tricks, or ridiculous defending that includes running wide on a corner then darting horizontally back to the inside into the passing car... who gets penalised for hitting the one that attacks, while also losing acres of time by being stuck on the grass on the inside. The system is an utter farce. How is it fair someone can punt me off when I'm in 6th and push others and go on to finish 4th, while I get stuck in the sand for an age and wind up finishing 11th only because the people behind suffered much worse or quit?

Edit**
3rd race was EVEN WORSE.
Was running 4th, the guy in 3rd (German NSX) was pushing off everyone who got alongside to safely pass (I had started 9th and he had eliminated everyone between me and him) and never getting penalised (ended the race with no penalties and a shiny blue S in 4th). I got pushed off by him of course, ended up running 9th, pushed off again by a Dutch GT-R, down to 11th, pushed off again by a French GT-R, finished 14th.
Note that at NO point during the race did I do anything to these people to instigate anything, my driving itself was perfectly clean. Because of my low finishing positions I've lost 1300 DR tonight. I'm not happy at all. This kind of racing isn't fun, it's absolutely pathetic.

Edit**
Did a fourth race. Really wish I was allowed to name and shame cos the same German NSX was a problem across 3 of the races and after the most recent one said he wasn't being dirty and that everyone was bad at driving and drove themselves into the grass as he defended and we don't know what racing is, which of course the game agrees with since it gave him zero penalties and a shiny blue S each time. Boils my blood. I have the rage so no more unfun racing for me.

I’ve got a room open for racing Mazda Roadster TC’s if anyone interested, it’s vote track. :)

My timing finally coincided with race B. However too many Brazilians and my own internet isn't cooperating today either. I got up to 6th, then punted and bumped off a couple times to finish 12th. I got SR Down for getting rear ended but escaped further penalties. Back to No Man's sky, too much lag in GT Sport.
