First race of today...

Had second place under a second behind till the last few sections. The more i run this track in competition the more i realise how much time is gained or lost on just a hanful of turns.

I nearly had the very same race. From P2 into P1 on the first turn and held it till lap 4. Then punted in T1 on lap 4. I got a lead but not enough to avoid the punts. My take on that is if you get a significant lead and let the fight go on behind then you are good. But, with the long straight, if you don't get over a second lead and break the draft then it seems easy enough to get reeled in. Even if you are faster in the twisty bits it leaves you in the line of fire at the end of the straight.

Yeah, I noticed that when I accepted a friend request (thus put gts in the background) right at race start, that my car would get stuck and force a standing start for everyone behind me. After that happened again today I figured out I can trigger it by simply leaving gts in the background during the line up sequence. I had it before when I was messaging during the line up sequence, gts in the background, botched start.
 
@6BK Very true, i have been fortunate enough to have fair clean competiton, I'll take a clean second over a dirty win any day of the week. That said, had a real jackhole in my last race. He hit me fairly hard in the right hander after the first high speed section (i need to get a map) i saved enough to not go into the sand but still got turned 180. I shoudla let it go to the sand cuse he didn't get a penalty and went on to win. Judging by the comments from multiple people after the race, all of who i know to be clean, i was not his only victim....
 
@Dairyworker it's funny how your natural instinct to be fair is regretted later. I was in exactly the same situation where I was pushed off the track but was at least able to keep it going the right way and tuck back in behind the offending car. Later I thought how easy it would have been to let my wheels just go that extra inch over the kerbing and give him a penalty. Then it dawned on me (I must be nieve for it to only dawn on me then...) that it is very easy to commit a professional foul by rubbing a car and then veering off track or up against a wall for a second (depending on the track) only to give them a 5 second penalty.

That said, it's not all negative. These sore points hurt at the time but we coming back for more so there's enough positive play and fun battles to justify putting up with the crap.
 
Do have people also often that when you want to join a race and the time is over you get kicked? I have it to often and getting tired of it, just now I want to do the championship race and get kicked, next race 21:40 that's more then 2 hours later.......

Then there's also the old 2 for 1. I saw people at Monza touch another car, then drive straight through the chicane, giving the other guy a penalty, while getting none for themselves, for cutting the corner. :boggled:
 
I'm sorry if I'm writing something that's already been said, but I don't get why I'm always matched with lightning quick people. I'm B with 26.000 points (SR. S, 99) and I end up in rooms with S-rated drivers and A+ quick as f, and I'm never able to finish in top 5. Really we are that few who play the daily races? Is there a trick with the SR to do in order to be matched up better?

I feel you on that! I’m a B driver mostly from stubbornness and experience more than outright pace and I keep getting chucked into these rooms where half the field is DR A and S. It would be nice to have a few more races I had a chance to win, but at the same time I just noticed my SR is at an all time high (20k) by racing the best.

I try to haunt the off peak hours when the hardcores who can afford the full wheel setup are likely occupied like Friday evenings and holidays. Closing in on the pole trophy after more than a year but the win trophy still looks a long way off..

I used to feel that way. But now appreciate the competition.

What scares me more is faster drivers with lower DR (some possibly alt accounts) as they can take a weeks' worth of points away in one race. :scared:

To answer your question, you get matched with lightning quick people because you are close to lightning quick. According to the computer. Or closest to it at the time. To avoid it, get better..... or worse. Of course I'd prefer it if everyone got worse. :p

Yeah, I'm one of those B Drivers who has gotten there through mostly stubborn slow gains. Staying in Demolition derby races has somehow gotten me many points over the years. Gets scary sometimes when I get a good (for me) qualifying lap and start 12th in a field of C and D drivers. I'm learning that being able to nail that same lap for every lap of the race seems to get you past a lot of those drivers. Race C is an example of this so far this week. My time is 3:33 (I think, might be a 34), but I lap at that lap or 3:30 every lap in the race while driving super cautious. And I get to pass lots of people spinning and bailing everywhere. Good for points, although as I'm using Mr. META as my car this week I would love any tips on avoiding the (un)guided cruise missiles of the Group C cars that come up on the straights. And for the love of mercy please learn to keep the R92 and the 787 in a straight line, i've seen more of those flailing around as I go by (only to get zoomed by on the straights) than I ever thought possible.
 
Did a few B races at Nordschleife, started at pole. Since I didn't warm up much before starting, I was obviously slower than my Q time.

Enter 2nd place. This guy is pretty darn good. In the race before, he was right behind me the entire time and passed me at the back straight to win the race.

So for this race, I start to plan out how I will win this race.

I'm gonna do what's called a "pro gamer move:" ease off the throttle after the Flugplatz, and move to the side. Sadly, he didn't fall for it, as he stayed behind me, but that did make the pack behind us catch up.

I try it again at Ex-mühle, and it works. He passes me, and I tuck myself behind him.

I stay within .6 to 1 second behind him, and as we approach the back straight, my plan turns into a 900 IQ move. With the slipstream, I easily pass him and take the win.

Good idea. I wouldn't try that at race C, though. It sucks following other cars there. If you're close behind someone who screws up and goes off track, the air pulls you hard in the same direction.
 
Gave the Nürburgring race a whirl... Not interacting with other cars remains a feature of sport mode for me, but at least if you start on pole it's less of an issue.

Accidentally qualified for la Sarthe. Balls. Still, it was a feeler lap on the DS4. 3:33 should see me at the back of the grid.

Is there a way to harvest/deploy more hybrid energy? I'm watching/racing against ghosts that appear to have way more acceleration in 2nd and 3rd gears where the hybrid is active.

How well this works, depends on the car. But, brake balance towards the rear, and lift/coast will give you decent regen.
 
This is what I've been up to this afternoon, fun!

That was the easy part, the clean up will take a couple of weeks at least.

Back to the Nord now. SR.B is pretty different when the schools are out :lol: Lot of childish behavior on the track. Doesn't matter, they are still easy to pass again. But what is the obsession with drifting in this car. It's not a drift trial, it's not faster, you're just bumping people off the track with your back end and then blame them for not leaving you space....

SR.B is where I'm staying I guess. 3 clean races, gain a couple SR, 1 BS penalty, lose the progress of those 3 races again. I was up to 56 now back to 49. Up and down it goes.

Yep, don't mind SR.B at all.

What has changed since yesterday? The Toyota now runs out of gas.

I was on for my first clean race at La Sarthe. Then I thought about it too much and missed the braking point for the first chicane. Then Indianapolis. Then ran out of gas.

Getting back up to speed takes extra gas! Getting punted into the sand not only messes up your tires, your fuel strategy as well :/
