When green is all there is to be. It could make you wonder why? But, why wonder, why wonder? Not sure if I'll be doing another daily C this week or not. Missed a few either cause I fell asleep and missed the entry window, been too sleepy to race, or the princess had me on furniture duty. Went in with the '17 Lexus with my fluffy bunny slippers on, and managed to cut some more time off qualy. Still 10s away from where I would like, but it did put me starting P4/18 on a grid of DR/Cs with a couple of DR/Bs and four of us DR/Ds. That meant I had 14 people behind me wanting to slam, crush, slide, or otherwise decimate my race....or so the paranoid voice in my head was saying.......

Race starts and the dash for crash was on! When the race started I had been promoted to P3. T1 was fairly orderly and I was lucky to have a patient guy behind me. He nearly had an opportunity at the exit to T2, but I managed to get moving and in position just in time . I was short shifting like a champ and the Lexus was dancing through the corners. The guy behind me was a steady 2s behind me the whole way, occasionally closing to 1s. I managed to stay on track for the whole first lap!

Second lap, P1&2 pitted, and for a brief second I was in P1!!!! but the actual P1 came out of the pits ahead of me, so P2 for me.. happy with that! The guy behind me didn't pit either. I was still short shifting, and i think my tyres were starting to fade just a little. The gear recommendations were lower than they were first lap. I stuck with is and managed to hang in there. I had to pull a couple of Hail Marys to stay on the track, but I think my focus and tyres were stating to show. I was really sloppy going through the chicane leading on to the beginning of the Nord.

The guy behind me was catching and leading up to the Karrusell the gap had dropped to 0.5s. I managed to stay ahead through the Karrusell, but somewhere along the way he had caught me, I made a mess of one bit and spent some time on the grass. I managed to coax the car back on to the track. He had overlap, so I braked to let him slip through and off he went while I fought with the tyres. I managed to start closing the gap, and the next guy was closing the gap on me. By the time I hit the main strait the gap behind had shrunk from 7s to 2s. By the time I got to Hohenrain I was about 1s behind the guy in front. I finished 0.5s behind in P3, but when they showed the results, it was P4 . I had no penalties, so I don't know where the extra car came from, I'm assuming it was the car that vanished at the start?

SR back up to 99 and DR went up a hair over 1k. I was pretty happy with that .. I started P3 one time some time ago and ended up P18 after T1 of the first lap!!! Another day above DR 1 :dopey:.

I think it's legit. I've raced the EU #1 and he did a 8:14 on lap 2, 9s faster on a flat out qualy lap with no fuel weight or tyre wear sounds believable.

8:14 second lap doesn't sound believable to me either
I'm so slow :ouch:

However now the races have cleared up considerably, I'm improving my second lap times in every car I retry. Still 8:14 seems from a different galaxy. 10 seconds faster than my best with some drafting

There he goes!

Btw we need that Madrid track with rain in GTS :)

Roundabouts!

Yay, the races are clean and fast tonight. I put the Lexus back on top of my list :D

8:24.449 (8:23.010) Lexus RC F '17, good on fuel
8:24.674 (8:29.450) Corvette C7, tight on fuel
8:26.083 (8:31.016) Ford GT, good on fuel
8:26.391 (8:26.630) AMG, good on fuel
8:26.532 (8:30.977) Citroen GT, decent on fuel

Still not beat my old record but it really comes down to a good combination of draft opportunities. Just now I was pretty much on my own for most of lap 2, so can still go faster while drafting another fast driver. At the start of the week the best I could do was 8:29 in the Lexus.

Tomorrow I'll revisit some other cars. Vette, AMG, F Type, Supra, Mustang can all do better. Supra, Mustang and maybe Vette should benefit from fm2 in the twisty bits. They were very tight on fuel. AMG and F type should do better now the races are cleaner and faster.

Then there was an A+ driver doing 8:18 in the Ferrari  I might feel fast, I'm still slow

Ending the night with a close 3rd place finish with clean race bonus. Great night racing on the N24! The Lexus fits that track like a glove, for me at least. My DR is back up to 42.4K after the troubles with the Huracan, Ferrari and a disconnect brought it back down to 39.2K. It was up to 43.1K with the Peugeot RCZ. Not that far to beat that. (if the power and internet stay on, stormy here)

Thanks for this Sven. I just tried the GT but I was far too tight on fuel so I was slow (8m40+), got punted all over the show and still ran out of gas on the line. Cluster****!

There's this GT-R, but that's kind of the opposite way round:

Chase cam driving? :yuck:
And a GT-R :yuck:

PD likely used RL telemetry and inputs to help get the physics model as accurate as possible.

I don't know if this actually worked

Despite the obvious "git gud"... for Race B, my Quali is a 1:16.9 but can only do 17.5-9s in race, how would I improve on getting a race pace closer to quali?

I have the same issue. But, in the race, you have so much more to worry about than pace. Just maintain consistency & don't run off track. Off track events have taken away several wins for me. And why? I was trying to be the fastest guy on track. As long as you're in the lead, I don't worry about how far off my QT I am.

Yup. The guys behind you are going to make mistakes, too.
That being said, the kind of guys that don't make mistakes, are more likely be in front of you.

The frantic refreshes paid off

Next week's races are up

Race A: Tokyo Central Outer loop - N100 (4 laps)

Race B: Red Bull Ring - Gr.4 (4 laps)

Race C: SPA - Gr.3 (8 laps, RH tires, Fuel x5, Tires x7)
(YASSSS BOYS)

Nice. I'm GUESSING that Race C will be a no stop but could be wrong. I suppose it all depends on if softer compounds are also available as kudosprime doesn't always show that info.
It will be interesting to see how the rolling start works too. A large part of the field is likely to start before the final chicane so that could get all kinds of messy.
Bring it on!

Per World Tour, the last two cars were coming out of the last corner. With the extras (8?) in the Daily C and you're right, there will be people turning into the first right of the chicane.

Aww, no rain. The week after! 8 laps will be good to learn the track :)

Same fuel and tire settings as N24 this week which is all no stop but tight on fuel, tires no issue.
8 laps on Spa is about 57 km with the rolling start, N24 this week is 51 km. You might have to stop for fuel in some cars but likely it will just be tighter fuel management to do well. Drafting from the back!

The World Tour events use a rolling start with a much tighter formation than the daily races, where rolling starts are spread further out. So I'm hoping that what @DesertPenguin said is correct, and the start is moved further back.

I hadn't thought about fuel so that's a good point. I actually like a bit of fuel management so that's a plus for me :)

A) not interested
B) Really? Two weeks in a row of Gr. 4 in the B race.

Rolling starts in a custom race with AI starts everyone on the back straight before Blanchmont, the high speed left hander before the bus stop

I didn't think about that. In the arcade mode race, it started everybody single file rolling start before the final chicane.

What sort of qually time would you be doing Sven?

I've just fired up the PS4 and I've done a 8:18 in the AMG. The fastest ghost I have in the library in an 8:13 in the M3 GT (several updates ago). I've not tried the Supra but I usually find it too twitchy. The fact my current time isn't even top 500 tells me I'm missing a trick.

Was really hoping Spa would be race B, but I avoid race C too much and should probably stop doing that.

I completely forgot about the rolling starts, that'll be a challenge in itself so quali will be key.

It'll be late, but gonna try a test lobby with these settings tonight to see what I'm getting in to.

I'm not sure what the combos were but I usually qualify in the Lexus

I won't qualify until Sunday though and then only a few laps to see where I'm at.[/URL]

Probably should do one race, skip the next and hot lap and then do the next race,,
I also notice how my heart rate increases before the start of a race
I've found that you gotta find your rhythm, and be consistent even around traffic :scared:. If someone ahead of you has good racecraft and decent speed, apply steady pressure and try to force a mistake :mischievous:. I figure even if I can't get by there's a chance that we'll gap the field behind us :sly:.

Spent the last two days racing the Nurb. with the wheel. Target was to finish better than my starting position which I did, except one race out of 18. :) Still small mistake happening with the wheel but I'm getting more and more consistent.

First QT was 8.37, started mid pack and bleed SR all morning.
Then QT of 8.27 and starting from top 8 for the afternoon. Some good results.

Yesterday I manage a 8.22 QT and things went pretty well. Starting top 4-5 all day. Sometimes at the finish, @Sven Jurgens was ahead of me. Also manage a win from P3.

And this is how I got my first win

Honestly, in the cockpit vue I thouth I was at least 2 wheels on track.
Last week I lost a win like that. Karma I suppose.

The problem with that is that the physics are different in hot lapping. You're hot lapping with perfect tires and no fuel weight, then you get in the race and now your car is heavier while the tires degrade. Switching back and forth will keep throwing you off.

I use it as an opportunity to save fuel, coast a bit into turns, use higher gears. Applying pressure doesn't really work as when the car ahead messes up you either have to brake to avoid them or run into them. I find that keeping a few car lengths distance gives me the perfect position to pounce when the car ahead struggles with a corner. It also helps with keeping a clear view of the track and what's ahead of the car you're behind.

Applying pressure also makes the car ahead slower, giving the field behind a chance to close the gap. Save some fuel, pick the right time to floor it.

(erm oops, was going to merge that, sorry for double post)
