I'd like AWD and FF cars unselectable for mixed Gr.4 Daily and Nations races. Not for the META-ness, but for the reasons why Gr.3 are RWD only. Ironically, just like is said in the GT Sport classes video. GR.3 follows the rules of real GT3. So it should be with GR.4.

GR.4 Atenza should be like it's Gr.3 big brother. There's a RWD WRX in BTCC. TT is AWD in real life. Just switch drivelines. Also, ironically, PD saw fit to pit in the RWD Megane. Blah blah blah, whinge whinge whinge, ramble ramble ramble.

The characteristics of those(AWD, FF) cars, really ruin any type of run when using a RWD car.

Got a win in daily C, started p3 then performed the best passing move I think I've made in this game to get into 2nd, then the guy in 1st who was about 12 sec ahead disconnected with 2 laps to go.

What's the easiest way to stick a replay onto YouTube?

Who even says this? It doesn't make you faster in any way so that makes little to no sense.
There's a certain hardcore elitist minority in the userbase of any vaguely sim style game who will insist that any feature or function that doesn't exist in real life shouldn't exist in the game. Fortunately, GTS isn't a hard core Sim, so that group are not present in high numbers in this community.
In this case, the principal appears to be that TCS should not be a user option. It should be implemented only on cars that have it in real life, in exactly the same form as it appears in real life.
Since this game was designed to be accessible to sim beginners, I see no reason not to have some features to help beginners. The game still has modes that offer challenging and rewarding experiences to more advanced players and TCS doesn't detract from this, so I have no feelings that it should be removed.

TCS (and similar functions) are common place in various race series (sometimes even legally ;)) so that argument is somewhat moot.

Some cars in GT S are borderline impossible without TCS. It definitely slows you down in terms of outright pace, but in certain situations it guarantees you actually complete a lap at all.

I never use TC. Tc is in your leg

+1 A like is not NEAR enough for this post. I don't think for a second that it's a coincidence that, when racing gr4, and my race gets ruined, it's a FF car 85% of the time. I also don't think it's realistic that, even with a better drive off the corner in a RWD car,(read gaining time) that a FF car will pull away.

Haha i didnt know you use ds4 sorry, yea but every week is one or two cars the best. Mount panorama is always FF CuP

It does - or it does at least as much as Gr.3 does.

GT4 regulations are all over the map because they're road cars with enough safety modifications to be race cars, and motorsport-grade components. GT4 includes cars from the 155hp Mazda MX-5 to the 500hp Aston Martin V8 Vantage, and the tiny KTM X-Bow up to the massive Chevrolet Camaro, all equalised so they're about as quick as each other round a given race track.

I'm not actually aware of any GT4-homologated front- or four-wheel drive cars, but they have raced with special dispensation in GT4-type categories against GT4-homologated cars. One example is...

TT is AWD in real life.
The TT road car is both front and four-wheel drive, but the TT Cup you see in GT Sport is just as front-wheel drive in real life. It was Audi's entry in TCR in 2015 and the regulations require two-wheel drive only.

It probably wouldn't take a huge effort to dig out another, or a four-wheel drive car, from a series or race with a GT4-type category like the N24, but I'm feeling lazy right now. Edit: Subaru ran an AWD Impreza STI - and won - in the SP3T category, which is a GT4, sub-two-litre class, at the N24.

The RWD Subaru in BTCC is an odd example given that most BTCC cars are in fact front-wheel drive. BTCC isn't GT4 - it uses a regulation set called NGTC, and cars must use two-wheel drive and their original drivetrain layout. There's an allowance for converting four to two, with transverse-engined cars becoming front-wheel drive and longitudinal-engined cars becoming rear-wheel drive. Subaru and Audi are longitudinal, so they're rear-wheel drive.

I've been racing with a wheel for almost 20 years. I have no problem with ds4 users using TCS. I've known since GT3 that the controller had different car physics than a wheel, and TC makes sense with a controller.

Last weeks races with the new RX7 wouldn't have been near as much fun (for me, and many I raced with) with TCS. If TCS had been default on, I probably wouldn't have bothered. As it was, they were the best races ever!

OK, I see. Well I’d say wanting it removed for that reason is taking it a little too far given how it isn’t advantageous and I’m sure there are other small unrealistic things one could cherry pick as well so why target TCS specifically?

What it does now is pretty much making sure people who might’ve slid off and crashed (possibly into other cars) instead stay on track and I fail to see how that's a con.

Trust, I've had my fun with FF cars in mixed Gr.4 racing. Many of my posts on here, show the Scirocket as my go to. When I first bought the game, the Atenza was the one. Then, I discovered the NSX. Today, it's so much of a hinderance. Battling a train of FR & MR cars and then, having to "wait" for an FF to get up to speed. I've had gaps behind dwindle because of it.

The first two races below, were throw away races. Finished last in the first and got a penalty in the second. The following two races, a Megane that ran me into the pit wall, just before the finish line, gets a 5 second penalty in the last race. Justice.
My last race for the night, saw me have a clean battle with a Vantage, after that Megane served it panlty.

Oh, no doubt, I know the categories. Just using the BTCC car as an example, since PD made many race cars from scratch.:)

Ahh, yeh, that's the thing. These guys whinge, whine and carry on about *any* driver aid. In some cases even if they exist in the real car. These guys are generally DR A+, have been playing sims for years, and often have a GT Academy connection. The inane chatter and often off topic tangents of conversation that frequently crop up in this thread tend to keep them away .

Lol, what’s satisfying is after many many months of Panorama and beating my head against the wall in gr 4 trying pretty much every car to combat the Megane is just learning to drive the stupid thing, and finally being able to pass them on the straight!
I swear it’s damn therapeutic to get the drive and slipstream, pull out and pass, and cover em up at the end of the straight.
So many times I felt like kicking a dog after literally being within two car lengths, GAINING ON EXIT and STILL they walk you down the straight...It’s awesome to get the drive and be able to use it.
I resisted the whole time I had the game until now...
Because not only do they have awesome acceleration, they also have awesome braking and good aero.

So far this week I have had pretty much all fun races on a and b, C race is usually where I hangout, but this week I wouldn’t run that on my worst enemies account haha.
I just don’t think most players have enough control on a new track. Seems to me it takes the playerbase a few races or so before they finally realize gosh I can’t outbrake the track and my car can’t takes corners 10mph faster than everyone else haha.
You mean three wide won’t work through the corkscrew? Lol. You mean my brakes don’t have magical powers that let my car and my car alone dive perfectly under braking from forty meters back? Haha. Funny thing is I run Interlagos all the time when it’s gr3 and a lot of people don’t like that one...

Race C hot lapping from yesterday and today on main account for a best of 1:23.769 in Renault RS01.
I’m a long way from knowing this track.
However, I need to race while I’ve got plenty of time off work. So spent some time today on second account racing at Laguna Sec.
Car used was in the first two races was the Renault RS01.Started from the back.

Race 1:

Started 20th. Pole was 1:22.114. Full grid of B/S drivers. I’m the only driver not to set a time.
Finished 13th. Didn’t pit. Kept it clean. Blue SR. No penalties but didn’t get a CRB. I didn’t do a single proper overtake all race! Up 7 places as others going off or getting into battles and receiving penalties.
My fastest lap was 1:27.000.

Race 2:
Started 20th. Pole was 1:22.114 – same driver as race 1. All B/S again.
Finished 14th but was timed out. A couple of spins on lap 4 ruined my tyres, so pitted on lap 9.
No penalties and Blue SR for me. Over half the grid had penalties at the end of the race.
My fastest lap was 1:25.078.

Lost around 1000 DR in these two races.

Lots of people in the AMG Merc in these two races, so I’ll swap to this car for the next race.

--

Set a qually lap in the AMG Merc on second account – 1:24.257. BB at +2.

Race 3:

Started 16th. Pole 1:22.120. All B/S drivers.
Nice mix of cars – Mitsubishi, Aston, Beetle, AMG Merc, Porsche, Mazda.
Finished 10th. Didn’t pit. Had to move BB to 0 on about lap 10.
Gained two places on the last lap as two cars touched at the corner after Corkscrew. I’ll take that!
No penalties and a clean race bonus for me.
My fastest lap 1:25.504.

Merc feels more consistent in the race than the Renault.

Race 4:

Started 17th. Pole 1:22.543. Again, all B/S drivers.
Renaults, Aston, Porches, Mustang, AMG Mercs, Beetles.
Terrible race! Ruined by one dirty driver. He tapped me into the wall at the Corkscrew, and that was the second run in I had with him. I saw him tapping other drivers in front of me too.
His KScore profile is like a yoyo. He’s done over 1500 races.
I had about 15 seconds of penalties and red SR. Finished 18th.

I'll go back and watch the replay later.

You can say your Peter, say your Allan, don't put me up on your bedroom wall. Caaaaaalllll meeeeee, King of the Mountain! Wow what a difference a day makes .

I did my first race at Bathurst for the week a couple of days ago with the <vomit>Mustang. I started P11/15 on a mixed DR/D/C grid. I was holding my own and had by the misfortune of others made up a few places on the first lap. Headed full blast toward the kink at the end of Conrod, I moved over to give room, and as is often the case (this will be the 4th time I think), I moved over just that bit too far, put tyres on the grass, and strait lined the kink through the sand, across the track and into the wall on the other side of the track :banghead:. The race just went downhill from there on dirty tyres. I finished P13, but only because two cars 🤬 up after The Chase. I didn't do a race report because it was just too pathetic. SR blue, Dr dropped 650.

Tonight, I qualified 1s faster with the GT-R, which is 1s slower than I know I have been able to do with the WRX and Veyron in the past. I look for my name near the bottom. I look up. The shakes kick in and I'm thinking WTF?? Pole?? Really? I run round screaming "The sky is falling! The sky is falling!", then realise I better get back to the controller, the race is about to start.

Autodrive lets go .... on the start/finish strait. FINALLY!!!! Hale:censored:luyah! Pointing in a strait line and not mid frigging corner/chicane/other pointless obstacle for a start position. We go careening towards the dash for crash at T1, but the guy behind me is like 1.5s back, so a bit of wiggle room to make the corner and blast up Mountain Strait. The gap was 2s headed towards The Cutting.

There must have been some biffo behind me because P2 dropped to P3 and the new P2 was 5 and then 7s behind me. Even though I was driving like a nana . I nearly bottled it on the last lap at the end of Conrod. I practically came to a complete stop on the outer edge of the corner ..but kept off the grass! And still a 7s gap :dopey:.

Wheeeee! That's 4 of my 7 wins at Bathurst on 3 separate weeks.. all Gr4 . Missed out on the clean race bonus because I brushed a wall. I'm still kinda shaky, but steady enough to type :scared:.

Blue SR. DR up 1.1k  . Another day above DR 1 :dopey:.

Just got back from the store. I heard a classic old school song in the car. Anyone else remember this jam, from the days of synthesizers and record scratching?

*Fun fact: According to Chris Farley, Herbie Hancock was also an original framer of the US Constitution. 👍

Classic track!

Just my 2c regarding TCS. I use TCS2 on certain tracks in certain cars. Something like the gr3 Porsche I need TCS on a lot of tracks, so I use the AMG (TCS off) instead for its driveability on those tracks. In races depending on the field I sometimes switch it on because it can definitely save you from a spin if you are surrounded by punters. All gr4 cars I turn TCS off.

Oh also, in manufacturers I am with BMW and in the gr3 events I generally have TCS2.

Looks like we got a peek in to our first full week of dailies for 2020 (For the week starting Jan 6th):

Race A: AUTOPOLIS INTERNATIONAL RACING COURSE
4 Laps, Hard Tires.
GR.4 - Specially Provided Car.

Race B: Autodrome Lago Maggiore - GP
4 Laps, Hard Tires.
Gr.3 garage car.

Race C: Nürburgring Nordschleife
2 laps, Sports Hard Tires.
N300 - 1 Make.
Fuel X3, Tires X5.

Not the most exciting races IMO.

Congratulations! I have stayed away from the mountain all week out of fear of dirtiness. Everyone here tells me how dirty race C is, yet I have run nothing else all week and nearly all clean.

More repeats oh dear

On the brightside it's a good chance to get through a backlog of games

Is anyone else finding the tire wear with a DS4 very high?

I tried the Renault and RCZ and by lap 10, my tires are cooked. By the end of the race, the cars are essentially unusable. It's super frustrating.
Haven't tried the Renault but everyone I've heard from has had issues with it. RCZ has been pretty good for me in terms of tyre wear haven't had any major issues with it

I use the DS4, and have only tried race C once this week. I used the Genesis, which just got a nice power increase.
It went pretty well. I got a 3rd place finish without stopping. The tires were maybe a bit below 50% at the end. 👍
