I feel the need to, just so that here's no doubt.

I included the lap leading up to the incident from the Mercedes. He had already punted the Beetle off on lap 1.

Okay I get it  I'm sorry for getting the wrong end of the stick!

That said the Merc was mighty close to completely wiping out the Jag from the punt, but just cleared them. Yes the Merc absolutely got what they deserved!

Drove 85 miles on race a yesterday, mainly qualifying. Tried my best to get in the 1:05.XX's but was stuck on 1:06.067. I have no idea how @Pigems and the top 10 guys are so fast. I need to put in more time.

I watched the top dog in my region and one thing i noticed and have tried with limited success is gear down to first right before the apex in the hairpins. Its fast but you have to time the trailbreaking, downshift and the release of the breaks perfectly. If done right you get a nice sliding rotation wich allows getting on the power a bit earlier. Dont accellerate on 1st gear, shift up right before you get on the gas.

EDIT: I have a 1.05.535 but i didnt get it by using the aboved mentioned technique. Maybe someone using this can explain the corner voodoo shenanigans further

Nice lap man! I’ve got literally the exact same lap(5.535), I didn’t use 1st anywhere. I don’t even think used 4th gear. Trail braking is the key though, and waiting to shift down as long as possible seems to help quite a bit as well. Also make sure to ease back o to the throttle on exits so minimize wheel spin. :)

Just tried my first race since the penalty system was updated. Race C - starting from the back on second account. All drivers were B/S rated. Pole was in the1:43s.

Some drivers were clearly being intentionally dirty.
I got pushed off once into the gravel by one driver - tap......tap...... tap........ there I go!!
Brake checked and then bashed into the wall on the start finish straight by another driver.
Total muppets!

PD need to take the "Racing Etiquette" videos offline coz they are irrelevant to game play. Certified for Online Racing - come on!?

My qually time at Laguna Seca on main account is 1:43.9xx. That would have put me third on the grid for this race - a race I ended up last in!

Edit: decided to try again, but this time put a qually lap in on 2nd account to try and avoid some of the carnage.

Started 7th. Finished 5th.

Still bumpy, but overall I saw less dirty stuff. Someone tried to push me off again, but I caught it. Then I used him as a brake the following corner. It just ends up Battle Royale!

Alright! Cool! Im a bit confused/stupid though, you only use1st and 3rd or did you mean that you never used 1st?

I never use 4th either. If i get a fast exit at the last hairpin the revstop hits just as I break for the long right before the swedish. I meant finnish. :P

I cant for the life of me understand where im gonna 0.7 of a second though. 1.04.8 is not human

Here are a couple races from last week starting from the back in the Americas.
After painting myself as a dirty savage with that revenge punt this hopefully shows that I'm a fairly patient and respectful driver most of the time.

It's probably a combination of these factors:

1. Extra engine braking. Gearing multiplies torque and that includes "negative" torque from engine braking. A sudden jolt of negative torque when releasing the clutch will momentarily create slip on the rear tyres giving increased rotation, even with a perfectly rev-matched downshift.
2. Extra weight transfer to the front. That sudden jolt will also transfer weight to the front tyres and lighten the rear, creating extra rotation.
3. Increased "negative" torque helps engage the differential. In 2nd you have less "negative" torque because of the gearing and because the revs are so low so perhaps the differential doesn't engage properly in 2nd.

Yup. It's a bit confusing because the term "trail braking" is synonymous with this car rotation trick but most articles about trail braking only concern themselves with the corner entry and not the balance of brake and throttle through the apex to rotate the car. This article does a decent job of explaining it though: https://nasaspeed.news/columns/driver-instruction/how-to-rotate-a-car/

You are correct, I miss typed that, I didn’t use 1st gear in the hair pins at all, I don’t think I used 4th either but I’m not 100% on that, I’ll check my replay when I get home today and post the lap. :)

4.8 must be damn near a perfect lap, that’s crazy fast! I think my optimal was only 5.3 maybe?

There’s a YouTube guy, Driver61 I think? He’s got some really good instructional videos on Trail Braking, among other things. Definitely worth a watch. :)

Alright well, it only took a day for the usual ******** to resume on Daily Race B. I witnessed the worst behaviour I have ever seen in a single lobby in this game, but I somehow managed to avoid falling victim and went from 8th to 3rd. Another race I started in 4th and had a close battle with the car in front of me, but I was avoiding any bold moves because it's just not how I drive. Finally, he makes a mistake in the chicane, I go up the inside alongside him on the final turn, they either have no idea I'm there or just don't understand how these things work, because I took the tightest possible inside line I could, and they turn right into me and bounce back to the outside. So I spend the next two laps just driving defensively, and they constantly tap me from behind because they're impatient. Again, at the hairpin at the bottom of the hill, I take the inside as tight as I can, they slam into me from the outside line. Going into the final lap, I allow them to take the inside line into Turn 1, just to give them to opportunity to get away if they have a bit more pace than me, and of course, they go too deep into the corner and I cut back and end up finishing in 3rd.

Afterwards they say "oh boy" because that was clearly all my fault. I'm not an aggressive driver. If someone is legitimately (cleanly) outpacing me I try to let them through. I could have been aggressively attacking that person in the first half of the race when I was the one behind. But I waited for a mistake because otherwise I would have had to divebomb them to get through. And it's frustrating that someone who is a relatively good driver doesn't even realize how much buffer I was giving them, and once they made the mistake and I took the opportunity that it was somehow a personal offense, then they got so impatient that they tried passing on the outside of tight corners and going too hot into the hairpin. But afterwards they still thought I was to blame.

So today is the first time I've been on this week. I couldn't figure out why all the cars were all over Nurburgring GP. Then I realized I never took the heavy wet tires off.

I'm still figuring out which gears I really need to be in for the turns. That indicated Gear on the HUD is almost always a gear too low. Is there a way to cut that off?

Supra, Mustang and AMG 16 down to 1:59.4-8 but I'm all over the place. I tried the Corvette which seemed to click right off the bat, I managed a 1:58.5 after 5 laps. Now its off to work. I'll try to qualify for Laguna if I get off at a decent time tonight.

You can not guarantee what he thinks beacause you are not him:) Yes race isnt better when I take revenge, but it isnt worse beacause its bad from 1st corner:) I repeat: for me there is no difference between dirty and mistake, my race is ruined. I should just let them do this? Thats not what my father teach me;)
Revenge is a fools game . And it get u down two their level ;)

B race qualifying.... i hate the R18 :ouch: ( when did the 911 stop being the nurb GP go to? ) requires such a gentle touch at times it just feels like your not pushing hard enough. Tempted to try the supra at some point.

1:55.228 for now but i messed up the chicane, if i hook everything up for an optimum lap there is a 55 dead in there i think

I can't seem to get into the top 3 for Race C. I've simply been unable to catch the lead cars, even though I'm pushing the car as hard as I can. It's a really frustrating feeling when you know you're pushing, but it's not enough. When everyone is in the same car, a small mistake can prove very costly. When the gap extends past a certain point, you're screwed.

Qual lap at Laguna Seca of 1:43.7 so up near the front of the start.

Makes no difference as I’ve been punted rounding the first mild left in each race so far.

Come on guys, if your DR is A to S you shouldn’t be doing that crap. Ridiculous.

Apart from the punting race C combination is great this week. Lots of fun.

That’s the best part about one make races, the only difference in the end are the drivers, and sometimes a little bit of luck/bad luck. :)

Race C is definitely fun, but the punting/revenge punting **** is getting old already. I got taken out the first lap and was last in both races, and both times I got hit into the back of someone in the first couple corners who then spent the rest of the lap trying to get me off the track.

Hopefully the update tonight fixes it.

It would be nice is PD just came out and told you strait up how long you have before it's lights out for server maintenance instead of this cryptic ritual of grossly inaccurate warnings. :dunce:

It went from 6 hours to 2 hours, with increments in between in the time it took me to complete a lap of la Sarthe. Not even my driving is so bad that it takes me 4 hours to do a lap with the Red Bull standard.... even if I was driving on the bare rims of the wheels with no tyres . By the end of the second lap it was 30 mins .

I've done a couple of both Race B & C tonight and I swear, it feels like people are trying to get all the punting and bashing in they can before a possible reinstatement of contact penalties tonight.

I can't wait for them to be banished back whence they came... I did witness some spectacular Forza-esque ***** show this morning, though I suppose it was only funny because I wasn't victimized by it. I've gotten pretty good at predicting the Turn One missile at Nurburgring. Twice in that race I was startled by cars flying past me as I was turning into a hairpin because someone else had intentionally rammed them.
