Note to everyone, not just self. I was at 27k DR yesterday evening after getting 3 6th places in a row in Many on Laguna Seca(played it 3 times because I really like the combo with the 911 Gr. 3) and hoped I would finally get the 3000 points today in the morning, while people are still trying to figure out the track.

I managed a 2:06.1 and started most of the races in top 8 with the Ferrari, but I always seem to find somebody to knock me out of the tarmac. At some point I have started to retaliate, but then I stopped killing my DR. Finished with 23.5K, no more dailies for me this week.

Started practicing the Nations Cup combo and time trial on the manufacturer tracks. After last season with Porsche, I want something a bit less popular and I did not drive many cars until now.

I would have chosen Ferrari, the Group 4 car is a sweet piece of machinery, but the Group 3 car is trying to kill me way more often that I can manage, even with TC2.

Goodwood qualifying is currently bugged and doesn't disqualify your lap for running into the grass after the chicane, I imagine a bunch of times will get deleted later in the week. :dunce:

Naw, people were straight up skipping the chicane when the times got deleted that time. It’s always been fair game to use the grass on the exit though. :)
 
Jumped on and did a few laps in the NSX for race C. Love the cockpit for sector 1, really great visibility vs other cars. 2:05.1 so far with optimal in 2:04’s.

It will need a 1 stop or a lot of fuel saving. Flat out I can go to lap 7. Tried fuel saving but the pit window is so short here it doesn’t make sense least with this car.
Curious what times the no stoppers are pulling. I’m doing 2:05-6 on a 1 stop.

What was your total time on a 1-stop? I just got a 19:13 on a no-stop (RC F). Lap times were average high 2:06 to low 2:07.

I didn’t check, I was doing a private lobby with the race settings. Did a quick spreadsheet and a 19:09.xxx was in range for a 1 stop. Benefit is if you catch that draft the no stopper will be a sitting duck.

The other issue with the no stop, is the potential to get stuck in traffic. Unless you start on pole, but then you have a fun first few laps holding off 1 stoppers. Risky.

I think it also depends at what level you are racing. I made up at least 2 positions from people pitting, and tyre wear wasn't having an effect on my times... my second lap was just as slow as my last lap :lol:.

Yeah it's a bit tricky. 1st and I went for no-stop, 3rd was doing 1-stop. We managed to hold him back for the most part. I passed 1st, but (now) 2nd and 3rd place started fighting on 3rd place's In-lap. 3rd place fell a few places back after pitting, but now had to fight with some no-stoppers, so he couldn't reclaim all of the progress.

The other thing is that if 2nd place hangs back behind 1st place and fuel saves along the way, they'll have enough fuel to complete 1-2 laps on FM 1. 1st place won't be able to do much about it. But still, all of this is assuming you start in the front. Starting in the middle or back is most likely going to be even more painful to deal with.

I personally had an issue with 1-stop; I did a couple test runs before this race came out (458 and RC F), and was getting similar lap times on no-stop and 1-stop. :ouch:
 
Just did a 1 stop butttt my quali time stuck me in 6th and I was much more consistent than the others but just lost tons of time so the pit put me down to 8th no thanks to Beavis pushing me off track calling me a dive bomber ummm no I was alongside you into the braking zone. Idiots have no clue what actual divebombing is.
 
Yay, I finally won a race with manual gears! For so long I've been hopeless at it, but the nature of Race C meant that short-shifting was the only way for me to win. I ended up in the lower bracket of S rank SR after some stupid penalties and general tomfoolery; only 3 other drivers where at the same DR as me. I thought my race was done after getting punted off the road, but as all the cars around me pitted, it didn't matter. For once, my fuel saving tactics actually worked. It was a massive morale booster considering how things have gone over the last few weeks.

You'll probably have to do a 1 stopper with the M4. After they nerfed it, the fuel usage became excessive :rolleyes:.

Race 2. Pure comedy gold! Pre race, the car in 9th tells the car in 8th ,"I'll watch out for punters". What happens at T1? He punts the 8th place car. :lol:

Switched to the Megane, forgot how great this cockpit is. Dropped to a 2:04.391. First race started 2nd and dropped to 3rd. Eventually me and the BRZ passed the pole sitter but BRZ got me.

I stuck close to him waiting for a mistake and conserving my fuel and tires. Then I realize he’s doing a 1 stop and he’s only up 3sec on me. He dropped into the pits and then got to work on the 8sec deficit. I just chilled, 2 laps to go no need to push. Ended 4sec up on him for the win.

EDIT: oof that was rough. Had a easy win in my hands but this kamikaze guy flies into the chicane from 5 car lengths back lol. Giant mess. I got a 2sec penalty and dropped to 8th I think, then while passing two guys battling they lost it and tied me up in it. Didn’t go off. But 4sec penalty. Down to 10th now. Clawed my way back to 3rd and almost had 2nd but didn’t have the fuel.

Should have won with ease, but had some great battles so not a total loss :)

Edit: last one for the night with a win from 2nd. Managed to drop my race time to 19:09 with 2nd putting pressure on me till the end with a gap of 2sec.

Every car was more stable than the Supra. That's how I've moved up all those spots every race.,"Supra Squirrel Bottom". Players fishtailing and/or colliding with other Supras.

Atenza was easy. Stable and good cornering speed.

NSx surprised me. Been a long time since driving one. Thought I'd slide into oblivion.

The GT-R race was tough. A quick room with very little player mistakes. Top end is just silly. Pretty good in the tight corners. First car to beat my First qualy.

Big Lex. Solid performer as expected. Was pretty quick and good grunt mid-corner to corner exit. Brakes are phenomenal. Messed up my qualy. I was up .3(from my GT-R qualy) and touched the brakes at one of the corners towards the end of the lap.

Supra got me into the high 33 second range. Only .2 quicker than GT-R(Big Lex would have been the quickest car for the evening). Had a final lap battle with that R8 for 7th. It was a bit slower and allowed the RSR and other Supra to catch up. We all went into the final lap. I slid a bit into the R8 and let off the gas to recover. This allowed everyone to accelerate on by. Close finish.

Tomorrow will be Nurb GP.
 
Could anyone explain to me the correlation between tyre wear and braking? I know others have mentioned bias makes a contribution but how about the actual application in general. My style is I like to use 75% of the pedal in the immediate braking zone to a gentle trail brake through most corners, I have a hunch this mightn't be good for tyre life.

Any help would be appreciated greatly.
 
I’m sucking at Nurb GP. I haven’t quite figured out if it’s better to save fuel or just drive flat out. Hopefully I can hit the 2:04’s in qualy today, I just could not do it yesterday.

Not sure what car I want to use either. I might try the 86 today, that thing is pretty good on tires iirc.

edit: awd seems pretty handy at this track. Sitting here drinking my coffee trying to figure out how the hell FT_NicoR ran a 2:02.8

I have a tip for anyone struggling with turn one divebombers at Nurburgring GP, or any race in fact.

If you qualify high up and are worried about getting divebombed by guys right behind you, do the following:

1. Accelerate as normal along the straight, looking in your mirror to gauge other cars behaviour before turn 1.

2. If the car(s) behind are right on your bumper, and you think they'll either use you as a brake or completely miss their braking point, hover your finger over the options button as you approach the braking point.

3. Get to the braking point, apply hard braking at your usual reference point for a split second.

4. Do not change down gears. Just press the options button and you'll ghost through turn 1.

5. Watch any divebombers behind you crash into the barriers. Laugh as they do so.

6. Unghost yourself just after the apex and continue to drive to turn 2. You have completed the turn slightly slower than normal. But at least you survived!

I did this yesterday in a Race C after being wiped out at T1 in the previous race. I started on pole, exited turn 1 in P2, and went on to win the race.

I had two races yesterday on NGP. First: Started on Pole and after the first sector everybody was out of my slipstream. Full Flatout, drove 2:06 all the time and on 2:05 in the end. Been pitting and need fuel for 1,7 laps.

The second race was different. Started on the Pole Position and had no chance in the first corner against two RCF.
Then in 3rd always using slipstream and fuel saving with some Short Shifting.
Laps were around high 2:07 and some 2:08. But because of traffic too.
I go to pit after lap 7 like the two boys in front and don't change my tires. Just need some fuel. About 1,3 laps for have enough. Outside the box on first position with a few seconds gap to the RCFs.
Easy way to victory.

I think doing extremely short shifting a 0-stopper is possible in the Megane. Try to it later, if I am starting in the middle in the pack.

Which car is the best for a 0-stopper?

For me. No fuel saving 2:06, with fuel saving 2:08

I've seen people running 2:06s all race on a no stop. I can't get near that (yet). I need to learn the RC F as that seems to be the tool.

I had a couple of nightmares trying to fuel save in cars like the Huracan, which I now know for me just has to be a flat out one stop car and will do consistent 2:06.

Depending on your race I think you need to be able to react to either. Slow traffic is a killer, battling destroys lap time, slipstream off quick cars is a big bonus. I spent most of yesterday getting punted. No stop was the only way to get some clean air/space.
 
I started in the back and midfield twice yesterday on my alt and 1 stopping seemed like the better option rather than saving fuel and constantly battling people. But if you can open a large gap with one or two others from the front I think no stop is best from there.
