Ok, it is official. I am just crap at the races this week. I have had some fun ones, but the others are terrible, and mainly due to my lack of speed. I have been able to recover from incidents most of the time they happen, but more often than not I am just way too slow for my lobby. Time to spend more time on practice to get anywhere near competitive. Oh well. Lap after lap following a good ghost it is.
:crazy:Necessary but ugh:crazy:

Amazing how many people feel they can win daily race C. On T1 L1.
Made worse by a ridiculous penalty system that gives you the penalty when you get hit by a dive bomber.
Last race. T1 I swerved to avoid 3 dive bombers, the fourth one hits me and low and behold I get a 4S penalty.

Edit: 3 races in a row. DR down from 43K to 32K. DR reset on the horizon at this rate.

The Mustang is pretty good but by far most fun was the Megane.
The power...It’s nice to have the power, and tcs mitigates some of the problems with fwd. Great brakes and actually turns pretty good if you have educated delicate throttle input.
I was laughing pulling out on trophy’s Alfa’s and Evos in draft and stealing their inside, plus it has the brakes to make the move stick, it’s weakness is the sweeping right but if you don’t give up the inside on entry you’re good, even if a trophy slips by they’re dead on the straight unless drafting a power car.
It’s a fun challenge to try to harness the fwd with power vs pure rwd handling.

just tried this - lots of fun!

Is the 16’ Lexus any good at race c? It’s the only one I have and I’m too poor (and cheap) to buy anything else..
It's slower than the 16 Nissan but if you get a good run out on the straight it works. I have finished higher than my start in every race with it. I have all the class 2cars but I prefer the 16 Lexus.

Edit: bigger margin for errors down here :)

Does anybody know what that pulsating noise is at Dragon Trail Gardens? It’s driving me crazy

What car are you driving? Does it only when you lift off the throttle? If so, I could just be the blow off valve of the car your using.

This is exactly what you want to see when you exit turn 1 of Fuji :)

Yeah it sounds like drums or something near the bridge. No idea what it is. Maybe need to investigate in photo mode.

Where do you normally hear it? I swear I hear something like this near that quad apex corner.

I think we decided that, on the basis of no evidence, it's some kind of party or club close to the track like you get at (the real) Le Mans.

With that in mind, I call that particular bit of the track "Club Corner".

Exactly.
There is a giant party tent above the track inside of the "Octagon" where the gridgirls go to have free drinks after the race has started.
Hey wait!... was that Kimi I just saw walking in?

Well my racing has been pretty crap this week. I was slowly starting a bit of an upward trend last week, but it looks like I'm flattening the curve this week..

Started off with the karts. That was a lotta fun, but I kinda killed my momentum. Despite that I had a reasonable finish in P7. That was countered by following it up with Race B. I started P6, got clobberd by two Lambos (bloody figures ), finished P11. That was with the M4. It was too late to race last night, but I did some qualy with the rexy, and beat my M4 time. I was still a bit off the pace.

Did a couple of laps before the race tonight, and found myself P13/16 ... but was disconnected before the second screen came up. Re-enterd, did some more qualy, and beat my time by more than a second.. closing in on @Redneckchef :p. That had me starting P3 . There was another rexy in front and a lancer behind. I was doing well, passed the other rexy into second ... then dumped it into the sand on the corner before as @05XR8 refers to the four brothers. I was gutted. I kept going, and found that the guy in front and the guy behind must have screwed up too, cause we finished in the last three positions, with me in the middle. Post race the guy behind me called the guy in front of me a knob. Musta been some frackus, but he passed me cleanly through a corner. I'm not slow, I'm just practising social distancing....... DR/D is just a few races away :odd:.

After racing a few times at Fuji this week, I can't help but thinking Fuji Short without the chicane would be so much better. The chicane causes so many more problems from the moment cars brake for it to hoping/trusting someone doesn't knock you off when you're at the side of them. It ruins track flow too.

I also don't understand why we can't compare Daily Race qualifying times across all regions given it's possible with Time Trials, Circuit Experience etc.

I gotta say, although stuck at home, I had the most fun I’ve had in a long time by ranking BS on NA server.
B race is fun you can use different cars, good racing for the most part.
A S here is kind of a pain tbh. Waaay too serious, I enjoy B more.
High A I can handle a couple but it’s almost too intense for me overall.
Like knowing one slight mistake or failure to cover an opening BOOM lost a spot...
I have one acct for when I want to get in the arena, but for everyday it’s just a bit much for me personally.

Edit I also saw a lot of cars spin. No tcs. People get excited trying to get that exit and punch it too soon. It’s very very tough not to in the heat of battle. Plus it can save you on those big curbs also...

Yeah i am just not fast enough for S lobbies so when i drop to DR-B and SR-A I seem to be in the mix, not winning all the time but in the mix for a podium. Problem i have with S lobbies is the lack of errors, I miss picking up spots from errors!

Well, Race C continues to bring interesting shenanigans, did 2 races already
First one I started in 2nd, passed 1st on Lap 2. Lap 4 we were 3 wide into T1 and I missed my braking point (I was near the pit wall so couldn't see the 150m properly), ended up fairly down the order and then got back up into P5.
2nd race I tried running the Hards first. Made a mistake through the tricky left-hander that is T6 on L1, which dropped me straight down to last. Got up into P11 and met a Russian guy who didn't take being passed too lightly. Punted back to P14 but I caught up to him yet again on Lap 7. He tries to hit me on the side after T6 but I lift and let him be. I go up the inside at the final corner and get alongside him for the straight (no contact), but I was anticipating a sideswipe so I lift off the throttle and sure enough, he turns into me but spins off the front of my car.
Now that I was in clean air, I tried to get a better result on the Mediums, caught up to the cars in 7th and 6th (was around 1.5 away then) and they run each other completely off in T1. Both are very tight on the inside, neither of them managed to stop. Got gifted 6th on the final lap.

Fuji Gr.2

I used to be on your side of the argument with the F1 chicane at Fuji but after countless laps I prefer the chicane as part of the layout. At least with high horsepower cars (Gr.3 & up) it is fun to get on the power (wheels spinning & revs banging) in first or second gear and climb the hill (with Mt. Fuji in the distance) up to the next right hander. Also, it makes for 2 passing spots, the hairpin itself and then up the hill into the right hander.

Jumped on for a quick race from the back at Fuji with an account I've decided to build up, B/A at the moment... I've never experienced such a shocking lobby! Spun around three times by people who take being overtaken as an excuse to use my car as a brake and barrier for the next corner. Nobody out of the 12 drivers I passed could be considered even remotely clean or aware! Funny enough though they were aware when I had a run on them and were quick enough to move over to block! Might just throw a qualy time in there so I get to avoid them after the first turn!

Also tempted to set up a NA account, is it possible to change the location of an existing account or would I have to set up a new one?

Need a new account, but bear in mind it's a breach of PSN Ts&Cs to create an account for a country unless you're either a resident or citizen of that country. Many people ignore this without consequence.
