It's bloody rough around Le Mans, usualy I get caught up in an incident or two at race C's then chill & recover SR over the rest of the race. SR dropping like a rock from a great height, a couple I've deserved for missing brake marker etc but nowt intentional, DR ok tho, ha.
Going with the Porsche tonight, if I can get the slipstream & stay out of trouble it's a handy tool for the job :cheers:

Sometimes in racing you just end up snakebit, and it sucks. Like in that last one, two leaders got tangled up lap 1 so I was through lap 1 into second or third. I’m thinking FINALLY, even after they catch and overtake at least I will have space to drive.
It was extremely frustrating that the guy who put me off was one of those people who HAS TO GET BACK THROUGH IMMEDIATELY lol.
If it was at a track I was good at he would have had another thing coming lol
I’d rather blowoff steam in here than go out and go to their level and arcade ram them.
Still a big fan of GTS :)

Just don't bother passing anybody near the end of the Mulsanne straight. :lol:

Don't worry about it. We all have to vent every once in awhile. I first joined this site so I could vent about the penalty system. I get hit, and then I get the penalty? WTH? And just today, I slide off Indianapolis. Another car slides off and into my side. And even though we're both on the beach, I get a 1 sec. penalty because the system saw him as the car on the inside of that turn that I made contact with. Totally messed up.

Have missed out on the "fun" of Race C this week but will probably run some qualifying laps for K score. Ended up taking the family down to Monterey for a couple of days. In lieu of La Sarthe I got to drive three of my favorite Highways (280, 17, and 1). No penalties, SR-, or punters - quite enjoyable both ways. Thought about stopping by Laguna Seca as well but it was under maintenance Mon/Tues. May end up jumping into one or two this weekend, but sounds very hit/miss with high risk to DR and SR.

Do the cars in Race C normally understeer in the race when compared to quali? Couldn't get a grip with the Nissan in my first race at all while I was feeling comfortable with it in qualifying...

I have a big problem with the dirty air effect. That may be what it is. In practice, the Nissan behaves quite well. But in the race, dirty air makes it upset. Have to drive a bit different. And of course, the cold tires for the first lap+. Something else that isn't felt during practice.
 
I've noticed a difference between the level of tire grip when running qualifying laps (i) through the qualifying only lobby; and (ii) via the race lobby after you have entered and are waiting for matching. The latter (waiting for matching) is much more inline with the race (less grip). Not sure what is going on, but have noticed it on several occasions when jumping from a qualifying lobby to run a race.

It's not even the dirty air, even in clean air I just can't seem to get the front end to bite like I want it to in some corners (Porsche, Maison Blanche, Tetre Rouge)

You two were properly fast out there, how far was that gap to 3rd? lol
 
I have mostly been good for race C this week with minor bumps, but even the 2 dirty drivers I have been with have both caught karma within a lap. Been doing really well with both the 787 and the 962, but they are both very different driving styles. Adapting to the 787 right now. The acceleration is a great weapon though. Started p4 last night and dont know if p3 was napping but I dragged past them down the front straight clear into playstation. Noticed I was able to really out drag the nissans most of the time so my only weakness was the second half of the straight.

Going to miss this combo next week. But kind of excited as there have been some really good ones lately
 
Woow what a great couple of races for me gr1 , did my quali time improve from 3.13 to 3.10 started higher on grid, i finaly did get grip for this daily ...one clean race and 4 place and one almost clean 7 place...i just if on the straight is someone slipstreaming me i let him pas, i dont want to be pushed out of track and they eventuly make mistake and i overtake him, so far as i see rarely hapens that someone drives without mistakes in sr B now i am A we gonna se difference tommorov

I guess to go back to the earlier point about braking...I follow people closely in this game into braking zones every week. Often I can brake later than them and go thru faster but ifI am behind I am behind.
I can’t think of the last time I rear ended a person in any sport moderace tbh that wasn’t a silly revenge.
I always make it a point to feather early and be aware so I guess I don’t buy the idea that it’s the person in fronts fault when the person behind isn’t controlling the speed of their car-even IF the person in front brakes early it’s still the car behind most times that’s at fault.
I think I just take a lot more care than most do to avoid hitting people in braking zones, so it pisses me off more when getting hit.
To me when following a car and not initiating an overtake the focus should be on exit getting a run not trying to enter the turn at the breakneck speed and crashing into the car ahead.
I’ve lost all confidence with this race tbh now that it’s 95 percent Nissan.
I thought no chicane would be better but now I realize I like the race far better with the chicane. Oh well.

Nordschleife is awful for racing imo, sorry but I hate it. Zero runoff area, almost no room to pass, you might as well hold a conga line around the track and pass via slipstream on the big back straight..

It's amazing to race on the Nordschleife. Here's 3 races stitched together, you can pass anywhere

The track is 3 cars wide, wider in some places. Best track in the world!

@KosmoKazi There is indeed a multiplier when your starting SR is below 50. The multiplier goes up to 2.4x at SR.E. Thus the 10 SR you can get when starting at SR 50, becomes 24 SR when starting at SR.E.

FIA races have more laps and are generally worth more SR because total SR per race depends on the number of sectors. The average is 0.35 per sector, this week is stingy with only 0.3 per sector. There have been weeks where it was as high as 0.5 per sector.

The record SR gain in one race stands at 124 SR in one GR.4 race at Tsukaba.
The highest recorded SR loss in one race stands at 190 SR lost in one GR.4 race at Monza.

Should've specified that I meant it for Sport mode. With like-minded people, it's cool to race in there.


...in Sport? I avoid Nordschleife like it's the coronavirus. SR Down city right there, at least for me.

It is, but that doesn't stop the fun. In fact it gave me 58 victories in one week without qualifying, (out of 4 times as many races, Nordschleife is very addictive!) up and down the SR ladder and 4 DR resets.

The only way to keep GTS fun is not to take is serious

But true, I have stopped racing for months because the race quality in sport mode became worse than ever. That's why I prefer tracks that punish bad drivers. Monkey around on the Nord and you don't get far. GR.1 also punishes bad drivers, hence I'm back for Sarthe! Still waiting for GR.C on the Nord in sport mode. (in the dark with rain pls :lol:)

Lots of ignorance tonight. First P1 gets a penalty and I make the pass at the end of mulsanne, thought I'd stay on the inside since most line up outside to setup for the next corner. Nope, pinned me right on the wall and clipped wall edge. He says he was giving me room on the outside but replay says no way.



Then I finally catch up from all of that and P2 brakes super early at indianapolis and punt him to the side. I wait it out for what seems like an iternity, and he creams me. Nice. In chat he totally thought it was intentional. lol


Race felt super comfortable though. Have little problems with any areas. Mulsanne corner can be difficult gearing down with wheels turned can get squirrely.
 
I raced some more this evening/night 'to get my SR back up'. The races were great, the penalty system its usual self. I started at 71 SR, nothing but great races, ended at 46 SR :lol: If you get bump drafted, it costs 10 SR again.

Any chance of SR gain is usually gone 10 seconds into the race. I'm starting in the back no quali, but never actually last. So 80% chance to get bumped from behind while avoiding the car in front. Thus the most to be gained from the rest of the race is -1 SR. One more time getting bumped, -11 SR for the race. Oh well, I'm at 35K DR, I wouldn't mind it to be reset. Start further back and lower incorrect penalties.

I put some clips together how to pass the R92CP in the 787B. There are other places to out accelerate them but Mulsanne is my favorite.

At the end, out accelerating a 787B by not shifting. All with that lovely engine sound.
