2 tries at Race B yesterday, saw Groundfish in both, almost beat Groundfish in one, passed him on a penalty but couldn't hold. :(

Both decent races but unsatisfying DR for the effort. Competition at Seaside is tough. I'm over 2 seconds below my target time and still starting near the back.

+ 1 race this morning. Started 4th this time. Finished a very lonely 3rd. Zero points.

I noticed that as well... very closely bunched fields in the Daily Race B's at DTS, as the week moves on. Stands to reason, but for sure very competitive. You're basically going to be fighting with the car in front and behind, so +/- 1 from your starting position is what's likely, save for the shadow-realmers who get the COD wrong...

But I love racing at that track... It's really fun and the TT is a joy to drive there.

I think for myself, I’ve put soooo soooo sooo much time and effort studying books, practicing laps, etc.
I post all the time about revenge true, however if no one breaches etiquette no one gets touched.
I come from a culture that maintains itself the same way. We all in this community have a resource we share (fun races)
When a person chooses to act in a fashion that is A. In breach of proper racing which B. is really an offense against the entire community of Gran Turismo, which C. pisses me off I’m gonna introduce them to Dr. Brakencheckin, or Mr Hasselhoff, or professor Wall who is a fellow at the crash institute.
It’s the right thing to do.
Now I wanna qualify this by saying if a person does not know racing etiquette they should stay passive because most likely they have something to do with the cause of the incident.
Remaining passive gives cheaters positive reinforcement, causes mental anguish to the victim.
IRL drivers who breach racing etiquette get stuffed I see no reason it should be different in game.
Imo it’s not taking the moral high ground (just bending over)
That’s the moral low ground imo.

All that being said the more I race this pen system the more I think it’s the best it’s been in a long long time.

Agreed except for the last sentence haha. It's the side contact that the penalty system doesn't act on that causes the wrong positive reinforcement. Dive a nose on the inside in the corner and push the other car out of the track, using the outside car as a rail to make the corner. Parabolica and Ascari are terrible for that. Basically you have to be on an inside line into Ascari (very bad for flow through there) when there is a car within 0.25 sec behind you... Same for Parabolica although an inside line isn't as bad there.

The front back contact penalties rely too much on DR difference, but true, qualify well and keep your DR/SR high you should have less trouble with DR discrimination. Which also helps against the BS penalties for cars losing control at corner exit and touching your car delivering you a penalty.

Then you have the SR tally which is completely out of whack. -12 SR for a lag front back contact without any noticeable difference. +100 SR for a FIA race vs +5 SR for a more dangerous sprint race.

It's only the best it's been in a while since it has been even worse for a long time :( But still so so far away from last year. Perhaps PD is trying to deflate DR a bit with all the resets

Anyway the up down system is creating more interesting races for me from the back. Instead of racing (and annoying) the same people over and over, every race has up to 80% new drivers instead of 80% the same in repeat races 👍

@Sven Jurgens
One reason I like it is that it’s cleaned up I’d say 50 percent of drivers from the A S dirty squad. There’s a bunch of those midpack A guys that always raced together and I haven’t seen them lately.
Like @sturk0167 said about people liking dirty racing I think that’s them and now they are suddenly absent.
(I’m talking known repeat offenders)
I got SCMODS

Oh it definitely shuffled all the players around. It's indeed much better not to start every race with picking out 5 known drivers that will cause trouble :) There are also more 'clean' drivers in the lower SR ranks who fell victim of racing. More fun with a new grid mix every race. It would be more fun to see them all together in an DR.A SR.B room, but mixing them around does help out the top end. It is true that after I manage to 'emerge' from the back, the front is behaving better nowadays. Exceptions as usual, but overall, top 5 is mostly clean.

14:30 - THE KIE SHAMEWAGON

View attachment 947093

Started 3rd behind an AMG and a Vantage. Got an SR down at the first corner because there were other cars there. On lap 3 I went too deep at turn 1 because someone knocked the 150 board away. The AMG fell away after the pitstops, I passed the Vantage during the pitstops. I was saving more fuel than anyone else. I was saving fuel. Won, fastest lap was 1:49.177 (on hards). DR up to 16.3K, SR 31>41.

15:00 - THE RJN GT-R #22 aka THE OUTLAWQUADRANTMOBILE

View attachment 947094

Started 2nd behind a Vantage. All going well until I passed them on lap 3. They didn't brake in time for the second chicane, I got 4 seconds for hitting them mid-corner. Also over-shot the first chicane after I pitted, going down to 4th after being reset. Some stuff happened over the last few laps and I took the lead on the last lap at the first chicane. I hit one of the leaders who got reset mid-corner, whereas I'd been reset about 50m before. Won, fastest lap was 1:48.675 (on hards, with slip). DR up to 17.4k, SR 41>47.

15:30 - THE R35 TOURING CAR FROM GT5

View attachment 947095

Started 2nd behind a Vantage. Finished 2nd behind a Vantage. In every race I've run 6M/4H and I always seem to get paired with someone around or in front of me who starts on hards. I was quite happy to stay behind them in the opening laps which was obviously a mistake, but that doesn't explain why he was going defensive a lot. Still, a first clean race and I beat some A rated drivers. Fastest lap was 1:48.975 (on mediums). DR up to 18.6k, SR 47>61.

16:30 - THE PENNZOIL GT-R

View attachment 947096

Skipped a session and got my qualifying time down to 1:47.240. Started 2nd behind a GT-R with 2 bars and ahead of a Vantage with 1. The GT-R let me past at turn 1 and I ran away. Fastest lap was 1:49.108 (on mediums). I think I lost my clean race bonus going wide on the exit of Ascari a few times. DR up to 20.1k, DR 61>72.

Hey guys, when I start on pole (on races with a flying start) the guy behind me always gets a much better start than me and nearly catches me when we arrive at the first corner, am I doing something wrong or is it always like that? My traction control is on 0 when I start a race and I use automatic gear shifting btw.

3-2-1 start and shift immediately for most cars. MT must, tcs 0
You may change your line to get rid of him out of your your slipstream. One time to be clean.

-Try to use MT (manual transmission). Might take a while to get used to it from AT (automatic), but the benefits are inmeasurable. You get much better car control as you can upshift whenever you want (useful for saving fuel, getting the most out of the car; which I will touch on later), and downshift whenever you want (useful for rotating the car and getting it stopped quicker in some instances).

-TCS 0 on a rolling start is fine as you are already going, car's got traction.

-Touching on the fact that you can get the most out of the car performance wise, once you get used to the MT you should go to the Car Settings tab in the pre-race screen, or in the garage. Scroll down to the Power Ratio % and you will see a graph of horsepower and torque in the right side of the screen. This will tell you how far out you have to rev your car in order to get the most out of it; most cars can go to almost the limiter but some others, like the diesel Audi R18 '16, have the power peak a good while before the limiter. This will allow you to get higher speeds on a straight as the automatic shifts right when you get to redline if I am not mistaken. :)👍

Race C- Didn't realize the fuel strategy, and didn't realize how fast the ford gt can absolutely chug the fuel back. Lap 4 out of fuel, and no one pitted ,add that with a punt losing 10 places into last place......and exit

I noticed the fuel thing last night too. I used the Corvette, which felt really good around Monza, but I had to use Fuel Map 2 for much of the race in order to get 5 laps out of it. It's not something I typically have to look after, so I kind of liked that it became an element of this race.

The AMG will go about 5.8 laps on fuel at FM 1. At least, with auto trans.

Well, something I've observed with Race B this week, it's a lot less fun when I'm in A/A+ lobbies. In those lobbies, my presence on the track might as well not exist. I've been forced wide, shoved and worst case, pushed off. While not exactly malicious driving, it's tactical dirty and on average, I see many more end races with a red SR. In one of those lobbies, it was satisfying to finish with the fastest lap despite ending 14th after being pushed off into the sand.

When I dropped to SR A, I had some great racing with DR Bs and Cs who exhibited better racecraft and weren't trying to shove or force me wide every time. Some things in this game are simply backwards.

Of course there are plenty of exceptions, but I've found that nastiest people to race with are usually A/S.
B, C & D/S people are usually cool. They normally aren't so motivated by DR, that they want to cut your throat for it. The A+ people I encounter are typically well-mannered too.

I’m using auto trans so no short-shifting. Good to know about the AMG. The Lexus also comfortably did 5 laps, so sounds similar to the AMG. Corvette was faster for me, but just used a lot more fuel.

good times

Well going with the theme of revenge, after 576 races. I just took out my first revenge.

So I gave him a good punt next turn, taking a 2 second penalty. The pack caught me as I severed it and I politely got out of the way the best I could.

But worth the 5 spots I lost....? worth not saying I never have anymore....? IDK

If you're going to take revenge, then you accept the penalty that comes with it. But, if you are going to take a penalty for revenge, take a penalty!!!!

people that block following the CoD after they go slow through it can kiss the fattest part of my ass

Honest question here, do you really think any type of lesson was learned using revenge tactics? For me personally i would remember the name of the person and make sure i see them the next race. I cant imagine revenge punting taught anyone anything. Whats the old saying, 2 wrongs dont make a right?!!?

From my point of view, if there is clear malicious intent for someone to punt/block/swerve into me, then these bullies need a taste of their own medicine. Notice a few pages ago how one Subaru was crashing into other cars & finally got into the lead? He got his clock cleaned by me from the race before. If someone has no skill & wants GTS to become Wreckfest, I'll send them on a Hellride.

Short and sweet.
It seemed like my magical run of luck on b race ended tonight when I was bombed a bit into t1 by a (did you need to ask?) AUDI TT!
I was outraged and outdid myself the next lap by muffing a punt attempt turn one, I just wanted to put him deep and get through but I put him right into my own path and then had to keep banging him because temporary insanity.
7 seconds in pens from 99 to b.
I didn’t quit though, first race at B I didn’t get crb but went to a where I was viciously punted turn 1 next race....
I deserved 100 percent to go to b.
I kept racing and I believe Im back to low s now but it was touch and go.
The Ferrari has been used exclusively and I’ve still not gotten spun or run off.
The Ferrari is great st this race. It’s strengths are ff weaknesses...
My last two races in a a were great. Back to s. Shared the last one.
I do love the pen system now maybe more than yesterday. Racing has improved.

Seems like you're getting flashed by the Audi TTs a lot, man. They seem to think they're racing in the 90s BTCC while clearly it's not the case .
