There's some serious server issues. I've had "Game Error" blue screen twice this week and many people disconnected

First race I did today had people disappearing all through the race. It didn't look like rage quits, no yellow flags or penalties, just poof another one gone. Luckily I was spared today, however my easy victories were taken by @astrarobotica Great racing! Easy 2nd places haha.

NGP is such a stressful circuit. I cannot for my life get a decent qualifying time. Stuck at high 1:46 and I'm struggling to figure out what's costing me almost six seconds on the aliens. I mean, I'm not good at this game, but usually I'm only six seconds behind on tracks that are longer than this.

I have found that when I go for a Sunday drive on a track I tend to get my best times lol what I mean by that is don't try just let it come to me, the harder I try the slower the time and more mistakes I make.

I took the older Toyota (030 or 040, can't remember) out for a Free Practice run, and while the understeer because of the hybrid system is a bit more noticeable (think 919, R18), and inefficient, it is just as good of a car as the 050.

While I know GTS is not the best interpretation of actual race cars, but how perfect the modern prototypes handle in the game, I worry about the WEC hypercar rules.

I have found that when I go for a Sunday drive on a track I tend to get my best times lol what I mean by that is don't try just let it come to me, the harder I try the slower the time and more mistakes I make.

Time seems to slip by quicker. Next thing you know, you've just done a 10-15+ lap stint. Especially in the Dailies Free Practice mode where you're not seeing tire or fuel effects.

last time out with this combo i used MERC and JAG always ran in top 5 A/S

It is one of my better tracks, always has been as it suits my point and squirt style. I am VERY uncomfortable in Group 1 cars and run a titch under 1.43.

For NGP there are three key tips;
a) Brake a bit early, square up the corner and hammer out on exits, there are 3 to 4 VERY similar corners that all rely or big, big exits asap on full gas
b) Run hard and fast over the last chicane, hitting the bollards and on full gas as you land back after running the kerb
c) At the end of the 3rd sector, after the high speed S there is an awkward left followed by an awkward right onto the looooong back straight. You must swing hard to the left to give the best angle to the right hander and get on full gas as early as possible, don't enter too fast, do whatever it takes to get on full gas even before the apex

Guarantee you find 2 seconds.

I'm quite intrigued to find out what kind of N200 car is gonna be the one-make for next week's C race. I hope it's rear-wheel drive.
It's a pretty unusual category for race C.

Loving the mix of cars at Suzuka, good to see no meta's. I've stuck with the Mustang all week, if it isn't broke don't fix it, ha.
I think Moto GP on the PS2 is where I 1st started circulating around Suzuka. Not much has changed, I'm still finding new ways to leave the track

As many of us are from all over I found this pop up while doing the cleaning. Thought it was good to have someone else mention the wide variation in driving styles, and how some of it is definitely defined by region.

I agree! I'll always take close racing over poor matchmaking. But I'll still take it as a victory if I felt like I drove consistently to the best of my ability.

I just had a 9:30pm race (assuming near peak time for Friday night) where I was within one second of the car in P2 for the entire race, and on the last lap their tyres started going, they took the kerb on the uphill section too hard, hit the sand on the other side, flew back across the track and disappeared, presumably into a barrier.

I've never been so evenly matched with someone, and I've never driven so consistently in this game or any sim. I finished P2 and it was way more rewarding than those easy wins this morning.

Interesting race B this morning. Started P3, behind a German and a Finnish driver. Noticed a change of cars in P4 on T1, assumed it was down to clean driving.

Now had a German behind me in P4, who punted me off. I'm down to last and basically just planning to get to the end of the race.

But said German wasn't done. He then took out the Finnish driver and then his compatriot. To take the win.

Drivers who will win in this manner, are truly off putting. How do you even enjoy racing if your version of an overtake is to wipe out your opponents...

Unless I'm being rocket launched to the moon at full throttle, I have found it very affective to, when bumped hard enough to look like I'm going off track, get down to first gear and be on the brakes this has saved me many times from loosing to many places, and as soon as possible back up the gears and in to the chase.

A - Blue Moon Field Infield A - N200 (car unknown)*

B - Spa - Gr. 4

C - Autopolis - N200 (car unknown)**

* Possible car for Race A could be Mini Cooper '05, as this combination happened a few months ago.

** A while ago, there was a Daily C Race (N200) at Autopolis with the Toyota 86 GT. The tire and fuel multipliers look the same as last time, so it could be the same exact combination that we are getting next week for Race C. If this is the case, then this is an easy no stop; adjust brake balance to even out tire wear, and go all out.

Dive bomber three times in Race A, all got me an SR down & 2 penalties.

DR reset from 22,000 to 7,000!

Fix the penalties PD!

EDIT: 2 races later, same again, another reset to DR 3,000 & SR 1!

at this point I might as well just “play the system” and divebomb like all the a-holes that keep hitting me

So this will sound odd coming from me (a driver who has a hard time being really competitive within these crazy races) but I have noticed that I would practice, practice, practice and would still find myself 5-10 seconds away from the top ten. Why race if I can't be really competitive? The top ten are mainly S/A+ DR drivers that I would probably never compete in the race against anyways. Sure some lower level DR drivers slip into the top ten but more often than not it is an S/A+ list. If you are one of those driver's, sorry but what is below still is valid.

You can only get better with practice, take these races as a practice opportunity. Just like running the AI races as practice, these online races help with track space management (my big problem because I hate racing in a crowd), race line management (easy to perfect on your own but what if someone screws up your line? Another of my problems), and stupid racing (AI cars can be predictable at times, crazy people cannot). Go to Discovery and see if you can download a few past races, watch them and see what the winners did. That often helps me. Friends on here have ran the tracks for me and sent me their replays.

I would not race them just because you think you are not competitive, race them to learn from them and eventually you will get better (Yes Kermit I did hear your good advice).

Just my thought why you SHOULD race, even if you are mid to end of the pack.

Thanks for your opinion, i am almost A dr rating and i dont want to lose dr if i am not top half finishing....the others in race are all B or A with safety S. Times all of them are close 2.0.00 or faster i just cant get one lap without minor mistakes...

Work on getting laps without mistakes first. Most of my good results have come from not making any mistakes rather than driving so much faster than everyone else. Especially on Suzuka there are so many medium to fast corners and long straights that even small mistakes make for big gaps to be exploited.

People go off all the time in Degner and Spoon, and they often blow it in the Casio Triangle as well and if you're ready behind them you can either advance or close the gap even in a short race like the current daily.

I'm around 3-4 seconds off the top-10 pace for any given race (dailies and FIA both) with a B rating, but that doesn't stop me having fun in races because I'm pitted against fairly evenly matched drivers consistently.

Meh, I'd just race. I've tracks I'm good and bad at. DR usually balances out over time and I don't think it should hold you back from racing unless you really despise or not find a track enjoyable.

If I always avoid racing tracks I'm bad at, I don't improve. I used to avoid Mount Panorama because I could never get the downhill area right but I eventually practiced and joined races (I guess I can thank the switch to weekly races for this) despite my below average qualifying time and now it's one of my favourite tracks. My race times there gradually became faster along the way.

You're not going to improve by worrying about your DR. Unless you're one of the top S-rated drivers there's always a chance you're going to get matched with a majority of drivers who are faster than you.

Consistency is more important than worrying about your lap times. You can't work backwards from making mistakes. Meaning you can't improve if you're driving over the limit. You have to drive comfortably under the limit and slowly work your way toward it. If you find yourself going off at a certain corner frequently then you're probably just guessing how to take it, but you have to know how you can take it without messing up.

Go into qualifying and just drive as slowly as you need to so that you don't make mistakes. Don't drive like you're playing a game, drive as if you're in real life and someone let you take the car out on track. In real life, you would hopefully be very careful not to crash the expensive race car, drive with that mindset. You have to know that you are within the limit, you can't just hope and guess.

Could not agree more. When I started I drove like I stole it. After running at top speed but making consistent mistakes at every corner I realized that consistent good driving skills improved my times. I still have more to learn but my lap times are improving and will happen with Tomaz Korosec.

I'm B DR, have a QT of 2:02.xxx, 5 races this afternoon, 5 podiums including 2 wins - give it a go, if you can keep it on track you'll make up places.

Haven't raced for a few day due to illness but now I'm back jumped in to race A and screwed it up from start to finish, oh boy lots of repairing to do
