Maybe in GTS world, but IRL, the Pony is always ahead.![]()
Late yesterday evening I ran a race C here in EMEA. I qualified just ahead of a guy announcing his YouTube channel in pre race chat. Nothing wrong with that in my book.
I had a pretty bad starting lap, got dinged and sideswiped by a couple of others and lost what I gained.
So, I am at p17 and this guy comes up behind me, spends almost a lap flashing his headlights at me in both curves and straights.
Then in the long slow lefthander leading towards the straight he comes up my inside and I have to admit to, by mistake, turning into him. I instantly turned out again, he dinged me once after that, I got a 2 second collision penalty, as I should. It didn't affect any of us but it was wrong doing so deserve the penalty.
Now, for the rest of the lap up to the PZ he STILL kept flashing me.
Now, I realize that excessive flashing could be default buttons and a worn controller but that doesn't account for the flashing on straights.
And it's kind of getting under my skin, as if does he believe I will just pull over for him?
So I go into full defense mode.
This is slowing us both down but I really don't care as p17.
So my question to you guys are this: is my defense legit? Not moving in brake zones, only once changing position on a straight twice.
Movie at 11 for you judgement.
It might be dumb but is it legal?
Thank you. I know it's extremely frustrating to. Be behind someone doing defense, and if he shared the race on YouTube I am sure he had some choice words about me. But I think he did it all wrong, he should have fallen a little behind, maybe two car lengths so he could get a run. Being right behind me makes it impossible to act, he can only react. In my view that was solid defensive driving. Very frustrating to be stuck behind, but nothing wrong with it. No late moves, no swerving. Bumping the guy off was an issue, but it is still his job to get past. I can understand him being frustrated, but he needs to be able to set up the pass, not just panic and frantically swerve at everything.
If they only flash in corners it's likely a ds4 driver getting eager and pressing the left stick down as well as steering. That flashes...All the flashing I see seriously peeves me. You flash your lights in two situations: when someone does something dangerous in front or when a lapped car isn't respecting the blue flag.
"I wanna get past you" is not a valid reason to flash your lights. Everyone wants to get past the car in front of them, it's called racing!
I suspect lots of people are doing it to psych others out in corners which is scummy. So I tune it out as much as I can.
NO! It's supposed to be a Corvette Summer after this last BoP! Gr.3 and 4 'Vettes are Beasts!!![]()

Without being a douche, 2.34 means you are fundamentally struggling.
I never bumped him off, I just tapped him sideways and got one back. No one went off, no one was affected in race.Bumping the guy off was an issue, but it is still his job to get past.
Have anyone experience a game freeze during a race? I encountered this last night. I messed up on a turn. I wouldn’t been too bad. When I recovered, my game froze like I was about to DC. It snapped out of it like 10 seconds later. I ended up quitting because I was in the back with so much gap and half the race was done. Here’s the video. You won’t see the freeze but will notice the time loss:
One thing that has an outsized effect on the car's behaviour is brake balance. Changing it forward or backward will obviously change how the car brakes and behaves under trail braking, but it also affects cornering ability even when not touching the brake pedal. No, you're definitely right. I'm following the lines of the top 10 ghosts as well as I can, and I can't seem to even remotely keep up. Something about my driving is fundamentally messed up.
If I set a PB today I might upload it to Youtube and post it here.

Especially in Daily Races... it's BS to expect someone to get out of your way in a sprint race. If you don't want to be behind me, because you think you are either entitled to my position because you're faster, then qualify ahead of me for a 10 or 20 minute race. You've no right to my position, even if you ended up off track for some reason other than me knocking you off. So cut it out with the headlight flashing and make a fair pass. Or go race in a lobby where strategy reasons might legitimately present a situation where I'd be inclined to accept the request to get by. But in a Daily Race, beg off.All the flashing I see seriously peeves me. i know from experience that a lot of controller users the hi beam flash is set on the left joy stick which is what you steer with (default setting) I know I used to flash people inadvertently by pressing on the stick when turning . I am sure some of this is from that. I changed the setting so people would stop saying ( stop flashing me) . now on a wheel so not an issue........Especially in Daily Races... it's BS to expect someone to get out of your way in a sprint race. And goes for the people who choose to start without a QT 'for the fun of it'. That fun includes passing people fairly, not expecting them to concede a position just because you started behind.
or you can be like me and practice, practice, practice, and when you think you have got it practice some more nothing beats track time. ohh and did i mention practice some more...One thing that has an outsized effect on the car's behaviour is brake balance. It's super weird! Flat-out or lift-only corners are easier if you change the BB from 0 which shouldn't happen.
Also finding a car to suit your driving helps. FF cars are often in the top-10 but I can't drive them to save my life for example.
A good place to start is to look at sector times, see where you're really suffering and work on that sector first. You're probably not that far behind on sector 1, so don't worry about La Source before you figure out Pouhon.
saw you in room last night at 5;30 race. start at spa is terrible race is still boring i think 1 thru 10 no change in position. Its disappointing because i like spa. maybe grid start would be better...Hi people.
I'll drive the Lancer at Spa.
I wish a challenge, not a boring race
or one further up the grid swerves into you as your going by the false starter and you get a contact penalty 5 seconds into the race that is especially funI am surprised how many people can't figure out the grid start with false start. This week, I've done about 7 or 8 C races.
In one race, 2 people false started. In every other one, it was at least 3.
It's a pretty nice thing, when you're starting at the back. You just have to be ready to immediately swerve around some people.
Aside from the divebomb/turn in contact that you mentioned (camera angle isn't the best but I judge it mutual fault) everything looks fine to me, trailing driver should spend more time learning to overtake rather than losing control because of smashing the flashers. It might be dumb but is it legal?
Yeah Corvettes are easy to drive even with 2 TC. I had to bring to 5 for the Ferrari Gr.3 and 919 though.Man 4 races last night, 2 clean and 2 with 0.5 second penalties and my SR went from 45 to 56. Like really?? I went from 90 to 45 with like three penalties, it's crazy.
First thing first, are yo using traction control? If not, set it to 2 and start from there. Yes it is ultimately faster to not use it but you gotta start somewhere. Or use the GTR, it's AWD so doesn't need TC.
top using ghosts as they are discouraging, you're watching the very best. Turn on racing line and cones, brake at the marker cones to learn where you should throw the anchor out. Braking at the right time and no traction issues should see you run a 32.
Again, not being a douche and I am hardly captain fast, but it cannot be fun doing 34's and I clearly remember my first 20 days on this game I was absolutely lost, had zero pace, last every damn time.

Thanks for taking time to look and comment. I think initial contact is all on me, I am ahead coming in to the turn, slows a little and tightens to get a good exit and at the same time he stuck his nose in there, so he had partial overlap and I didn't leave enough space (not paying enough attention) so that's on me. I thought for sure he would be pass me before or at least in the penalty zone, but since he didn't I went in defense. Partial because I was annoyed, partial to practice my defense.Aside from the divebomb/turn in contact that you mentioned (camera angle isn't the best but I judge it mutual fault) everything looks fine to me, trailing driver should spend more time learning to overtake rather than losing control because of smashing the flashers.
Yeah like I said the replay camera angle is not the best for determining fault but you seem to be on a defensive line and the other driver still chucked it up the absolute inside rather than taking the fast line through and passing on the straight. Thanks for taking time to look and comment.
