Well that wasn't the C race I was hoping for. A couple jokers in front of me couldn't decide who could hit who hardest while still staying on track during the first few laps. Finally got by them, and the next car goes off track, comes back on 90% right in front of me. I hit him, we both go off, and I get a 2 sec. penalty. For him being 90% to the track? Ended up P8 out of 11. Only lost 24 DR, thankfully.

Ran a race C, clean crowd, one slightly pushy driver. I let him by (he was faster than me anyway) and finished 4th or 5th. Enjoyable race for that, but spent most of the race in a gap between faster drivers ahead and slower behind. First lap and half was fun though as I didn't have time to set a qualifying time and started 2nd last.

Race A, also clean, also occupying a gap between faster and slower drivers, but binned Dunlop on the first two laps. P8 > P8. Can't afford to lose concentration in that race at all or I'm off track, despite how slowly everything seems to happen in that car.

My experience, in the US, is that the racing earlier in the week is cleaner, but as the week goes on, you get more and more people who trip their way into a faster qualifying time, and then cause all kinds of hell up front in the Dailies.

Me, if I put in a qualifying time, you can be sure I can run close to those times repetitively and control my race car at speed in the Daily Race. But there are too many, including some Senna wannabes that are so inconsistent corner to corner that they ruin the racing in Dailies (you know the ones... they barrel into each corner out of control, go off on the exit, they ride your bumper only to bin it the corner after you let them by (in order to avoid trouble), and then repeat the process by the end of the next lap). This is more and more the case all week as more people are able to post a QT that is better than their actual skill.

Got my 26th win in a good race at Willow:

Also shoutout to this guy who thought I crashed him when in reality, he had worn fronts and understeered out. After we pitted, he decides to catch me and wreck me.

Later I catch up to him due to him serving his penalty. On the home straight, I was behind him, contemplating revenge as he kept swerving to make sure I didn’t pass him. We get to T1 so I moved on the outside since he was on the inside...well he decided that revenge for me when he moved to my lane under braking and braked again, making me send him for a long punt and I didn’t hit him that hard lol. Here’s the video:

I like the livery! Lifelong fan, been through all the heartbreaks since 1980 with those guys...

I might get to see some of that, I'm currently running dailies on my alt (US account) to preserve my main for FIA.

What's the name on your alt. So I don't 'accidentally' run into you. Much like I wanted to an idiot my last race. Megatrone had a hard time with him. He then put me off, and I watched him push several others off to claim 4th. I hate racing with (words I can't use here).

And slightly off topic. Is there any significance to the number they assign to your car? And further off, who uses headsets, and what brand do you recommend? Is there a thread for that subject here?

Yeah I saw that in my rear view. If he came close to me, I would have wrecked him for you.

Edit: Also won another race due to someone missing hards

SimTully, I was in @Trone_Colby 's last race, not sure if you were too. I haven't qalified and started last, finished 14th. Might have been tenth if not for at least one deliberate and a couple of other punts/sideswipes.

Door number. Take the DR scores of drivers in the race, sort them by reverse aplhabetical order, number the resulting list. This means a D driver with a DR score of 9 will have a lower door number than a C driver with DR 9900 and likewise the C driver will have a lower door number than an A+ driver with a DR 93,000 (if there are any yet). DR B and above, the door numbers will accurately reflect relative DR scores. If there's C or D rivers in the lobby all bets are off.

Headset: I'm a "cheap but functional" philosophy. On controller I use a $12 Verbatim "pc headset". Using the wheel which doesn't have a 3.5mm socket I use a Logitech USB "pc headset" that cost me $50. Both work fine.

Not that race, but just in the 9:30 EST with -trone. MegaTrone, if you're reading, You did not deserve that 4 sec. penalty. It was the Brazilian behind you that knocked nojm60 off.

And re: door numbers. Guess that #2 I had yesterday wasn't a good thing. I don't usually pay attention to them though, so... I'll keep looking for headsets. Joined with the Geezers league last Sat., and apparently headsets are where the party is.

I tried to catch him to 'talk ' to him the last couple laps. Couldn't quite get there. I'm OK in the front section, but getting up, around, and down the hill in back are my problem areas.

A lot. I can definitely tell the difference in braking. Money well spent in my opinion. The spring is strong even when I’m using the lighest one.

When I ‘upgraded’ to my secondhand lc brake I gotta agree, not only did I get faster, but my overall control and appreciation of the games physics (also made dr and dr2 much more fun) and enjoyment increased quite a bit too!
Good to hear good experience had from upgrading equipment.
I agree, upgraded gear in general seems expensive but imo soooo worth it!
Cheers man!

I did upgrade from T150/TP3A standard to T300/T-LCM back in April. Yes some practice and Big Willow always been a strong track for me.

I'm much the same with upgrades that have made a difference. I couldn't find anyone with the TP3A's or T-LCM's in stock, so I went wild and completely upgraded to the Fanatec CSL Elite wheel and Clubsport V3 pedals. A world of diff. I had (have for sale. Anyone?) the Trustmaster T300 with the basic two pedals. The brake wasn't cutting it. Even without the brake performance kit, the V3 brakes have a much better feel.

They just helped me to my first podium finish. 3rd in last race for me today. Actually, the two people in front of me didn't get the memo about the mandatory tire change, so they helped me to the podium.

And as I just discovered, I jumped up into 'B' territory. Now is when I start getting nervous.

C to B is a very hard jump, or it was for me, but if you keep at it awareness increases and you get used to the pace.

Totally agree about that. That’s what I had before. Plus after upgrading I found the other games like dirt rally SOOOO MUCH more enjoyable.

Highly recommend the Fanatec Brake Performance Kit for your V3's... Pedal travel was a bit long/mushy before and was having trouble with consistent trail braking. Switching to the 2 green 13mm plugs in the kit made a world of difference. Recommendations are: (i) 2 green 13mm plugs from the Performance Kit for the brake cylinder, (ii) switch the Clutch and Gas Pedal springs to the stronger ones, and (iii) if desired add the hydraulic damper on a very low setting to the gas pedal to smooth it out a bit (no need for it on brake if using Performance Kit).

My hard jump was D to C. One, I didn't know the system. Two, I tried to hard to stay clean that I didn't try to fight. My first few weeks DR profile history looks like a yo-yo. Then came LeMans. Now here. Gained about 5800 points the last 3 days. Now I think it'll slow down and take perseverance.

But the good news. I bought the TT Cup this morning, and just now in practice I almost broke into the 15's. With BoP & RM, of course.16.039 to be exact. (Auto trannie isn't really auto, is it) And yes, Grandpa. I also bought the 650. That's going to take more practice to figure out.

Good time! I think my m4 time on my leaderboard account is 16.1.
The m4 is s serious weapon there too if you can smooth it.
It’s got the cojones to take the tt on the straights if you nail the lines.
I’ve been no stopping it from the back.

You guys are making me want to upgrade, even though I bought my G29 only two months ago...

Can't anyone come in and say their fancy gear is trash, help me out here :D
I've an AXC TrueBrake mod reading to install on my G29... hoping that it will be a nice upgrade on the braking control. A good friend has upgraded his earlier this summer and recommended it.

Just waiting to install it when I know I can get in some decent time to adjust to it without slowing down during the FIA season.

Sorry, no can do. But if it's any consolation, I only had the T-Master rig for 3 months.

And suffering with that 1 sec. penalty? I'll check out the m4. I think I tired most of the Gr. 4's last weekend when this combo was announced. Only a few laps each. Can't remember what the m4 did. Have to dust it off and try again, though I do have to say I make my picks not just on good times, but good feel. The VW, Viper, Cayman, and Megane topped the list. Now the TT. I'll race that next, but not till tomorrow AM. I fall apart in all ways after lunchtime through the evening. My best hours are the mornings.

Going to have to try a couple super clean races then run away for a while. This is pretty much how most of my races started last night.

Tried to save one where driving on the straight a lambo got a wheel on the sand and spun 90degrees hard right straight into me and launched me to dead last from p5. I was in a D lobby and was then starting lap 2 just about 29 seconds out of the lead and 9 behind next car in front of me. But I missed pressing the button.
