You guys are making me want to upgrade, even though I bought my G29 only two months ago... Can't anyone come in and say their fancy gear is trash, help me out here :D

Disclosure: Given the amount of lockdown time, I splurged on a nice setup. The gear is far better than I am.

Fanatec firmware has some issues... been having trouble with my wheelbase randomly freaking out. Sometimes it's the shifters (locks itself into a gear), other times it's a pedal that goes crazy (sticks on full throttle or full brake). Have to turn the power off and reset it... sucks when it happens in the middle of a race.

Not what I wanted to hear, but thanks for the heads up. Works fine so far, but only had it about 10 days.

The magnetic paddle mod has made my g29 feel so much better. The stock paddles are like clicking a mouse. Having the paddles snap back to the magnet with a firm snap sound is awesome. Once i get the formula or gt rim from mvhstudios it wont even seem like the g29.

@suprajef
I'm mostly doing A race at Suzuka, couple of B's then a C or two depending on SR.
I enjoy all 3 tracks this week but Suzuka is giving me my best results

Nice thing about the G29, no firmware gremlins 👍... bad thing about the G29... no firmware updates 👎

Don’t put too much on it. You can still be fast with a g29. @Mistah_MCA plays with a g29.

It depends on the person. I can’t play on the controller worth jack lol
Oh I know. Back when I started simracing one of the fastest guys in the league I was in drove with a joystick. I don't know how he managed to be so fast with it. Pushing it forward/backward for throttle and brake, and then left/right for turning.

It was crazy to see!

I guess one of the upsides is much smoother brake/throttle transitions :P

Is race C a no stop? Do you absolutely need fwd to be competitive in dr a/a+?
No-stop doesn't work very well. I think all the winners I've seen, have stopped 1 time. 1st and 2nd place (@viper al) in my last race were both driving Caymans (RWD).

Learn from my mistake. Once you've established an inside line at turn 2, don't try to switch to an outside line. You're already pushing your tires to the edge of their grip limits, so it doesn't take much to go beyond the limit.
I chose the cockpit view so you can see just how little I moved the wheel.
Had I just slowed down instead, I would've finished 11-12 seconds sooner.

I done messed up and bumped my Alt account up to A rating... that wasn't the idea...

It's funny, you think you are lost out there, struggling for speed and good finishes (Daily Race C for me this week)... but then you go and try it in the Scirocco, keep it clean as you can, and run 2nd for half the race before finishing 4th, and tipping your DR over the A Rating threshold. Oh well!

If you can get up front and clear some of the mid-pack garbage, and more importantly, keep it off the sand yourself, it's a fun race. The VW handles just a little better to me, but the TT is almost the equal.

There was a guy that was massively quick in an NSX at the end of my race, but I assume he was on softs and able to push it.

Daily Race A at Suzuka remains about the same as it was at the start of the week, usually a good battle among the top 4, and mostly clean so far other than the swerving Ayrtons who occasionally screw up a good battle with sloppy driving.

Originally intended to keep this Alt account matched with a friend who is currently around 25k DR, so we could race in FIA events together... but for now I guess I'll have the same competition as my main account in most races!

My alt is 4k shy from A. Starting from the back and finishing top 5 majority of the time will do it.

(doesn't matter where you start, Daily Races are matched by SR, then by DR top to bottom... QT are used to determine who starts in what spot, once that's sorted. Finishing position factoring your relative DR ratings vs who you raced against is the only thing that impacts your DR... not how many you pass, or where you start, etc.)

You know, the first time I did a few races with you I could tell although you didn’t have half the hours in as me you were ahead of where I was then. (Other words-equal hours to me you me you had more speed than I did)
Pretty cool to see you rankin up.
I’m surprised there’s not more folks talking up the c race, but I do have one or two concerns...
One qual times are way down by this late in the week, but 2 I kinda feel that the sr and pens are a little more lenient this week...I’ve seen a bit more contact these last few races...
I can’t tell tho since I’m just chillin at lower rank this week...Anyone feel they’ve loosened up sr downs/pens?
One other thing...Moral issue...I won an FIA yesterday I entered and I felt bad...
It was alt. I’m cool with alt on dailies but on FIA I dunno.
I didn’t feel good knowing I took a win without facing equal competition...Enough so that I’m not doing it again. The guy ahead of me most of the race drove his heart out and I told him so and also that I’ve been much higher ranked when I congratulated him...not cool tho ultimately.

Edit @sturk0167 “liberty 24 just changed its call sign liberty 24 is now Air Force one”
Just saw it first time. I teared up a few times. Great flick.

Nope. See my post in the penalties thread.

yeah, that sums up Big Willow: could be the same advice for that turn 2, the next harder left, the right at the top of the hill with the weird apex, the downhill left, and of course the final big fast right hand sweeper... the whole place is a lesson in patience and self control. Always best to trade a few tenths and live to fight another corner, but so hard to actually restrain yourself lap after lap. Throw in those angled hard edged curbs in a few of the tougher apexes, and man, it’s tough.

I have learned this week, though if you do, you are typically rewarded. I just cruised to the easiest 5th place I’ve had in months just by staying between the curbs and track edge edge without any effort to get around anyone. Was three seconds clear in front and behind all race, just enjoyed the drive after settling in without the drama of going off track, while others collected penalties and lost the script.

I have a rule in qualifying for that turn 2 sweeper in your video: make one adjustment but then commit to the rest of the turn... but come race time, you better make any adjustment you need to, or you’re toast. There are so many little variations in each corner, it’s like they paved it and then a hundred earthquakes happened over fifty years, and that’s how it is now. Tough place. Props to the brave ones that race on it IRL every weekend, with real bones to break any real checks to cash if they bin it.

Gonna do something stupid. Gonna take my nice, B/S team account to Willow. I'm also gonna do it in the Mustang first. Expect me to look like I went toe to toe with Rocky Balboa.

That didn't work at all. The only reason to drive the Mustang anymore is if you have the most practice time in it & just love the car, no matter the outcome of your race. PD has BoP that car into the trash. But, I'll tell you what is working....:mischievous:

Mustang is a good choice. Stay on Mediums as long as possible. And if you use TCS 1 on launch you'll jump a lot of FF's

Edit: I'll share the replay in game as soon as I can, PS4 is taken now....
Edit 2: the Stang is all about the camber on track. You need to be at the precise spot to get early on the gas. I pull away from T3 to the last turn.

Woo hoo! 3 CRB, up to 99 SR again. And with the craziness at Willow, placing top 5 all 3 races.

Also witnessed and had the most amazing racing by a Momosomething. The spent 7 of the first 8 laps side by side with another driver on most straight bits and sweeping turns. Swapping places constantly. No penalties or punts. After pit cycles I am racing them and it was 4 solid laps of very close and super clean racing. They beat me but I will race them anytime. They rock. Awesome way to finish up for the night.:D

Oh, it has its strong points, but it is just terrible on tire wear. After some unsatisfactory first laps, I thought about pitting for mediums. But I don’t think it would have helped me win. I would have had to make it a 2 stop race. Viper can do anything the Mustang can, but better. Tire wear can be controlled to the point of it being a 1 stop race & it’s faster in traffic.

Using my module hot spot. Did one GT3 at Red Bull. An NSX was smoking me down the straights, but the RX-V is tight in the corners. Finished in the top 10.

Just did two races in the Gr.4 Atenza. It's really good, but I've gone off twice.
First race was a long run on the RH. Pitted lap 10. Went off on lap 12 and pit for another set of RM. Finished P11 from P 14.

Second race, Started P9. Got up to P5 and went of on Lap 3. Pitted from RM to RH. Changed again on Lap 10 for RM. Went from P16(?) to finish P10.

Going one more again in the Atenza. Hopefully, I can keep it in the track. The AWD is helping me gain some positions and on corner exits.

Edit: Moved up from 8th to 7th in this last one.

Who's at fault??? Race C, following two cars a couple laps, we're all 3 pretty even. One goes into the pits end of lap 5. The other goes in the end of lap 6. I went in the end of 7. As I come out, they both pass, and we're in the same positions again, P4, 5, and me in 6th. It may be that my fresh Mediums were working, or they had both changed to Hard, because I caught them and was passing for P5 in the last corner. BUT, I was carrying to much speed on the outside, and went off. As I came back on, at the end of pit entrance, P5 decides to come into the pits again, just 2 laps from his previous stop. I was in front of him, though in the dirt, as he turned in. I looked at the video, and in his defense, he couldn't see me except in chase view. We collided, me back into the pits, and he went sideways and scrubbed his nose along the outside of pit wall. He must have been angry, as he went off track several more times during the next lap. Even with my unintentional 2nd pit stop, I caught P4, took the spot and finished in that position.

But who would be considered at fault in the incident? He saw me exit the pits the previous lap as he went by. After I went off the last turn, I couldn't see him entering, again. Just a racing thing, or clearly someones fault? Neither of us got a penalty, except for his time lost.

Someday I'll learn how to edit and upload videos.
