Ha, he definitely punted you on purpose!

You were within your rights to go for a move there, the door's open and your nose is juuust alongside but he makes a fractional move towards you and you carried a little too much speed in and as a result used the side of his ferrari as a nice buffer to swing yourself round. If you look back at it, imagine you hadn't made contact at entry - you still end up quite wide on the exit which would have left him nowhere to go. Not a criticism by any stretch, just one of those racing incidents but always worth thinking about relative positions at entry and exit. In the grand scheme of things a move into turn T13 doesn't get you much though, he still would have had the inside for the chicane so you were probably better off focusing on getting a good exit onto the pit straight and then doing him into T1. He went very deep into the hairpin at T10 under pressure from the NSX just before this incident, so we can surmise that the driver might struggle with heavy braking in pressure situations so use that to your advantage, force him to defend and move him off line to where he's less comfortable - then get him into T1, T4, or T10.
please watch all of this video he has the prior race in it as well. I wont comment just watch the whole video

I’m surprised no one chooses the Megane on A race.
It’s brakes are tremendous and it’s plenty fast.
I’m sure if a person knew the track they could win with it.
Like c race the 08 Nissan has been pretty wicked too. I like it’s sound and the cockpit has a usable mirror. Brakes are unbelievably good.
Dare to be different!
A lot of the lesser used cars are good if you spend time getting used to them.
@DarkSideNet do you have a gr2 Lexus with a black and white livery?
I did 3 Monza races yesterday, and I only saw 1 Megane and 2 Sciroccos. All 3 of them were me. :D

I don't have much to say, but I bought GTS on launch and this is the first week im touching online and I am having an absolute BLAST! I didn't think online would be this exciting and amazing honestly lol.
I have 100% the campaign aside from the endurance races so now im playing online :)

Only reason I bought PS+ back then.
Hope to see ya on track and best of luck!

Got to admit, big willow was mega fun , lots of great racing, i think its always a blast when strategy comes into play

however this was my most controversial moment of the week

Had to watch the replay and took some pictures and i still cant figure it out why the game gifted him the win , unless the speed trap is what decided the winner

Same thing happened to me today!

...decided on one Daily Race on my main account after some great ones on the Alt account (along with @sturk0167 and @RacingGrandpa... hi guys!)... and after a sort of dirty guy took himself out of contention on the last lap, had a great clean race with this other Peugeot, where I was edged out at the line after I thought I had him on the last turn... but I crossed the line inches behind his nose... until I looked and it showed me as the winner! You figure it out!

The thing about Monza is, when it’s clean, it’s really a blast. Couple of really run four-car scraps for the win in the first two races I braved today. Out braking or getting on the throttle before the guy in front of you to get a run, it’s pure racing, and when played fairly, what this game should be about. But I don’t expect it to remain that way as the week goes on.

Case in point: this lap!

Where the hell was the ghosting???!!!
I was at 95, and just need one more clean race to get to 99, then I annihilated a car that I felt was impossible to avoid.
Hopefully that dude learned something about how NOT to re-enter the track. Maybe he also assumed he'd be ghosted. :irked:

Does anybody know how the game makes its ghosting decisions?

Edit: Just noticed something. He was off the throttle, and in the process of quitting the race.

Good god man what took you so long to go online!!!

I had the game about 2 months before trying online racing, myself.

I only know if you get really really bad like d e bad it becomes slightly more challenging to smash others, the speed difference allowed is less, plus your behavior preceding getting more or less ghosting seems to have effect also. I’ve noticed a point where I’ve gone too far and I get ghosted until I behave a while...
There’s a bit of a I going on with it is my best guess.
Like the ai will race you a bit if you are driving steady but do something dumb and they back way off.
That’s jmo, I think there’s more to these systems then super simple algorithms.
That’s how I see it.

Well no lobby in view so gonna cruise a c race to try to gain sr...

Edit the screensaver is a trip too. On main account I’ve had it on a LOT as kind of a background thing and when they show the AI racing they show you stuff if you pay attention to it like you will see a car out of balance, unsettled getting passed but they never touch each other...
On my ALT on the other hand the AI screensaver never got weird UNTIL I dropped sr and was driving like a big a hole.
AFTER THAT I have noticed multiple times the AI screensaver clips showing cars bashing each other...It could be an ‘other issues addressed’ update thing but WHY?
I mean who is as crazy as me go have the screen on for so much time?
The other bit too you can learn from the screensaver is when they go into cockpit view..
It ALWAYS shows very SMOOTH inputs on steering etc, which imo is a good way to go for consistent speed in race. It may not be always that way, but I find that it’s a good thing to practice. Like a search. The perfect lap...

I found out why.
I've been using the Scirocco at Monza and I've been consistently punted from 4/5th on the grid down to plumb last at the end of the 1st. lap.
Then I changed the colour from Boiled Sweet Green to grey and suddenly everyone ignores me.

Now then, what colour's the Megane?

Went for a couple of races at Monza, and it is pretty good fun, I've been using the Scirocco, it's underrated as far as I can see, if you're in a slipstream it sticks with the others no problem, and the cornering is so much better, had to be careful to not just run into the back of the others on corner exit.

It's not good for the SR though, down to 89 with just one incident in each race, got punted across T1, obviously deserved to be reset and get a 2s penalty, and got hit in the middle of T1 in the other race, pinballing the car in front off to give me 1s. Think they tried revenge on the next lap at Lesmo 2, but hit me on the back when I was pretty much fully turned, so just gave me a boost and sent them into the gravel, might have been another SR down for that one.

Ran one A yesterday, in the Mégane. If you short-shift it at about half bar it can keep up with the RCZ's and the TT's.
I was at p2 in last lap when a TT dive-bombed me from over a second behind and send me sideways in the chicane and gave me a 2 second penalty...
SR went down to 83.
So today I went in a race C. Started p17 but spend the first four laps avoiding a South-African driver who was either out of his comfort zone or drunk. He drove the GT-R so faster on the straight than me and adamant to pass in all the wrong places.
I literally braked several times to avoid him and I estimate it cost me about 2-3 spots. But I was only there to repair the SR for FIA. So After he quit I could lumber on and finished p14. With SR 99 so mission accomplished even though it was at a cost of 220 DR

Had a couple of races at Monza and enjoying it, tend to gain a few places at the first chicane but tend to end up last before end of lap 1 thanks to being bumped or smashed off track, best one so far was start at p6 up to P2 then 20 seconds later last lol, not just every now and then but every single race its the same, lobbies were S and S/A. So much for clean S rating.

Dang it. Did 3 last night from cc up to b a.
Tried one this morning clean all race until the last 3 laps when one of my South American friends decided to hit me at the hairpin for sr down.
I was so pissed I punted him at the chicane and takes 2 seconds.
Boom b b.
One more incoming! I’ve still yet to get crb from the back on c race. The pen zone here just sucks.

It does. Hard. But I am having difficulties seeing a better place to put it. Maybe at the home straight?

I like where it is, the home straight isn’t really long enough to make it effective. Where it is now, even a .5 is enough to ruin your race, so it makes people think a little more about what they’re about to try(in theory). Race Smarter, Not Harder. :)

I have noticed for a while that if you're not in the META at places where it consumes the field, that the pack devours you as though you were a threat to their existence... it's true. It's especially a problem if your chosen car makes speed in different places than the META does... it's as though they see your difference as speed as a shortcoming and destroy you.

Pen will kill you here, so that’s true. I find coming from the back it’s best to just chill and wait to get some heat into the tires before going full speed.
It’s frustrating coming from behind then swerve master G is unghosted before you can get past...
Back to B A so that’s good, grazed the wall a bit so no crb all week yet.
The pen zone prolly wouldn’t be an issue if you q up.
It is pretty funny though to just cruise and see carnage then pass 4-5 at the pen zone lol.
People don’t race smart at lower levels at all. There’s been several times I checked up a touch early and let them fly into the wall then crossover :).
What’s even funnier is the guy behind who bases his entry to yours. They always try to go a bit faster than the car ahead, but when the car ahead is dang close to the limit they eat wall and you’re gone.
C race.
Good times.

This is very true! It's flock mentality at it's worst.

If you are in the META they can somehow accept that you are a better driver or that you got lucky but if In a different car? How dare you disobey the call of the META!!

This is very true! It's flock mentality at it's worst.

The thing is people often assume and use the top ten to determine what car to drive IN RACE. It is the thinking of sheeple.
Sometimes a car that’s not the absolute fastest hotlap car is way better IN RACE.
Plus it’s so dependent on driver too.
I do admit in some cases the races turn into one make but imo it’s the exception to the rule IN REALITY.
In GAME yeah but most players in game don’t pay attention to detail.
This game, yeah it’s forgiving but that doesn’t mean there’s not more depth to it than 99.999999999 percent of people can get.
I personally like most in this game to choose different cars than meta.
‘It’s true tho what Kosmoid said about the sheeple.
They think the meta entitled them, but that’s why you choose a non meta whose strengths work against them.

Cheers

I have tried all 4 cars in Q time for race A and the TT & RCZ are the ones for my style of driving I get the same times with both cars the other 2 are 2-3 seconds off for me, but your right about top ten followers. :D

The Monza race is a good example... I think the TT is a better race car than the RCZ, so I stick with it for the races, though I was able to get a slightly faster QT in the Peugeot than the TT. The brakes, stability, and more traction off the apex make it really good in race situations. I can brake 10m earlier than the RCZ in front of me, then ease off them and get the power on in the first chicane, making up 0.3 sec immediately and putting the nose of the TT on the bumper in front of me, then get past before the second chicane using the slipstream through Curva Grande. A very good racing option, despite a slight disadvantage on power. (and it seems more stable in the first Ascari chicane section than the RCZ, which takes the prospect of track limit penalties off the table... which has resulted in more than half of my positions gained... I've had exactly 1 compared to about 10 positions gained behind Peugeots who go over the lines in the second chicane and Ascari.)

I personally prefer the Renault. It's turn-in off throttle, it's very good brakes, it's ability to change direction fast and it's speed when you short-shift is all to my liking. I shift at 50% of the bar and it pulls all the way.

Edit @Groundfish I agree. Best race car and best q car is often the same in A and B but not all the time. And rarely in C.
Also, getting to know a car and drive it to it's weaknesses and strengths are something a lot of players never learn.
